QUESTION:
What's the best weight loss supplement for men ages 21-25?
I know at age 21 my metabolism is still pretty high, but I'm at my wits end. I've tried Hydroxycut, it worked, but not as well as I'd like. I've also tried the mineral root, Hoodia, which did curb my appetite but had no metabolic enhancers. I need something to provide energy, BURN FAT, and will help build tone. I don't need to loose much, maybe 15-20 lbs... any advice will help!!-
ANSWER:
I've tried Hydroxycut, and I'm not sure if you're looking at the Ephedra free formula or not. I have taken other supplements like the original MetaboLife and Stacker, and Xenedrine, and have gotten mixed results. If you're looking to supplement your diet plan, you'll most likely want a good metabolic booster and appetite suppressant. I'd suggest taking a look at Herbalean. It does have Ephedra, which was unbanned this year by the FDA - so it's legal in the US again. It also has Hoodia for the appetite suppression, so the combination works VERY well for me.
I've been taking it for a couple months now, and the Hoodia keeps me from snacking and gets rid of the sweet cravings, while the Ephedra gives me a good energy boost through the whole day.
It's made by the original makers of MetaboLife, and they've improved the formula with Hoodia and 77 trace minerals and herbs. It's also an extended release formula, so you won't get the jitters from the Ephedra like you would with MetaboLife.

QUESTION:
Expertise on fat-burning/weight loss health supplements???
Hi Everybody!I am asking anyone, although I appreciate the input from the ladies since I am one:
I'm looking for a fat-burning/weight loss-esque supplement. Not anything unhealthy or that makes you jittery. More herbal and helpful.
I work a sedentary job and live in LA! With 2-3 hours of commute time EVERY DAY exercise is possible, but I could use an energy boost and a little extra help.
I am in no way looking for some man-made chemical but rather a mixture of something natural?
Thanks friends!
-
ANSWER:
There are no pills that you can take that will help you "increase your metabolism and burn fat." Caffeine is a good substance to utilize if you are looking for some assistance. It will help increase fatty acid mobilization and you'll be able to prolong your workouts thus creating a higher caloric deficit.

QUESTION:
safe weight loss pillls for men?
my boyfriend is dissatisfied with his weight and although he goes to the gym often, he feels that he is not losing any fat. He has been asking me what kinds of pills for weight loss are safe, since he knows that the FDA does not regulate supplements. Does any one know anything about how to know what is safe and what is not ? Or is anyone currently using any?thank you
he works out as much as he can, but he is in college so there are some days where he is too busy, or those nights when he is stuck eating whatever is in his room while staying up late studying. When he works out he tries to run, and also lifts weights. He has always had trouble running being short of breath, but he is still trying to do it more and more.-

QUESTION:
Natural Steroids. OTC Supplements? Short-term use. Weight Loss and Muscle Growth?
I know there are a bunch of legal steroids sold as supplements at ‘health food stores’ and I know that long term use and use of steroid-steroids is bad for your health but what would be good for Short Term, less than a month, usage of OTC Supplements do?Would they spur weight loss in the next month?
Would they help build muscle or are they all placebo effect?
If you take enhancement products, what ACTUALLY WORK?
I will be working out like mad over the next month and would like a boost to help me along.
If I remember correctly, DHE or DEH is a supplement that boost sexual feelings and muscle growth… Would that help?
I believe that they make a formula for men and a formula for women…
No one can talk me out of trying supplements so PLEASE help me do this safely.
NO TROLLS.
-
ANSWER:
steroids do not make you lose weight they make you extremely hungry. what they do is give you a lot of protein and carbohydrates needed to build muscle which if you do not work out a lot will actually make you gain a lot of weight. if you want to lose weight look at something that curbs appetite increases energy and speeds up metabolism.

QUESTION:
who is the media to decide what traits of men and women are desirable, and which are not?
There are those that try to kill themselves for the sake of looking a certain way, expensive surgeries, fad weight loss programs, and disorders such as bulimia and anorexia nervosia are at an all time high. Can the media be blamed for the complexes and hazards associated with its ideals of beauty or can it be chalked up to ignorant masses misinterpreting these generic images? Some might argue that "the people on fad diets just want to get healthier." But I would disagree, as people who want healthiness use healthy habits, such as NOT using fad diets and alleged miracle weight loss supplements; the target of these fad diets are those with low self-esteem who think it will make them beautiful, not necessarily healthy. For example, a product called "Lipozene" on the market is allegedly supposed to make you lose weight in under a few weeks, but they also state that 78% of the weight lost was pure body fat. What is the other twelve%? water perhaps? But its clearly not something worth risking your health is it? At the end of every fad weight loss commercial, they list the risk of using the product in tiny letters at the bottom of the screen, some of which include the necessity of medical attention and even death.
Is beauty such a thing worth dying for?-
ANSWER:
Nice little rant, but it seems rather presumptuous. Who are YOU to act indignant on behalf of the entire population? To some people, it is completely worth it to die early, if that is the price to pay for beauty.
I am probably going to die early, not because of an appearance obsession, but because I like burgers, bacon, cheese, and french fries. Not everyone understands this decision. Likewise, I don't understand other people being willing to die for beauty, and yet I find a way to acknowledge, even respect their decision.
Live and let die, as the case may be. Let everyone find their own happiness, even if you don't admire their choices.

QUESTION:
Is it okay for women to consume men's diet supplements?
I'm on a diet. I recently bought a weight loss cereal which is actually for men. One of the ingredients is L-carnatine. I ate this cereal a couple of times already, but now I worry wether this product might have a bad effect on my body, considering the male and female body have different hormones and that the product IS for men only(d'OH). Or is it?
would it cause hormone disorders and extra acne?-
ANSWER:
L-cartinine is an amino acid, toted as a weight loss supplement, it is totally safe for women. You consume L-cartinine every time you eat protein. Most supplement's made for men are totally safe for women. I would not take a libido booster made for men though.

