so i have a bottle of weight loss supplements and was wondering if they would have negative effects if i took them. its called "slim seduction" ( womens weight loss supplement) and says its not intended for people under the age of 18. now i have an extremely difficult time losing weight because of my hormone stabilizers (aka. anti-depressants), my inherited slow metabolism, and long term effects of medical steroids i had to take when i was little which cause weight gain. i am fifteen and was wondering if anyone knew if the pills could be potentially harmful, if so i wish not to take them. i'm assuming that the pills would interfere with hormones in order to make weight loss easier, if not please correct my childish assumption.

How can I go from a women's 22 jean size to at least a size 8 in womens jeans?
I don't know what my weight is, but I know I'm over weight. I just hit up to size 22 in jeans this year, and I'm about to go a size above that. How can I loose at least 14 jean sizes in one year? I am willing to try weight loss programs online if they are free, diet pills and anything basically. I was browsing about the surgery, but I am cautious about it because I am only 21.

    • ANSWER:
Have you talked to your doctor yet? That's probably a good place to start. Advising patients to lose weight is something doctors do a lot of, and so they are probably pretty familiar with the options and well equipped to steer you in the right direction.

As to surgery - yeah, you have to be pretty hugely obese for that to be a good option, and have tried other things. I'm guessing you're not there yet.

I still get my period and have no kids.getting married and need weight loss

    • ANSWER:
I have been racking my brain about an unusual illness, I read in a magi zine, I cannot remember what it is called, but it shows up in young women, has the same symptoms has yours, weight gain, even when they restrict their calories, has something to do with hormones, but they still get periods, something about the ovaries not fluctuating properly, have the doctors perform every test on your ovaries, that they can, what I do remember is that it often go undetected, because doctors ignore the patients complaints, like the weight gain, they believe the patient is just eating more than they say. I hope someone out there read this article too, and can recall what it is, if I remember later, I write again, but MAKE your doctors realize something is wrong, they have not given you the right tests, (I swear, if a doctor does not know the answer to your health problem, then they believe a problem does not exist)

  12. QUESTION:
Medications and Vitamins, Know anything about them?
Ok, I have a question. I take alot of vitamins that they say are good for you that we need. My question is, what, if any side effects can these pills cause? Do any have reactions with one another? Are they safe to take? Am I over doing it? Im starting to worry about things these pills might cause in the longrun maybe to my health. The list is

    Two prescription pills:
    Wellbutrin 150MG
    Prilosec for heartburn 20MG

    Vitamins:
Womens one a day weight smart multi vitamin
    Vitamin c 500mg
    vitamin d 1,000 iu
    Vitamin B complex
One a day omega 3 fish oil 1200 mg
(I take all them because they say its good for your health to get extra b c and d, and fish oils)

    Acai pills
Acidophilus Proboitcs (these for weight loss, I heard they were good and antioxidants)
Green tea mainly for energy 315 MG twice a day

Not sure if anyone even knows anything about these pills, but wondering if im over doing it and endangering my health? Thank you

    • ANSWER:
WOW! Ok, so I am NOT at all a doctor, or even in the health profession, but I have taken everything you are currently taking and can tell you a few things on how they affected me:

Wellbutrin - made me GAIN weight like Crazy. So I took Acai pills to "counteract" and once I read the long laundry list of side effects I wanted to puke.

I also still take a daily B Complex vitamin, as well as a C & D. Once or twice a week I will throw in an additinal Calcium pill. The B Complex is wonderful for energy and metabolisim, I don't think you still need the additinoal Acidophilus Probotics or the Green Tea (although Green Tea has many other health benefits).

Most vitamins are water soluable, and you will only pee out the excess that your body does not immediately absorb - so make sure you are taking the extended release or else it is really all for nothing.

Overall, I have been advised by my physician that a good multivitamin daily is all you really need - and he even went as far to say that the vitamin supplement companies market in such a way that we "believe" that we need all these extra vitamins when really, if we eat a balanced diet, everything we need comes from our food.
Hope it helps, and again, I am no doctor but have been in your shoes!!

  13. QUESTION:
    working out too much?
I am about 155lbs and only 5'0 I need to lose about 30-40lbs. I am on a schedule of working out for about 2-3 hours a day. I do a variety of different things and switch them up such as spin class for 45 min/treadmill or eliptical for 30 min/ zumba dance class for 45 min/and I lift weights for about 40 min/ its a mixture each day for 5 days of the week.
I also have been watching what I eat. Ive been doing this for about 3 weeks now and love every minute of it-most of the time..lol-at least how good it makes me feel.
I sweat a lot and was wondering if I should be taking some kind of potassium pills. I take a womens one a day and thats all for now. I also drink a lot of water. I haven't seen much weight loss about 5lbs. But I do feel a lot firmer and tighter in areas.
Is that normal not to loose a lot right away? I know im building muscle but I thought I would be able to loose a little more than that by now. Any suggestions/or ideas would be great. Thanks so much :)

    • ANSWER:
bananas are a great source of potassium...

also your weight loss is normal, you should take measurements, you will see more significant numbers at first, then the weight will start to come down.

  15. QUESTION:
ORTHO TRI CYCLEN LO questions?anyone who knows anything?
I know this isn't really the proper section but in Womens Health you pretty much never get answers..and i need answers!

    ANYWAYS;
I just got it today and took the pill @ 6:45
then i decided to read some reviews...they were terrible.
Some people said they had panic attacks, their skin got worse, gained lots of weight, hair loss and that it doesn't help to prevent pregnancy.

Has anyone experienced good things with ortho LO?
I was put on it for moderate acne around my period and horrible cramps(i throw up because of them.)My doctor gave me the LO because I'm 5'3 100.5lb and 15.I think since she knows the reason that I'm going on it that she wouldn't prescribe a bad pill...so the negative reviews are a little scary.

I'm super nervous now because not because of the weight gain, but for the mood swings because i'm already a |3!TCH!

Will it help with my skin and when should i see results?
    Also,did anyone experience breast growth?

    HELP! :/

    • ANSWER:
I take the same pills... I gained like 4 or 5 lbs the first month or 2 that I took it, but then I lost it again afterwards. It just made me hungry all the time. I've never had a problem using it.... and I've never gotten pregnant while taking it. I had moderate/mild acne as well... It cleared up a little... but not as much as I wanted it to. I NEVER have cramps while I take the pill....my boobs have always been too small for my liking, but it did help them along whenever I started taking LO. But with most women, their breasts will be bigger when they're ovulating/on their periods, than they will any other time of the month.
      EDIT:
oh yeah, about the mood swings. personally, im a total b ! t c h (when people deserve it haha) I haven't noticed any thing out of ordinary in that area. I think I do get upset or flustered easier while on LO...
