Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Good, safe weight loss pills for women?
I'm looking into trying weight loss pills to lose an extra few pounds. I'm 5'7 and around 132 pounds, and my target weight is 120-125. I'm 18 and have a pretty high metabolism (I workout and play women's rugby at my college), however i cannot seem to lose any weight. Any good, safe diet pills?

    • ANSWER:
Pills are not good for you ...The best thing is to cut calories, drink lots of water, eat mostly fruits and veggies. Stay away from the breads and pastas

  2. QUESTION:
safest weight loss pill supplement for women?
I took some pills called hot rocks but they make me dizzy and I fell like throwing up. I want to know the fastest and safest that has worked for you or anyone you know.

    • ANSWER:
working out is the safest. We all know that. Pills can be dangerously dramatic, and I suggest a (if you are seriously obese) stomach staplement or a lapic removal (getting your fat sucked out). But those are all expensive and risky. Please consider working out like you should! Eat veggies and perhaps go on a Percent daily Values diet.

  3. QUESTION:
What are the best weight loss pills for women?
I am 18 years old,5'5 and I weigh 115 pounds. This is about average..but I want to tone up my stomach a little bit and shed maybe like 4 pounds in that area. I heard that weight loss pills help, but I will be working out alongside the pills. So what would be the safest thing that would give me the most energy in my workout.. thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I'm a second year med student, and we actually JUST talked about weight loss today in a clinical management class.

Given your height and weight, your BMI (body mass index) is 19.15. That is WONDERFUL. Your weight is completely normal. You have absolutely 0 need to consider taking a diet pill. Just FYI, BMI is the standard calculation used by doctors to determine if people are at a healthy weight given their height. A BMI < 18 is underweight, 18-25 is normal, 25-30 overweight, and 30+ is considered obese. As you can see, your BMI falls on the lower end of normal. If you were to lose weight it could be unhealthy for your growth and development, and cause different problems for you.

From what you said you desired to do (lose 4 pounds and tone up your abs), those goals can be accomplished by doing ab workouts at home for 5-10 minutes a day before you go to sleep on the floor of your room, and taking out one piece of junk food per day and substituting it for a healthier alternative. If you're already working out, just make sure you do a brief ab workout daily (your abs can take it) and you'll see improvement in no time. Also, make sure your form for crunches/sit-ups/leg lifts is good. So many people THINK they're doing a good ab workout but it is completely useless. You have to mix things up and do different exercises for your abs or your body will get used to what you are doing and you will see very little benefit from continued training.

Also, it is considered medically unhealthy to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week. So don't try to drop 4 pounds in 4 days, it won't last.

  4. QUESTION:
What is the safest & most effective store bought weight loss pill?
I want to try a weight loss pill to help give my work out & diet an extra boost. What is the most effective & safest weight loss pill for women specifically in their 20s? Please no rude comments.. just a straight answer with details & if you used the pill & your results.

    • ANSWER:
Allow me to be completely honest, I suffered from obesity all my life, and that forced me to try every store bought weight loss product there was and I never saw any results. There's no quick fix for weight loss, but it doesn't have to be hard either. As long as you find a healthy way of losing weight. I don't know if you pay attention to the labels but most of them say you get results when combined with a healthy diet and exercise. So keep doing what your doing and find a diet that actually helps you lose weight fast.

  5. QUESTION:
Question about weight loss pills for women?
I've gained some extra weight that I would like to get off in a couple months. I regularly diet and watch what I eat but I want to give me a boost with losing weight. I've came across three products that I've heard good things about. If you have any suggestions please comment below. Which one would you choose? I'm looking for something effective but safe.