QUESTION:
Will this diet make me lose weight and gain muscle?
I'm currently using a combination of things to lose weight and gain muscle. I am 6'2 and 194lbs.VPX Meltdown: For weight loss
http://www.vitacost.com/VPX-Meltdown?csrc=GPF-610764712004Wheybolic Extreme 60: For protein/muscle gain
http://www.thesupplementrating.com/listing.php?id=985The Atkins Diet: For weight loss
GNC Mega Men Dietary Supplement: To make up for any lost nutrients under atkins
Is this a poor combination? Will the lack of carbs retard muscle growth? I've been doing this for about 10 days and am starting to see some results. I only have 4 more weeks until Spring Break, so I'm hoping this will achieve some results by then. I do a pretty extreme workout about 5 days a week which mostly consists of heavy lifting. I don't like to do all that much cardio because I get asthma, but I do walk around my campus about 2-3 miles a day.

QUESTION:
can it be bad to take to many weight lifing supplements at a time and fat loss pills?
k so i'm in the football conditioning class at my high school and man some of those people in there are huge. I've never had muscle on my frame. i'm about 6-3 160 pounds and if i remember right 17% percent body fat last checked. since being in there my bicepts have grown a little, lost some weight and my belly has tightened up. So i've been looking on the computer and i think i wanna take creatine, glutamine pills, zma, amino acid pills and i wanna find something to make my blood veins more noticable and than i wanna take oxyElite for fat burning but only do that for a short time since i'm not that fat in the first place. Is that a concocktion for problems or will i be fine or what can happen-
ANSWER:
Oxyelite is an uncontrolled product that cannot prove the claims they make.
Unfortunately current law allows the sale of these unproven items as long as no one gets hurt.
These thermongenic "diet pills" are no more effective in raising metabolism than eating lots of pepper, garlic or cayenne powder, and chili powder. These supplement manufacturers are using human guinea pigs (you) for these products. As long as no one gets sick or dies, and they don't get fined or shut down they will keep making and selling this junk. Whether it works or not.
I am in no way a supporter of "big government" but hopefully the FDA will be given the authority some day soon to shut down these con men.

QUESTION:
How cut can I get in 2 months?
I am a 22-year-old male and I have 10 weeks until I get married and go on a honeymoon to the coast in August. I have been weight training and running for the past year, but with 10 weeks to go, its crunch time. I am 6'2", weigh 192, and have a large physical frame. I currently lift 3 days a week, with cardio 4 days, running 5-10 miles on off days (2 days), and 1-3 miles on lifting days (2 days). I would like to lose 10-15 pounds of fat and get CUT for the occasion! I have been considering weight loss pills, but am inexperienced with supplements and am unsure how I should change my workout and diet in that situation. What should I do over the next 10 weeks to get in the best shape and meet my goals? Also, if recommending weight-loss supplements, which is the best for men looking for my results?-
ANSWER:
Your routine is great, but do NOT take weight supplement pills. They only provide fake higher rates of metabolism, and soon your body will become accostumed to those, leaving it weak on its own.
Instead of takiing weight loss pills, you should take multi-vitamin pills.10-15 pounds in 10 weeks is fairly easy, most importantly, just watch your diet, and up your cardio (as cardio reduces overall fat, and weight training does the bulk work).
Another alternative: google " High Intensity Training ", H.I.T.
Good luck!

QUESTION:
I am beginning a weight loss formula. Lets see how it works!?
I found this new product today at PC Green in Malibu, originally I was looking for Hoodia and then I saw this product seemed like it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It relieves excessive appetite, water retention, and metabolic imbalance. Directions are simple..you spray it underneath your tongue 15 mins before you eat. It cost me .00.Before we get going I want to tell you all details. So I am 26 years old I just got married last month and I have noticed almost 10 pounds of weight gain since I met my husband. When he and I began dating I was 108 and now I am about 117 on a good day without eating a lot of salt and bread. I am 5'3 and love to eat salty foods. Ladies!! lets face it when we find "the one" we get comfortable and we don't need to beat ourselves up 5 days a week in the gym to full fill ourselves and become more confident. I had a man who told me I beautiful everyday and that maybe I should put some pounds on...I thought hey what the heck forget the lettuce wrap I am going for the burrito!! ha ha Although I eat like a bird and eat every 2 to 3 hours I find myself choosing bad foods and fun yummy foods! UGH! Why do they always have to be the best tasting!!!!!!! Working 40hrs a week and sitting on a desk and doing nothing but computer and accounting work is also not helping, I also get hungry very often and its not good when I am not burning calories. I literally SIT for 8 hours and by the time I am off work...I do not have energy to work out so I need to use supplements that will give me that energy..but it pushes me.
Any who..that was a quick snip it of my current life. Although my husband likes my weight, I do not...I want to drop to 106 by the holidays so I am able to eat and gain two pounds and be okay. I am going to start by working out 3-4 times a week which includes cardio and lifting. I plan on having a 1500 calorie diet and on the weekends maybe 2,000 which means I will work out for 2 hrs before.
Well lets hope for the best!!!
-
ANSWER:
Congratulations on the marriage! I hope you two have a happy life together!
However, I suggest against using this product you help you lose weight. Seems like a quick fix, so of course you'll be excited to use it. But quick fixes are never permanent. As soon as you're done with the product, the weight will come back. The only way to guarantee permanent weight loss is by eating less food and working out. If you work out 4 - 5 days a week, for 45 minutes a day, and cut back on the salty/junk foods just a little bit, and keep your calories at 1500, you will lose weight without the product.
And, your weight at your height is honestly very light as it is. 108 lbs, would put you almost underweight, so don't worry so much! ;D

QUESTION:
for personal trainers or people who have worked with one!?
I have my first hour with a personal trainer today. I have a couple questions. I have some very pre-conceived notions so maybe someone can help me out!1- do personal trainers only know their program, or are they open to other programs (diet and exercise)
2- will a personal trainer give the same workout to a fat woman, thin woman, inbetween woman?
3- will they give me the same workout as a man?
4- are they big advocates of weight loss supplements?
5- Any other tid bits would be great!
Just for your info...... I am 29 years old, 5'2, 125 lbs. worked out since a teenager. Fifteen pounds lighter since I have had three children. A little bit of a health nut when it comes to eating...... and very active. I have exercised in every which way since i was 17 years old.... I enjoy getting books fromt the library and gleaning info from them. I just don't want to go there and be frustrated that this young kid who thinks he know it all... really does not. thanks!
-
ANSWER:
A good personal trainer will tailor the workout to your capabilities and then increse the intensity as you become more fit. They are a very good source of nutrition information and usually recommend dietary supplements over diet supplements. They should find out what you want to do, whether it to lose weight, tone, bulk up, increase stamina or whatever and then tailor the workout to your goals.Personal trainers love people like you who already understand and appreciate the importance and health benefits of fitness.

