Learn The Fast Way To Lose Weight

The Diet

A lot of talk has been generated over the past several years about fats. Are they good? Bad? Should fats be eliminated from our diets altogether? While this was once a common notion, it is now widely understood that not all fats are created equal. There are ones to avoid (like trans-fats), and ones to embrace, like essential fatty acids.

Essential fatty acids, or EFA's for short, are exactly what their name implies: an essential part of every person's diet. Unfortunately, these so-called "good fats" are usually the ones most lacking in most people's diets. Part of the problem lies within the fact that EFA's cannot be constructed within the body from other components. Instead, they must be consumed directly from foods which contain them. Herein lies another problem: many foods which are commonly found in North American diets do not contain significant amounts of EFA's.

Essential fatty acids are critical to the healthy formation of cell membranes. In fetuses, they are necessary components of brain and nervous system development. In adults, they help to maintain heart health and control hormonal levels. Without adequate intake of essential fatty acids, humans are at risk for high blood pressure, poor blood circulation and consistency, and immune system disorders.

Essential fatty acids, which consist of Omega-3 and Omega-6, are found largely in fish. They are also found in plant-based sources such as flaxseed, soybeans, certain nuts, berries, and vegetables, and in leafy green vegetables like broccoli, kale and hemp. North Americans often do not take in enough of these types of foods to garner even the minimum daily requirement of EFA's. This should also be reconciled with the fact that much of the North American diet consists of processed foods. When foods are processed, it strips them of many of their natural nutrients. In other words, eating a fast-food fish sandwich is not the same as consuming a fresh trout steak.

Incorporating more essential fatty acids into your diet may not be as difficult as you think. You don't need to make any radical changes. By simply adding to, or being creative with, your current diet, you can probably get all the essential fatty acids that you need. Some easy ways to do this include (but are not limited to):

* Staying away from processed foods. Stick to fresh or fresh-to-frozen foods for maximum benefits.

* Adding walnuts, which are high in EFA's (especially Omega-6) to salads, baking, and breakfast cereals. Or, simply pop a handful of walnuts for a nutritious snack.

* Cooking with ground flaxseed. It can be sprinkled on cereal or toast with ease. It can also be added to batter and dough of home-baking. It can even be dashed into soups and sauces. Because it is so finely ground, it's texture will be barely noticeable. It will also add a slightly nutty flavor to your food. A little flaxseed goes a long way!

* Trying to incorporate fresh fish into your diet. Strive for at least once per week, though health professionals and nutritionists recommend two times weekly. If your family turns its nose up at fish, experiment with different recipes. Tuna fish sandwiches are also a good source of EFA's.

* Eating more berries. Instead of an apple, try a handful of fresh blueberries for a snack once or twice a week.

* Serving salad with every dinner. Try to look for dark salad greens (like kale and spinach). Iceberg lettuce does not contain significant amounts of EFA's.

* Getting creative with tofu. Even if you don't like to eat it straight up, you can mix it into other dishes. In its soft form, it can be used to form the base for salad dressings and even desserts like cheesecake.

* When cooking with oil, opt for canola, walnut, flaxseed, or soy oils, which are a good source of EFA's.

These are not radical changes, but 00004000 are uncomplicated ways to increase your intake of those important fats. Changes in lifestyle can be difficult for some so there are omega-3 and omega-6 supplements available as well. With time, you'll probably notice an increase in your energy level and better immunity against illness. EFA's are fats that you can feel good about eating and the benefits will last a lifetime.

    • ANSWER:
well, pretty sure there is not one work out plan they follow. each persons body type is different, so different work outs are needed. most of their plans are probably starvation, cause not many look very healthy. if you are looking to get a hot body like one of them, working out daily, changing to a healthy diet, and possibly looking into getting a personal trainer will probably be the best route for you.

    What's the best balanced diet?
What would be the best balanced diet for this sort of lifestyle?

I basically wake up at 6:30am every day then cycle 9 miles to work at 12 i do a 20 minute arm exercise then go on a 2mile walk which takes me 30 mins. I then cycle 9miles home at 4pm.

I do this Mon-Fri and only bie the 18 miles sat and sun.

I tend to eat porridge for breakfast of bran flakes, then a museli bar (Something similar) or soup or fruit for lunch. Then I have anything for dinner (Rice, spag bowl, fish etc whatever i fancy and i make sure it's healthy with veg.) And then I'll have a healthy dessert a fruit or yoghurt etc.
I also take multi vitamins, iron and Acai Berry in the morning. As for luquids I have water a lot through the week sometimes with no added sugar fruit juice and will occasionally have a 0 calorie or 0 sugar fizzy drink.

