Replacing high calorie meals with lower calorie protein shakes can help you cut calories, though. Have a shake instead of breakfast, a shake with some soup for lunch, a normal light supper, and snack on fruit. Track your overall calories on a site like dailyplate.com.
Muscle Milk (you'd want the Light version, the regular is high-fat) has a higher percentage of protein than slimfast (I'm not familiar with myoplex). That can help to keep you full longer and reduce your overall carb intake. But you want to be careful that no more than 30% of your calories are coming from protein (dailyplate makes it easy to track) because too much protein can cause illlness and even kidney failure!

Actually, I did pretty well on Slimfast and lost quite a bit. I think it worked best for me because I'm REALLY bad at trying to plan, so bring able to grab something and go worked well for me. Right now I have a shake for breakfast, low-fast yogurt mid morning, bar for lunch, apple mid afternoon, and a sensible dinner. I also try to exercise most days of the week.The only thing you have to deal with is either you're going to use it for a while (like me, who is still too lazy to plan a breakfast or lunch) or eventually you WILL have to learn how to prepare meals. So that is the only bad thing I can think of -- it's a bit of a crutch. But hell, most of the diet plans out there have crutches -- South Beatch, Atkins, Weight Watchers.

There are only two ways of shedding excessive body fat. One is by consuming fewer calories (i.e. eat less, and/or eat healthier). Ignore everyone who wants to make you believe that stuff like Reductil or Hoodia works. Its a waste of money. There is no research supporting their clinical effectiveness whatsoever. With Reductil there have even been casualties and its under investigation. You can drink green tea til you're green in the face it'll make sod all difference! "Slim Bomb"... LOL... with a name like that did you really expect it to work??? Its a basic thermogenic... will do sod all for you unless you're a body builder or elite athlete with only the last percent of body fat to shift to get ripped. Doubt that's the case with you. Stay clear of pills and fad diets... Cabbage diet, egg diet, south beach diet, Atkins diet, low carbs, high protein, low cal bla bla bla... A HEALTHY BALANCED diet consists of lean protein such as fish or chicken breast, lots of fruit and vegetables; starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, brown pasta and brown rice; some nuts and seeds and is low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar. Cut out processed foods such as white bread. No pizza, microwaveable meals, burgers etc.
Have 3 proper meals and two snacks (one mid morning, one afternoon). Chew properly. Never skip breakfast. Try not to eat after 7pm.
There are 3500 calories per pound of body fat. So if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories you would lose approximately one pound per week: (500 x 7 = 3,500) A calorie deficit of 1000 calories would therefore mean that you'd lose approximately two pounds per week (1000 x 7 = 7000). Two pounds a week is commonly accepted as the maximum rate of weight loss that is healthy.
Find a sport or an exercise you enjoy. Start off with exercising 3x a week. Do a mix of aerobic and anaerobic cardiovascular exercises (running, cycling, rowing, boxing, cross trainer...). Aerobic you do for 30+mins at a manageable speed where you should be able to talk. This builds endurance. Anearobic you do speed intervals where you go flat out and then have recovery breaks where you let your heartrate come back down and go again. That builds stamina. You can do this while running, cross trainer, rowing, cycling. Both aerobic and anaerobic cardio burns fat, just in different ways. You'll also develop your slow twitch as well as you fast twitch muscle fibres that way.
Think about it. Running burns 100 calories PER MILE!! If you run only 3 miles at a comfortable pace of a 10-minute/mile that's 300 calories gone just like that. Do that 3 times a week and you've already generated a calorie deficit of 900 calories by running alone.
Also do weight bearing exercises, either resistance machines or free weights. Lean muscle mass is the best fat burner we have. Once you build muscle it wants to live and it'll increase your basal metabolic rate even when resting.
When you change your lifestyle and "healthy" becomes a habit, you won't just be one of the January New Years Resolution statistics who lost a couple of pounds quickly and put on 5 pounds by Valentines day.

Listen, I wish you all the success if this is what you choose to do but remember a couple of things. There is no easy way to weight loss or weight maintenance. It takes dedication, committment and for many serious lifestyle changes.Here is a plan I used and got great results. Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.

Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR

Do the slim fast or weight watchers shakes work to kick start weight loss?
I know.....I know I have to change my lifestyle in order to lose weight, and I have a pretty good start, but have not seen any results. I have pretty much cut out fast food and junk foods. I eat salads, fresh fruits and veggies a lot more than before. I am drinking water like crazy and am exercising moderately by walking, bike riding or tennis daily. I have started lifting light weights and doing sit ups/crunches. I just want to jump start and see some results within 2 weeks. I have been doing so for about 3 weeks already. Do you think two weeks of shakes is OK and will it help? I would love to drop about 10 pound in 2 weeks. ( I started about 3 weeks ago) I am open to all forms of sincere advice. Thanks.-

They do to an extent, if you use them 2x per day with a healthy dinner it will shrink your stomach...however they have a lot of calories, you could have some cereal, coffee and fruit for the same calories (measure the cereal and use skim milk)
I lost some weight with them...but don't rely on them for a long time.
watch what fruit you are eating some are fattening, don't have juice!