Hydroxycut? Ripped fuel? Xenadrine? I've seen these at GNC...Which one is best to take for overweight people who need to lose weight quickly. I"m 29 years old and in the last two years I've gaind almost 50 lbs. I have an event in five months that I need to go to and look sharp. I'm watching my diet - and excersing when I can. I just need a little extra push. What supplement do you reccomend? Any others that I may have not mentioned?-
ANSWER:
My husband has used the Hydroxycut in the past and had results. It's supposed to help add that extra boost with diet and exercise. Also a body cleanse helps too (One with fiber) it takes a lot of the nasty stuff built up in your intestines out and that can help you loose weight because your body can function more properly. QUESTION:
Does the diet industry only targets women or men or both?
I know this is not my imagination but why do I mostly see women doing ads and commercials for diet pills, weight loss programs, and light, low-fat products?Every time I see a tv commercial about diets, diet supplements, lap bands, and plastic surgery, I hardly see any men doing any of these types of ads and commercials. It looks like we women were designed to not have an appetite. Even in magazines and on tv I see women in ads that equal hunger and food with "guilt" or "sin."
So does the diet industry only targets men or women? Or both? If so why?
Or is it because we women were design to attract the opposite sex?
Because as summer approaches, we women are supposed to wear bikinis and so bikinis require a thin body, because wearing skimpy clothing and bikinis require a thin body and that we have to dress like that to attract guys? I know they are not gonna be attracted to a starving Ethiopian and neither to a morbidly obese woman, but why does this happen?-
ANSWER:
Women want to look thin to attract men, because men are visual creatures.Men are not targeted nearly as much for weight loss because women are not too particular about how nice a guy's body looks.
Ergo, they should be working on a pill to make guys into gentlemen who are fun and respectful.

QUESTION:
six pack? true or false?
Hi,I have been my whole life in sports and have always been in good shape. However, when you hit 35 you start getting some extra weight on your belly you want to get rid of. And although I do many sets for the abs, I still can not get it this highly advertised six pack.
I see many commercials when they show men and women who have those great abs. They say that if you only follow this program or if you buy this machine, yhou will be the same. I think it is all bullshit.
I believe that in order to really have extremely flat stomach, you gotta take some weight loss vitamins/supplements to dry yourself out. I believe this is what they do.Unless someone here knows some other secrets/programs/exercises which would effectively melt down that little fat on the belly. Thanks

QUESTION:
the real training of a true champion?
What has happened in the era of weight training? Everyday supplement after supplement, scam after scam, steroids after steroids. Where is the natural strength of men and natural health habit. We look at these roided out men on the magazines and these drugged out woman with very harsh diets on the magazines and we want that? Please? NATURAL BODYBUILDERS back then had it all. A good physique, a healthy body inside and out, and strength, and most lived up to about 90 yrs old STILL looking good and strong. Can't you see its all about MONEY. You don't need 8-10 meals a day, you only need three good HEALTHY meals a day. For weight loss, you don't need supplements and what not. You NEED TO FAST. The body is always on two states, either your eating or not eating. What happens when you don't eat you get skinny. Now ofcourse if you fail to eat you'll look unhealthy and sick...THAT IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. This is how you do it. You eat your 3 or 4 healthy meals rich in all vitamins. But you only fast 1-2 times per week.Example. Lets say your going to fast on monday.
Monday morning you have breakfast, nice full meal.
later on you have a good rich lunch
then at dinner you have a good nice dinner.
FROM THERE lets say its 6 or 7 pm you start your fasting
you wont eat anything until the following day(tuesday) at 7pm.
Now you MUST always drink water in this fasting state. If you are just starting off and can't handle it, you may eat fresh fruits to fight of the stomach emptiness but later on keep it very low. Have a healthy body. This works, it really does, Its a shame these so called helpers of fitness really want to reduce your money and not your belly...Good luck
nathan, fasting is not bad, its actually healthy, look it up. Do you even know whats in your whey....look up "the truth about bodybuilding supplements" on youtube...you'll see what I am getting at. And I agree with that other comment on milk and squat rack...the basic excercises build the most out of a physique...Then after maybe about 3 to 4 years of dedication on basics, you can move up to isolation excercises...if your goal is both building a physique and strength with weights that is. Im happy your in shape, keep it up....All you need is a good breakfast of some good old fashion EGGS. Thats my protein hehe-
ANSWER:
Guys want to be huge. You can't get huge without perfect timing of nutrients. I'm big now all natural too (I use whey protein). I used to be small, 5'8 125 pounds 2% bodyfat, I'm now 5'8 175 pounds 5%. I don't know why you talk about fasting, that shit's bad. I never do that and I maintain a low bodyfat by running and lifting weights.

