Learn The Fast Way To Lose Weight

Quick And Safe Weight Loss

If you have lived the majority of your life ov 00004000 erweight, you?ve most likely tried countless weight loss programs, weight loss diets and a healthy dose of drugs and pills to boot. Anyone who has gone through these experiences know that the ultimate ?diet killer? is your own lack of self-control and focus.

When it comes to weight loss you may secretly be your own worst enemy. Before we get started on that, let?s look at the fact that accomplishing any goal, large or small, requires a mind that is clearly focused on the desired end.

What does that mean? It means turning self-talk into a positive advantage and using your rational mind to help fuel and motivate your efforts. After all, the choice is yours: let your mind sabotage your efforts or let it help inspire better eating habits and encourage healthy weight-loss outcomes.

If you?ve tried losing weight or a weight loss program before, and have found it to be an uphill battle in which you lose a few pounds only to gain back several more, then it?s time to break the psychological cycle that may be holding you back from your goal.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CYCLE OF WEIGHT GAIN

In a world where thin is in, it?s not unusual for people who are overweight to carry the burden of lower self-esteem. Add to that the social stigma or prejudice that overweight individuals encounter and a psychological cycle for weight gain can be set in motion or unhealthy eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia) can develop. People, overweight as well as thin, often eat in response to stress, depression, loneliness and anxiety. This stress-induced or emotional eating can lead to weight gain which in turn leads to lower self-esteem, depression, and anxiety which leads to more stress-based eating and additional weight gain. It?s easy to see how one can become trapped in a dangerous downward spiral and vicious cycle.

Compounding the problem is the fact that individuals who are overweight have less energy, and therefore find it harder to be active, so the risk of gaining weight again increases. A cycle of inactivity and further weight gain can develop: the less active person gains weight and so becomes less active, thereby gaining more weight and so on. Also, life stresses, which are normally alleviated through exercise, start building up which triggers more stress-based eating.

Individuals who try to lose weight and fail may feel depressed, frustrated and even guilty or ashamed and may rely on comfort foods as a way to feel better. The same is true of those who succeed in losing weight, only to gain it back. Anxiety, depression and guilt can produce a feeling of hopelessness that hinders efforts to lose weight.

This is why getting on the right weight loss program is CRUCIAL for successful weight loss. Whether it?s a weight loss diet that you?ve imposed on yourself or a program designed for your body, follow the next seven steps to break the psychological cycle of weight loss.

SEVEN STEPS TO BREAKING THE CYCLE

1. Stop Diet Deprivation. Diets and weight loss programs that put severe restrictions on what you can eat oftentimes arouse binge eating. While you may hold out for a while, one day you?ll decide depriving yourself is not worth it, or you can?t take it anymore, and you dig into the refrigerator, freezer or snack cabinet with a vengeance. Allow yourself small indulgences that are satisfying and will help you avoid harmful binging.

2. Plan Ahead. What if you should slip? The best way to avoid slipping is through pre-planning. So, if you?re off to a backyard barbeque or family gathering decide ahead of time what your plan is. Eat something healthy and filling before you go out and then allow yourself a few special treats at the party, but exercise portion control. If you know that Aunt Mary is making your favorite dessert, plan on having a small slice and savor it. Managing your weight and enjoying life should go hand in hand.

3. Set Realistic Weight Loss Goals. To avoid the frustration of failing, don?t overstress yourself with unrealistic weight loss goals. You gained weight slowly over time and it will take some time to gradually lose that weight. Slow, but sure is the best approach.

4. Choose Healthy Outlets for Emotions. Instead of opening the refrigerator when you?re upset, how about phoning a friend, or take a walk. Discover something that makes you feel calmer or happier ? something other than food or alcohol. Do yoga, dance around your living room, meditate or go out bowling with a friend.

5. Stop Harboring Hurts. Work through issues that are upsetting you. Talk to a therapist or even a friend. Don?t let hurts, even old wounds or patterns that reach back into your childhood, affect you and your relationship with food.

6. Remember Why You?re Dieting. It helps to stop and remember why you?re dieting in the first place. Is it to have more energy, look and feel better, alleviate health problems or increase your self esteem? Keeping the goal in mind is critical to your weight loss success.

7. Use Your Mind to Break the Cycle. The fact is you can do it. It?s all in your mind ? the power to lose the weight rests with you. Believe you can succeed and you will succeed. If you want to put an end to the psychological cycle of weight gain, start by turning all of your negative self talk into positive affirmations. That?s the best way to break the cycle.

