Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Quick weight loss tips for women at home?
Hopefully someone can help me out here. Could anyone recommend some tips for quick weight loss? I'm wanting to work out at home if possible and I don't have a lot of money for equipment. Are there any exercises that anyone can suggest? Any help would be awesome!

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Pushups, situps, crunches, squats, run around the block. The usual. If youre a beginner and pushups are too hard you can do them against your wall, or against a couch.
You could also watch tv then during commercials do pushups or situps until your show comes back on. Make it fun. Always stretch before you work out though (Roll your neck, wrist, hips, ankle, try to touch your toes, etc.)
Eat healthy. Put down the chips and grab an apple, or put down the soda and grab a water.
Cut down on the candy, if you crave chocolate, eat an alternative, like Nutella on toast. It taste EXACTLY like melted chocolate, and it's healthy.

  2. QUESTION:
Good weight loss tips for women with PCOS?
I am 14 years old and have PCOS. As a result of this i am overweight. I have been eating healthily and taking part in regular exercise for 3 years now and the weight is still not shifting! Any one got any tips for weight loss? This would help loads :)

    • ANSWER:
Hi Emma.I am 20 years old and I also have PCOS and have been overweight. My mom is a personal fitness trainer and nutritionist and has helped me out.So I'll tell you what she taught me. Eat 6 meals a day. 3 meals with 3 small snacks in between. Your body weight and age determine how many calories you should have per day and intern how many calories you should have per meal. I would guess around 1500 calories a day judging by your age. Eat balanced meals consisting of proteins(fish, chicken, and egg whites are good sources of protein), carbs, and vegetables (not starchy vegetables like corn for example. They count as carbs.) NEVER go on low carb diets. The lack of carbs is replaced by water intake which means as soon as you begin to up your carb intake again you will gain it all back. Stay away from soft drinks, caffienated drinks, alcohol, and sugary drinks.Drink LOTS of water. Also stay away from sugary foods.I recommend greek yogurt which is low in fat, calories, and sugar.Mix it with a little organic granola and it makes a great snack.I also like raw baby carrots. This healthy eating habit shouldn't even be called a diet.It should become part of your lifestyle. As for exercise start slowly because you have to work your body up to being able to take on a tougher workout. For cardio start with a quick paced walk for thirty minutes. After about a week quicken your pace to a jog and after another week try running. If you feel like your not ready to run yet continue jogging but jog for 45 minutes instead of 30.An important thing to remember is to keep pushing yourself more and more in your workouts.Slowly add more time or a faster pace or more resistance. If your workout is at a stand still, your weight loss will be at a stand still as well.Your weight and age also indicate what your heart rate should be when you are working out. This is a good reference website to go to in order to learn how to calculate yout target heart rate.http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Your-Target-Heart-Rate.A good exercise plan always consists of both cardio and weight training. Cardio without weight training results in flabby untoned tissue! if you are training alone I recommend staying away from large weight machines. You may hurt yourself. Stick with the small plastic dumbells. In fact I recommend yoga and pilates which really work your core as well as multiple muscle zones in your body and are great for toning.Keep in mind that 30 minutes of exercise a day is required to see significant changes.Unless you live an extremely active lifestyle the activities of normal daily life do not burn enough calories for weight loss.Supplement your eating and exercise with a daily multi-vitamin. I also take CLA or Conjugated Linoleic Acids. They reduce fat and preserve muscle tissue, but purchase them at a legitimate store rather than online.Online offers are usually scams ,and pills sold online by sketchy sellers can be dangerous. Also talk to your doctor first to be sure they are safe for someone your age. I recommend keeping your doctor informed throughtout your weight loss process just to be sure you are being as safe and healthy as possible. I have lost 20 pounds(9.08 kilograms) in about 3 months using this process.Good luck and stay motivated! =D

  3. QUESTION:
I'd like some specific weight loss tips for women so that I can lose about 35 pounds?

    • ANSWER:
      Weight loss tips for women...

Uh... mostly the same as for men. Eat a lot of protein because it speeds up your metabolism, take in a lot of fiber, and do spinning... like what children do, spin around in a circle.

I'm attaching an article from my favorite author who gives specific weight loss tips for women. Hope that helps you.

  4. QUESTION:
best weight loss tips for women ?

    • ANSWER:
When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

  5. QUESTION:
Anyone have any quick weight loss tips for post-pregnancy women?

    • ANSWER:
Breastfeeding worked wonders for me! In 10 days I lost 37lbs...and I only put on 12 my entire pregnancy. I also started taking my son out as soon as the weather was nice and we would go on walks....I found a 3-4 milie walk one of the most relaxing things I could do...especially if the baby was sleeping. You get extra work either pushing the stroller or having your baby in a carrier.

  6. QUESTION:
Do you have any good weight loss tips for a woman 59 years old?
I need to lose 70 lbs and have lost 12 so far the old fashioned way by diet and exercise. It's going very slow even though I have dropped sugar, dairy and all processed food. I brisk walk an hour everyday and drink lots of water. What else can I do to speed this up?

    • ANSWER:
Dance. There's fairly good evidence that not only does it burn calories and most people are more willing to keep it up compared to gym-type exercise, but it delays loss in mental acuity, helps prevent falls and increases bone density in hips and legs. Ballroom dancing, tap, belly dance, etc...

  9. QUESTION:
Women ,any tips on weight loss and excercise.?
I have been on around a 1400 calorie controlled diet for about 6 weeks in hope of shedding about a stone.I ballooned up to 12 stone after having my son.I have cereal for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and chicken, potatoes and veg for dinner as an example.
I'm still feeling quite hungry and thought by now the hunger pangs would have subsided.I hate thinking about food all the time and fed up of always feeling hungry.I do have the occasinal blip on a weekend but i try to correct this in the week as my sister told me it takes 5 days for the food to turn to fat,so you have time to correct it by exercising more.
I'm using my exercise bike about 5 times a week for about 20-30 mins each time. I'm pretty unfit so its not exactly vigorous but its at a reasonable speed. Is that enough exercise ? I'm finding that hard enough and don't think i can manage much more at the moment.
I have definitely lost a bit of weight as my clothes are looser,I don't weigh myself as a rule, but I reckon I have lost around 8 -10lb or so.
I'm feeling quite fed up and wonder if anyone has any tips,I don't want to give up now i've come this far.
My friend started this diet with me so I have moral support from her,but she seems to be doing so much better than me and she doesn't even really exercise as such.
Any info would be really appreciated.