I haven't gotten ill for ages, but I always get extremely tired around 3pm and I've also developed polysystic ovaries and haven't had a period since february :-(

So I'm looking for a better balanced diet a food routine I can stick to to get me the nutrients i need.

  13. QUESTION:
How long does it take for the body to burn off excess fat from1 day/large meal??
Say you had a binge day (1000 calories over usual intake)..how long would it take to burn that stored fat, WITHOUT doing excersise..meaning just go on with youf diet as usual for the week

    • ANSWER:
Here's some background: As a general rule, every one pound of body fat is essentially 3500 calories. To burn one pound of fat per week you must cut 500 calories/day from your diet or burn an extra 500 calories with exercise. Multiply the number of pounds by 3500, then divide the total number by the number of days that you want as a goal.

One thousand calories that are consumed on a whim may be stored as fat but the rate at which you burn it depends on your normal level of activity. For instance, if you normally play raquetball for an hour everyday, you'll burn it off faster than someone who sits and plays Warcraft for an hour.

If you remove 1000 calories from your diet during the course of the week, by swapping your can of soda that you have everyday for water or skipping your favorite latte` every morning, you can go on with life as usual.

      I hope this helps.

  15. QUESTION:
I'm going on a diet and i had a question about the timing of it?
i already got how the diet works and all that down. im losing 2 lbs a week till i'm not fat by taking in 500 less calories than my needed calories per day eating and also working off an extra 500 per day. only problem is, i have avsolutely no idea what a "day" is. i mean its obviously 24 hours but i sleep whenever i get sleepy. some days i go to sleep at 6 pm some days i go to sleep at 2 am, its completely random. so how do i base my days. at the moment( i just started the diet a few hours ago) im just considering a day from 1:01 am to 1 am. also i wouldnt mind a suggestion for something that shreds calories cause it takes a long time doing pretty much anything to shed 500. today i walked my pitbull .8mi on the railroad tracks carrying a big rock(bout 10 lbs) going 8.7mph. i burned 370 calories or so. i DO have a lot of time on my hands but not to walk in the middle of august as we only have the railroad tracks behind my house and its hot here. the heat doesnt really bother me but i weigh 259 lbs and i suspect it does things to me i cant feel and i'm not diggin the negative effects. im 6'3" and i dont look like peter griffin im just kind of heavy set. but my goal is 190 lbs if thats even possible at my height and width. thanks for all the help in advance and sorry for the terrible punctuation, im really sleepy and didnt feel like proofreading or stopping for grammar, you can actually flame if you want.
ive asked plenty of questions on yahoo answers and ive usually gotten answers but almost never a right answer and almost never on the same day. its been 4-5 minutes and i have two answers...wow

    • ANSWER:
A day is when you wake up from sleeping 8-10 hours until you go to sleep. If you oversleep often it could screw up with your matabolisom and screw up your diet. Sleep not enough it could do the same thing. Anything less than 6 hours I'd consider a nap.

  16. QUESTION:
What is the best way to maintain a low carb diet without caving every day?!?
So i'm 17 and over the past year and half i have noticed myself gaining some weight in my abdomen area. I am pretty short for my age, so me gaining the weight in my stomach looks even more wider with a short torso. After I eat, i bloat A LOT. Like it looks like im pregnant. I've come to the conclusion that it's the higher intake of carbs. When I was little, I absolutely couldn't stand sweets and bread. But now it's like i crave it....so what do I do to get back on a better diet so I can get a flatter stomach and get my body used to burning the fat instead of the stored fat from carbs?

  17. QUESTION:
I want to loose about 5-10 KGs within (nearly) 2 months and I decided I might use The Maple Syrup Diet?
Or more popularly known as the "Beyonce Diet" since she used it when she was filming "Dream Girls" to lose approx. 10 KGs in just 2 weeks. I've researched the Diet and I've been seeing articles and things like that saying it's actually dangerous because you are not getting the needed Nutrients.

