      I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

      Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

      First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

      This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

      However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work.       Bro, I would try something like a green tea about 3 times per day. don't go with any of the scam pills in the bottle. If they worked people would be skinny and stop buying them and the pill companies would be out of biz. But people just keep getting bigger.

      Usually losing weight is simple numbers. You need to know your basic metabolic rate (BMR). Once you know your BMR then you can design a diet lower in calories than your BMR.

      But.... it is not always that simple. You could also have metabolic anomalies or even hormone irregularities that can make losing weight virtually impossible.

However, you need to find an activity that you enjoy that happens to include a lot of moving around, like riding a bike, or playing the drums. The top reason people give up on their exercise plan is because they get bored!

      But what diet to choose? If you want to really get serious about losing weight, why not try a professionally planned diet?       If you're doing low carb/ high protein, make sure you're getting your protein from generally fatty sources (if you eat chicken, eating something with it that has a good source of Omega 3's, like an avocado).

      I'd recommend looking at the guidelines of the paleo diet. When I started, I dropped from 197 to 188 in about a month. Slowly, my weight increased up to around 194, where is stayed for several months (roughly losing about the same amount of fat as muscle gained). Right now, I'm back up to 197, with a lot more muscle mass and a lot less fat... and I'm still getting stronger.

      Also, knock the medical marijuana crap out. You're 20, you don't need that stuff... and it's going to limit your gains.

      I'm sorry, there's really no such thing as a safe diet pill. They almost all contain stimulants that can damage the cardiovascular system, and then there's Alli, which can give you explosive diarrhea, so I don't think you want that pill either.

      Diet and exercise should work perfectly fine. I think you're probably either not giving it enough time (you should give it at least a month before you decide you're not seeing results), or you aren't dieting or exercising right.

      As for your diet, you should be eating high protein, high fat (saturated not trans, and no that's not unhealthy), low carb, low sugar. Keep your calorie intake around 1500 a day, carbs around 100-150 g a day, and as little added sugar as you can manage. Make sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies too.

      And you need to push yourself when you exercise. A nice easy pace won't do anything. You have to get sweaty, tired, and work hard. If you don't feel tired when you're done, if you're not out of breath, you're not doing it right. And you need to do both cardio and weight training, but on different days. Try and work out for at least an hour, 4-6 days a week.

    I am looking to lose weight. I have been working out as well as changing habits. I want something to help me a little more. Are there any weight supplements that actually help? I am 245 and 5' 8" and i am looking to go down to 200 or even 190.

      Protein...

      Most supplements come from two basic standpoints: they either speed up your metabolism (which coffee does just as well) or they are diuretics (which softens the stool, and make you poo more... which means less time to absorb calories and nutrients from food - you could buy exlax and it would do the same thing).

      I have used and enjoy a high protein and low carb and low fat diet. I still get to eat the meats that I enjoy (most of them are very lean meats). Carbs are something that humans only relatively recently added to our diets, and now Americans tend to overdose on them.

      Eating a high protein diet will provide you with energy, and the basic building blocks with which to continue building muscle in the gym... however, you will lose weight because it takes work for you body to convert protein into an energy source.

      I eat six times a day (about every 2 hours). I learned this from an Olympic coach I worked with at Penn State. Those are not full meals mind you, but about fist size servings of protein and fruits and veggies - enough to provide a continual source of protein and energy (so you don't experience the doldrums that low blood sugar causes that is another factor in overeating).

      I would highly recommend you speak to someone unbiased and knowledgeable before you consider buying any OTC supplements.

      Beans!
      The favorite right now with the cold weather is 15 bean soup.
      One cup a day is over 100% of RDA of soluble fiber. Binds to fatty acids similar to the way Alli diet pills work. For about 25¢ a day.
      Yes you get a bit gassy at first but after building up the good bacteria in the large intestine it tapers off. Great source of protein, iron, and calcium. And keeps you regular.
      Also act as a complex carb so they make you feel full longer.
      Spice them up with chili and garlic powder, black pepper and onions and diced tomatoes and the spices help increase metabolic rate.
      There you go!

      Hello, April. If you are lucky enough to use a weight loss supplement and not end up with worse problems than when you started, then you would also be doubly lucky to keep that weight off.. because it is only a temporary solution after all. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it needs to be said anyways. Let me explain further...

      There is something you need to understand about why people stay at certain weight categories. The heavier you are, the more calories your body naturally burns per day. So if you average out their eating habits, they will eventually hit a weight number where their loss from being that big evens out with their calorie intake.

      In other words, if you use a pill to drop 20 pounds and don't change a single habit, you will just go right back up. Ask yourself a question.. if you need a weight loss supplement, is your current diet plan really all that great?

      That being said, if you want an alternative that you can check out, I'll link a new diet I've been hearing about below so you can read up on it. I think this might be a better choice than taking a weight loss supplement.

      Well, any supplements to help you lose weight is either going to be a fast loss which also makes for a fast gain when you stop taking it (eg. colon cleanses), it's something that is going to starve your body of certain nutrients that it needs, or it's not going to be a sole source of weight loss. What I mean is that exercise is going to be required for any solid, long-term weight loss... it's also a really good (and safe) way to lose weight. Some of the best ones I've seen that can help lose weight with exercise are Chromium, Tonalin CLA, and/or L-Carnitine.
      In addition to that, I would recommend meeting with a nutritionist or dietitian to see if there is something else that may benefit you more.

      As long as you are at a weight where you are healthy, the most important part is that you are HAPPY with your weight... not that you "should be X pounds", but that no matter what you weigh, you are happy with that instead of striving to be a size 2 or something like that.       I currently will drink roughly 25g of some mediocre whey protein post work out follow by food.You dont need any kind of supplements other then a good Multivitamin. Trust me i worked at GNC for a long time.Pre work outs and thermogenics( weight loss pills) they will be effective i cant knock that but your just going to develop a pyschological dependancy on that stuff fuck that.and chances are youre probably using that magic pill in combination with shitty eating habbits thats keeping you from your target weight without whatever the supplement is.       I totally know where you're coming from - before I lost weight, I tried Hydroxycut and it made me really dizzy and gave me these awful headaches. I suppose that's how you lose weight with it - you feel too sick to eat :) lol

Like I'd drop a bunch of weight at first, but then I'd plateau and not lose another pound - even if I was starving myself and going to the gym everyday!
