1/2 Teaspoon black pepper

1/2 Teaspoon dried basil
1 lbs of lean beef sirloin
1 Onion finely sliced
1 Green pepper sliced
4 6-inch hoagie rolls split
4 oz light mozzarella cheese, sliced
Nonfat cooking spray

Preparation:

Add all the seasonings into a small bowl and mix them well.
Now apply the mixture onto the sirloin and make sure you coat it thoroughly.
Wrap the coated beef in plastic or wax paper and partially freeze beef sirloin for about 45-60 minutes.
Once partially frozen remove it from the freezer and slice the sirloin thinly.
Coat a large skillet with non fat cooking spray.
Heat the skillet over medium heat.
Add onions and green pepper into it and saute until soft and lightly browned.
Remove them from pan.
Coat skillet again with spray.
This time increase the heat to high and add the beef and cook for about 5-8 minutes or until you feel the beef is done..
Divide the meat and veggies evenly among 4 rolls and top them off with cheese.
You can also place them in a warm oven or under a broiler to melt cheese before serving.

3) Veggie Burgers with a touch of herbs

Ingredients:

2 Cloves garlic, minced
2 Egg whites
3/4 Cup broccoli florets, finely chopped
3/4 Cup mushrooms, finely chopped
1/4 Cup onion, finely chopped
2/3 Cup cooked brown rice
1/3 Cup quick-cooking oats
1/3 Cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
1/2 Cup cottage cheese (1 percent)
1/2 Cup reduced fat cheddar
1/2 Teaspoon dried basil
1/2 Teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 Teaspoon dried thyme

Preparation:

Spray medium skillet with PAM and heat it over medium heat.
Cook the broccoli, mushrooms, onion, and garlic until tender for about 8 to 10 minutes.
Add the herbs and cook 1 to 2 minutes longer.
Remove from heat.
Stir in rice, oats, walnuts, and cheese into vegetable mixture and season to taste with Lite Salt and pepper.
Stir in egg whites at the end.
Now form the mixture into 4 burgers.
Spray skillet with more PAM and heat over medium heat.
Add the burgers and cooked until you see them browned on the bottom which is about 3 to 4 minutes.
Spray top of the burgers with Pam and turn to cook until browned 3 to 4 minutes longer.

      * 200 g whole wheat pasta
      * 4 tbsp. canola oil

      * 2 red and 1 yellow pepper, thinly sliced
      * 150 g green beans
      * 1 tin corn

      1. Cook the pasta in boiling water according to the instructions on the packet.

      I know just how you feel and I do believe that it is possible for you to loss weight that amount of weight by august 24. So what I suggest is that you eat a balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegtables and water. Lots of water. Also do about a hour of excercise a day, I suggest jump roping for 20 minuts, few minuts of dumbbell excercise, and maby some yoga. And also a half hour of brisk walking or joging. Do this every day but you are welcome to switch it up a little. Also for eating strategies you should eat slow or slower so you will have time to feel you stomach and you are almost garenteed that you will eat less, cutting down calories. This is all I can think of at the moment but you can also ask you doctor for things you can do and ask friends or reletives.       -Yoplait Greek Plain yogurt(17 grams of protein per container! And has both calcium and vitamin D in it, which not all brands do)
      -frozen fruit of choice (blueberries, mango, cranberries, strawberries, blackberries, pineapple)
      -splash of juice (I like guava or passionfruit)
      -tsp of zest of citrus fruit (lemon, orange, grapfruit)
      -Tbsp of flax seeds (optional)
      -soft tofu (optional)

      Have you tried veggies in your smoothie?:
      -frozen green veggies (kale or spinach) they mix right in...you won't even know they are there!

      4 tablespoons of low fat mayonnaise
      2 slices of cucumber. Peel the cucumber and remove both end. Then slice it.
      1 teaspoon of chopped celery
      1 teaspoon of olive oil
      3 tablespoons of plain low fat yogurt
      Salt, pepper and tomato ketchup to taste

      Instructions:

      Sprinkle the cooked chicken fillet with salt and pepper. Then mix the yogurt, mayonnaise and lemon juice in a bowl. Dip each chicken pieces into the dressing mix before putting it on the bread. Then arrange the cucumber, tomatoes and celery on the bread neatly. Last, sprinkle it with the olive oil and the remaining of the dressing.

      Directions: If using apples, slice them thinly and add cinnamon. Heat the fruit in the microwave untill hot, apples take longer to get a better texture. Let it cool.Top with yogurt and granola.

      Eat fresh fruits and veggies with each meal or as a snack (go easy on high calorie dips). Eat lean meats, whole grain breads and cereals, and drink small amounts of skim milk for calcium. Drink lots of water. If you only have a few pounds to lose, switching from whatever it is you drink now to water will help. It is amazing how mancy calories are consumed simply through beverages! A 20 oz bottle of soda, which most people drink in one sitting by themselves, is actually 2 and 1/2 servings! Watch the calorie and fat content on the labels of the foods and beverages you consume and loosing a few pounds should be easy.