Breast feeding alone helps you lose weight. You don't really want to try slim fast right now or any heavy exerscice program, your bodies needs alot of calories to produce breast milk. I would suggest getting a pilates video, they have ones that have 10 minutes of excercising then you can stop and continue later. Very nice for a busy mom. Ok I was doing slim fast for a while and it can help if you are strict... i mean strict... and if you exercise with it it helps more. BUT you have to be eating really healthy snacks and dinner. Also, everyone is different and have different diet needs so if you have any health issues then there might be better diets out there. Surprisingly when Slimfast was looked at in a controlled study it came out better than expected with weight loss that was to some extent maintained after the patient moved back to a more normal diet. There are plenty of low calorie snacks available these days, including some from Slimfast. Be wary of fruit as it is often both high calorie and high sugar, but do ensure that you eat your 5 a day. Take regular vigorous exercise as well and you might lose as much as 4-5 lbs in the first 2 weeks, though weight loss slows down after that and 2-3 lbs a month is sustainable.

1st months of slimming world i lost 9lbs (im not a fan and think ww s better for those of us who still need our treats)!!Weight watchers
1st week= 8lbs (was very good followed well excerised 4 times)
2nd week= 3.5lbs (weight loss slowed which was happy aboutbecause means had not alt of water retention)#
3rd week= 1lb (followed the plan but weight loss catch up with me)
4th week= 4lb (hit th gym n pool hard because wanted a good loss because the week after was going to familys for a christening.altogether =16.5lbs weight loss a bit slower now aveage is 1.5lbs a week which im hapy with.

The time its taken you to pile it on is roughly the time it'll take you to work it back off! There are only two ways of shedding excessive body fat. One is by consuming fewer calories (i.e. eat less, and/or eat healthier). The other is by burning more calories (i.e. by being more active and exercising). Either way you have to generate a calorie deficit.Ignore everyone who wants to make you believe that stuff like Reductil or Hoodia works. Its a waste of money. There is no research supporting their clinical effectiveness whatsoever. With Reductil there have even been casualties and its under investigation. You can drink green tea til you're green in the face it'll make sod all difference! "Slim Bomb"... LOL... with a name like that did you really expect it to work??? Its a basic thermogenic... will do sod all for you unless you're a body builder or elite athlete with only the last percent of body fat to shift to get ripped. Doubt that's the case with you. You may lose a couple of pounds of fluids but no significant fat loss. Your "reviews" of losing 6 pounds per week, who wrote those? The manufacturers??? They make ridiculous claims. £40 for 160 pills... oh dear oh dear...
Stay clear of pills and fad diets... Cabbage diet, egg diet, south beach diet, Atkins diet, low carbs, high protein, low cal bla bla bla... A HEALTHY BALANCED diet consists of lean protein such as fish or chicken breast, lots of fruit and vegetables; starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, brown pasta and brown rice; some nuts and seeds and is low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar. Cut out processed foods such as white bread. No pizza, microwaveable meals, burgers etc.
Have 3 proper meals and two snacks (one mid morning, one afternoon). Chew properly. Never skip breakfast. Try not to eat after 7pm.
There are 3500 calories per pound of body fat. So if you have a calorie deficit of 500 calories you would lose approximately one pound per week: (500 x 7 = 3,500) A calorie deficit of 1000 calories would therefore mean that you'd lose approximately two pounds per week (1000 x 7 = 7000). Two pounds a week is commonly accepted as the maximum rate of weight loss that is healthy.
Find a sport or an exercise you enjoy. Start off with exercising 3x a week. Do a mix of aerobic and anaerobic cardiovascular exercises (running, cycling, rowing, boxing, cross trainer...). Aerobic you do for 30+mins at a manageable speed where you should be able to talk. This builds endurance. Anearobic you do speed intervals where you go flat out and then have recovery breaks where you let your heartrate come back down and go again. That builds stamina. You can do this while running, cross trainer, rowing, cycling. Both aerobic and anaerobic cardio burns fat, just in different ways. You'll also develop your slow twitch as well as you fast twitch muscle fibres that way.
Think about it. Running burns 100 calories PER MILE!! If you run only 3 miles at a comfortable pace of a 10-minute/mile that's 300 calories gone just like that. Do that 3 times a week and you've already generated a calorie deficit of 900 calories by running alone.
Also do weight bearing exercises, either resistance machines or free weights. Lean muscle mass is the best fat burner we have. Once you build muscle it wants to live and it'll increase your basal metabolic rate even when resting.
When you change your lifestyle and "healthy" becomes a habit, you won't just be one of the January New Years Resolution statistics who lost a couple of pounds quickly and put on 5 pounds by Valentines day.
