      Uh... 1st of all, stop what you're doing. You're going to kill yourself, PLUS you're shutting your metabolism down. PLUS you're 14, and you're going to royally screw up your growth.

      2nd of all, when you come off of this suicide diet of yours, you're going to rebound and be heavier than you were to start with.

      And to answer your question, after about 1 week, your water weight will be gone and weight loss will stall (add to that the fact that you're metabolism is going to crash and you've got a big ball of dissappointment on the way)

      You don't need to diet, BUT if you're going to lose no more than 1-2 lbs a week or you're losing muscle and you're going to gain all the weight back and then some

      There are 3500 calories in 1 pound of fat. so if you can cut 500 out each day you will lose 1 pound a week. It doesn;t matter too much what kind of food you eat, you need to eat bellow maintenance

      Do not eat tonnes of apples like someone suggested. Apples are just a simple sugar and they will certianly not give you a calorie deficit by eating them. Celery is good to chew on because it's just fibre and water.

      I know how you feel. I've tried a lot of things. but this is what works for me (i lost 4 pounds in a week and i didn't starve myself):
      - drink lots of water, keeps you fuller.
      - to lower your appetite, add in a lot of incidental exercise. during that week i was walking around a lot to get to places. not only was i burning calories and making my metabolism work, i was also distracting myself from food.
      - eat light dinners, but remember to eat in small portions. e.g. you MUST eat breakfast (something healthy klike cereal) breakfast kickstarts your metablism, then about 2 hours later, say about 10am, have a light healthy meal that can be consumed in about 3 or 4 bites (like a very small portion of fried rice, then at 12am if ur hungry, eat the same amount, then 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, etc. split your dinner up during those times.

      thing is, i started doing that for about 3 days, after 3 days my weight started to drop suddenly and the weird thing was, i had begun to eat a little more, yet the weight just continued to drop.

      im still eating extremely healthy and pretty much the same amount i used ot before weight loss, yet im loosing the weight!

      I am 16 and have been obese before but have slim down successfully. I am here to share how to achieve it so read on, it may change your life. IF YOU ARE FRIGHTEN ABOUT HOW LONG THE PASSAGE IS, just read the 2nd and 5th paragraph onwards about mindset and setting a target.

      Firstly, you have to have the mindset to lose weight! Without it you would not be as successful. In the past when i am over-weight, I did not care about my body and continued living, thinking that it would be alright growing up fat but society are just as cruel... I did not change until an incident which inspires me to be healthy and look good.
      So you need to think of a target and the reasons for you to lose weight. It could be anything like wanting to look good or for health reasons. Anytime you feel like giving up, think of your target and work towards it.

      Secondly, food intake should be lesser by 1/5 but eat all your 3 meals. And only eat when you are hungry although there are times when you do not know you are hungry or not(like me, weird stomach) so stick to your meals. Of course, eat healthier food. Details of healthy food or how to make it healthy can be found in the Internet or books.

      Thirdly, find a sport or activity that will make you lose weight. Make that activity like your personal habit and do it often. I chose basketball as my friends play it and now i am good at it so make a wise decision of which sport to choose and go for it, no slacking. Surely there would be difficult as you would be in a disadvantage as you would be look down on because of your size. For example, you are playing soccer with your friends and they choose you to be the goalkeeper because of your size. That means you would be standing at the goalpost most of the time- result, no weight loss. Repel! Say that you want to be another position like a striker and make them pay! Go for the ball! Play the game like you would not play it again! Play it with your heart! That way you could take advantage of your desires- result, a lot of weight loss.

      I could not go on cause of time limit and laziness, although I still can say a lot. But the mindset thing is already enough, the most important aspect of losing weight is that! REMEMBER, every time when you are about to give up, every time when you are lazy to go out to exercise, every time when you want to eat extra, every time you step into a fast food restaurant AND every time you are tempted to do sometime that you know that would foil your attempt on losing weight, think about your target, about what you have been through for the past years, being look down because of your size. If that is not enough of a reason... Think of your FUTURE, predict. What would you be like when you grow up. Would you get the boyfriend/girlfriend that you are dreaming for? Or someone who you would marry for the sake of marrying. Or do you think you could get a partner that you like just with your character or personality alone? That only happens in fairy tales... The modern world is not that kind nowadays.

      So come on! Change yourself! Do your body a favor! Give yourself a chance to make yourself look good. Whenever you feel like losing hope, read this again and think about what you can achieve when you lost every pounds of fats and attain your dream body. That would be enough for you to make the decision to change for yourself.

    I know that really overweight people are fine losing twenty pounds a month or every few months but I was at a BMI of 24 in May and I am now at a BMI of 19.5... I'm a pretty petite girl (5 feet) .. so I've dropped more or less 20 pounds since May.

    Was that weight loss too rapid? My weight loss came in spurts too... from May to June I dropped about 8 pounds, but all of a sudden between July and September 12 pounds and now I lose about a pound every few weeks (sometimes I gain a pound).

    I've been having some major issues with concentration (studying for college) and I think my hair is starting to fall out. Do you think this is college stress (I'm a first year) or is it my rapid diet?

      I'd go see a doctor or something if your hair's falling out...oh my. You're not supposed to lose over 2 or 3 pounds at the most every week I believe, might be every 2 weeks...I'd say that it is a bit unhealthy.

      Try taking some vitamins or something to get back nutrition, and don't cut your food down to nothing to lose weight (if you were, if not just ignore this then :P ). Instead, work out 30 minutes 5 days a week, it should keep you at your target weight.

      It might be stress though, have you been getting patches of dry skin that itch and look red? If you do I'd say it's from stress--lots of people get rashes and have weird things happen when they're worried.

      Also...I've noticed a ton of people say cancer causes hair loss--it doesn't, I had a friend last year freak because she was losing hair and thought she had it. That hair loss is from kimotherapy and not the cancer itself so that totally isn't it. ^^

      Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5'11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn't feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me.

      My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests.

      They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that's why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky.

      I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes.

      Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I've lost weight after this)

      The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.

      Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.

      In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)

      Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.

      Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)

      Go exercise for at least an hour - two a day, incorporating weight training along with your cardio. Cardio helps to melt the fat, while weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat, even when you are resting. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas.

    What is the best exercise video for rapid weight loss?
    Looking for burning fat, firming, toning, low impact, hips, thighs (inner,outer), tummy, buttocks, arms etc something that has it all. Something that includes a diet in it, and/or calories of foods. I'd like a diet that I don't have to eat things I don't like. I want success without starvation, or feeling like I'm depriving my self of certain foods. I just need to lose about 30 lbs. First one who gives me honest and complete help with websites etc get's 10 points, I'd like to see how many recommend the same video, diet, and offer the best advice. I want to get peoples opinons on what works for them, and what is the best.

      Walking...I'm losing about 2 lbs. a week. Walking is good because you can do lots...I'm 410 lbs. and I kid you not I can walk 2 hours a day....last Sunday I did 3 hours....7.5 miles...that's 750 cals.

      As for eating things you don't like, that changes when you eat them regularly...you can get very happy eating things you never thought you liked...it's counter-intuative...welcome to the human brain.

      Now I love veggies...it's unreal...I even have to eat them first. It's absolutely CRAZY! (but true).