  13. QUESTION:
Can anyone give me tips on weight loss and weight training for women?
I've always been known as "The Bigger Girl" and I'm ready for a change in my life. I've tried diets, running on an elliptical until I couldn't see straight and lifting weights until I couldn't move (I'm sure I was doing it wrong). Nothing works.

What the scale says really does not matter to me but what I see in the mirror does.

I realize I've got a very long way to go until I'll be at my goal and I've decided to give myself 1 year to start seeing a change. If not, I've made an appointment for a consultation with a plastic surgeon for Summer 2010.

I need to find a full program that can be broken down into separate days (ie: Arms - Monday, Thursday). Someone please help.

  17. QUESTION:
    Any tips for weight loss?
I've tried everything. I'm a yo-yo dieter and have a really bad habit of comfort eating. I'll lose a bit of weight, put a lot back on then comfort eat because I give up entirely. I tried drinking stacks of green tea - no difference. I cut out chocolate and crap which made me lose about a stone which I've managed to keep off but I was in a foul mood for two weeks before I got used to it. I used Davina Mcall's Body Buff DVD which is amazing! I generally eat when I'm hungry but I don't pig out. If I feel hungry then I drink a lot or drink stacks before a meal so I eat less. I was 15 and a half stone two months ago now I'm just over 14 stone. I'm 5ft 9, female. I've seen photo's of women who weigh about 12 stone, are the same height but are much 'larger' which confuses me :S Does anybody have any good/reliable weight loss tips? Please help me out :/ x

i'm a teenager, 190 pounds and I am 5'2". I am working hard to get down to at most a size 8. what is the average weight range for a size eight? how long would it take to get there? weight loss tips? I'd like to get down to this by at most before august. thank you so much!

    • ANSWER:
Im about an 8 but im 5 7.. I weigh 165 lbs but last year I was 198 lbs and a size 14 it took me like four months to lose 30-35 lbs but the first twenty lbs came off in like a month and a half I think. 20. QUESTION:
Weight loss programme for women age 40 plus?
    Hi there,
I've already lost 30kg...from the "shock & trauma diet" after a very sudden separation/divorce. I am slimmer for the first time in my life! And I have a wonderful new partner.
But do you think I can lose the last 10kg? NO! Any tips and/or advice regarding diet & exercise would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
What can a weight loss programme do for you? It is an organised plan created to help people lose weight. It is not for everyone, only you and your family know if you are committed. A weight loss programme is basically designed to introduce a gap between the calorie you eat in your food, and the calories you expend for energy. This calorie deficit then allows for weight loss as the body seeks to replace this calorie deficit by tapping into your body fat.

In today’s modern world, there is a lot of pressure on being slim or thin, having a good self image and enjoying good health. Gaining weight is not always about eating too much food, nor even eating the wrong food. It can however often be due to emotive issues that lie deep within our subconscious.

High levels of stress are often a major problem due to the demands made upon us in our lifestyle. The healthiest way to lose weight is not enduring a crash diet nor is it going through sudden bursts of exercise. To avoid stressing yourself even more, the body prefers slow changes in terms of eating food and physical exercise.

Many people find success with losing lose weight through a hypnotherapy programme. Quite often you may find that there was a problem that was stuck, or a deep emotional need that needs resolving. Using the subconscious resources you already have can release the issues and reasons and in turn releases the excess weight.

You can release the issues and reasons using hypnotherapy which utilises the subconscious resources you already have. This sort of weight loss programme can in turn release your excess weight.

Any unique weight loss programme targets the mind related areas where these issues lay. Often, many methods are used to move you towards healthy weight loss. Analysis helps to recreate yourself a healthier belief system and get rid of those old habits from childhood, habits such as ‘clean your plate’ or ‘eat it all up’. These commands can still be active in the subconscious. Your subconscious didn’t know you were children and it certainly doesn’t know you are an adult. The subconscious &nbspreacts to the moment of now. We can often carry these forward through our lives and they act like mind programmes that run on and on.

It’s important the hypnotherapist has a relaxed approach and a sense of humour to make people feel at ease straight away. When that happens, magic often happens and puts you back in control. And that always feels good!

Some hypnotherapists use a mixture of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Inner Child Work, Parts Therapy and Suggestion Therapy to get the results that you want. Whether it be comfort eating, snacking, chocolate cravings, boredom, sneaky midnight feasts, or not having a clue why you just can’t shed that weight, a trained hpnotherapist can often help.

Consider using a hypnotherapist for a weight loss programme. It could be the best decision you ever made, leading you to reduce weight, lower your stress levels, make &nbspbetter food choices and motivate you towards a healthier lifestyle

  21. QUESTION:
    Realistic Weight loss tips?
I want to lose 20lbs. I recently found out I have high blood pressure and losing 20lbs will help it go down naturally (all of the women in my family have really bad hypertension by the age of 29. My mother who is a size 5 was on high blood pressure pills by age 25 it's genetic sadly )
I'm 28 and would like to avoid medication as much as possible so i'd like to lose the 20lbs ASAP. But I need to find a healthy way to do it and low carb is out of the question (I am hypoglycemic and last time I tried to lose this 20lbs of extra weight I tried low carb and was dizzy for weeks and eventually passed out) I was thinking of something more along the lines of lots of veggies and fruits but I need some advice on a meal planning.

Also i've been doing yoga for 2 months now and noticed that just yoga alone my BP has gone down on average from 140/90 to 132/80. (i'm just averaging out my readings) Is there a such thing as adding cardo to yoga like workouts? because that would be awsome

    • ANSWER:
Low carb is the best way to manage hypoglycemia by controlling blood sugar levels. High blood sugar triggers an equal amount of insulin which forces blood sugar down, sometimes too far down which triggers hypoglycemic symptoms. Make sure your meals (& snacks) are balanced with proteins & fats. Proteins & fats slow the blood sugar rise. It is best to eliminate simple carbs from your diet.