QUESTION:
Anyone out there know about Usana?
Hi. I just have a quick question about this stuff. My boyfriend's friend is an associate of Usana. The package is 0 to help with weight loss. He said that the people he's sold it to have lost from 10 pounds to almost 100 pounds. As an average sized woman (size 11 jeans, medium tshirt, curvy body) i want to try this out, but i know that its hard for women to lose weight. For men its easier, i forget why. but yeah. If i do decide to take this product i'll be going to the gym (im going to the gym even if i don't get this stuff), and i'll see what happens. but my only concern is if it doesn't work. Many people say it works, and according to the salesperson, he said its the top of the line diet supplement right now. Please let me know what you think, and what is the best choice.btw: here's the website(for the United States): http://products.usana.com/en/products/us/

ANSWER:
HiI am from Singapore and I have been using USANA products for a year now. USANA products are of TOP Quality.
Supplementation in current days is getting more and more important as our cells are subject to Free Radical attack every second, due to our lifestyle, the food we eat (over-processed food) and lack of exercise. Even when you exercise, there are more Free Radicals attack and your body needs to have the right nutrients to support it.
To achieve a healthy body with desired weight, you need to do some exercise as well. The product recommended could be the USANA RESET. It is full of nutrients and has a Low Glycemic index and will reduce your craving.
I do not believe in Miracles but believe that with the right supplementation and a healthy lifestyle, we will have a healthy body.
Btw, USANA is the only direct marketing company that received 5-star rating in the 4th edition Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements.

QUESTION:
Help on dietary supplements?!?
Im young, and i feel like i am over weight, is it a bad idea to take a dietary supplement? im 12 years old, im 140 pounds, but im 5'6". is it deadly to take different dietary supplements at the same time? i hear of vitamins in supplements that are healthy like , •Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps keep your red blood cells and nerves healthy. As people grow older, some have trouble absorbing vitamin B12 naturally found in food. Instead, they can choose foods, like fortified cereals, that have this vitamin added or use a B12 supplement.
•Calcium. Calcium works with vitamin D to keep bones strong at all ages. Bone loss can lead to fractures in both older women and men. Calcium is found in milk and milk products (fat-free or low-fat is best), canned fish with soft bones, dark-green leafy vegetables like spinach, and foods with calcium added.
•Vitamin D. Some people’s bodies make enough vitamin D if they are in the sun for 10 to 15 minutes at least twice a week. But, if you are older, you may not be able to get enough vitamin D that way. Try adding vitamin D-fortified milk and milk products, vitamin D-fortified cereals, and fatty fish to your diet, and/or use a vitamin D supplement.
•Vitamin B6. This vitamin is needed to form red blood cells. It is found in potatoes, bananas, chicken breasts, and fortified cereals. Would it be bad to take different supplements that benefited me like this? or should i just take the supplement with the vitamin i would normally get least and get the rest out of food.-
ANSWER:
Lol, don't worry about supplements, your too young for them (most bottle say 18+ on them). If you want to loose weight, then do it by eating less and exercising more. Your too young for weightlifting, since if you start too early if will screw up your hormones, but don't be afraid to go out and run or play ball with friends, and try to eat less. Also, try to limit fast food to once a week, although once a month is best. Eating a fairly balanced diet will get you all the nutrients you need anyways, try to eat more fruits and veggies and less fatty foods like soda or candy. You shouldn't worry too much about your diet though, but make healthier choices and know when your full, and eat when you are really hungry not just bored (I'm guilty of going through a full bag of chips when I'm bored, or watching TV, or playing online, but I usually just chew gum). Again, your too young for weightlifting, but you can always do push ups, pull ups, sit ups, and dips. I had problems with obesity at your age, and I weighted about the same, but I was shorter. Loosing weight is mostly a mental challenge, as actually going out to jog for 20 minutes or eating a salad might make you feel like crap, but you should know its good for you and try your hardest to achieve your goals.Hope I helped =P

QUESTION:
Anyone lost 60 pounds in thirty days? How?
Okay, I know it isn't healthy. But, I am determined. I have made dramatic lifestyle changes and lost 35 pounds in the last three months. However, I want to lose the next 60 in three months.I currently work out at the gym for about two hours a day. I take appetite suppressants. I am monitored weekly by a doctor. However, I want to push it up and lose 60 pounds in the next three months.
That is five pounds a week, maintaining that amount of weight loss will be difficult. I already know this. I know about muscle mass and ketones. I just really have to lose this weight before my man gets home.
I only eat raw veggies and an occasional fruit. I take a ton of supplements. Anyone know what I can do to boost this any further?
P.S. Please do not post advertising your sight. I am not going to buy any "cure all" weight loss programs.
Oops! I meant three months!-
ANSWER:
Most I lost was 15 in a week, but I had a good 30 to lose.
If you're GROSSLY overweight, you can. Proper diet & exercise. But if you're close to your weight & want that skinny model look - uhuh.

QUESTION:
Hair loss, synthroid, HCG. HELP! PLEASE!!!!!?
I am so frustrated... SO frustrated. I did the diet HCG a few months ago. One round of 26-days. Right after that, my hair started to fall out like crazy. In chunks... and hasn't stopped. In fact, my eyelashes are falling out as well and my hair is at least 1/2 as thick as it used to be and i have also been gaining rapid weight. I went to the doc to get my blood and thyroid checked for reasons this is happening. I have been experiencing stress / anxiety lately these past few months, but i have been much more stressed out in my life before now and never lost hair. In my blood results, my TSH level was a bit high, so they decided to put me on Synthroid (1-week ago),,, however now im researching it, and realizing a common side effect of Synthroid is hair loss and anxiety?!!!! I thought that is why i was going on it, was to stop the hair loss due to having hypothyroidism??? I have gone to 3 docs and a dermatologists. They all give me b.s. answers, but i can't afford to lose anymore of my hair and am considering taking myself off the synthroid... Especially because i don't want to be on it the rest of my life, and read that once you do go off, you lose even more hair. I am taking every supplement none to man that is supposed to help with hair loss, and nothing is helping. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!! I want to cry every time i shower and see the hair ball in the drain, and when i now have to wrap my hair elastic around my hair 3 times instead of two. Please..im desperate....-
ANSWER:
I'm sorry this is happening to you.
Don't ever diet again. Eat healthy foods and drink much water. (I think this is a hard lesson for you to learn to never diet again.) Don't eat any supplements other than your doctor gives you.
Don't brush your hair and don't wash it too much. Don't us chemical products in your hair. And don't wear anything in your hair. All those things can increase damaging your hair.
Listen to your doctors. And hang on. Your hair will grow back again eventelly.

