Pre-made protein shakes are believed by many people to be able to enhance their performance and a good weight loss supplement. It is also said tha 00004000 t protein is the building block in muscle development and it also makes you feel full thus making you eating less. A recommended amount of protein shakes intake daily is 1 shake between each meal but never drink protein shake more than half of the number your meals. Let us say you take 5 meals, then 2 meals are protein shakes and the remaining 3 meals are real meals. An average adult require about 45 to 55 grams of protein daily depending on the person's body weight and overall health.

The free protein shakes recipes above are homemade protein shakes and are considered healthy. You can also change the fruit in the recipe to make your own protein shake recipe. They are also protein shakes that you are able to buy from your local store. Pre-made protein shakes normally come in the form of powder. The protein shake powder is mixed/blended with water, milk, juice or any fruits then consumed. The pre-made protein shakes come in many flavors and also unflavored. Protein form pre-made protein shakes come from soy (from soybeans), dairy (milk or cheese) or egg base.
The manufacturers of these protein shakes claimed that their products are able to decrease body fat and make you lose weight. However, do take not that none of these claims are proven true. If you do not take excessive protein shake, it will not harm you and neither will it make you lose weight.
Since protein contains calories, you will find it harder to lose weight when you take too much protein shakes unless if you burn more calories than the amount of calories you take. To produce weight loss you must control your calorie intake and burn more calories by doing cardio and weight training activities. By consuming more protein does not make extra muscle. As a matter of fact, the extra protein that your body does not need will be stored as fat.
1 gram protein equals to 4 calories. As such consuming 100 grams of protein shake daily equals to filling you body with 400 calories daily. So it is very important how much protein or protein shake you consume daily. Make sure you burn off all the extra calories. Be sure to calculate how much protein shake you drink daily and calculate how much calories you burn daily.
It is recommended that you get your protein mostly from real food and do not rely on pre-made protein shakes. The so-called nutrients benefit in the pre-made protein shake do not replace the benefits of real food in anyway whatsoever.
Whether protein shakes help you to lose weight or not, is dependent solely upon you. If you do not burn more calories than you eat, then chances are protein shakes are of no use and you will not lose weight.

QUESTION:
ARE THERE WEIGHT LOSS PROTEIN SHAKES OUT THERE?
I WANTED TO KNOW, ARE THERE WEIGHT LOSS PROTEIN SHAKES OUT THERE, THAT CAN REPLACE MEALS?
IF SO, HAVE YOU TRIED IT, OR KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS? THANK YOU. PEACE AND BLESSINGS-
ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

QUESTION:
Weight Loss Protein Shakes?
Ok, so I have been working out for quite a while and I am barely seeing any results. I know why this is, its because I dont have enough protein in my diet and being vegetarian its quite a struggle. I also want to lose weight and get the lean toned body I'm 5ft 8 and 9st 9Ib obviously I need and want to lose weight I work out 4 times a week and eat healthily but no weight seems to be dropping off. I came across this fat loss protein shake today and my question is has anybody tried something like this before and does it work? cause I dont want to be trying it and it having the reverse effect and I end up gaining weight lol.-
ANSWER:
Firstly, 9st 9lb isn't heavy for your height and you certainly don't NEED to lose weight but if you feel like you'd like drop some fat then you need to combine cardiovascular and resistance exercise with a healthy diet in order to achieve this.I also am vegetarian and I train 6 times a week. For me a whey protein supplement is vital to maintaining muscle tone and keeping my bodyfat low. I use Dymatize Elite Whey because its relatively cheap (try www.bodyshapersfitness.com) but really any low carb whey is acceptable. I use it first thing in the morning to wake up my metabolism and after my weights sessions to maintain my lean tissue and I find it works.
Please message me if you need any further info
Good luck x