    Decatrim
    LipoFuze
    Apidexin

    • ANSWER:
Ok, thing is with weight loss is that you never wanna use products because alot of them do have bad side effects, and the weight doesn't stay off. Here are my suggestions for you:

First of all, the most important thing you must remember with weight loss is that it does take time. It takes time for that extra weight to pile on, it will take even longer for it to fall off. That's the biggest thing I hate about weight loss, honestly. But in the long run, your patience will pay off with a happier, healthier you! 3 - 6 pounds is the most you can probably lose in two weeks, but that depends on how over weight you are. If you're like me, and need to lose maybe 20 - 30 pounds, we can lose about 4 on our first week or two of really working at it (at the very most, bear in mind, it will probably be 4 the first, 2 - 3 the next) and the rest of the time it will be 1 or 2 pounds a week. So, figuring from that information, it will probably take 3 - 4 months for ME to lose my weight. And with this information, you can figure how long it will take you to reach your goal.

As for what to eat, calorie amount, etc etc...

Well, the number one thing to remember is that you should not take in less than 1200 calories, or else your body will go into starvation mode, and you'll probably wind up gaining weight instead. Your body will burn muscle instead of fat, causing a very unhealthy and unattractive look. You don't wanna go down that road. Eat around 1200 - 1600 calories a day, maybe even more, depending on your activity level, height, weight, age, sex, and target weight.

The best foods to eat would definitely be vegetables (carrots and celery are very very good), fruits (apples and berries are very good too, both speed the metabolism, as well as celery and carrots do. but try not to live off ONLY fruits. they are good, good for you and they taste sweet, but they due to tend to have a high sugar content in them), low-fat dairies (good for vitamins, calcium and protein, but most are so high in fat, so keep the intake to a minimum) whole wheat products and lean sources of protein (such as eggs, turkey, chicken, fish, nuts, lentils, chick peas, and beans). Drink 2 - 3 liters of water daily, and I'd recommend some green tea (natural, with no sugar). Try to avoid sugary, fattening foods, diet/regular soda, fruit juices, fast food, white bread products and red meats. Also, make sure you eat just about 6 meals a day instead of 3. Make them small and healthy. Foods high in fiber are good too, because they fill you up with less food.

The best thing for exercise is cardio. It burns alot of calories and fat. I'd do 45 minutes of cardio every other day, and on the days you don't do cardio, do strength training to build muscle, which also burns fat.

Here are some cardio exercises to do:

      Swimming
      Jogging
      Power Walking
      Walking/Running On A Treadmill
Bicycling, rather on a normal bike or an exercise bike
      Jump Rope
      Running In Place
      Stair walking
      Oblique Twists
      High Knees
      Butt Kicks

Dancing, rather just a dance routine or DDR, is also a good way to burn fat and calories, if you move enough. Barely swaying your hips and moving your feet a little won't do it! Blast that dance music and dance that booty off!!

There are many different forms of just about every strength exercise. Find the ones you like best and do about 15 reps 3 times in your strength routine.

Don't forget to mix up the routine after about 2 weeks. Add more reps, do new moves, exercise longer, run faster, run farther. Whatever you can do to mix it up!!

Always stay away from fad diet and diet products because they do NOT work at all!

      Hope this helps some!!!

  12. QUESTION:
    Weight Loss Help?
I am a 38 year-old woman. My job is very stationary, I sit at a desk for about 8 hours. I weigh around 140 pounds and would like to get back into shape and weigh 120 pounds. I eat okay and don't think I need to change my diet but need some advice on how to lose the extra 20 pounds I don't want. I have a small gym in my basement which includes an Elliptical workout machine. I try to do that for about 20 mins a few times a week but it isn't enough.

Does anyone know of any safe diet pill or something that would aid in my losing 20 pounds of uneeded body weight? I am up for any ideas.

    • ANSWER:

  13. QUESTION:
Would it be safe to take diet pills? (needed advice)?
I am a 21 year old woman who has been struggling with my weight for a long time now. However, I've changed my eating habits and lifestyle within the past year. Thus managed to lose about 30 pounds. But now, I'm stuck.
No matter what I do, I can't lose any weight.
As if that's not bad enough, my doctor suggested I get the lap-band surgery. He explained that my current weight (150 pounds over weight) is a higher risk now than having major surgery, and that in the next ten years I could have a heart attack or stroke.
Hearing this from my doctor is both frightening and eye-opening for me. On top of that, a friend of mine suggested I take diet pills to help me short term. I'm feeling so worried for my health, I'm not sure if I should take the pills. I'm fully aware of the risks of taking diet pills such as heart valve problems, increase heart attacks and strokes, memory loss, unpleasant digestive effects, etc.
But I keep thinking...Would losing weight and getting healthy be better than gambling possible side effects?
    What should I do?
Please, anyone with either information or personal experience let me know which is the better alternative.