QUESTION:
What diet should I go on?
I'm 17, male and 6'3. I'm looking to lose about ten or fifteen pounds body fat and gain some muscle as well. I recently joined a gym and have been working out 6 times a week, and drinking protein supplements after workouts. Already I am starting to see a slight gain in muscle, but I now want to go on a healthy diet that will help start the weight loss.My ideal diet would be something designed for men and that not only will help weight loss, but will also help me put on muscle, but one designed for both men and women would be fine too as long as it works well for both genders.
Any recommendations?
-
ANSWER:
Well to continue putting on muscle but losing fat is certainly possible but it will mostly reside in your diet.. You can start adding in some Cardio routines on your off days (Running, Sprinting, etc) that will burn off the fat but without the proper diet your task will be ALOT harder..Be warned though, if you overtrain and you do not have the proper diet you body can and sometimes will feed off muscle to fuel your workouts so make sure you stay on HIGH protein diets, high fiber, and make sure your getting plenty of Carbs to fuel your workouts...
The more water you drink the less water your body will retain, keep low on the sodium.. /fyiGood Luck

QUESTION:
To Answer about 80% of the questions on here?
Here are answers to about 80% of the questions on here, they get very repetitive and people dont take the time to do a search to see if their question has been asked..so here you go...........You cant spot reduce fat so no you cant just lose fat on your stomach, you lose it all over.
Creatine is for energy. Your body naturally produces it and is used in ATP ( your bodies energy source) The supplement will add a little water weight but will help you work out longer and harder. It does not actually make your muscles bigger
Whey protein can be found cheap at Wal-Mart ( about .00 for a 2 lb tun) Your body can only handle about 20-25 grams at a time. Your body does not store protein so overuse will convert into fat.
Carbs are essential to your body and brain function. Cutting carbs will put your body in Ketosis in which you will burn through protein as fuel (which is not recommended). Carbs are not bad and any diet that has you on a low carb diet will ultimately fail.
Yes you can do to much cardio. If you do cardio without resistance training you will burn muscle as well as fat, and that will slow your metabolism down. 1 lb of lean muscle will burn 50 calories a day so 10 lbs of lean muscle will burn 500 calories a day. Resistance training is important.
The Acai Berry is good for antioxidents and some nutrients, it is not a good weight loss system.
BMI=Crap, dont go by your bmi because it doesnt take into account age or muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you went by BMI and bodybuilder with a low body fat percentage would be obses by BMI standards, dont worry about BMI
Caloric intake:
Women - 2000/day
Men- 2800/day

QUESTION:
I need help with my English research paper?
I need help with my English research paper! I have almost 5 full pages double spaced. It's about diet pills and persuading adults not to use them. Can anyone tell me what else I can do to make it better? Some overweight adults think that gaining a few extra pounds here and there have become acceptable over the years. They have in mind that the extra weight will just melt away when desired by popping in a few diet pills. Because of people like this, diet pills have become a multi-billion dollar industry. The weight loss industry offers many quick fix solutions that do not always deliver what they guarantee. The big problem with diet pills is that every single one of them have risks and side effects. Risks will often outweigh the benefits that the user will get from the pills.
Many of us wonder how diet pills really work. Different kinds work different ways. Some diet pills increase the body’s metabolism, helping the body burn more fat. Some diet pills will suppress the appetite, preventing the individual from feeling hungry. Other diet pills contain diuretics, which prevent the excess retention of water in the body. Finally, another type can work by removing fat from the person’s body.
The main ingredients in diet pills were slowly exposed one at a time starting in the 1930’s. Dinitrophenol, or DNP, was first to be reported by two young physicians at Stanford University. They took notes on this element only to find that it possessed a rather extraordinary trait, the ability to speed up the human metabolism. After this information was announced, it quickly appeared creating diet pills across the country. As time went on, fatal fevers and blindness were reported. The U.S Office of Drug Control found a link between the chemical and the deaths. Soon after, the drugs were taken off of the market in 1938. DNP is not a natural occurring element, is it man made. It was originally made for scientific purposes to help with experiments and to make wood preservatives, organic chemicals and dyes. It is now considered by the U.S government to be an environmental toxin.
Since the diet pill industry could no longer use Dinitrophenol, they had to find another ingredient that could perform weight loss miracles. Amphetamines were originally synthesized in 1887, but it wasn’t until about the mid-1940’s that researchers found a medical use for them. They were originally used in over-the-counter inhalants for nasal congestion. Amphetamines were no longer used for a high, or for medication, but as an appetite suppressant. In the early 1970’s, doctors prescribed a type of amphetamine called Benzedrine for weight loss. Those who took the pills found it easy to refrain from eating and enjoyed feeling happier and more energetic. If Amphetamines are not consumed in the right proportion, they can be very dangerous.
Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) is an ingredient that is used in many over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription cough and cold medications as a decongestant. It is also the main ingredient in OTC weight loss products. It is said to be safe when taken correctly. That means that it cannot be taken in any other higher doses than recommended or combined with any other medications containing PPA.
Many of us have heard the motto, “It’s too good to be true.” That saying can often be referred to diet pills. Different bodies react in different ways. For some bodies, swallowing capsules everyday just isn’t enough. Once people realize that it isn’t for them, they have already wasted money. Sure, there are some supplements that are effective, but that does not always guarantee a healthy diet. All of the pills have side effects and many serious health risks. Most diet pills contain caffeine which not only speeds up your metabolism, but your heart rate. These heart problems can very easily cause an extremely fit and healthy adult to have a severe heart attack. All diet pills weaken your immune system so that your body cannot fight off any dangerous bacteria causing you to become frail, resulting in hair loss and less elasticity in the skin. Other risks that may occur is the possibility of anxiety and addiction.
Linda Zimdars, a 30 year old woman just had her second, and final child. She wanted to get rid of her baby fat from being pregnant, so she tried a new diet supplement called Lipospa that might help her lose 10 pounds. Linda began taking the doses once every morning until she became her desired weight. When she quit taking the pills, she instantly gained her weight back. So she bought more pills. Even after maintaining a healthy meal and exercise plan, Linda realized the only way to keep her preferred weight was to take the supplements everyday. After 3 years of this, Lipospa was discontinued. Linda tried other brands, but none of them worked for her. Her body had become immune to Lipospa because she had taken it for so many years. She is now over 300 pounds.

