Pennsylvania State University researchers discovered that people who ate a large apple, approximately 128 calories, 15 minutes before lunch took in 187 fewer calories during lunch than those who didn't snack beforehand. Apples are loaded with belly-filling fiber, and they require lots of chewing, which can make you think you're eating more than you really are, says study author Julie Obbagy, Ph.D.. Also, if you like bread or pasta, try to eat whole wheat and make sure they don't just "contain" wheat but actually are whole wheat. They not only have fiber and less processed grains, but whole wheat has been found to have other health benefits as well. Try to drink plenty of fluids but not juice or soda. Drink water, and if you don't like just plain water, drink flavored seltzer waters that don't have calories or very few. People don't realize it when they drink all their calories because they don't feel full. Turkey has less fat than chicken, and make sure you eat baked chicken or saute it in a small amount of olive oil and use seasonings for flavoring (i.e. spices, garlic, onions, etc.).       Depends what kind of diet you want, there are thousands out there. Do you want a quick two week diet or a long term diet?

      Try the heart foundation soup diet, this incorporates veges and fruits and soup one week then introduces carbs the next. Be warned this is a fad diet, and they don't really work unless you have super duper amazing will power, to not binge the week after completing it. Your body may also go through shock.       Don't give up on the execise! It may not be working cause you're probably eating too much still. If the workouts are too strenuous then just do walking, an hour brisk walking a day is good exercise, walk the dog or the neighbours dog.       Instead of GRILLED chicken, cook BAKED chicken.
      Instead of DEEP-FRIED fish, cook STEAMED fish.
      Instead of vegetables that are too SALTY, try a vegetable soup with no salt (my mom did it once :D ).
      Try low-fat and high calcium foods, like low-fat milk.
      Eat wheat bars and brown rice or wholemeal bread :D
      In conclusion, do not cook your food with too much oil and salt.
      And I exercise for four hours every week. Maybe you should try that too :D

      I love food too, but I do not love to eat meat, beef, fish and other types of seafood :( I only eat vegetables, tofu and beans :)

      Junk food is a problem, it is not a real food, it is not natural, you do not grow potato chips from the ground, it doesn't contain nutrients, these are the things your body isn't suppose to put in.

      I lost 20 lbs a few years back and never gained it back. It is effortless now.

      For instance for breakfast this morning I had some FiberOne cereal (I always keep a FiberOne bar in my purse in case I am hungry when I am out). For lunch I had 2 boiled eggs, a couple cubes of cheese and some grapes. If I am hungry mid afternoon, I will probably have some broccoli, califlour and baby carrots with some ranch dip. For dinner I am making a nice big veggie salad with a pouch of tuna with some homemade dressing. I love the salads with grilled chicken too. I make them huge to really fill me up every kind of veggie under the sun, sometimes I add nuts or apple slices or grapes.

      nuts(try to avoid too much salt), airpopped popcorn is great if u dont or at least watch how much salt and butter you put on it, fruits, veggies, dry cereal(corn flakes, shredded wheats, cherrios),oatmeal, yogurt(watch the sugary ones)rice cakes, salads....if you really need to cheat get baked chips instead of regular, oatmeal[raisin] cookies instead of oreos and chocolate chip, or look for 100 calorie packs they have like oreo flavored baked wafer snacks which is a pretty fair size and taste with only 100cals in the whole bag

      drinks:
      alot of people get a good bulk of their daily calories from what they drink so avoid sodas, watch sugary fruit drinks and juices, i recommend you drink at least one cup of tea per day(preferably unsweetened). tea has no calorie(if not sweetened) green tea is better known for its aiding weight lost but if you do not like the taste white tea has a milder taste and snapple has tea bags that are infused with natural fruit flavor(still calorie free) which tastes pretty good, and of course water you pretty much cant go wrong with water very healthy

      allow yourself a cheat day every once in a while dont pig out but you can bend your diet a lil(bend not break). your body will eventually adapt to your new eating habits. i'll tell you from experience once i started really getting in shape for kickboxing i stopped eating junk food and fast food and im at the point where not only do i not crave it any more but actually eating it makes me feel sick

      healthy food is expensive becuz its easier to keep artificial and processed foods longer, while healthier foods go bad faster. take trans fat for example worse fat you can eat it has no nutritional value but its used becuz it has a much longer shelf-life(though many people are starting to stop using trans fats). think about what last longer a bag of doritos in the pantry or strawberries in the fridge? what about the urban legend that a twinkie can survive a nuclear blast? junk foods are easier to manufacture and keep therefore costing less