QUESTION:
Is it safe to drink weight loss protein shake's while breastfeeding?
My baby is about to turn 3 month's old and i still have the postpartum pregnancy weight, and i am trying to lose it or at least lose a couple of pounds. I do plan to exercise but along with it i would like to have an additional supplement, like the protein shake. Would this somehow affect my baby in any way?Is there any healthy weight loss milkshake that does not contain to many chemicals?
-
ANSWER:
It would depend on the particular product you're using. You have to be very careful about using supplements because they have almost no federal controls and many have been found to be of poor quality, contain contaminents, etc. It's much better for you and for baby to get your protein from real food. And, don't forget, protein has the same caloric value as pure sugar...4 cals/gm. Here's the story. Here's what you need to know about protein supplements.
The most popular protein supplements are no more than milk with the nutrition extracted leaving the whey which is then sold for several times the amount you would pay for dehydrated milk. The result is you get less nutrition and spend more money. How does that make sense?
Your body does not store protein as it does fat. It makes the protein it needs when it needs it. And, if you're building muscle, it needs it over the entire recovery time between workouts and not just before or just after working out. That makes the idea of dumping a bunch of protein into your system at one time senseless.
Most people grossly overestimate the amount of protein they need. Here's how much you need according to the experts at the US National Institute of Health via the CDC. --> http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/basics/protein.html#How%20much%20protein . Most people in the developed world get that amount of protein in their daily diet because it amounts to no more than a glass of milk, some beans, and a piece of meat. Excess protein is just wasted and most will be excreted by the body or used as fuel supporting fat gain.
Protein supplements are also bad for diets because they are not whole food, have almost no fiber, still contribute calories, but cannot provide the satisfaction and appetite suppression of a natural digestive process. Protein has the same number of calories per gram as sugar.
Here's why protein shakes should be avoided:
• They are not carefully controlled by the FDA as are foods and drugs.
• They may have harmful or undesirable side effects.
• May contain metabolically or biologically unavailable proteins because of processing.
• Will probably provide more protein than you need with the rest going to waste.
• Can unbalance a diet and upset the macronutrient ratios.
• Provide you with extra and unnecessary calories.
• May contain junk food ingredients to make them tasty.
• Possibly provide you unwanted contaminants or toxins. FDA does not require testing.
• Are overpriced and waste money.
• Can ruin a fat loss diet.
• Replaces what you really need - good food! The secret to building muscle, burning fat, and eating healthy is very simply to eat the correct and optimal amount of whole and varied foods as recommended by the US National Institute of Health. Now here are some references from the experts.
Here is what the US National Institute of Health warns about supplements. "Always check with your health care provider before taking a supplement, especially when combining or substituting them with other foods or medicine."
Ref: http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/ODS_Frequently_Asked_Questions.aspx#NeedHere’s a white paper which debunks the myth of the protein supplement. Note the following excerpt...“At present there is no evidence to suggest that supplements are required for optimal muscle growth or strength gain.”
Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15212752Here's one more study to read. Note the excerpt..."Consumption of a recovery drink (whey protein, amino acids, creatine, and carbohydrate) after strength training workouts did not promote greater gains in FFM (Fat free muscle) compared with consumption of a carbohydrate-only drink.”
Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15105028Here's what Consumer Reports had to say..."But our investigation, including tests at an outside laboratory of 15 protein drinks, a review of government documents, and interviews with health and fitness experts and consumers, found most people already get enough protein, and there are far better and cheaper ways to add more if it's needed. Some protein drinks can even pose health risks, including exposure to potentially harmful heavy metals, if consumed frequently. All drinks in our tests had at least one sample containing one or more of the following contaminants: arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. Those metals can have toxic effects on several organs in the body."