QUESTION:
Colon Cleansing: laxatives vs suppliments?
I have been reading up a lot on the whole colon cleansing process. I am 28 years old and about 50 pounds overweight and was looking at starting some sort of weight loss regimen to slim down a bit for summer. All of the supplements seem so expensive and the natural cleansing remedies (sea salt dissolved in 2 qt water) seem far from appealing! Would I get the same result if I just took a bunch of laxatives or inserted a suppository? I have felt so terrible for months now, having every blood test known to man, returning "within normal limits" results for all tests. My body aches as if I have the flu, I am weak and have little to no energy, headaches, fatigue, but when I try to sleep I toss and turn most of the night. Could these be signs that I need a colon cleansing? I was considering the lap band (if insurance approves it, that is) if this "colon cleansing" didn't return any results....Any personal stories on these topics would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!-
ANSWER:
Kristian, a colon cleanse is a total waste of money. You can simple add more fiber into your diet and that will correct any slow motility rate that you have. Being only 50 pounds over means that you are not a candidate for a lap band. What you need to do is alter the way you eat. Start by stopping the consumption of all fried foods, any food made from white flour or enriched flour, all lunch meats, all sugars, all candy, and sodas. This will drop weight for you without having to do anything else. By just walking you will increase your caloric burn that will continue to cause you to lose weight. If you were to take up weight lifting, doesn't have to be heavy weights, this will also cause you do drop in weight. Talk to your doctor about this but these changes should help you in many areas.

QUESTION:
The employer from hell? Help? I would like to know how to explain myself when put on the spot ?
I went for a job interview and the man was a complete jerk towards me. I question why he even put the job offer out in the first place. it was for a health food store manager. When i went into the interview his first question was what kind of supplements do I take. I said One a Day, he said they are all junk, and then starting drilling me about what a bad vitamin I take. He then asks me about weight loss? I don't know why... I said that I was on weight watchers in the past, he then again put me down for that too.? He asked me why i had some many gaps in my resume. I told him cause I was caring for my grandmother. I don't think he believed me. He asked me If i knew how to multi task. I told him I did. He asked me if I knew anything about healthy food which i do just not to where i guess he wants me to. he asked about my living arragement? I told him I live with my mom. He says well your mother shops here why don't you? I was not sure what to say to that so there was this huge pause....I told him my mom was a health nut. I think that wss the straw that broke the camels back in this interview he got all red in the face and said " How Rude"! I said what? All shocked. I mean what did i say that was so wrong. He then came down on my hard saying all these horrible things about me to the point where I started to cry..He judged me on my eating habits told me that I'm putting posion in my body etc. By the end of the interview i was in tears. This man said some really hurtful things to me. I tried to redeme myself and asked him to give me a try that I could do a good job. He then went on to prying into my personal life. He asked me things that I really would have rather not given out that kind of info but he twisted his words and I think I told him more then I should have. For example I had a drinking problem in my teens and I went to a rehab, then the rehab hired me. He was asking me all sorts of things about my last jobs etc. I just feel like I let him get into my personal life and I didnt want him to know this. Its a piece of my past that I don't want the world to know. Now he knows. I would like to know how to explain myself when put on the spot. At the end of the interview I was sad, angey and upset it went horrible then he tells me that My neighbor works at his store a few days a week. Now im paranoid that this jerk will tell my neighbor about my mishaps (rehab). IM new to the area and I dont know anyone and the last thing I need is someone telling ppl about me and my personal life. I's worried any ideas?-
ANSWER:
first off, dont be ashamed of your personal life. Some things need to stay private, but the fact that you overcame a drinking problem is nothing at all to be ashamed of.One thing that would help you is self confidence. If you always doubt yourself and feel like you aren't good enough, you won't be.
Would you really want to work for this guy though? If he is this bad in an interview, imagine spending 5-7 days a week with him. Tell him you don't want to deal with health nuts all day, and go find a job somewhere else. You'll be better off.

QUESTION:
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)?
A few years ago I bought a bottle of CLA (90 soft capsules), I'm not sure why...probably because I read that it accelerates fat loss on the label...and still haven't used it. What I want to know is, is this supplement a 'men's only' kinda thing, or is it okay for us girls to use it too?If you have used it and you are a female, what would you say it did for you? Did it work, or was it just a waste of money? How did you use it (how many did you take and how many times a day did you take it?) For how long did you take it?
I'd REALLY appreciate any kind of help because I'm really hoping to lose weight, quickly if possible. I am also going to the gym =)
miss marion, not-to-worry. i checked it and it's good til the end of this year.thanks for reminding me, though =)

ANSWER:
Various fatty acids can be taken to stimulate weight loss by improving fatty acid metabolism. GLA (gamma-linolenic acid from evening primrose or borage seed oils) & EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid from fish oil) may also be helpful. Also helpful is the less expensive Omega-3 and Omega-6 found in cold-pressed flax seed oil. CLA benefits are related to reduced appetite levels. When taking additional fatty acids it is wise to supplement the many cofactors that help in fatty acid metabolism. These are: zinc, magnesium, beta-carotene, vitamins A, C, niacin, pyridoxine, biotin and vit. E aids in metabolism and prevents oxidation of the other oils.
It is always important to take some type of multivitamin with weight loss or other programs as to not delpeat the body's natural stores of other nutrients needed to breakdown the single supplement that you may be taking.Alison A. Purtle, B.S.