Instead of saying: ?Look at that fat belly. It just won?t go away.? Think positive: ?Yes, my belly is fat now, but it won?t always be. I plan to be fit, not fat. I?m heading to the gym after work today.?

Keep your goal in mind at all times. Write down your positive affirmations and put up visual reminders of what you want to attain ? that dress you want to buy, that seaside resort you?re longing to visit this year, or even a picture the happy person you want to be again. It?s all within reach if you set your mind to it, keep active, exercise, and prepare healthy menus that you enjoy.

Use these seven steps to create a mental turnaround and break through the psychological barriers that are holding you back. If you do, you?ll have the power to achieve permanent weight loss ? something that will truly change your future and your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Alli for safe and quick weight loss?
I'm wondering if anyone has tried the weight loss pill Alli. Did you have success? I'm also wondering about side effects, I've heard that if you eat fatty foods you can have oily discharge out of your bottom? Due to a previous injury, I already have occasional problems with fecal incontinence, and I don't want to use something that would cause me to soil myself or have to run to the bathroom constantly. Are the side effects managable in people's experiences? I currently weigh 145 pounds and am 5'7". I'm looking to lose 10-15 pounds.

    • ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweight lossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

  2. QUESTION:
Tips for quick and safe weight loss for holiday in 10 days?
Ok, I'm not obese or anything and I'm in the 'normal' BMI range but I have a bit of a bulge of fat on my thighs and stomach :(

Since the holiday has been booked, I decided that I was going to slim down for the holiday to look good in a bikini. I planned to lose weight slowly but steadily, not making drastic changes but I've been really busy for the last few months and didn't really get round to losing weight. So, I'm here, 10 days before leaving to Turkey and I don't look good in a bikini.

I've started to diet and exercise a bit yesterday but please could you guys share with me any tips for quick (but safe) weight loss suitable for a 17 year old. Any diet or exercise hints? Thank you so much for your help, it's greatly appreciated :)
Also, I'm an ovo-vegetarian so I don't eat/drink products containing any meat or dairy :)

    • ANSWER:
Try this, you'll see and feel results in 2-3 days. The muscle will outweigh the fat so don't let the scale discourage you :)

For exercise, try switching it up (Monday work on arms, Tuesday work on stomach, Wednesday work on legs, Thursday Rest, Friday Arms, Saturday Stomach, Sunday Legs) though you can choose your own schedule/plan. Try maybe using different machines for stomach or legs or arms so your body doesn't get used to it. Also, try increasing the amount of exercise you do every week.

For eating, try portion control (70% of your diet is food intake but exercise is also important) eating the serving size and if there is no designated serving size, 1 cup if it's a meal and 1/2 a cup if it's a snack.

      Breakfast- Whenever you choose
Drink of choice- hour after breakfast (all other drinks being water; one cup of drink of choice)
Lunch- 1hr after Drink of choice
Snack- 1/2 cup, 1 hour after lunch
      Dinner- 2 hours after snack

It doesn't matter WHAT you eat unless you're on a specific diet such as Atkins, it's mostly just How MUCH we take in and how OFTEN we take it in. I have problems with over-eating and I'll eat an ice cream, oh I want another and it's not b/c I'm hungry it's b/c I have a craving for it and it feels like I can't wait. Also, eating out of boredom, try drinking water often to prevent hunger. I also have this problem and especially when I'm exercising. (Try buying a treadmill or a few exercising supplies or maybe you can get a gym subscription) and bring with you in an insulated glass/mug full of ice b/c I always and alot of other people always want a little something to feel like their eating or munching on and this is perfect b/c it's hydrating and you get the little munch out of it.
Also, how I said about buying some equipment or gym subscription, I'd recommend you buy your own that way you pay a little extra and the rest is free not 1/2 the price every month or whatever. Try buying about the things (one for legs, one for stomach, one for legs and maybe as you get more into, you could add more). Also, if you lift weights try increasing the amount of weight each weeks or two. :)
      Hope this helps! Good luck!
Also, calculate your intake so you know how much to work towards burning plus extra for the muscle :)

    • ANSWER:
Want to slim down fast for that beach vacation or high school reunion? While there are many things you can do to shed pounds, losing weight too quickly, like any sudden change to your body, can be dangerous. While fad diets, diet pills, and fasting may indeed induce rapid weight loss, these methods can cause you to lose muscle and may also injure your heart and other organs fairly quickly. The best solution? Don't go for an overnight miracle. Instead, follow these steps to lose fat rapidly, healthily, and sustainably.