QUESTION:
Help with weight loss...protein shakes?
I'm 5'1...21 years old and overweight. I used to be very athletic and played sports all throughout middle and highschool. Since I graduated, I've gained some weight. I first weighed in at 194lbs in January 2011. So far as of April 2011, I have lost 17lbs. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and walk and do cardio on the days I cant get to the gym. Ive also changed my diet. My trainer told me I should start weight training to increase muscle mass and burn more calories (fat) ect. He also mentioned to increase my protein intake. Protein shakes?? How do they work? Which is the best if all I want to do is lose weight not really 'bulk' up too much? (Whey, Soy, Casein??) When should I drink them? How many times a day should I consider drinking them? - I've read that one in the morning is good and then one immediately after workout too - I've also read about people taking two or more kinds of protein shakes in the same day..for example a Whey shake in the morning and a Casein after workout..Why is that? I could probably go on for another few sentences since I really don't know much about the subject but I'll stop here lolThank you for all and any help

QUESTION:
know any good weight loss protein shakes?
can anyone help??-
ANSWER:
Best bet would be to buy some whey protein and make your own shake. I mix 2 scoops of pure whey isolate (vanilla or chocolate) with vanilla soy milk and come up with a meal replacement that has approx. 350 calories, 52 grams protein, 35 grams carbs and 3 grams of fat. I usually add an apple as dessert, for the necessary fiber. A decent whey will run you about for 2 lbs (I buy 6 Star at Wal Marts) and should last for about 20 servings.

QUESTION:
Is there a protein/weight loss shake that's safe for a nursing mother?
I'm breastfeeding, but I'd like to lose weight with the help of shakes and snack bars in addition to eating healthy and being active. Preparing meals is difficult with two in diapers. What are my options and are there specific ingredients I should be wary of in weight loss shakes and snack bars? I'm looking for meal replacements as well as snacks.-
ANSWER:
Now whenever it comes to weight loss you should follow these simple steps that have helped me tremendously lose weight, pretty quickly if you ask me. And I've been trying to lose weight forever and finally found the correct system to help me out...The first thing you need to do is about 30 minutes of cardio everyday, try to get at least 3-4 days of that people...Exercising is one very important issue you don't want to be lazy in.
The second thing you should realize is that you cannot eat everything in sight that probably got you looking the way you are right now or the reason you want to lose weight. The pounds come with the food you eat. How do you stop yourself from eating and get a little boost with ousting fat from the food you eat? Simple...
The third and final step is the correct natural weight loss supplement. For me, I found Proactol to be the best. Now this isn't aimed towards lazy people that want to take a pill and sit on the couch all night and day. These are to tremendously help out with dieting and exercising. For me they were great because with my diet, they basically take out up to 28% of the fat you intake. Not to mention the killer appetite suppressant Proactol is. Every day you will fall under your calorie intake and find yourself one more day closer to your goal.
These steps really worked for me, you should try them out for yourself even if you want to lose very little or that extra mile. Also at the time of my 3 month supply purchase of Proactol, I saved a lot of money on it at theweightlossplace .com
Good luck and I hope this helps you out for your weight loss goals.

QUESTION:
What is the best weight loss protein shake out there that taste good and works well?-
ANSWER:
I prefer brown rice or hemp protein powders myself, but don't really think ANY protein powders taste very good just mixed with water. Gotta get out the blender, a piece of fruit or two and some ice first. Try this recipe:1 banana
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tbsp protein powder (or whatever a serving size is for you)
8-10 ice cubesJust put all that in a blender and mix until smooth. It will be somewhat thick and you may need a spoon. Kinda like a dessert
It only takes 5 minutes.Adding vegetables such as carrots and greens is a great way to be sure you're getting your "five a day." Wheat germ has a lot of protein as do nuts and nut butters. Flax seed oil is great for omega 3's. Of course, adding all that makes it more of a meal, but experimentation is half the fun.
Best of luck and have a great day!