    • ANSWER:
I'd suggest that you put little efforts in jogging and light exercises which are the best activities to burn fats. There's hardly any equivalent substitute. Once your body gets used to the physical activities you can then try some diet pill. Please note that its your metabolism which also determine the quantum of weight loss. I was using a diet pill along with my exercises. Try Phentramin-d which is an excellent diet pill which is far ahead of its competitors. Unlike, many other diet pills, phentramin-d stays ahead of them because of its unique formula being developed at an FDA approved laboratory. It’s simply suppresses the appetite of the user thus making it easier for the person to take control of his/her life and also enhance metabolism. Check here: http://p.gs/j9yzc

      Hope this info helps.

    • ANSWER:
I lost 80 pounds by eating a whole plant based diet, and it was easy because I could actually eat more food and lose weight. Dr. Dean Ornish describes this in detail. Vegetables have a lot of fiber which reduces appetite and has less calories than processed foods. You need to realize that to sustain weight loss, this must be a lifestyle change, not a temporary diet. Here's the new diet for a lifetime:

      - Fresh leafy green vegetables (kale, collard, & spinach)
      - Colorful vegetables
      - Whole grains (not instant or processed cereals)
      - Legumes (for protein at every meal)
      - Some fruit

You need to supplement with B12, D3, and flax seed meal for Omega-3s. That's all you need to eat.

You don't need to eat any animal product. Animal products are linked to health issues like cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and some cancers. They also tend to be caloric and also have high cholesterol levels.

      You need to avoid excess:

      - Processed food (including MSG and aspartame)
      - Refined carbohydrates (like commercial cereals and starchy foods)
      - Sugar, fructose, soda pop
      - Oils and fats
      - Dairy (even low fat has excess animal protein)
      - Animal flesh (including meat, pork, fish)

This sounds extreme, but it is extremely healthy and will automatically cause you to lose excess fat weight. If you want, you can do weight training, but it's not absolutely necessary. Read any of the writings of the scientists I cite in the next section for further details.

  15. QUESTION:
    Lower Back Pain, please help!?
I am a 33 year old woman, I have no history of back pain or any other major health issues although I am currently eight stone (112 pounds) overweight but that has been an issue for many years and is something that is currently being addressed.

Approximately six weeks ago I started to experience horrible pain in my lower back in particular on the left side, especially when I first wake up. The pain does ease as I start to move around but never completely goes although it does become more and more manageable throughout the day. I find that the pain also eases, although the area stays very stiff, whenever I do exercise which I am continuing to do for my weight loss, although now instead of doing that in the morning as I preferred I now have to do it in the afternoon when the pain has eased.

I have changed the mattress on my bed to a firmer one as I thought it may be that but that appears to have made no difference and I am now stuck in a situation where my mornings are a write off! I have taken many pain relievers but am reluctant to pursue this as I don't want to just keep taking pills.

I have made an appointment at the doctors but the earliest they could give me is three weeks away, the exercise that I take is safe and gentle so I know its not that. I am at a complete loss as I say because despite being overweight for a long time I have never suffered with any health problems, and definetly never experienced any back pain.

Any help or advice with possible causes or ways to relieve or actually fix this problem will be massively appreciated. Please help me, I have just woke up and the pain is as worse as ever today and I am really getting down about what this is doing to me and my day and my attempts at weight loss!!

    • ANSWER:
Gentle stretching may help. Try an Alexander Technique class, or look up the Technique on the internet, this will help strengthen, and stretch your back. It works really well for back pain. Try getting a T.E.N.S pain machine, this is very good for pain management without pills. I would also take a short rest from strenuous exercise for a few weeks until you see your Doctor, try walking instead for an hour a day. If do continue exercises get a back support from your chemist.