      Steps
Determine your daily calorie intake. Losing weight is simply a matter of expending more calories, through exercise and your daily activities, than you take in. Exercise alone won't make you lose weight if you're still taking in more calories than you burn. What's more, a healthy diet is important for overall health, so it's a good idea to take a good look at what you eat.

Write down all the things you eat on a typical day. Carry a small notebook with you and jot down every snack, every drink, and the contents of every meal. Don't forget to include the pats of butter or the spoonful of sugar in your coffee. It's best to do this for at least a couple days.
Do an itemized calorie count. When possible, write down the number of calories in each thing you eat as you eat it. Keep in mind that the serving size on the container is often considerably smaller than the serving you actually eat. Look up the calorie count on the internet for foods that don't have calories listed on the container or for fast food meals. You don't have to be 100% accurate, but you do want a good estimate of the number of calories you're taking in.
Go over the list and decide which foods to cut out or reduce. Cutting calories is usually a lot easier than you might think. For example, that daily tall latte in the morning may pack 500 calories. Since a pound of flab (lost or gained) is roughly equivalent to 3,500 calories, replacing that rich beverage with black coffee can help you lose a pound a week. Other easy cuts include salad dressing--salad dressing is the number one source of fat in the average American woman's diet--soda pop, candy, and butter. Look at the nutritional information for the foods you eat, pay special attention to your intake of saturated fats and empty calories (high-sugar foods). You don't need to cut these things out entirely, but if you reduce your intake of high-fat, high-calorie foods you'll lose weight fast. Click here to learn exactly how much food you can eat to safely lose body fat
Seek out alternatives to the unhealthy foods you've identified. You can simply reduce the amount of soda you drink or mayonnaise you put on your sandwiches, or you can substitute healthier choices. Drink water instead of soda, for example, or use mustard instead of mayo. Low-fat and low-calorie options are also available for most foods, and many of these are natural (some are made with strange chemicals) and tasty.

Choose lean meats. Chicken and fish are both very low in fat (and certain fish like salmon, sardines, and fresh tuna are an excellent source of antioxidants which is also beneficial to your health), so aim to replace some or all of the beef or pork in your diet with these foods.
Replace high-calorie side dishes with healthier alternatives. Many people get a ton of calories from side dishes such as macaroni and cheese, french fries, or potato salad. You can eat healthier and lose weight by replacing these with vegetables and salads. Pre-made salads are practically effortless, and when accompanied by a reduced-calorie dressing or no dressing at all, they're weight-loss gold.
Start your days off right. A fattening breakfast of bacon and eggs or a pastry can be replaced with yogurt, oatmeal, high-fiber, low-sugar cereals; or fresh fruit or fruit smoothies.
Plan your meals. Look for healthy, delicious meals online or in your cookbooks, and create a menu for the week. Make sure that your meal plan reduces your total calorie intake: you're not going to lose weight if you consume the same amount of calories by eating different foods. Make a list of what you'll need for these meals, and--except for a few snacks, of course--don't stray from your list when you get to the market. Planning your meals helps ensure you get a balanced diet and reduces the temptation to stop off for fast food or order a pizza. Remember, it's easier to stick to your shopping list if you shop when you aren't hungry.
Watch your portion sizes. Opening a bag of rice cakes and eating all of them in one sitting isn't going to help you lose weight. When eating chips, nuts, or dried fruit put a portion in a small bowl and then put the bag away. That way you won't mindlessly eat a larger portion than you intended.
Graze on healthy snacks. Just because you're getting healthy doesn't mean you can't snack. In fact, eating small meals and snacks throughout the day (grazing) has been shown to aid weight loss (compared to eating three large meals) by keeping metabolism steadier. Pick snacks that are low in calories and fat and high in fiber (dried apricots, nuts, rice cakes, fruits, baby carrots, baby tomatoes, and so on). Vegetables are generally very low in calories, very high in fiber, and full of flavor and nutrition. Avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes, and try to eat vegetables plain, without fatty dressings or dips. Fruit also makes a good snack. Fruit contains more soluble fiber than vegetables, which slows your body's absorption of carbohydrates, thus releasing energy slower (preventing sugar highs) and keeping you full longer. Fruit juices are okay, but are not a replacement for the real thing. You need that fiber, and juices often have more calories than the equivalent serving of fruit--as many calories as soda! Be careful with dried fruits, because without the water, you tend to eat more, and fruits--when dried--are calorie-rich per ounce.
Get more fiber. There are many myths about fiber, but there is science to back up its helpful role in the diet. Fiber keeps the right amount of water in your intestines, making your digestive system work more efficiently and helping to keep you regular. Thus, just eating enough fiber may help you feel slimmer in just a day or so. There is also evidence that fiber in the diet can help prevent stroke and heart disease, ease the effects of diabetes, and may even directly help in weight loss.
Drink plenty of water. Adequate water is essential for health, and a great many people simply don't get enough. What's more, if you're chronically dehydrated, your body will retain water in unflattering places, so if you make sure to get plenty of fluids you can start visibly trimming down in as little as a day. Remember, the more you exercise, the more water you'll need. See the related wikiHow for more details on how much water you should be getting.
Exercise. Remember, you can lose weight either by decreasing your calorie intake or increasing the number of calories you burn. Any health strategy should include both, but if you want to lose weight fast, exercise is essential. Click here to see how much weight you can lose doing various activities
Perform high-level aerobic activities. Moderate aerobic workouts incorporating jogging, brisk walking, cycling, or aerobic machines or classes not only burn calories--they also keep your heart healthy. Swimming is also great, especially if you are quite overweight or have joint problems, because you can get the same benefits of running--typically burning even more calories--without health problems. Try to get at least 30-40 minutes of aerobic exercise at least three or four days per week.
Pump some iron. Resistance training (weight training) can help both sexes stay lean by building muscle and raising metabolism. The fact is, hours and hours of aerobic exercise won't help most people lose weight fast because your metabolism drops back to normal fairly quickly after stopping the exercise. If you gain muscle, however, your body's resting metabolism (the amount of calories you burn when you're just sitting still) increases, because muscle requires a lot of calories to maintain. Studies have shown consistent weight training to raise the body's metabolism by 15%. This means an average woman might burn 200-300 more calories at rest every day! Resistance training, then, is the gift that keeps on giving.
Rest properly. This means not only taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles (and taking 1-2 days off from exercising each week); it also means getting enough sleep at night, since sleep deficiency impairs your ability to lose fat.
Be realistic. Don't expect a miracle. Healthy weight loss can be achieved fairly quickly, but you'll need to be patient. In addition, be sure to set realistic goals. Make sure that the weight you're trying to reach is a healthy weight for you, and understand that gaining pounds of muscle will help you lose fat and be trimmer without actually losing weight.
Make adjustments. A successful weight loss strategy based on reducing calorie intake and increasing activity can be adjusted to maintain your desired weight once you reach it. Unlike dieting, this method is sustainable--it is a lifestyle change, not a binge-and-purge exercise. Slowly adjust your diet and exercise to include more weight training and calories, to where it's comfortable. If you do gain any weight back, you want that weight to be lean, toned muscle, not fat. In addition, weight training, no matter what your age, prevents muscle atrophy and can help stave off osteoporosis.