QUESTION:
When is the best time to take phd weight loss protein shake?
everyone tells me different things. also does anyone know if this actually works and what is the best flavor.-

QUESTION:
Do protein shakes increase weight LOSS or weight GAIN?
I've heard 2 different sides to the story. Do protein shakes help increase weight LOSS or help increase weight GAIN? **Specifically Soy Protein** Thank you!!-
ANSWER:
Protein shakes are used mostly as an energy drink during or shortly before workout or exercise regiment. Also used as just one of the daily meal replacement for others on the go. It really depends on the situation. Drinking protein shakes while watching TV will cause weight gain. When working out larger muscles gain weight (muscles weigh more than fat), but you lose more fat at first thus losing weight by the first workout / regiment phase.

QUESTION:
Will protein shakes effect my weight loss?
I work out 3 times a week and do cardio (usually running) 2 times a week and keep on a healthy diet. My overall goal is losing some weight and building muscle. Recently ive started making protein shakes after my workouts using whey protein (1-2 scoops) with milk, fruit, and yogurt. Ive been seeing good results with muscle build but im curious if the protein is hurting me more than helping by effecting my weight loss. any suggestions would be great Thanks-
ANSWER:
I should help more than anything. Try to use a whey protein that is lower in calories, so stay away from high calorie protein powders such as Muscle Milk. Running burns a lot of calories, and builds up many different muscle groups in a short amount of time. You might see a slight increase in weight at first, but it should help you in the long run. I hope that helps a little, and great work thus far!If you need more expertise on exercise, try http://www.sparkpeople.com, they helped me a ton with my weight loss this past year!

QUESTION:
(Protein shakes) Weight loss or gain?
Special K, has protein drinks, but they are supposed to help you 'loss' weight. Although, my father recently told me they helped him 'gain' weight. Is this just muscle mass, because protein helps build muscles, or will I gain excess fat?-
ANSWER:
Excess protein can be converted to stored body fat just like carbs and fat.
Get your nutrients from your food, not from drinks.
If we were supposed to live on liquefied food we would have blender blades in our mouths instead of teeth.

QUESTION:
Are protein shakes effective in weight loss?
I'm taking a nutrition class and my teacher said that drinkingwhey protein shakes or even increasing your lean proteins is not an effective method in trying to lose weight even when you incorporate excerise. I just wanted to know if this was true?-
ANSWER:
Well, you need protein in order to build muscle. But if you're already getting protein, adding more in the form of a shake isn't necessarily going to help - especially if you're adding it onto the rest of what you eat, as opposed to replacing something. Plus, if you're not paying attention to what's in the shake, you could be getting more sugars than protein. . . .On the other hand, my brother got a personal trainer, started exercising heavily and routinely, started making his own protein shakes for breakfast, and built muscle while losing weight, so they definitely do have a place.

Weight Loss depends on number of calories burn vs. number of calories consumed. If you have added the shake to your normal eating habits it could be hindering your weight loss but it is probably good for you so I wouldnt worry about it too much. Just keep working hard and I am sure you will lose weight.

QUESTION:
Protein Shakes for weight loss?
Are Protein Shakes good for weight loss? I always hear about them for body building....but could you use them for weight loss?? If so can anyone recommend a good brand?-
ANSWER:
Protein helps repair muscle. It won't help you lose weight with out exercise. So it isn't necessarily a weight loss supplement, it is a muscle building supplement. If you do any type of work out, weight lifting, cardio, or just playing a sport, then protein won't hurt at all but it doesn't help to lose fat. A good brand is ON (Optimum Nutrition) 100% Whey Protein.