It's important if you now have hypoglycemic symptoms often that when you switch to low carb to make sure you eat after waking & eat often. Be careful of coffee, especially at first, this triggers hypoglycemia in many people. It shouldn't take long for blood sugar levels to even out but there may be a little while before hormones normalize.

As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin is not activated. Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). The more protein the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones.

Hypoglycemic symptoms occur when the blood sugar drops too low. This can happen from not eating or from eating too much high glycemic foods. Hypoglycemic symptoms can include nausea, dizziness, shakiness, anxiety, palpitations, sweating, clamminess among others.

Low blood sugar is NOT the opposite of high blood sugar. It's an over response to high blood sugar. Not managing your blood sugar, will escalate your health problems. I highly recommend a low carb way of eating for blood sugar management & optimal health.

  22. QUESTION:
    Children's weight loss tips?
I have 2 girls who are a little on the chunky side...not obese, but in need of a little weight loss. They are 8 & 9 years old. We as a family are making a more conscious effort to watch what we eat. Being an overweight woman myself I understand the importance of being healthy and the stigmatism that comes with the extra weight. Looking for healthy summer snacks and meals or ideas. As I am off most of the summer we have decided to do a daily morning bike ride as well as more swimming in the pool for excercise. Any other ideas?

    • ANSWER:
Glad you read your taking a positive step in making your family fit.

First, children don't cook, they are being fed. So you need to make sure you remove the bad stuff (temptations) from the pantry.

Kids have energy if they are let loose, so encourage activies that promote more movement.

Best suggestion: Look in the pantry, and read the ingredients of the things in there. If you see the words "Modified, Hydrogenated, High Fructose, or sugar" in the first 3 (or better 5) ingredients... stop eating and buying this stuff. Those 4 things feed fat. We intake enough natural fats already, we don't need to feed it too!

And get this, those 4 things eliminate about 70% of the processed foods at the grocery store too. It's a little hard to do at first (took my mom forever), but once you learn about em, it'll be second nature.

It's very difficult to overeat fruits and red or yellow veggies. Make smoothies (not ice cream please!) as a good summer treat.

  23. QUESTION:
Anyone have any good weight loss tips?
I'm having a really hard time losing weight. I've always been chubby and I'm actually okay with that but after the birth of my second son I gave 30lbs and I hate my body. I feel like my husband isn't attracted to me anymore and I wanna make a change. I have 2 toddler boys and I am having a hard time keeping up with them. I feel like a 40 year old woman and I'm only 21. Anyone have advice? I'm a stay at home mom but I don't really snack with my kids. I do the Ab Lounge every night and that seemed to work, I lost 20lbs but as soon as I stopped doing it for 2 weeks I had gained it back. Anyone know of good diets or weight loss pills that have worked? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Perhaps you could try the morning banana diet that apparently has taken Japan by storm.

  24. QUESTION:
    weight loss for women?
Okay... i want to lose weight on my hips, because i want curves and i dont want a broad body, i also want to lose weight on my stomach and possibly (but not so importantly) on my legs and thighs, can any body recommend anything? and exersise tips or diet improvements, i also want a toned figure so i already do a few sit ups daily for my abs. i only have weights and a rowing machine.

    • ANSWER:
Run every day for 30-40 minutes. Do lunges, squats, situps, and planks. Lunges work your butt, inner thighs. Running will make the weight come off your hips and stomach as well. drink a lot of water and watch what you eat. don't over eat.

  25. QUESTION:
I'm a female and am 5'11" and weigh 150 pounds. What is my ideal weight/some good weight-loss tips?
I used to weigh 125 when I was in high school and I've put on 25 pounds in five years since then. I do not want to be one of those women who gets fatter as they get older. I'm tall, so it doesn't look as bad as it would on a shorter person, but 150 is a lot for a woman.

I really haven't ever dieted or worked out before, so any guidance on what is HEALTHY and would be best is appreciated. I don't want a quick Master Cleanse fix or something that is unhealthy or just a fad. But about working out - I think I'll hate it. I'm not athletic (tall and gawky here) and have no rhythm or ability physically, so I'm worried about looking like a dummy at the gym. I really have no idea what would be good/what's easy to do.

    • ANSWER:
5'11' at 150 Is just SEXY.
keep it around 150 and you boys will melt for you.
However you should start some form of exersice; whether its jogging, playing sports, swimming, yoga , pilate, squash, tennis, or whatever, choose something that you think you are gonna have fun doing. Doing exercise will make your body produce more endorphines which in turn will make you feel good and elevate your mood.
Also try to replace some of your simple carbs intake with some good carbs. ie, switch your blueberry muffin into raisinbran muffin. Also try to switch carbs with some protein. i.e switch your fried rice dinner with oven roasted chicken( YUM YUM).
cutting down on carbs will reduce that bloated feeling you might have sometimes.
In Conclusion, 1)do some exercise you like,2) cut down on some simple carbs, 3) don't get caught in the media trying to sell you that anorexic look. 5'11' at 150lbs is SEXY!

  26. QUESTION:
Weight loss tips? I've been trying for years...?
I'm trying to lose about 30 lbs before the end of May. I weigh 180 pounds right now and I am 5'9" (I am a woman). I exercise every day, about 30 minutes on cardio and 15-30 on toning, and I'm about to start playing ultimate frisbee at least 2 times a week. I go to college, so it's a struggle to eat healthy all the time, especially since I live in a dorm. How long do you think it will take me to lose 30 pounds? Do you have any tips for college kids?

    • ANSWER:
30 lbs by may is doable, but I would increase the cardio to 60 minutes. Diet will play the biggest part, if you drink cutting out alcohol will be a big help. Eat balanced meals with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. limit breads, starches, and fatty meats. Drink plenty of water it is what flushes your system out and helps raise your metabolism.
Ditto on the Soda, try herbal Tea Iced or hot with two teaspoons of sugar, or Better yet splenda, as a substitute.

  27. QUESTION:
Magazine Weight Loss challenge! Need some tips?
I am thinking about entering the BodyBlitz challenge in Women's health and Fitness and I am pretty sure I would be the youngest entering since mainly adults read those sorts of mags.

