      It's tough when you have to juggle free time and the kids. Kudos to you for doing a job that many don't realize is not easy.

      Depending if you have decent financial freedom, you could invest in a stationary bike, or a treadmill. The only dieting trick I know of is to control the amount of calories you intake, and stay away from deep fried foods. Eating organic foods is always helpful. If you read food labels, you'll notice the majority of foods on our store shelves have artificial ingredients, monosodium glutamate...all that stuff won't help with anything that has to do with a healthy diet. I struggled with weight up until about 4 years ago. I'm 5'8, and I was 207 lbs. Within a year and a half, I was able to drop down to 160 lbs. However, I was fortunate to have the luxury of enough time to run a swim a lot. I included grapefruit in my diet, which is claimed to help a lot with weight loss. But i'm not sure if it helped, since I was exercising a lot. I was always informed that if I took any medication, I needed to check with my physician before adding grapefruit into my daily diet because it could have a negative reaction. So if you decide to try grapefruit, and you take medication, check with your doc to see if it's okay! Good luck!

      3) Eat half of your normal portion at each meal.
      4) Never skip breakfast as it wakes up your metabolism and gets it working for the day.
      5) Only allow yourself one sweet on Saturday and one on Sunday (unless it's a special occasion like a birthday).
      6) Drink mostly water and plenty of it. Save sweet drinks for special occasions. Limit soda-even diet. Skim milk is excellent!

      For lunches, eat grapefruit (with no added sugar) and drink water. Grapefruit diet really does work, I don't care what anyone tells you it's the truth. Just stay away from HEAVY calorie food such as rootbeer floats, chocolate sundaes, mcdonalds and eat less junk foods.
      I wish you the luck of the world....I really hope you strive your goal, and go through with it. I did it last summer and lost 98 pounds. Make sure you have music to listen to, and running really helps.

    i was diagnosed with pcos last year ,late last year,and since then have regular reviews/etc at my docs,am supposed to go back to the hospital to see the gyno,but was put off as she offered me no words of wisdom,other than your weight is caused by the syndrome,but you need to lose it,come back in 6mths.
    Doc wasn't over the moon that she'd said this,but said it would be more of a case of advice and help to me on the diet side,and any other treatment/medicines for it eg the pcos.
    Anyhow,i have seen a dietician at my docs,she said i am to watch everything i eat and in look at labels and follow it by 100gms ,so per 100gms i should not eat anything with more than 10gms sugar,and 5-8gms of fat. I have tried doing this a bit but have not really felt that it will help,also not sure what the best tip is with pcos to lose weight,i have read in some places,cut down on carbs,but then i'm sort of picking at things and end up bingeing on them again,i am aware about the connection with carbs and the blood sugar etc.

      After spine surgery I gained 60 plus lbs. From family being nice and giving me all the things I wanted. From the surgery I could not exercise and walking was a chore. So with spine damage and no chance at exercise I remembered what my high school coach told me.
      “It calorie in and calorie burned” The way to burn weight is burn more than you take in. If you do this you will loose weight. So I counted calories and I nearly starved.
      I started reading the diets out there. Atkins and south beach. Tried Atkins and lost weight. After loosing several lbs I shared the diet with friends and it worked for them as well. One fellow went from size 48 to 38 pants, stopped taking BP medication and stopped taking diabetes medication. Ate eggs and bacon for breakfast and life was good. I just had trouble holding to the diet. In time I gained the weight back. After the yo-yo dieting and radical eating soups and such, I started to do the common sense diet.
      I found something that works and I plan to write a book on it. In the mean time I am will to share this much. The more your bowels work the better you will feel. Turn your diet into a high fiber diet and the more you eat the more you will loose. I find that “Total” raisin Bran will speed your digestion. So eat two or three bowel per day. Salads of fresh veggies will help as well. Yes, use dressing of some type and you need fats. Whole milk, (have documentation to prove it). And Metamucil in the mornin and after noon will help clean your bowels and keep you going. In time you will be able ot eat most any thing you like (as long as it makes you poop) and eat all you like. Things like steak with fat and good cuts of meat. Stay away from burgers and processed foods. Chicken meat and good cuts of pork are OK.
      If you snack at night eat the Raisin bran and it will move you in the morning. No white bread, high grain breads are OK.
      You need to eat 5 or 6 times per day. From early morning on. Eat small meals and in the am add fresh fruits.
      I promise you will loose weight and in time start feeling much better. I have given this info to many people and all have lost weight,. None have had medical problems from it.

      I've lost 20 pounds in 60 days, which might not seem like a lot of weight, but I did it naturally. I did not try any of the yo-yo diets. I did it the good old-fashioned natural way. You see, losing weight should be a lifestyle change, not a diet. It took time to put on the weight, and you should give yourself time to take it off.

      I enjoyed mini meals, eating every two hours. I was not hungry at all because I was eating every two hours and eating healthy foods... foods that I really enjoyed. I didn't have anything processed, or prepared like some diets (Nutrisystem, weight watchers, etc). I'm not knocking those diets, but anything that can be shipped, dried in a box or prepared ahead of time and laced with preservatives is not good to put into your body.

      As for exercise, I worked out on my glider machine in the house for 20 minutes five days a week. You can use the threadmill. The secret to making just 20 minutes of exercise effective for me was that I moved as fast as I could (until my body couldn't go anymore) for about 3 minutes, and then I slowed down for another two minutes.

      So if you're on the Threadmill, just walk or run really, really fast for a few minutes and then slow down to a moderate pace... rinse and then repeat. I also run up and down two flights of stairs (15 steps) in my house 25 times. I would spread it out throughout the day and do five flights each time.

      1) Eat Regularly - Do not be tempted to skip meals, as this will only slow down your metabolism. Eat small meals 5-6 times per day. This may sound a lot, but if you break it down into 3 main meals, plus 3 healthy snacks, it becomes a lot more manageable. Eating in this way will keep your metabolism firing meaning your body will burn more calories.

      2) Interval Training - This type of exercise is basically training at high intensity and low intensity for short bursts in the same session. For example, when running, you may sprint for 30 seconds and jog or walk for 2-3 minutes, then sprint again, then jog/walk again and so on. Doing 20 minutes of this type of training can achieve the same results as doing 40 minutes of jogging at a steady, continuous pace. Interval Training can work for many different types of cardio, whether it be running, swimming, cycling etc... It's a great fat-burner!

Lunch is usually an apple and a granola bar...but sometimes I forget my lunch or steal from my friends trays. My mom cooks the meals...so I have no control over that.) I tell myself that if I eat a big lunch or breakfast, I won't have a snack later, but I always seem to end up have a snack and going overboard!!! I love fruit and most veggies, and unfortunately...carbs. Is there ANYTHING that I can do (without paying for any kind of diet program etc...) to help me loose weight? I can't exactly go and buy some diet pills or anything or go to weightwatchers. I live in a VERY hilly area, and so it seems difficult to start out a daily running routine in/on such harsh terrain.       When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
      If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
      will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
      underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
      exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
      diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
      after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
      your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
      you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
      cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
      diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
      calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
      start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
      most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
      lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
      disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
      your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
      bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
      to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

      I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

      Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

      First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

      This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

      However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