      Be sure to get moving...whether it's an exercise routine, walking the dog, or housecleaning.

      Carbs are like the kindling on a fire that give you quick, fleeting energy, blood sugar spikes, excess cortisol production and plateauing (not being able to lose beyond a certain point). All this is designed to cost you money and give you bad health. The idea of not eating fat seems reasonable, but is just born out of ignorance.

      Fats give you long sustained energy. When you eat lots of fats, the adipose tissue secretes Leptin hormone that signals your body you are NOT starving and keeps your metabolism running strong. Eating lots of carbs tells your body you ARE STARVING and slows your metabolism.

      A good weight loss program will leave you full and satisfied and a steady loss of weight until you reach your goal. A blood sugar handling diet done for 2 weeks gets rid of all the cravings and then a diet skewed toward eating fats, low carb, and modest proteins will give you the best results. Get the book called "Eat Fat, Lose Weight" by Mary G. Enig, Ph.D. Become educated and throw out the indoctrination.

      Whatever you do, AVOID SOY. Soy is loaded with goitrogens that slow your thyroid down that reduces your metabolism. Soy inhibits protein digestion and depletes your body of minerals, especially iron (over 50%). It is loaded with heavy metal aluminum that greatly affects your thyroid negatively. SOY is a really bad joke being played on Americans. Get the book called "The Whole Soy Story" by Kaayla Daniels. A peer reviewed book, well documented, and comprehensive.

      I get this from a juice bar by my apartment: pineapple, papaya, apple (I don't know the quantities though). This one doesn't use any kind of dairy, just ice.

    I'm 19 and my husband is 22, we both have full-time jobs and are incredible busy, he is a computer technician that works a regular 9-5 job at a software developer and he runs his own business. I work as a sales representative for a wholesale shoe business, with a desk job that requires some but not much physical activity. I've always been a bit over weight and even though I just lost 30 pounds, have plateaued to 140, I'm 5'4 and do not consider myself fat, just I do have a few pounds to lose.My husband on the other hand, is 6'0 feet and 240 pounds which really worries me, he is a food lover of everything that is edible. And like I said, we are both extremely BUSY people so it's hard to do groceries or take 30 minutes to walk everyday, but we do it anyway.

    I've tried putting us on a "diet" which consists of 6 day's of healthy eating and one day of eating whatever we wish.

    But I've grown tired of the food I've been cooking which has been salmon, rice, beans, chicken, veggies, more chicken, we have steak once a week, and some sort of pasta, whether it's spaghetti or fettuccine Alfredo once a week. I've noticed that the same things are sooooo boring and have found it hard to actually incorporate VEGETABLES in our diets. Fruits are easy, veggies are hard.

    The recipes online are filled with vegetables that I don't even know what they are or how to prepare. I've tried researching online any simple food recipes but the ones I have tried are just NOT my taste.

    Anyone have their on recipes or an online source that has regular easy recipes for everyday people that don't know how to pouch and what not?
    BTW....

    It's not that I don't have time because I have a 9-5 job. Like I said... we run our own business and going to open a store in Jan meaning we have absolutely NO time... except for today that I took a day off but my husband is STILL working (he's been out since 8 am, will get home here at 12 am to wake up at 6 to go to work again, and we work 1 hour from where we live so add 2 hours of commute everyday). So it's harsh when someone accuses us me of not working hard, of being lazy, of working less so I can just get "paid". No... I work hard because I want my hard work to make ME wealthy, not to make other people wealthy through MY hard work... But like I said, I've been putting us on a diet plus excising at least for 30-45 min a day. SO don't be harsh please :) .

      i dont have a specific answer for you, but i can tell you that juicing your vegetables, if you can get used to the taste, is extremely beneficial for your body, and can help boost your metabolism. i went on a 5 day juice cleanse, i juiced my own vegetables, added a small amount of fruit for taste. i found recepies in First magezine, they have creative healthy recipes so check them out. anyway, i lost 4 lbs that week, and felt great to boot! btw i am 21 and 5'3, about 145lbs. i know how it feels to want to get rid of just those few extras :) here is what i usually had for breakfast, but keep in mind, you have to get used to the taste, and tweak it where you need to...if you cant handle the celery taste, omit it, i did some days.

      Juice all this together:
      1 Beet
      3 Carrots
      2 Apples
      2 Celery stalks
      1/2 inch ginger root (for taste)
      1/2 lemon
      ( i added fresh spinach sometimes, but unless you have a high grade juicer, its better to put spinach in a blender)

      substitue apples if you want, i added it to this recipe to add some sweet. also any red fruit boosts metabolism as well, such as red grapes. good luck