    I am 13 years old, 5 ft '2', 56kg (123.3 pounds) ,Medium frame
and I have 12 weeks to get slim. I will be eating around 1200 calories a day and going to the gym everyday plus walking for 1 hour everyday so far.

SO have you got any fat blasting tips?

    • ANSWER:
The perfect way to loose weight and monitor your progress is to use a calorie counter on a daily basis while you diet.

      Energy In/Energy Out

      Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

      One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

      1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

      Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

      Good Food

      My favorite things to eat:

      Avocado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

      Lean Cuisines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

It’s all about the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..If you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...that’s okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

      Fruits and Veggies

All you want on the schedule listed below.
Bananas are my favorite. They are very filling and can make a meal all on their own.

      ____

      Vitamins

My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realize is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

      _____

      Soda/Carbonation

Carbonation is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbonated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffeine in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories. Of what??? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

      ____

      Your Body

Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. Now it knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

      ____

      Walking Buddy

This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

  28. QUESTION:
    Weight loss help? Suggestions, tips?
Of course, one of the top resolutions for men and women EVERY year is too lose those extra pounds.
    =] I'm no different.
I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some suggestions or tips on how I could lose some weight.
I'm about 5'8 and at 175ish pounds, and according to doc, I should be at 150.
So, I have a bit of weight to lose.

Thing is, my family's financial situation won't allow for a treadmill, or weights, and the neighborhood gym memberships are RIDICULOUS. My school's gym is strictly available for the sports teams.

Specific weight-loss assistant foods will also be out of reach because of my guardians who have the "If you're hungry, find anything in the fridge" attitude.

Don't get me started on school lunches.

Running my neighborhood really isn't an option. Not the safest place.
    x]

But I'm up to any other suggested exercises; crunches, jumping jacks, all that.

And also maybe walking my dog. ^_^

So if anyone out there could lend me a hand, that'd be great.
I just want to be healthier. This is in no way for anyone else but myself. I'm happy otherwise, I just don't want this to BECOME a problem.
    Thanks for the tips Tasha.
Didn't even consider jump rope. =] I love it.
Thank you Lorna! Sounds easy enough. Good thing I love fruits & veggies.
    Congratulations as well!

  29. QUESTION:
Weight loss tips from people with weight loss experience?
Well, I have been on a diet for about a month. I've been eating around 1300 calories and 75 carbs per day. I exercise on the treadmill on speed 3 for a mile about 4 times a week...I haven't been drinking a lot of water, because I don't want to be running to the bathroom all the time. I drink diet coke/unsweetened tea.

After a month, I basically only lost about 2 or 3 pounds. I am a woman, 20 years old, and I'm went from about 137 to 135. Needless to say I am frustrated. I am not gonna lie. I have had maybe 3 cheat days (in the last 30 days) but even then, its not like I threw my whole day away and stuffed my face.

My calories consist of whole grain pita bread, peanut butter, eggs, cheese, grilled chicken, and sugar free klondike bars at night (one per night for dessert). It varies day to day, with things added in accordingly, but these are the things that frequently show up in my menu for a day. Thanks for the input.

    • ANSWER:
Depending on how tall you are, 13,000 may be too many calories if you're trying to lose weight quicker.
You really should be drinking water. It will make you lose weight like crazy. I started drinking only water and I lost 15 pounds.
Also, buy a pedometer that counts calories lost as well as steps and see how much you're really doing in a day. You might be surprised.
Try changing the things you're eating a bit. Buy all natural peanut butter (or if you have a store that grinds their own, that's even better) to make sure there are no nasty preservatives in what you're eating, instead of eggs eat egg whites, cut out the cheese (the sodium is probably screwing with your weight), and don't eat sugar free klondike bars (odds are they're not not completely sugar free, and they still have all sorts of yucky things like saturated fats.)
Sometimes you have to step it up a notch if you REALLY want to lose weight.

Weight loss for a disabled person.?
    Hello

Can anyone give me some weight loss tips, exercise is very difficult when movement is restricted. Thank you!!

I think this is a great question.

As a few others have suggested, I would consult with your doctor, attend support groups or exercise groups for people with disabilities and retain the services of a fitness professional who has expertise in disabilities. 33. QUESTION:
    Weight loss?
I am a 47 year old woman, I have already given birth 3 times (last one was at 32) and I weight 143 pounds (65kg). I have these bumps of extra weight on my belly and arms mostly (and some on my legs). I have Hyperthyroidism (maybe that's why I'm like this). Also I have a sweet tooth for candy and chocolate. I need to control my eating habits but I can't. I am very lazy ("I take a cab or the bus just because I don't want to walk 4 blocks", literally). So in conclusion I want to have a permanent workout (not very strict but posibly constant) and some diet tips. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Successful weight loss does take some discipline and it does take getting used to living in a new way and with a new relationship to your food and to your body. But the results are worth it.

In the past seven months, I have lost over 72 pounds by doing just a few things:

      1. Keep a daily journal of every single thing you eat. Get a calorie book so you will know how many calories each thing has. Studies show that just doing this causes many people to automatically reduce their food intake.

      2. Reduce calories to 1600 calories a day. It might seem a bit low as if hunger is inevitable, but see the next tip to resolve the hunger problem. By the way, the average person in the Western world eats two to three times as many calories each day...and that's why the most common causes of death in these countries are related to high calorie, high fat lifestyles.

      3. Hunger isn't a problem for me on 1600 calories a day because I eat fresh, organic fruits and vegetables whenever I feel a bit peckish. If you get your daily recommended minimum servings of veges and fruit i.e. 5 servings, you'll find that you just aren't particularly hungry for most of your day. If you go beyond the minimum, you will find it nearly impossible to find room for junk food.

      4. Limit fat intake to 40 grams of fat a day. This is quite easy to do just by eliminating processed foods and relying primarily upon fresh, natural foods. In other words, try really hard to eliminate anything that comes in a box and has a long list of complex ingredients that you don't even begin to know what they are.