    I'm 14 and a size 11. I'd like to lose some weight in my stomach area. I know that's not possible, because it's targeted weight-loss. I walk about a mile, at least, a day. My only huge drawback is my dad buys all the unhealthy food you could think of. Pies, cake, cookies, brownies, all that. What are some healthy foods I can add to the grocery list? Breakfasts, lunches and dinner foods.. some snack foods, and even low-fat baked goods mix if that exists.

      fruits and veggies. all the healty stuff is on the outside edges of the store. its not found in the rows! if ur eating junk food and u dont want to eat anymore..give it to dad or cover it in salt..yuck! u can also look up healty ways to make the junk food he likes. i eat everything sugar free and u cant taste the diffrence!

      u can safly loose 2 to 3 lbs a week like i did. it took me 9 months to lose 90 lbs. everyday is filled the choices..keep making the right ones and ur weight will fly off. jus breathing and relaxing u burn somthing like 1400 so jus make sure that ur burning more then ur consuming.

      u can check out youtube for free vidioes too. i do hip hop abs with shaun t and super abs with billy blanks! i am now learning to belly dance..all cuz of the free vidoes there. i look so good i git hit on by guys 1/2 my age!

      what else helped me was when i put up a calender and i marked off what i did on each day and i felt better with th most days marked, and it was in my livingroom right where i see it all the time! good luck.

      work out everyday..alteast cardio. and push urself harder. i too was at a plautue then i relized i was doing "light" weights..when i wanted to have my muscle burn my fat!

      another tip is to git like 3 lunch bags (the cooler type) and make up all the food that u will eat for the day and put it in 1, making 3 bags at a time will help on days when u dont feel like the hassle u can grab one and go. it works for me, i fill mine with 100 calorie pack of chips, gum, fruit and a few powers to add to my drinks. i freeze 3 water bottle and not only can i drink them but they keep my food cold!

      and what is ur calorie intake? are u maxing out everyday? i found for me that staying under 1000 worked better for me! join sparkpeople.com that is an awsome site. u can download a diet plan and a workout plan. plus there is tons of info and tips!

    Does eating low calorie foods promote weight loss?
    For example, tonight for dinner I ate a salad, cooked spinach, and cherries. I felt super full after eating it but that meal only accounts to 200 calories (or less). And for breakfast I'll consume about 250-300. (nonfat yogurt, nonfat milk, and fruit) all my meals are like that and I'm never hungry between meals. I don't feel empty or as If I don't eat enough. So does a diet like this help with weight loss or does it make it not happen? (I also work out)

      Yes, it helps. It's smart eating. Just make sure your macronutrient ratios are good. They should be about 55/20/25 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively).

      Fat loss is all about the calorie.

    What are the healthiest foods for rapid detox and weight loss?
    I would like to go on a cleanse and start a healthy regimen for the new year. What are the best foods/combinations to do a detox and then a weight loss regimen? Are these cleansers like Puristat a bunch of hog wash or are they any good? I know to keep a low carb, low sugar, low fat diet, but are there any super food secrets I should know? Or juicing recipes that are great? Thanks so much!

      I was just watching a segment on channel 3 news in Cleveland OHio about detoxing... I tried one that really did seem to work well... as long as I followed it to the t... which I didn't

      Anyway the segment basicially said that all the detox systems on the shelves aren't worth a whole lot, and basicially don't do a whole lot as a matter of fact when they contacted the companies they couldn't even tell you what detoxing is.... interesting

      anyway at the end of the segment all she said was that PLENTY of water and TONS of greens (veggies that are green... the greener the better)... I would add to that myself spices.. like cayenne pepper or the like or maybe some tabassico sauce (great metabo booster as well)

      I'm not saying that the detox boxes don't work but if you want a decent on your going to have to pay upwards 50 bucks.... and you may have a decent system that will work pretty effectivetly...

      also there is also the master clense diet... which is water lemon (squeeze in the water) a table spoon of maple syrup, and a table spoon of cayanne pepper.... 3 times a day, with 8 ounces of water...
      this is a fasting cleanse so you don't eat for 3-5 days depending.... but it doesn't detox... it just makes you poo and starve... but you lose the weight...

      I'd recommend TONS of WATER and GREEN VEGGIES.... stick to that for about 2 weeks (qhich is what a detox program calls for) your clean yourself out and be ready for a great start to a new life... P.S. as an added bonus----- you can take the money that you would have spent and go get yourself a colonic...yum.,