So my question is, If I start using the diet but instead of drinking ONLY the syrup but also taking other things like fruits and Veges to get the needed Nutrients, will the diet be effective? If not, how can I take it with out bringing danger to my health or are there any effective and safe things I could use to loose the weight? I tried the normal exercise and healthy eating but I really can't keep it and all I want is to loose a few Kgs before the 25th of November (My sisters wedding). Any help would be highly appreciated :)

    • ANSWER:
10 kilos is very easy to lose within 2 months, you dont even need to go on any specific diet. and the beyonce diet was the lemonaide diet, not the maple syrup diet. that just rots your teeth. just exercise 30 minutes every day (even if you just go for a fast walk) or play a game of basketball or soccor for 30 minutes, just make your heart race fast. even just dance around for awhile. and obviously, dont eat fast foods, eat fish and chicken (not fried) and vegies and fruits.

  18. QUESTION:
What are the benefits of not eating pork, red-meat, chicken, and gluten free food?
I want to start eating more healthy, and leave these things out of my diet. But what are the benefits??

    • ANSWER:
There's a case to be made for vegetarianism. Vegetarians seem healthier in some ways. They have less high blood pressure and heart disease, they tend much less to be overweight, and I think they live longer on average. But that doesn't mean that meat is bad for you. Vegetarians pay a lot more attention to what they eat altogether.

Gluten is not bad unless you happen to have celiac disease. People with celiac disease can't metabolize gluten, so they have to avoid it. If you don't have the disease, it won't be bad for you at all. It's in wheat and whole wheat has a lot of good stuff in it.

  19. QUESTION:
When you started to eat a vegan diet, when did you notice a difference of how you felt?
Today I started a Vegan diet and just ate my first all vegan meal. i dont really feel satisfied, but i know that will change. I decided to do this to be healthier and to not feel so sluggish all the time. How old were you when you started your vegan life style?
after how long til you started to feel better?
    any other benefits?
also what are you favorite vegan meals?

    sorry for all the questions!

    • ANSWER:
Hey! I'm 14 years old and i'd been a vegetarian for years, then I became obsessed with nutrition and health, I researched the vegan diet and how to do it right. Now i'm a vegan and I feel great!! I definitely notice a difference, I feel very awake and full of energy, and happier! i've also noticed a difference in my physical appearance, clearer skin, healthier nails and hair and I'm happier with my body.

You say you didn't feel satisfied, this is probably normal if you are used to heavy meats and dairy products. Try this, make a healthy meal filled with fiber and protein (which will keep you full) and eat slowly, stop eating when you are satisfied. This is a great rule to go by because that's how your body should be treated, not shoving food down after you're full or depriving yourself. You'll get used to this vegan diet and you'll feel great!

Make sure that you don't become iron deficient or b12 deficient which are things that vegans tend to be lacking. This can make you feel dizzy, sluggish and tired. It's smart to take a supplement.

Make sure to eat lots of whole grains, nuts, beans, fresh fruits and vegetables. Get a good amount of protein, calcium, iron, vitamin D, b12, fiber and healthy fats. Eat lots of whole foods compared to processed! You can easily be a unhealthy vegan seeing that lots of junk food is vegan.

Stay away from trans fats, bad saturated fats (coconut is a good saturated fat), non-whole grain food, sugar, highly processed foods, weird additives and preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners and flavors. Read ingredients! You'll know if something is healthy or not.

I recommend reading veganist, it's a great book that will tell you a lot about how the vegan diet benefits your body and prevents lots of diseases and illnesses! it was the book that initially sent me on a passionate vegan adventure (also the book that turned oprah vegan!)

Check out my vegan blog, I have some recipes, awesome vegan grocery products and lots more

Can I add fabric at the zipper to make a dress fit?
So my self and the other bridesmaids ordered our dresses for a wedding. We were told to get a bigger size then what we tried on which we did. The bride went back a couple weeks later and changed the order to a smaller size. Now I just got my dress just two weeks from the wedding and it does not zip al the way it fits perfect everywhere else except right at the chest. There is no enough fabric at the seams to use that. What am I to do? Besides go on a serious diet.

    • ANSWER:
Easiest fix is to add at the underarm seam. Unless you walk around with your arms over your heads all day, no one will notice.

Talk to your alterationist about what s/he'd suggest, given the design of the dresses. And pelt your bride with stale dinner rolls for changing the order.

Would he be okay carrying a large man (around 280lbs)? Like I said, he sounds perfect for what we're looking for, that is the only concern. Thanks!