      5. Eat only fresh, organic, lean forms of protein. Keeping the meat lean lowers the fat content and thus makes it easier to stay at or under your daily 40 gram fat limit. While organic products are quite controversial in the U.S., the simple fact is that organic meat is a. pesticide free whereas regular meat is loaded with it, b. is free from even the risk of "mad-cow" disease as it has not been fed contaminated feed, and it has been demonstrated to have much higher nutritional value.

      6. Exercise one hour a day. Every single day. After all, one hour a day isn't a lot of time compared to all the benefits of saving your health and your life.

      7. Finally, don't forget to consult a doctor before you begin a diet and exercise program.

Good luck! You can do this. I know you can because I'm already 70% of the way to my goal.

  38. QUESTION:
Spiritually speaking, why are overweight women targeted more than overweight men?
If a female celebrity gains weight, everyone knows. If a male does, it could be in a magazine...it won't be the cover. Not as often as a female.
There are plenty of roles in movies for overweight men. Overweight women are seen as ugly, and aren't ever even the comic relief like overweight men in movies...and if they're talented, they're still overlooked because they're fat. Or told to lose weight.
And speaking of which, if there's a fat guy on TV or in a movie, he can still get laid in the story, or have a girlfriend. Fat girls can't, and don't. They're the comic relief...not because they're funny, but because they're fat and "unappealing".
There are tons of "fat chick" jokes, "yo mama" fat jokes, so on and so forth.
If an overweight woman wears a bikini, people act as if it's a catastrophe, it's simply not nice to look at. If an overweight man wears a swimsuit...frankly, he's not mocked as much. It always seems like overweight women are expected to cover up more...but not men.
It just appears to be that fat women aren't as socially acceptable as fat men. This isn't true for every single case in the world, but from my experience they are. Why? They're both fat. They're both people. It seems like "fat chick" has become a label among some (not in my school, thank god). It's so wrong.
And why is it in that every woman's magazine you'll find weight loss tips, body acceptance guides, way more than in male magazines?
Why are women targeted? Why are they the butt of jokes, the unattractive ones, why are there more fat male actors than female actors? Why do women have to be the sexy ones? What, if we're not appealing to every male we're useless? If we enjoy food we're useless? I'm not even fat and I'm pissed. Why don't men have to slave over themselves to be beautiful? Why were some men suddenly mad that the movie 300 promoted muscular men with impossible bodies? Why is it that it's okay for a woman to starve herself and throw up during filming to stay impossibly thin, but as soon as a guy's body is impossible some men get their feelings hurt?
Why is it that when a woman points all of this out, she's automatically called a pissy feminist on her period?

What's sad is in my life fat people, in general, aren't made fun of. But in the media...dear god, don't read that crap.

    • ANSWER:
This isn't a 'spiritual' answer but...I think the vast majority of the abusiveness in this world is about the self-conscious ranking of people for the sake of Somebody feeling a little bit better about being a little bit higher,'better', than somebody else. The prejudices, the 'war between the sexes', real wars, genocide; how much of these could exist without that need to be superior to somebody else? Our media-driven society has utterly surrendered to the sale of this idea that you must win some contest, meet some standard They have placed before you or you aren't Normal, you're not worthy. They want to put us back in the jungle to beat each others' brains out and sell tickets to the rest of them who want to drool over the whole mess. It's absolutely REVOLTING how people live to blow their noses all over somebody for any reason at all. When you find ONE thing no one has ever used to bag on somebody else, tell me; I really do want to know...

  39. QUESTION:
wanna losse weight?? tips here :) )?
ok well you can try the raw food diet.
    read this ...
    :) )
What is the Raw Food Diet?
The raw food diet is a diet based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, nuts, dried fruit, and seaweed.

Heating food above 116 degrees F is believed to destroy enzymes in food that can assist in the digestion and absorption of food. Cooking is also thought to diminish the nutritional value and "life force" of food.

Typically, at least 75% of the diet must be living or raw.

What are the Benefits of the Raw Food Diet?
Proponents of the raw food diet believe it has numerous health benefits, including:
    Increased energy

    Improved skin appearance

    Better digestion

    Weight loss

    Reduced risk of heart disease
The raw food diet contains fewer trans fats and saturated fat than the typical Western diet. It is also low in sodium and high in potassium, magnesium, folate, fiber and health-promoting plant chemicals called phytochemicals.

These properties are associated with a reduced risk of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. For example, a study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that consumption of a raw food diet lowered plasma total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations.

What are the Guidelines of the Raw Food Diet?
    1. What can I eat?

Unprocessed, preferably organic, whole foods such as:
    Fresh fruits and vegetables

    Nuts

    Seeds

    Beans

    Grains

    Legumes

    Dried fruit

    Seaweed

    Unprocessed organic or natural foods

    Freshly juiced fruit and vegetables

    Purified water

    Young coconut milk
At least 75% of food consumed should not be heated over 116 degrees F.

    2. What cooking techniques are used?

Specific cooking techniques make foods more digestible and add variety to the diet, including:
    Sprouting seeds, grains, and beans

    Juicing fruit and vegetables

    Soaking nuts and dried fruit

    Blending

    Dehydrating food
    3. What equipment can I use?
A dehydrator, a piece of equipment that blows air through food at a temperature of less than 116 degrees F.

A good-quality juice extractor for juicing fruit and vegetables

A blender, food processor, or chopper to save time

Large glass containers to soak and sprout seeds, grains, and beans

Mason jars for storing sprouts and other food
    Side Effects

Some people experience a detoxification reaction when they start the raw food diet, especially if their previous diet was rich in meat, sugar, and caffeine. Mild headaches, nausea, and cravings can occur but usually last for several days.

    Precautions
The raw food diet may not be appropriate for certain people, such as:
    Children

    Pregnant or nursing women

    People with anemia

People at risk for osteoporosis - A Washington University study found that people following a raw food diet had lower bone mass. Bone turnover rates, however, were similar to the group that ate a standard American diet.
Considerable time, energy, and commitment is needed to be healthy on the raw food diet. Many of the foods are made from scratch. Some ingredients may be hard to find, such as Rejuvelac (the fermented liquid drained from sprouted grains), sprouted flour, date sugar, young coconut milk, carob powder and Celtic sea salt.