QUESTION:
Are protein shakes good for weight loss for girls?
I am 20 5 foot 3 and weigh about 52 kilos but am not in a good bikini body shape.
I was thinking of replacing dinner with protein shakes-
ANSWER:
No, protein shakes aren't good for weight loss of any kind. They're like meat, they're meant for bulking up and if you aren't also exercising and building mussel it will most likely just turn into fat. You'd have better luck eating things like salad or fish in small portions, not too small or you'll slow down your metabolism which will slow down the rate at which you lose weight. Be sure to do lots of research using google, or any search engine, to look up real facts about weight loss.
Another tip, don't assume that just because it says "low calorie," "diet," or "low fat," that it's what you need to lose weight. Be cautious about what you're really putting into your body and do good research if you're really serious about loosing weight. Be sure to learn the facts about what it is you really need to shape your body to the way you want it to be.
Another thing is, find out what your daily calorie intake should be, take in too few calories slows down metabolism, take in too many and it turn into fat. You need just the right amount for your body size, age, gender, and amount of daily physical activity.
Hope I was of some help, and best of luck. ^-^

5"3
age 20
140 pounds and female.
Im trying to lose about 10 more pounds. I work out 4 days a week doing 30 to 40 mins of cardio and strentgh training ! I eat healthy and drink about 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. I just brought a protein shake that is 120 calories, 23 grams of protein. I mix about 1 cup 60 minutes before a work out and 1 cup at night before bed. I want to know what this protein shake will do for me. Will help me burn or calories, help me tone up and build more muscle or what ? Any info will help !-
ANSWER:
I'm not sure if protein shakes will help you with your weight loss, but i know that they help curb hunger. I have protein shakes when I don't want to eat junk food or anything like that. Though I can tell you that the shake you're using is really good for you. The average amount of protein in a shake is 15 grams. So you're doing that right for sure. I think if you keep up your workout routine and your eating habits then you will lose the weight you're trying to get rid of. Though I really don't think that you need to lose any. 140 pounds at 5'3" seems like a nice healthy weight. But if it makes you happy, then go for it. I hope this helped somewhat.

QUESTION:
can stopping the use of protein shakes cause weight loss?
just wondering if stoping protien shake can be a cause for weight loss and body mass loss? What are the reason? I have stoped taking protien shakes and I have lost about 10 pounds. Thanks
-
ANSWER:
You decreased your calorie intake when you stopped taking in the empty calories from the protein shakes. It was a very good decision to not use protein shakes anymore; the vast majority of people who use them don't need them, and gain unnecessary weight as a result.

QUESTION:
Water or no fat milk with protein shake. Weight loss?
Whats better for weight loss, having your protein shake with water or with no fat milk? I hear Calcium is good for weight loss and also that you need extra calcium when on a high protein diet so than what should I have my shakes with?-
ANSWER:
It all depends on how your calorie break down is - but I would recommend saving the calories from the skimmed milk and using them else where. There's a lot of sugary carbs in milk (lactose) which will cause your insulin to increase - you'd be better off having water and having something with more complex carbs that will stabilise blood sugar.Remember, every time your insulin rises it starts storing any excess energy in your body in to fat cells - if you stick with a complex carbohydrate food instead of a simple carbohydrate food (like milk) then you'll achieve your weight loss goals a little faster.
You're right about Calcium though - make sure you're getting your DRV. If you're not quite hitting it, then it would be wise to use milk to increase it.

QUESTION:
Protein Shakes for weight loss/gain?
Can any of you give advice on protein shakes? I have been reading alot and I can't tell if you should drink it for weight loss or gain. I am trying to lose weight....20lbs. When I had a drink this morning and added the calories It took 400 calories (I added a banana). This leaves me with 1100 for the rest of the day. I guess that's not really bad. I just maybe wanted advice from someone that has tried it already. I work out 5 days a week..cardio/circuit training. I just want o make sure I am not sabotaging my progress.-
ANSWER:
from my personal experience I've found the number of calories I eat isn't quite as important as what those calories come from. I went from a 1200 or less calorie intake to between 1400 and 1800 calories daily and have lost 10lbs in the past 2 weeks. Remember if you are working out hard, you might not see weight loss in numbers as much as clothing fitting better, because working out helps to build/tone lean muscle. A well balanced nutrition plan is extremely important to achieve weight loss goals. If you are not properly feeding your body it will hold onto more of what you put into it. and of course... drink lots of water. Just an example of my daily diet... breakfast: 1 cup special K, 1/2 c. skim milk, 1/2 cup applesauce or apple juice.... snack: 6oz. low-fat fruit flavored yogurt (weight watchers usually).... lunch: sandwich ( 2 slices whole wheat bread, 1oz turkey breast, 1oz swiss or cheddar cheese, mustard)... dinner: whatever I make for my family, just small portions such as... tacos, (2 flour tortillas, 4 tablespoons prepared taco meat {turkey burger, fat free refried beans, taco seasoning} lettuce, tomato, 2 tablespoons low-fat sour cream, fat free cheese, taco sauce) and a glass or two of water.
I also throw in a 12oz fruit smoothie with whey protein powder after my workout from my gym's juice bar as a special treat 2 or 3 days a week.
check out the 1800 calorie diabetic diet by jeffery bossenberger also, that will give you a good idea to controlling portion size.