  35. QUESTION:
Am I the right weight for my height or should I diet? People call me fat?
Basically I asked this question before but the measurements were a little off since they were taken before christmas time and the question posted after, also I wore shoes when I got my height checked the first time so this time I got the correct figures and I wanted to know, seeming as they are worse than what I thought I was before, should I do something about my weight?

14 years old, male, 160lbs, 5ft 7, not really any muscle tissue and I don't exercise unless I have to in school, so should I do something about my weight or am I ok?

PS: I get bullied a lot because of my weight in school and my friends are much lighter and more athletic, in fact I was the only one who never finished the 400m sprint type thing 3 years ago in school so I guess you could figure out I am not really very athletic :S

    • ANSWER:
The thing you want to look up is "body mass index", or "bmi", there are a number of calculators of bmi on the web. You are at the lower end of the overweight category for adults. You may yet get a bit taller but have probably nearly finished growing heightwise at age 14. As you are still young, it would be a really great thing for you to seriously consider doing something about your health, changing your outlook on health to be more pro-active and positive, and in practical terms doing more enjoyable exercise and eating healthier (while still enjoyable) food. If you don't get on top of your health while young, you may find you get more overweight as you become an adult, and chronic overweight/obesity leading to other health problems or disease, possibly social problems, and affecting your ability to do many fun things, as well as leading to low self-esteem. You can perhaps discuss your wish for having a more positive and pro-active health and fitness outlook, either with your doctor, or perhaps your physical education teacher at school, or another health or fitness professional. Also speak to your ma or pa or whoever cooks your food, about whether they can support you by giving you meals with more veg and fruit, and smaller portions of fat/cholesterol food such as meat and dairy, replacing them with legumes/wholegrains/vegetables - you could maybe research healthy eating with your parents.
Good luck! Being a bit overweight now, there is absolutely no reason why you can't become athletic and very healthy, with results to be seen fairly quickly, as long as you have a positive attitude about it and are interested enough in your own health to take the time.

    Master Cleanse(Lemonade Diet) With pills?
Ok, I'm EXTREMELY interested in this ''Master Cleanse'' diet, I want to do it for 40 days.
I heard that the diet lacks Protein and that you may shed hair/loose nails because of it. I'm wondering, If I take Protein pills along with some of the other nutrients I'm lacking because of the diet, if that will be safe/enough for me to go on for 40 days. Maybe I'll reduce it to 7 days or 15/20 ... I'm not sure yet but I need more information. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
diet pills are not healthy or effective long-term
they reap havoc on the endocrine system; the function in our body which regulates everything from body temperature to hair growth to hormones & skin condition. & will most certainly not create an ideal environment in which a baby may survive. eat healthy & get moderate exercise. you can start by walking 30 min/day & you will be doing a world of good for yourself & your baby.

  44. QUESTION:
What diet should i take to regain the lost nutrients after semen ejaculation ?
I am 28 years Old . I 've been having sex regularly(2-3 times a week) since last 12 years ...
After ejaculation my body (espically legs) start feeling weak . Please tell me what diet should i take to regain the lost energy quickly so that i can have sex 2-3 times in a day without any sign of weakness. In other words kindly tell me how to regain the nutrients quickly that were lost after semen ejaculation by eating good (vegetarian) diet ?

    • ANSWER:
Your legs being shaky after sex is from muscle fatigue. The muscles aren't used to working as long and as much as you forced them to do during sex -or- your body is still recovering from the general exertion of having sex.

It has nothing to do with nutrients or the fact that you ejaculated.

To reduce the chance of this occurring, you need to get more exercise and build up your stamina for physical exertion.

Note that this is not going to let you have sex more often, that's completely different than having muscle fatigue. How often you can have sex in a day is related to how fast your body recovers from having sex and how aroused you can become after having had sex.

You may want to switch off of a vegetarian diet and see if that helps. Vegetarian diets do not provide all the things that a person needs, though it can come close.

  45. QUESTION:
Can Diet pills risk your chances of ever becoming pregnant?
I Am about to start taking diet pills after trying to diet for the last 2 years and being unsuccessful. Would taking diet pills decrease my chances of ever becoming a mam? If so I will NOT take the pills.

Also I am on antibiotics: Flucloxacillin and If I do take these diet pills, will the antibiots stop the diet pills working?

    Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Diet pills are associated with heart or organ damage. Not associated with infertility. Antibiotics generally have no effect on diet pills.

My suggestion is to get a medical workup as well as a COMPLETE log of what you eat over two weeks (that includes measuring your portions). Determine if you have a medical problem or not. I had a terrible time trying to lose weight, so I get it.