People must be aware that certain nutritional deficiencies can occur on the raw food diet, including:
    Calcium

    Iron

B12 – The Journal of Nutrition study found that a raw food diet increased levels of homocysteine due to vitamin B-12 deficiency.

    Protein

    Calories
Critics of the raw food diet say while it’s true that some enzymes are inactivated when food is heated, it doesn’t matter because the body uses its own enzymes for digestion. In addition, cooking makes certain phytochemicals easier to absorb, such as beta-carotene in carrots.

Another critique is that the human body has changed in response to eating cooked foods. Some of these changes are that are jaws and teeth have become smaller, our stomachs have shrunk, and our small intestines have grown longer, lengthening the digestive surface area.

According to other alternative diet theories, such as macrobiotics, Ayurveda, and traditional Chinese medicine, a raw-only diet may not be appropriate for people living in colder climates or for people with certain constitutional types.

"An Apple A Day..." - Cider Vinegar Health Benefitstopic posted Fri, October 13, 2006 - 12:18 PM by Craig

Many people are now convinced—Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), that wonderful “old-timers” home remedy, cures more ailments than any other folk remedy and has been highly regarded throughout history. In 400 B.C. the great Hippocrates, Father of Medicine, used it for its amazing health qualities.

The reported cures from drinking Apple Cider Vinegar are numerous and include: allergies (including pet, food and environmental), sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, Candida, acid reflux, sore throats, contact dermatitis, arthritis, gout, and even heart pain. Apple Cider Vinegar breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight. It has also been reported that a daily dose of apple cider vinegar in water has soaring blood pressure under control in two weeks!

For centuries, the benefits from cider vinegar to fight infection, promote digestion, fighting osteoporosis, have been well known. One of the first goals on the way to great health is to restore the body's pH to the alkaline range. As nearly all chronic illnesses take place in a body that has become acidic due to the gradual depletion of its mineral reserves, it is logical to check on the body's acid/alkaline balance and to work towards maintaining it in the alkaline range. The state of the body's acid/alkaline balance can be easily measured by testing the urine using pH strips.

      INTERNAL BENEFITS:
. Rich in enzymes & potassium
. Naturally supports a healthy immune system
      . Helps control weight
      . Helps soothe dry throat
. Promotes healthy digestion & pH balance
. Helps remove body sludge & toxins

ACV is also a natural antibiotic germ fighter, fights E. coli and other bacteria. It is an excellent remedy for food poisoning and helpful in digestive upsets. ACV helps control and normalize weight and improve digestion. ACV helps relieve arthritis stiffness and rheumatism.

Use two teaspoons (2 t.) in a pint of water daily for yourself—or one teaspoon in the dog or cat’s drinking water—as a healthy tonic. Drink a daily tonic of apple cider vinegar to help you keep the right pH balance in the urinary tract, since the proper acidity creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and yeasts that cause these infections.

      EXTERNAL BENEFITS:
      . Helps maintain healthy skin
. Helps promote a youthful, healthy body
      . Soothes irritated skin
. Relieves muscle pain from exercise

ACV helps to maintain healthy skin, promote youthful, healthy bodies. Soothes pain of sunburn, the itch from bug bites, and the sting from plants. ACV helps prevent dandruff, itching scalp, baldness, and dry skin. ACV soothes tight aching joints, sore muscles. Apple cider vinegar also removes sebum and environmental and product buildup on the hair shaft.

COMBINE WITH NATURAL BEE HONEY TO:
      . Relax the nervous system
      . Promote deep sleep
      . Relieve rheumatism
      . Relieve arthritis
. Relieve bone and muscle pain and soreness
      . Relieve heart ailments
      . Relieve stress
      . Relieve insomnia

Mix organic apple cider with pure raw honey and drink at night before going to bed. Great for calming nerves, promoting relaxation and relief of bone related ailments. Adjust the amount of vinegar and honey for comfort and taste. See my recommended recipe here:

      RECIPE:
250 mL (8 oz) Purified Water (warm enough to melt honey)
1 to 2 teaspoons Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (Organic recommended)
1 to 2 teaspoons Honey (Local, raw, non-GMO recommended)

(Honey comes from flowers and has a very light energy. I recommend honey from flowers that are known to provide support for heart and lungs. Use local honey to help provide relief from allergies and build immunity.)

Apple Cider Vinegar is proving very beneficial to people and animals with arthritis because it breaks down calcium deposits in the joints while re-mineralizing the bones. It has shown to be equally beneficial to dogs with hip dysplasia. ACV is also effective for urinary tract infections, and it lowers high blood pressure. In animals, it is helpful in skin and coat problems and in replacing potassium depletion. (Cranberry juice is also a well-known home remedy for urinary tract infections. It prevents bacteria from attaching to the walls of the urinary tract.)

A new University of California-Davis Medical Center study shows that daily consumption of 12 ounces of apple cider or apple juice can reduce the risk of heart disease. And the benefits don’t stop there. A recent Cornell University study found that the antioxidants in apples also inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells.

ACV has been found to protect arteries from harmful buildup of plaque. Many heart attacks are caused by high amounts of fats and cholesterol in your blood. The fiber in ACV helps to absorb fats and cholesterol by expelling them from the body as waste materials.

ACV is used to promote the health of veins and capillaries; it is also useful in assisting in the health of the heart. The potassium found in apple cider vinegar is also beneficial to the heart.

The dietary fiber in ACV is beneficial in controlling glucose levels in the blood. Minerals like manganese, calcium, magnesium, silicon and iron develop bone mass and make them stronger. It is also a rich source of amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

ACV boosts the immune system and acts as a natural antiseptic and anti-biotic. Apples contain Vitamin C and flavonoids, which helps with wound healing and in reducing the severity of colds and flu symptoms. Apple cider also has acetic acid, plus ion-futynic lactic and propionic acids. It is the richest source of amino acids known.

Apple cider cannot cure cancer, but it is valuable to have around to help fight free radicals in the body. Beta-carotene, found in apple cider vinegar, is a powerful antioxidant, which helps to neutralize the free radicals formed in the body through oxidation. To prevent these free radicals, and to keep them in check, we need antioxidants to rid our body of these potentially dangerous compounds. Left alone, free radicals have the run of our bodies; they damage cells, which leads to cellular degeneration. The pectin in apple cider vinegar adds fiber to the diet, which helps prevent cancer, especially colon cancer. Fiber binds with certain cancer-causing compounds in the colon, and speeds up their elimination from the system.