QUESTION:
high protein shakes and weight loss?
Start of I am overweight.
I started Adipex prescribed by my doctor the end of April . I have lost 31 lbs so far. I work out at YMCA and recreationally swim (play with my kids) 3 to 4 times a week.My doctor suggested this meal replacement I haven’t even heard of myself but he has and he has been using it with other patients with great results so I trust him. Average weight loss 2-5 pounds a week on it. I will continue my Adipex for Appetite suppressant and I started the meal replacement today. The meal replacement is sold through him and he gave me free boxes 50 dollars worth. It will end up costing me about 100-150 month.
Essentially the diet is high in protein and low in carbs and fat. This diet is calorie restricted. My question is
Is protein what I want
to lose the weight and if it is would adding a protein shake once a day aid in further weight loss?I am trying to avoid weight loss surgery. The way it is going I see great things.
-
ANSWER:
I would continue following your doctor's plan. I would not add in additional protein shakes since then you would be raising your calorie content. Good luck.

QUESTION:
I have a question about weight loss shakes?
I have these shakes that are for weight loss. They are not specifically labeled protein shakes so keep that in mind. That have 170 cal. in each and 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. If I drink these but don't work out will I just gain weight anyways because they have a lot of protein? I wanted to substitute two meals with a shake and eat a regular dinner (because I love dinner
)-
ANSWER:
Yes you will gain weight. The shakes are to be used with exercise. The best thing would be to have a light breakfast such as plain toast and an apple, have a light lunch such as a salad, and eat a small dinner. If you get hungry through the day have a snack such as a few peanuts or a snack bar (the south beach diet taste the best). You do have to exercise though. Start small. Do ten sit ups a day and go for a 15 min walk. After two weeks do 15 set ups and a 30 min walk. If you have use of a pool exercise there. Water puts less stress on the body and provides resistance. It is a great form or exercise. I hope this helps you.

How do they work.. do they help or enhance weight loss? Also, how should you eat if you decide to start using protein shakes?-