      Tips
It's good to do a blood test before you begin your new diet and exercise regimen. Some people may not need to lose a lot of weight, but they may need to lower the blood sugar level slightly. You can also check for mineral deficiencies.
The goal is to lose fat, not just weight in general. If you are doing strength training during your weight loss (which you should be), you might actually see an initial gain in weight -- don't worry! You have probably lost fat and gained muscle, which is denser than fat.
A better measurement than what a scale reads is body fat percent. If you don't have access to calipers or a body fat scale, a better gauge is how your clothes fit and how you look rather than your absolute weight. If you can, though, it is good to measure your body fat about once per month. Men should be between 15%-25%, but no lower than 4%; and women 20%-30%, but no lower than 15%. Females have higher fat percentage due to pregnancy and menstrual requirements.
Generally, you want to - with a combination of calorie reduction and increased activity - reduce and burn a certain number of calories a day, causing a net loss of calories so your body is forced to use its own stores of fat. How much aerobic exercise you need to perform depends on what you eat, how fast you'd like to lose weight, and how much muscle you gain. A pound of fat contains 3500 calories. Men can safely lose around two pounds a week, and women can safely lose around one pound a week. Any more than this and you might be losing more muscle mass than fat. Thus, with a combination of calorie restriction and aerobic exercise, a man should aim to run a 3500-7000 calorie deficit each week, and women should aim for a 1750-3500 calorie deficit.
With regard to weights, men and women differ on their goals with weight training. Women, don't worry, no amount of weight training will make you as bulky as a man; women just don't have enough testosterone to build large muscles. The female bodybuilders you see are either taking steroids or training 2-3 hours every day. Male and female beginners should start with 3 sets of 8-12 repetitions, and should use the heaviest weight you can while still maintaining good form, even to the last repetition of the last set. Get a weight training book or find a reputable website that will show you different exercises and the correct form. When lifting properly, you will stretch the muscle during the exercise, but you should still stretch properly to prevent injury!
Don't try to spot-improve, because your body loses fat from all over, no matter what the exercise. No amount of crunches will get rid of that gut if they are not backed up by proper aerobic exercise and diet! Washboard abs do not come from millions of sit ups; they come from having low levels of body fat, so if that is your goal, make sure you do plenty of aerobic exercise in addition to your ab routine.
Sugar comes in many disguises. Check your food labels: fructose, glucose, molasses, and corn syrup are all sugars. Limit all sugars, but especially stay away from high-fructose corn syrup. It is just a corn syrup full of sugar. Choosing foods without it will help you reach your weight loss goals faster.
Remember your body needs 'fuel' just like a car needs 'fuel'. Your body needs the 'right' kinds of food to lose weight effectively.
Despite popular belief it is not terrible to eat after 6 p.m. A reasonable dinner (with extra protein if you've had a good weight training session) is going to help deliver nutrients to the body to prepare it for the next day. Additionally if you find yourself very hungry before bed, a small bowl of high fiber cereal and low fat milk will actually help maintain your metabolism while you sleep. The key is to not overeat in the evenings.
Take a multivitamin. While it is better to always get your nutrients from your food, most people miss something in their diet, especially when they're trying to cut calories. There are many vitamins and minerals that play important roles in keeping the body chemistry balanced energy levels healthy.
If you find yourself missing some of your favorite foods, don't worry. There is no harm in having your treat once a week. Pick a day each week where you treat yourself to your guilty pleasure--remember, everything in moderation. If it's pizza, try going to a gourmet pizza place that will use better ingredients and fresher vegetables. If it's a Big Mac, try making your own. A homemade burger is generally much healthier than the food they serve in fast food restaurants. Electric grills that are slanted to allow most of the fat to slide off make nice, lean burgers.
Save some calories for potassium and protein for after you work out, this will help reduce soreness. (A banana and an egg does the trick.)
Do not forget to stretch. Stretching can help increase your strength and flexibility.