      VITAMINS IN APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:
      . Vitamin C
      . Vitamin E
      . Vitamin A
      . Vitamin B1
      . Vitamin B2
      . Vitamin B6
      . Pro-vitamin beta-carotene
      . Vitamin P

MINERALS & TRACE ELEMENTS IN APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:
      . Potassium
      . Calcium
      . Magnesium
      . Phosphorous
      . Chlorine
      . Sodium
. Sulfur (the mineral - not the sulfa, which some people are allergic to)
      . Copper
      . Iron
      . Silicon
      . Fluorine

BENEFITS FOR YOUR DOGS (AND OTHER PETS):
Every home with dogs should have Apple Cider Vinegar. It has multiple uses for dogs, including: alleviating allergies and arthritis, and establishing correct pH balance of the system.

Added to your pet's drinking water, ACV has shown to maintain the acid/alkaline balance of the digestive tract. To find your dog's pH level, get some pH strips at your local drugstore. First thing in the morning test your dog's urine. If the strip reads from 6.5 - 7.0, then your dog's system is what it should be. If the pH is higher, then the system is too alkaline, and ACV can help to establish a correct pH balance.

  40. QUESTION:
Please help me lose weight - any tips?
Okay so I lost a huge amount of weight - pretty much became anorexic. When I started eating again - I gained double what I lost. Now - I am bigger than I ever have been. I am not sure if I am allowed to mention the names of the different plans (eating plans) that I have been on - but those have not been successful and very expensive. I found that they have to be a lifestyle change and the foods are bland with no taste. I try to watch what I eat(portion size) - I recently joined a women's only workout center..yes, i feel good after working out but I don't see any difference after going 3 times a week for 45 min each visit. I've tried different kinds of weight-loss pills. I almost feel I am predetermined to be big - my mother was and recently had stomach surgery - she is georgeous now..but I don't want to have to do that and I am not big enough yet to qualify for that surgery...please help...suggestions? ideas? NO GIMMICKS! Thank you!
And another thing - I don't eat late, I do NOT drink anything but water, and nothing is wrong with my sugar level or thyroid.

  42. QUESTION:
Will breastfeeding really help me lose weight after pregnancy?
Im 23 weeks and Ive already gained 18lbs so far so I know Im going to be a porker by the the time I finally give birth. Ive heard that breastfeeding helps with the weightloss, is this true?

If so, is there anyway I can just pump the milk and give it to the baby without actually having to breastfeed. Im not really looking to actually breastfeed and having to ween the baby. Ive seen women breastfeeding big kids and I dont think thats quite cool. I believe if the kid is old enough to ask for the breast, they are too old to be be breastfed.

Any other good weight loss tips for after pregnancy are appreciated. Im thinking about taking a cruise in November and I want to make sure my body looks hot by then. Im due in June

    • ANSWER:
Yes, so much of your body's nutrients go to the milk that you burn more because of breastfeeding. Some people tho get so hungry that they overeat and nullify that. Many are also more sedentary so they gain weight also. You still have to eat well and exercise, its not a magic bullet.

I feel ya on the not looking forward to breastfeeding but think of it this way: Its alot more work to NOT breastfeed. Its Preparing and warming &cleaning bottles, spending a ton on formula ( per container for good ones) dealing with unhappy/not sleeping babies that the formula does not agree with... Alot of babies have trouble with formula and it can lead to lots of stomach problems and sleepless nights for you. Nature meant for babies to have breastmilk so it stands to reason that they will take it better. They need the nutrients and immunities they get from you also. If they are sick all the time you will find it alot more of a pain then breastfeeding!

Do yourself a favor and at least do it for the first 3 months. It is free, always available (you just have to whip it out-no preparing and cleaning bottles) and good for the baby. Also, no one told me this and I wish they would have. It is hard at first. It hurts and you don't know how to do it and neither does the baby. But the pain and difficulty passes and its worth it. Its your choice of course, but I think you will be happier if you do it. Good luck!

  43. QUESTION:
Is this a good weight loss plan?
    Diet-
8 cups of water a day
    3 meals and 1-2 snacks a day
    lots of fruits and veggies
whole grain and whole wheat foods
plenty of beans, nuts, eggs, and lentils
not too much of dairy products (instead eat soy products)
    1 day a week free

    Exercise-
    Every other day
    strength-
pushups- 3 sets of 5-10 reps
situps- 3 sets of 10-20 reps
    cardio-
    biking, swimming, walking, jogging, etc.
    20-60 minutes
stretch before and after each workout- 5-10 minutes

I also plan to use the diet pill curvatrim that is good for women losing weight. I hope to lose 30-40 pounds in about 3 months (by Christmas)
Do you think I can do it? Can you give me any advice on what else I can do, what I should change, and tips to help me lose weight faster, easier, or more efficiently?

    Thank you.....

    • ANSWER:
You might lose weight with soy now, but it will come back and bite you in the butt with health problems and probably weight gain, later. It will screw up your endocrine system, too. ONLY use naturally fermented soy, like organic soy sauce.

To lose weight the fastest with exercise:
rebound on trampoline or safe rebounder every day to detox you of toxins that cling to extra water weight - helps get rid of weight, toxins and cellulite, and tones EVERYTHING. More effective than running, and better on your joints.

Body wraps can help shift fat but you HAVE to be diligent to drink water and avoid fat, caffeine and sugar or the fat just re-deposits. Benefits: shifts toxins out, compresses tissue so it is firmer and smaller than before, now that the toxins and their buffering excess water weight have been transferred out. The cells actually "stick back together" closer than before.

Beware of too much cardio, it teaches your body to use and store fat effectively unless you diet brutally.

Use a program like Jorge Cruise's 12-second sequence or Rob Poulos Fat Burning Furnace or Shapely Secrets intensive isometrics to really, really push your muscles. This will pump up your fat burning more than cardio, and it will pump it up all the time. If you do sit ups, please, please be kind to your neck. Do comprehensive workouts so you don't get out of balance.