QUESTION:
Weight loss and shakes?
I want to lose some weight quickly. I know there are NO miracle diets out there, I just know I can control my calories better by using weight loss/protein soy shakes. Plus, sometimes I dont have time to eat. I am a stay at home Mom so sometimes its hard to find proper "meals" to eat on short notice. And I know skipping meals is unhealthy as well and no good for weight loss. I know I need to also burn calories so my daughter and I go on walks, I take her to the park and when she's sleeping I work on toning.
With all that said and done, are there any shakes, bars or mini-meals anyone reccommends ( and when I mean mini meals, it has to be something quick and easy)... And can I add things like fruit, peanut butter or anything else to the shakes? How many a day, and what do I eat inbetween. Oohh, and should I have 1200 calories or 2000 like my Mother says?-
ANSWER:
as far as calorie intake goes, what ever you want your ideal waight to be add a 0. so on a 2000 calorie diet you would level off at 200 lbs at 1200 calorie you would level off around 120 lbs.. get it? as far as the shakes go.... here is the thing, people and i mean it seems like everyone is loosing grip on reality when it comes to wieght loss. diets are to the point of making me mad, most do more harm than good. see what you eat is not near as important as how you use it. here is a fact, and remmeber this because as i just said it is fact. there is only one thing that burns fat...only one....it's called muscle. thats is fact. even cardio, yep your heart is a muscle.. and your body when hungry will first burn muscle first if it is not in use... so dieting without excersise is a step back wards. seriously.. and i have heard "but i dont want to be a muscle women/man" i'll tell you what when you start to look that way back off, i''ll garantee by then you will be skinniy. And its not hard seriously, just focus on using muscles, and you'll start loosing inches. i say inches because muscle wieghts more than fat, so initiallly you may gain wieght, but loose inches, and that is something to get excited about. Because that means you have more fat buring potential. and the inchest will go faster. Eventually you will balence out and the wieght will drop. Why do you think it was easier when you were younger?, it's not age, it's strength.
It can be anything lift your hands over your head till your arms are tired. hold your leg out straight till its tired, press on the wall, stand on your toes... these are things you can do anywhere anytime that will help strengthin your body..and ultimately make you loose wieght.. Trust me its fact. the problem is society is lazy, new inventions make life easier and easier, thats why as a whole we are getting fat because life is requiring less strength.

QUESTION:
Protein Shakes and Weight Loss... the truth.?
For some one looking to lose weight and tone up, without buliding bulky muscle, are protein shakes the way to go?I heard it works if you use it to replace one meal a day... preferably breakfast...
.. but I think it would pay to find out whether this would be a good decision, or if it would end up making me a bulky mass of muscle.
note... i'm female, so this happening is COMPLETELY unnacceptable!
feedback would be appreciated.
-
ANSWER:
Protein shakes don't make you bulk up. Weight lifting does. And nobody accidentally get too big from weight lifting. It takes a long time, and the change is very gradual. You will get to where you want long before then. You can then change your routine to more of a maintenance one.Even when you just want to "tone up", you are still adding muscle. Your body needs protein to add muscle, even for this. So go ahead and use the protein shakes. But don't use them to replace breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and should be your largest meal. Replace one of your other meals with a shake.

QUESTION:
What's the best brand of Protein Shake for weight loss ?
And what is the best way of using Protein Shake for weight loss ?-
ANSWER:
Whey Isolate. You use it 3x daily. GNC carries the best quality for a pretty good price. it isn't for weight loss, it's for protein so your muscles can repair themselves after working out. creatine is for weight loss. GNC has the powder and the pill, but the pill works best because you won't retain water weight. combine Whey Isolate and Creatine and you'll gain muscle as well as lose fat. Ask the people who work at GNC more if you want specific things =]

ANSWER:
Yes they can, which meal you replace will depend on when you train. Ideally though, you should look at eating breakfast and dinner and replacing lunch with the shake. If you are only taking one shake I would recommend a third before exercise and the other two thirds after. If you buy a good high quiality protein (i.e. at least 80% with low fat and calorie values) you should be able to get away with taking a few of these in a day in any case, depending on various factors like sex, weight, frame etc. You need to give more info really, but hope this helps!----------------------------
Ok you still havent said whether you are male or female lol. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are a guy (cos if you're not then I know NOTHING about young girls anymore and can't help lol). You don't sound particularly overweight at all and at 15 I wouldn't be too worried about taking any supplements even protein shakes.
At your age you need to be careful what sort of exercise you are doing, that body you have has got to last you for a long time! Eat sensibly, try and enjoy your exercise and if you are worried about your weight then just try and limit your 'treats' in your diet ie. really high sugary and fatty foods (limit them - don't cut them out completely - you're 15 for god's sake!). You're nowhere near fully grown yet, so just let your body do what it has to do for a bit!