      Warnings
Don't try to starve yourself. In the short run, reducing your calorie intake to unhealthily low levels will slow metabolism and actually cause you to lose weight more slowly. In the long run, starving yourself (anorexia or bulimia) can kill you.
When creating a weight lifting routine, do not focus on a single muscle or group, doing so will overbuild that muscle while under building others - in other words, if you work your biceps, and not your triceps, your arms will begin to naturally curl inward and you will look silly. If you work your chest and not your back, you will have a hard time maintaining good posture as your pectoral muscles overpower your back muscles and pull your shoulders naturally forward.
If you have a serious medical condition (such as asthma or diabetes, or allergy to protein such as dairy products or you have lactose intolerance) or you are severely obese, consult with your doctor as well as a dietitian.
Do not take any harmful drugs. They are unhealthy and may ultimately make you gain weight instead.
Carefully consider whether you need dietary supplements. Most people can get the mineral and nutrients they need through eating food, For example, the multivitamin supplements can make you overdose in other vitamins you need, and you can't store most water-soluble vitamins like vitamin C as excess will be urinated. But just because you are under the recommended value don't always mean you are deficient in it. So only use supplements when the doctor and dietitian says you need to.
Despite the title of this article, getting into shape is best done slowly, and if you find yourself losing more than a pound or 2 (or more than 500g) each week, you are probably doing something wrong. Losing weight too quickly is dangerous and can have adverse effects on your health.

      GOOD LUCK!

    • ANSWER:
Here are 10 no-nonsense tips for fast, healthy weight loss :
      1) Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day - this helps flush your body of impurities and fat. You can also substitute a few glasses of water for green or herbal tea.
      2) Break up your meals into 5 or 6 smaller ones - this will help speed up your metabolism and keep you from getting too hungry in between meals.
      3) Increase your fruit and vegetable intake - these are packed with vitamins.
      4) Decrease your fat intake - try for no more than 20 grams per day.
      5) Exercise for 30 minutes each day - take a walk, or play a game with your kids. Just get moving.
      6) Find a hobby - take up knitting or painting to keep your hands busy.
      7) Don’t eat that late night snack - Try not to eat for at least 2 hours before going to bed.
Listen to your body - your body will tell you when it is full, hungry, stressed, tired. Learn the signs and obey what your body is telling you.
      9) Increase your fiber - choose whole grain pasta and bread.
      10) Cleanse and detoxify - this may be the most important. Rid your body of harmful toxins and chemicals, while allowing it to function normally.
Cleansing is an important part of long-term weight loss success. Our bodies are laden with insecticides, pesticides, lead, and dozens of other harmful substances. These chemicals clog our internal organs and our bodies respond by coating these chemicals with layers of fat.
One way to cleanse your body of harmful impurities is by using Acai Berry. This fruit is a nutritional powerhouse and will get your body functioning normally again, so it can fight illness and disease. It will also allow your body to burn calories and fat faster and more efficiently. You will see a faster rate of weight loss, and you will be able to keep it off.
Acai berry has many health benefits as well, including increased circulation, increased metabolism, and increased mental clarity and focus.