Also, try following something closer to a low carb diet. Eliminating or severely reducing starchy foods (such as potatoes, rice and pasta) and flour products really does make a difference over time. Most lower calorie foods simply replace the fat with sugar, which doesn't help.

  46. QUESTION:
How important is the diet when it comes to a workout plan?
I read these magazines that have these excellent workout plans. I do the workouts, but I don't do the crazy diet that they show with it. I don't eat a lot of egg whites and things like that, but I do make sure I eat healthy and drink protein shakes like "Muscle Milk". Is it important to follow the diet plan that they have in these magazines? I mean, prisoners don't follow a series diet plan and they come out pretty ripped.

    • ANSWER:
Well me being a competitive bodybuilder, me and my friends at the gym always acknowledge diet as the most important aspect to bodybuilding. If you don't eat properly then you wont get the results you want; for example if you are wanting to get ripped than you need to cut back on the calories and increase your protein intake. If you want to add mass then you need to increase your caloric intake and eat plenty of carbs. Remember weather your a bodybuilder or not, you are what you eat, and if you don't diet properly then you wont get the results that you are looking for in the gym.

  47. QUESTION:
What is a good diet for someone without a gall bladder who is trying to lose weight?
I eat healthy, exercise but it seems that no matter what I try I don't seem to be losing weight. People keep telling me to eat a low fat diet but the doctor told me that eating low fat is what killed my gall bladder. He said that everything in moderation. However it seems that if I eat too much protein I get sick, if I eat low fat I get sick. I am so confused until I am on the verge of just giving up. I try to balance it out but I don't seem to lose a pound. Can someone help? I need realistic help. I have a very understanding family but I don't want to make them suffer with special diet. I can prepare two meals for dinner if need be but it would be easier to just prepare one. Any suggestions? I am also looking for something long term. More like a life change as apposed to a diet.

    • ANSWER:
Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:

-- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
      -- Beans/Legumes
-- Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
-- Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
      -- Eggs
-- Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
      -- Olive oil
      -- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
-- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
-- Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea

  48. QUESTION:
Does a low carb diet lower the amount of good bacteria in your gut?
If I go on a low carb diet, will it lower the amount of good bacteria in my gut?

Also, if I take probiotics, will they be able to be sustained in my gut on a low carb diet or will the probiotics be ineffective in providing benefits if I am on a low carb diet?

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
No, a "low carb" diet will not ruin the good bacteria in your gut unless you're eating way too much cheese. The probiotics would be a good idea too. Also, "low carb" diets are not a good idea. Better to eat plenty of unrefined carbs like fruits and veggies for fiber. If you're eating just protein or fat it's not good for the kidneys, esp. long term. Dr. Atkins, who popularized the low carb diets died of a heart attack after all.

If you are really looking the best way to diet,
I suggest doing what this mom did and combining the Acai diet with a cleansing program for the best result

  50. QUESTION:
Does the cabbage soup diet actually work? How much weight have people lost on this diet?
I've tried this diet before, only I ended up giving in after only a few days! But was wondering what people's experiences of doing this diet are? Is it worth me trying again? I have about 7 pounds to lose in a week!

    • ANSWER:
Baby.. Crash diets are the surest way of not doing Weight Reduction procedures. Skipping meals and living on Cabbage Soup deprives your body of a whole lot of vital macro and micro nutrients.. It is not beneficial in the long run to indulge in such unscientific methods (pl don't mind the pun..)

You have not given any statistics on your height / weight.. Going by your measure of 7 pounds to lose per week..

It has been calculated that 1 pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories. This means that in order to lose 1 pound we have to walk for about 12.5 hours. So don't expect fast weight loss and remember to eat sensibly.

Just like you don't eat once a week and stock up for the whole week's body requirements, exercising once a week is also a non-starter (no benefit). To get tangible benefits out of your exercise regimen, you must sweat it out vigorously at least 5 times a week for 30-45 minutes sessions each.

Eating vegetables (more importantly, shunning non-veg - as they have more calories per unit weight) is only one step in the weight reduction process.

Diet, Supplementation, Exercise, Positive Mental Attitude - all these are required for a decent weight loss program. Patience and persistence are also very critical virtues in your endeavour.

You must try Amway's Positrim Healthy Living Weight Management Program to reduce weight systematically without starving your body of essential nutrients. you may get in touch with me for your requirements and i can guide you on how to buy them..