Your water plan and multiple meal plan usually works great for people at this stage of dieting, and your free day is highly recommended by many experts. To lose weight at a consistent pace, you'll want to keep your calorie intake in check at each meal, while at the same time making sure you get plenty of calories each day to build muscle. Digestive enzymes will help prevent undigested material from pooching out your belly (soy inhibits digestion, and can slowly lead to a pooch. So do most whole grain products that are available today, because of the way they are prepared. Stick with sprouted whole grain breads to minimize this problem). Take high quality probiotics.

Do a metabolic typing test. Some people lose weight much, much easier when they eat according to their type. You can eat all the lean chicken you want, but if you need fatty lamb to balance your metabolism, you aren't going to lose weight very easily eating lean chicken, and you'll feel crappier than you need to, to boot. There are tests online, look for Dr. Wolcott's, he's one of the foremost guys in the field. Dr. Mercola is another resource that is available easily online. Or try your library or Amazon to get books to help you do this. Look for Wolcott's book on Metabolic Typing, Mercola's Total Health books, Rudolf Wiley's Biobalance I and II.

This one is particularly helpful: http://pcos.insulitelabs.com/blog/index.php/?cat=12

Does anyone else have tips for PCOS diets?

    • ANSWER:
Some other women with PCOS that I've talked to have also said that they found taking Glucophage was of help to them in the treatment of their PCOS. I also have found that drinking a lot of water can help with weight loss.

Another site that I've gone to before for information about PCOS and they also have online boards at the site and also groups for the e-mail is at: http://www.pcosupport.org (they have an elist to help those that are trying to lose weight as well)

  46. QUESTION:
    Little Weight Loss Questions?
Alright, so I posted something similar to this about a month or two back, and I didn't really get the answers I was looking for. I figured I would try again.

I've decided on a life-long career, a U.S. Army Helicopter Pilot. Me, being only as tall as 5'3, have to fit into a certain weight category. I figure within the next few years I may grow an inch or two, but I might not at the same time. Anyway, for my current height (5'3) the weight requirements for women are anywhere between 107 and 141 lbs. I'm telling you right now that I weight about seventy to eighty pounds MORE than 140.

I have four years to take the weight off, and I figure that I can do it if I really, really put my mind to it. My new routine has been going on for the last month, and I still haven't gotten much results. All I have done for the last year is drink water - no lemonade, iced tea, soda, etc., and still not a whole heck of a result - maybe five to ten pounds.

So, my idea is that I'm going to work on our elliptical for fifteen to thirty minutes per day, watch what I eat more, still only drink water, still stay away from fast food, keep going to the Gym, etc.

I wanted to know if anybody had any little tips. Just small things that may or may not have helped you along the way. Maybe just small little exercises that you think made a difference, so on and so forth.

I'd appreciate if you didn't just reply with websites, because I hate having to scan through pages and look for an answer.

    Thanks in advance. <3

    I Need Weight Loss Help!?
I've been trying to lose weight and have been doing everything I can think of, I go to the gym daily, eat less, eat healthier, and also only drink water and nothing seems to be working. I know it is harder for women to lose weight but this is getting frustrating. I'm hoping to lose 15lbs and was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice?

  48. QUESTION:
What is the best weight loss site/forum? ?
I am starting my "quest" to losing weight once & for all. I have reached my all time high! I was never fat growing up, in HS or even when I got married. The last five years, I have gained all my weight. I have lost & then gained it back due to food addiction. I know if I really want to lose weight, I will although I would like a little support & tips. What is a good weight loss site ? Maybe one I can meet friends too struggling with the same thing as most of my friends are skinny & don't really know what I am going through. I have been on both ends of the spectrum as I have been the "skinny " woman & the "fat" woman now. I see how overweight people are looked at differently & treated differently. Yes, we did this to ourselves [getting fat] but we still are people. Thanks so much in advance.

  49. QUESTION:
    Trying to conceive with pcos.?
I found out that I have PCOS when I was 15 years old so I have known for a while that I will be having trouble conceiving. Recently my husband and I decided that we are financially stable enough to start trying to have a baby.
I was on the shot and have now switched to birth control pills to regulate my period for a couple of months before we can even begin trying. I'm going to be taking those until April and that's when we will officially begin trying for a baby.
I was wondering if there was anything I could to in the meantime to increase my chances. I could definitely stand to lose some weight, so what are good tips for weight loss for women with PCOS?
And is there anything else I can do in the meantime to make it possible for me to get pregnant easily?
    Thank you so much.

    • ANSWER:
I was officially diagnosed with PCOS just last year and told I would have trouble conceiving, but I know I've had it since I was 14 due to several burst cysts and one solid dermoid cyst that had to be removed from my left ovary 6 years ago. They put me on metformin (made me sick!) to regulate my hormones/period because I finally stopped taking the pill because of all I've read about the risks of extra estrogen. They told me I'd have to be on clomid if I wanted to start trying to conceive.

To be honest, I stopped seeing the doctor because it pissed me off that they only think of drugs to help you. I looked up natural remedies for hormone balance and minerals that get you ready for conception. I took evening primrose oil capsules for 4 months, increased my potassium, magnesium, calcium and zinc (hubby too), and we fell pregnant by accident--hadn't started trying yet.

I can tell you that the evening primrose oil alone made me feel 110% better, my moods leveled out and for the first time in a decade, I was having regular periods--less cramps, 28 days to the day cycles that I never got being on the pill (which I took religiously).

Best advice I can give you is to eat a balanced diet, drink lots of water, keep your stress down, exercise regularly and have fun having sex.

  50. QUESTION:
why do women like to puke more than men?
I just finished reading a question from some girl who actually wants us to give her tips on how to puke more...she apparently enjoys it.
I notice how with the weight loss crowd, women seem to dominated the eat and vomit genre...why do women enjoy throwing up soooo much?
i think its an orgasmic experience for them...what gives, Babs?
yeh ava i don't think anyone enjoys puking either but she wrote"i enjoy puking"
i'm getting opinions from you folks stating that women don't enjoy it...yet these women say they do....and they enjoy it more than a weight loss program involving exercise and fasting.