  10. QUESTION:
how do I tactfully tell my husband there is no such thing as a safe diet pill or quick weight loss diet?
I think he interested in losing weight again. Someone told him about LeanSpa and it's "free trial offer". After some research, I showed him that the so called news site touting the drug was a ruse, that there hasn't been enough research on acai to determine if it's safe, and the "free trial" isn't free and can cost over .00. I can't come across as though I'm right, you're wrong, or he'll just give up the diet idea. I do try to cook healthy meals (he's only home for supper, though), but I can't stop him from digging in that jar of peanut butter (he does eat it with an apple or banana, no cookies) nor make him exercise (says he's gets enough at work, but that were true, he wouldn't be so out of shape.). I just don't want to scare him off, I want to encourage him.
A diet pill is not going to convince him to exercise.

    • ANSWER:
Well the best thing you could do is start by telling him that you've done research on these quick diets and pills and that they aren't proven to be safe(which they really aren't). Then tell him that as much as you want to help him through the weight loss, you don't want any harm to come to him from using such products. This should show him that you are more concerned about him rather than been right(Men generally don't like been told their approach to something is wrong, even if it is)

Also get some good info on natural weight loss, showing that it does work and is far safer in the long term than any quick diet or pill.
This will then provide him with another option to weight loss, instead of him just giving up.

      Hope this helps.

  11. QUESTION:
Is the weight loss pill Slim Quick safe?
My husband and I both tried to lose weight recently, it was kind of a contest that we accidentally started (long story) and (I swear) just like the commercial for slim quick he lost about fifteen pounds in about six weeks and I lost nine pounds in six weeks, but most of it was in my breasts (lol).

Anyway, I have read online that slim quick isn't "worth" the money you spend on it, but I already have it, my doctor gave me a prescription for it, and while I have found a bunch of stuff online about people saying it doesn't work as well as claimed, is it safe to use? I'm not that overweight, I am 25, 5'7" and weigh 160. It's basically all the baby weight that I didn't lose combined with the added weight since I've been in a wheelchair (accident a few months back when my husband and I were hit by a city bus in NY).

I have looked online for information about if it's dangerous or not, but have only found numerous reviews. I'm not asking for people to tell me I don't need it or if it doesn't work why am I trying it, etc. I just want to know if anyone has heard anything about it being unsafe.

    THANK YOU.

    • ANSWER:
Anti-obesity drugs or weight loss drugs refer to all pharmacological agents that reduce or control weight. These drugs alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, weight regulation, by either altering appetite or metabolism.

The main treatment modalities for overweight and obesity are dieting and physical exercise. Because of potential side effects, it is recommended that anti-obesity drugs only be prescribed for obesity where it is hoped that the benefits of the treatment outweigh its risks.
      Side effects
Some anti-obesity drugs have severe and often life-threatening side effects. (See, for example, Fen-phen.) These side effects are often associated with their mechanism of action. In general, stimulants carry a risk of high blood pressure, faster heart rate, palpitations, closed-angle glaucoma, drug addiction, restlessness, agitation, and insomnia.
Another drug, Orlistat, blocks absorption of dietary fats, and as a result may cause oily spotting bowel movements (steatorrhea), oily stools, stomach pain, and flatulence. A similar medication, designed for patients with Type 2 diabetes, is Acarbose which partially blocks absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine, and produces similar side effects including stomach pain, and flatulence

what is the best diet for losing weight. I have tried Weight W, Quick W. Loss, Jenny C, Physician Weight Loss?
I have been over weight all my life. I am 59. Last year I joined Quick Weight Loss and lost 40lbs. I got bored eating a pound of meat per day. I got to maintenance but was reintroduced to food that were taken away from me. Of course, I overate again. I slowly put on a pound weekly. Then I was to go back on the Original plan which I did but I was so bored with eating what was on the plan and I felt that it was too much meat required to eat. I asked for the no-meat plan. I started gaining because of the car bs. I then went to Jenny to get entrees that were without meat and had those on the plan. Currently, I have put 15 of those lbs. back on and I feel miserable. I just want to know what is a good safe diet that I can follow for the rest of my life that is not so expensive. I have invested so much money in diets especially at QuickWeight L.