QUESTION:
please react on this article below...tnx in advance?
Exercise is More Important Than Calcium Supplements for Bones
Monday, September 18, 2006A study making recent news concluded that taking calcium supplements does not do much to reduce bone fractures in childhood or later life. The study did not cover all reasons, but it does not stand alone. Studies over many years show that bone density depends on more than eating calcium. Calcium loss occurs through smoking, drinking too much alcohol and soda, lack of exercise, and eating animal protein. A young person can thin their bones through bad habits to the equivalent of an elderly person.
Bone density when you are older depends on what you are doing now. Sedentary lifestyle is a major risk for osteoporosis and fractures. Exercise thickens bones from the muscles pulling on them. Without exercise, you can lose bone density no matter how much calcium you eat. Without exercise, you "pee" the calcium you eat back out. You need to give calcium a reason to stick on your bones.
Even if you are a young man you need to build bone now. Osteoporotic hip and spine fractures are a major cause of illness and death for both women and men. One in eight men over age 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture, greater than his risk of prostate cancer. The death rate in the year following a hip fracture is nearly twice as high for men as for women.
Research in elder populations shows ability to increase bone density with exercise. Weightlifting is often mentioned as needed. People think they need to go to a gym or buy hand weights for home use. Weightlifting includes lifting groceries, children, and packages around the house. Weight-resisting activity includes moving, pulling, and lifting your own body weight. You can load your upper leg at the hip, a major site of osteoporosis, by bending right using your legs for all the many times you need to bend every day. Go to Disc Pain - Not a Mystery, Easy to Fix for tips. Future posts will show more bone building exercise from daily activities.
Several vitamins and minerals in fruit and vegetables help bone density. Calcium also needs vitamin D to work. Sunlight is an often forgotten source. Sunlight is necessary for your immune system, bones, mood, and overall health. There are some who say there is no safe sun exposure. Balance your time of exposure to reduce risk of cataracts and skin cancer. Get out of your chair and get outside in the sunshine for exercise every day.
-
ANSWER:
You need both calcium and plenty of exercise for good bone health. One without the other is insufficient for good health. The amount of calcium you need per day is about 800 mg but a bit more would be better. Vitamin D is required for the absorption of calcium.
It is well known that people who are bedridden need extra calcium as inactivity depletes your calcium levels.

QUESTION:
Can i grow taller with GHR-15 powder during puberty?
GHR15 Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size (scoop) 2
Anterior Pituitary, (Bovine) (mg) 2.8
Hypothalamus (mg) 4
Saccharides (mg) 2500
L-Glutamine (mg) 100
L-Arginine (mg) 100
L-Pyroglutamine (mg) 100
L-Glycine (mg) 300
L-Lysine (g) 200
L-Tyrosine (g) 200
GABA (g) 100
The first Hgh releaser(secretagogue) that we are going to look at is the essential amino acid Arginine. Arginine is considered essential because the body cannot create it on its own, and must get it through supplementation or food. When looking for the best hgh supplement make sure it contains Arginine in the proper ratios.Research has shown that arginine has the benefit of causing the secretion of growth hormone. A 15- to 30-gram intravenous infusion of arginine is used as a standard endocrinological test to provoke the pituitary into releasing growth hormone.
Positive research on arginine for increasing Hgh include increasing fat burning and building muscle tissue probably through the stimulation of growth hormone, increasing the weight and activity of the thymus gland, boosting immunity, fighting cancer, promoting healing of burns and other wounds, protecting the liver and detoxifying harmful substances, and enhancing male fertility (almost all of which are enhanced by GH). It also restores sexual function in impotent men. In a 1994 study by Drs. A.W. Zogmotti and EGA. Lizza of the department of urology / surgery at New York University School of Medicine, six of fifteen men who took 2,800 milligrams of arginine a day for two weeks had renewed sexual performance, specifically improved erection, yet none of the men on the placebo did. The researchers believe that arginine worked best because it is a precursor of nitric oxide, which plays a key role in initiating and maintaining an erection.........................
L-Lysine aids in the production of antibodies, hormones and enzymes, maintains the body's nitrogen balance, aids calcium absorption and is instrumental in the formation of collagen.A synergistic effect also has been shown between lysine and arginine. According to a 1981 study by Italian researcher A. Isidori, M.D., and his associates at the University of Rome, the combination of 1,200 mg of lysine and 1,200 mg of Arginine in 15 male volunteers between 15 and 20 was 10 times more effective than taking Arginine alone..........
Glutamine is the latest and probably one of the best amino acids to possibly boost hgh. Glutaamine began to generate excitement as a GH-releaser thanks to a 1995 study by Thomas C. Welbourne of Louisiana State University College of medicine in Shreveport. Welbourne showed that a surprisingly small oral dose of about 2 grams of glutamine raised growth hormone levels more than four times over that of a placebo. Even more exciting, age did not diminish the response at least in this small study of volunteers, who ranged from thirty-two to sixty-four years.Glutamine is the amino acid that is Most used by the body, particularly during times of stress. The immune system and the gut practically live on glutamine. If the body does not produce enough glutamine, muscle loss and immune dysfunction can occur. The gut atrophies, meaning all kinds of nutrientscannot be absorbed as well as before. A 1993 study by Welbourne in animals showed that glutamine supplements protects muscle mass and prevents acidosis, which occurs with strenuous exercise and causes muscle breakdown. According to Judy Shabert, M.D., author of the Ultimate Nutrient Glutamine, supplementation with glutamine, especially in times of stress, would prevent muscle wasting. In a foreword to the book, Douglas Wetmore, MD, of Harvard Medical School, points out that glutamine is a key to the metabolism and maintenance of muscle, the primary energy source for the immune system, and essential DNA synthesis, cell division, and cell growth, all factors that are enhanced by GH It also crosses the blood-brain barrier into the brain, where it increases energy and mental alertness.

