      I understand the problem with meds and weight gain. Going through it myself. However, I would not risk any supplement etc. This is because they may have something in them that could trigger a manic state. Supplements are not required to be tested by the FDA and we don't always know what is in these supplements and what might trigger an exacerbation in our symptoms. I do agree with the other poster about exercise. It is sooooo hard to do. I seriously have problems with staying motivated but my 15 year old (also bipolar) excercises everyday and she actually weighs less AND she eats whatever she wants. She just gets a lot of excercise and it works. Hope that helps.

      Well here is the problem, the only thing that actually honestly works is ephedra and the FDA is doing their best to ban it.. so Im using stimerex ES but they have just changed their formula thanks to the FDA. But I have a few recommendations which are closer to the old formula and should work. The old formula of Stimerex ES with ephedra works hands down. Ive recommended it to several of my friends and they have all lost weight ..including myself..with no exercise...yes i know this is not healthy..blahblahlabh.. but here is the email I received with the different options:

      If you noticed on the website Hi-Tech has changed their formula. We have had this formula for the past 1 1/2 months. It now contains 25mg of Ephedra Extract rather than the 25mg of Ephedrine Group Alkaloids (Both Ephedra but uses a different part of the plant).       As an *addition* to a diet, no.. it's useless. However, if you use it correctly, as a *replacement* to other sources of calories, it's great.

      If you cut down your daily fat intake to 30 grams or less, and reduce carbs by a ton, you can stay plenty healthy by taking in extra protein (50-100 gram's a day for moderately active males) as a replacement for the lost fat/carbs.

      Fat = 9 calories, Carbs = 4 calories, and Protein also = 4 calories. Any can meet your body's energy requirements so long as you still get *some* of the others.

      The quality is different, though. Fat is just fat. Carbs are just sugars waiting to be turned into fat. Protein is energy and also used for everything from cell repairs to muscle/tissue growth, etc. If you're combining this with exercise, the protein will especially help with muscle growth and healing all of those sore spots early on.

      So if you cut out fat/carbs, and take in more of your day's calories from protein.. yes, it will help with weight loss. But just adding protein without making any other changes won't do anything.

      This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

      However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called ProShapeRX. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder.       I took trimspa for about 2 months and lost almost 20lbs. I cut out all soft drink and caffeine along with it. I am also a full time student and I feel the same way about being too tired to go and work out. The only thing about trimspa and many other diet pill is that if you have any heart problems they can be very dangerous. There was one problem I had with trimspa was that I got the jitters so I quit taking them. I can't fully contribute the jitters to trimspa because I cut out a lot of sugar and caffeine.

    I am a 34 year old mother of three. I recently had to start taking Kepra for seizures. I have went from 138 up to 179 in three months.       I've taken Keppra, so I know that diet and exercise don't work for that... I found that if I woke up and drank as much water as I could and didn't eat breakfast for 45 minutes it helped suppress my appetite throughout the day. Just make sure you drink as much water as you can. Avoid products with caffeine in them (that can induce seizures, not to mention losing weight causes your body chemistry to change. The less stress, the less likely you're going to have a problem). I would also try to start eating more fresh and raw fruits and veggies. Blueberries are good. They have a bit of sugar, but they'll keep you clean internally. Try to walk for at least thirty minutes in a straight shot every day. The best time for exercise is after the water in the morning. Nothing too strenuous even. Simply walking will wake up your metabolism for the day.

      The models use a combination of heroin and starvation.
      (I know I am a doctor, and I constantly struggle to keep my weight "ideal" so if there was an easy way, I would do it!)
      Try oolong tea. Purchase a water boiling hot pot at the asian store that will keep nice hot water on hand all day. Then, sip the oolong tea when you are hungry. Take a vitamin daily.

      Try ZMA (Zinc monomethionine aspartate). If you workout on a regular basis, take these before bed. They really boost your testosterone levels... really! And it's easier to build lean muscle.

      You will notice some things right away like increased semen, increased body hair, etc.

      Don't take this stuff if you are on any kind of rx meds such as anti-depressants, etc. They have valerian root to help you sleep and interferes with meds... but that's about it.

      But if all else remains the same (your diet choices and your exercise program - or lack thereof), you are not going to see a worthwhile change. There is no magic pill or elixir that will help you lose weight and keep it off. (Not that's very healthy for you.)