Very Quick Weight Loss - Medical?
How can I lose weight very quickly. I am scheduled in for major surgery in 1-2 months and am very overweight. I know in the states they opt for massive weight loss for surgical patients. I am having my kidney removed and my surgeon said the weight is not a problem for him as he goes in through my back but it might be for the anaesthetist. I am quite keen to avoid dying as I have 3 young children.

Is it safer for me to lose loads of weight quickly before surgery and if so does anyone know of a very quick method.
    Many Thanks

    • ANSWER:
      eat but eat slowly,
      so you get full,
if you eat fast then you will be hungry quicker,
      also exercise,
go to your local doctors surgery and ask for advice,
as they will give you advice,
but watch your calories, and get a fitness dvd,
      but don't over do it.

  23. QUESTION:
What's a good weight loss system or pill thats fast but safe?
I have to loss at least 10 pounds or more in a month! Does anyone know any quick and safe methods that don't require excersing????

    • ANSWER:
You cannot lose weight without eating healthfully and exercising. There is no magic pill to take, or else nobody would be overweight. Also, if you lose weight quickly, your metabolism will slow down and you will gain the weight back and possibly more. A good goal is 1-2 pounds per week.

Eat lots of fruits and veggies - the high fiber and water content will help you feel full longer. Eat whole grains. Do not drink pop/juice/kool-aid or any other high sugar drinks. Snack on fruit instead of cookies or other unhealthy foods. No fast food.

You will have to exercise. Start with 10 or 15 minutes a day and work your way up. You could do 10 minutes in the morning, afternoon, and at night, so that you don't have to do a big chunk all at once. Ideally, you should get an hour of exercise a day. Find something you enjoy. Skating, walking in the park, jump roping, aerobic tapes, etc. You can even walk up and down the stairs.

Humans are made to exercise. That is why there is such an epidemic of overweight/obesity today. We used to have to hunt/gather our own food, walk to the river for water, build shelters, etc. Our bodies haven't changed much since then, since it takes millions of years to evolve.

Hope I helped, even though probably not the answer you were looking for...

to lose weight u need to eat right and have a workout plan 5-6 days a week.u have to want it.
***try this u need to change ur diet.
eat six times a day. ea of ur 3 main meals needs to combine a lean protein such as chicken breast ground turkey turkey bacon egg whts also combine that with a complex carb such as a baked potato or sweet potato wild rice brown rice oatmeal or girts. also add fresh fruit and vegies to lunch and dinner. pick fruits low in sugar like pears and berries. if u get canned vegies get ones with low sodium. eat every 3-4 hrs keep ur metablism moving.
***also the most important part is WATER drink at least 64oz. no soda or juice. water will curve ur cravings.
u need to hit cardio 3-4 times a week running outside it great workout if u can hit a gym and cardio machine is great at least 30mins***
also add weight/strength training 3 times a week.u can google free weight traning guides anywhere. its not hard to find things for free. also for those wanting sexy hot abs. a nice toned stomach comes from a body with low body fat. so if ur overweight and u do a million crunches or any ab workout you r wasting your time!!! cant see the muscles under fat. low body fat equals=a nice flat toned stomach.

  26. QUESTION:
What is the best way to lose weight fast but safe?
My husband is going to be pout of state for two months for work and I would love to drop a good amount of weight while he is gone. Does any one have a method or something they do that makes weight loss quicker that I could try? Thanks in advance.

    • ANSWER:
The key word here needs to be 'safe'. There are ways to lose weight quickly but you want it to be safe and you want it to stay off. Honestly, the best way to do that is to lose it slower but since I perfectly understand what you are looking for and why you want to do it, my suggestion is to eat 5 times a day (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner). Keep your calorie and fat intake low (cals at 1200 a day and fat no more than 30 a day). Lots of water, as much as you can stand, and excercise you butt off...literally! I suggest walking or hitting the treadmill so you dont over do it at first. You will feel better after only a few days and that in itself will help to motivate you to keeping to it.
      Good luck.

need a really quick weight loss plan?
I have to go to a wedding in about 3 weeks and I need to lose drastic weight, FAST. I need to lose the bulge on my belly, thighs and possibly reduce my breasts as well. Eliminate all junk food, fast food, fried food, candy, soda, chips, etc.

When you eat - eat whole foods in portions that will fit in your hand and exercise at least 1 hour a day, 5 days a week. Jump rope, walk fast, jog, put on some music and dance for 1 hour non-stop.