QUESTION:
Overweight and pregnant?
I have gained a significant amount of weight over the past 10 years. 11 years ago I left a very traumatic and abusive life and was married to a man that loves me more deeply and sacrificially than I can describe. The first 5 years in our marriage I struggled with and overcame depression. It seemed strange that all the depression symptoms came after I was no longer exposed to the abuse, but that is how it happened. Once feeling ''safe” it seems the depression hit hard and I steadily gained a lot of weight, about 10 pounds a year. I had never had a problem with my weight prior to this and it was frustrating to deal with after I was finally becoming emotionally whole again. After going through a lot of counseling and finally feeling ''healthy'' mentally and emotionally, my wonderful husband of five years and I got pregnant with our first child. Even though I had gained a lot of weight over those first five years, honestly, I didn’t look that bad and no one ever really said anything to me-not even my husband. I enjoyed my first pregnancy for the most part, and once we held our daughter, we fell in love with her more than life.
During that pregnancy I gained a little more weight and never lost it when we got pregnant with our sweet boy. We weren’t trying, in fact we call him our “unexpected blessing!” And as you’d guess, I gained more weight with him while pregnant. As soon as I delivered him, however, I lost all the weight super fast – it was like my body couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I was at the exact pre-pregnancy weight.
Over the next year or so I was already wearing lots of stretch waist pants to be comfortable with my two little ones and when we planned to go on a trip this winter, I tried on a pair of jeans that had fit me just the year before. I couldn’t believe that they didn’t fit and when I dug out my scale, I had gained 20 pounds literally without noticing it!
Well, this last December I started the whole weigh loss plan and daily walking which was going super. I am probably a total of 75 pounds more than those ''charts'' say by height that I should be, and well, as of this morning, I think I am pregnant again. We want another child, but I wanted to get this weight under control first – to at least be what I was when I got pregnant with either of my other children. I wish I could say that we got pregnant intentionally, but we didn't use protection and during the “act” only because when things were getting to the point, I “did the math” in my head and felt “sure'' I wasn't ovulating yet. Afterwards, I tried to calculate again and felt really nervous I did my “math” wrong. My husband and I realized at the same time that we had both thought about it, but didn’t think I was in ovulation yet. Together we realized that we both miscalculated in the “moment” and now I am scared that I am pregnant.
I am frantically looking around for online advice. I am so embarrassed that I may be pregnant. I know everyone is going to judge me, especially those close to us that will feel they have the “job” to say something “because they care” (which I know they do, but how is that going to help me at this point??). I’m just sad because this is going to be so hard for me and my family.
I still feel so ''fragile'' in some ways from my past and I just don't think I could take it if my weight contributed to hurting this baby or even myself which could cause pain to my other children and my sweet husband. I've been put through so much in my life and I would never want to deliberately hurt any of them.
I'm so confused and don't know what to do. My questions are, can you really not gain weight when pregnant (eating healthy with lots of supplements and exercising enough to stay the same and metabolize what is in your body already), and is there a resource I could go to for help since WW won't talk to you if you’re preggo (with their liability issues, etc.). I'm having a melt-down and I need some good advice. Also, does anyone know a good way to find an OB that won't have the ''fat'' talk with me every time I come in for a prenatal check? My last OB was not happy with the weight I started at BEFORE the second...she'd probably harpoon me herself if she found out what I've allowed to happen.
Thank you for your help in advance.

ANSWER:
In a way I can relate. I ballooned to a weight of 275 pounds after a really bad car wreck that left my unable to walk for six months. I spent the better part of last year trying to lose the 100 pounds I had gained, but was only able to lose 42 pounds before I discovered I was pregnant. I am due in 9 weeks and so far have gained 24 pounds...and that has been with me on bed rest. And I get the lecture from my doctor non stop. But I can't do anything but stay in bed per his orders! But, here is what I have found out through reading:
If you are overweight, it is safe to not gain weight as long as you have your doctor's permission. If you are told to gain weight, try not to gain more than 20-25 pounds. Do NOT try to lose weight while pregnant. Exercise is safe (unless told otherwise.) Supplements are not always safe, diet pills never are. Talk to your doctor about options.
During pregnancy overweight women are subject to risk of miscarriage, preeclampsia, diabetes and hypertension to a greater degree. While heightened sugar content in blood a baby, as a rule, turns to be too big, what fraught with Cesarean section, as during delivery big fetus can cause additional problems for a woman: breakages, bleeding. But many of these women have very normal and healthy pregnancies and babies. In fact, everyone I know has been overwieght and pregnant. And all babies turned out fine.
Watch what you eat, stay away from empty calories and sugary foods. Eat smart. Eat small. Eat often. When you eat 6 small meals a day, you burn 600 calories. When you eat 2 large meals a day, you burn 200 calories. Eating more often is better for both you and the baby.
I wish you luck and I suggest talking to a doctor. They only have your best interest in heart. I know first hand how discouraging it is to be told you are too big while pregnant. That fact is made even harder because I WAS losing the weight before I found out I was pregnant. I was almost half way to my goal. But I know that once Zoë is born, I will lose 85-95% of that weight immediately. Then I can work on it again. I also know that I can tell my doctor to shut up. Life is hard enough. Give it a rest. I AM trying. And as long as you know you are doing your best, to hell with everyone else. And looks on the bright side, even losing 5% of your weight before getting pregnant, health risks decrease by 20%. I suggest googling "pregnancy and overweight" or ask to speak to 24 hour nurse line for advise. It isn't easy, I know. I'm being told my child will be 3-5 weeks early and will probably have a C-Section, but I also have been told she is healthy...so know that even in the worse case scenario, good things do come

-
ANSWER:
CLA is not a "mens-only" supplement. It's been studied in both male and female populations. The clinical data on the efficacy of CLA is pretty mixed. A 2004 limited-study in overweight individuals showed a reduction in bodyfat(1), but an August 2005 study(2) and March 2006(3) study did not show a reduction in visceral or subcutaneous adipose tissue (fat.) In 2007, Dr. Leah D. Whigham, of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, found the body-fat benefits of CLA worked for 6 months, then gradually faded.(4)
Also, there is some research to indicate that CLA supplementation might have unfavorable effects on blood sugar and insulin sensitivity. Some research says it decreases serum cholesterol, other research shows it increases it. In other words, the jury is still out and more research needs to be done. The long term healthy effects of CLA are unknown.
Bottom line is that you can probably get better results by focusing on diet and exercise versus CLA supplementation. It's certainly not going to help you lose weight quickly.
Best of luck!