If you want to lose weight you have to change, stop doing what you did to gain the weight. Doing this you should lose 20 pounds in about 2 months or by October.

actually it is safe considering you have six months to lose thirty pound which would be an average of 5 pounds per month.... my best suggestion is drink about a gallon of water a day and dont eat anything after 6:pm water keeps you system clean so if you have a clean working system your body will get healthier and will pass on the bad fats and other toxins you have stored in your body and not eating after 6pm helps because at night your body stores fats instead of burning it like it does during the day.. congrats on your marrige best of wishes

Is it safe to use slim fast when breastfeeding? Or other weight loss food?
I just had my second child and am wanting to lose weight. I don't have alot of free time to exercise. Also I am breastfeeding and don't want anything that will hurt my baby. Are there any quick exercises I can do at home that will get results?

    • ANSWER:
Breast feeding alone helps you lose weight. You don't really want to try slim fast right now or any heavy exerscice program, your bodies needs alot of calories to produce breast milk. I would suggest getting a pilates video, they have ones that have 10 minutes of excercising then you can stop and continue later. Very nice for a busy mom. After you wean do the slim fast thing add some high engery cardio, and some sort of resistence training, all of this you can do at home.

Good luck, congrats on the baby, and cheers

I'm trying to find a SAFE supplement to assist in my diet & exercise.. not a diet pill like hydroxycut or quick trim.. more like something to help in boosting my metabolism, giving me more energy etc. Preferablly natural ingredients. I also have a lot of weight to lose, and I'm young. Please help!!!

    • ANSWER:
I have a long detailed explanation of why not to buy any diet supplement but I decided giving you the information on the right way to lose weight would be better.
A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, gain weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk and have a more positive lifestyle!
You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber!
Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues.
First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar.
Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them.
Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup.
Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best.
Lots of beans, peas, and grains are high fiber. Whole grain breads. Fiber kicks up the metabolism so you actually burn more calories. These foods will give you more gas in the beginning but if eaten daily, the bacteria in the digestive tract will elevate lowering the gas output.
This will get you on the path for a healthy daily bowel movement. This helps clean the system and aids healthy digestion.
I know it goes against everything you've heard but eating lots of the right foods will actually help you lose weight!
Next, take a basic daily multivitamin. Don't look at your multivitamin as nutrition but more as an insurance policy. Think of it as filling in the gaps in your daily diet as opposed to a primary source of nutrients. If you are a woman, you may want a plus iron formula.
Last, you HAVE to drink lots of water to be healthy. But you can disguise it. Fill your glass all the way full with ice before pouring low sugar beverages. Try iced green tea with a splash of orange juice in it for sweet. More antioxidants. Add lemon juice to water for flavor. Slice up a cucumber and float it in pitcher of water. Gives it salty fresh taste. But you must drink up to 100 oz of water daily to help your body get rid of waste and the toxins it contains.
You must combine a healthy diet with exercise to multiply the benefit. Whether an hour a day in the weight room or just a 30 minute brisk walk every day, the added benefit of a regular exercise program really do increase and accelerate healthy weight loss.
You will get motivated when the changes start happening, I promise.
      Good luck.

  36. QUESTION:
Why do I want to do something crazy with my image? And a quick way to loose weight?
I'm writing a manga and if I ever get noticed I want to look a certain way. My looks right now are short curly brown hair with blonde highlights, dark brown eyes,I'm 5'5 and I'm a little chubby. Yeah I want to change that but what I want to do with myself is a little strange even for me. But before I get to the strange part, ill explain the normal stuff. I want to get my teeth fixed and whitened, switch from glasses to contacts, and I want to loose weight because I was sick a lot as a kid and they gave me steroids so now I'm shaped weird, and here's the weird part. I want to dye my hair pink. Like Megurine Luka's pink and I want a really long length too. Why do I want to do this? And why am so comfortable with the idea of having pink hair? Oh by the way I think part of it is because I adore the color pink. Wear it, eat pink food, use pink soap and perfume, sleep in a pink room... Lol. Oh and #2 is there any safe weight loss pill for thirteen year olds? I'm saying like you know, an organic tomato paste supplement that can make you drio 20lbs each month or something that you could get at the vitamin shop or something that actually works? Please and thank you

  37. QUESTION:
    Why it just isnt right?
why can certain women eat whatever they want and not gain no weight but then theirs women like me who eat 1 slice of pizza and put on 10lbs it's just not right i know it has something to do with metabolism but still why coulndt i have been the gurl who can eat a whole cake if i wanted and not get any better....also guys if you have and easy quick safe weight loss answers of advice please let me know

    • ANSWER:
The metabolism can be the cause in rare cases, such as if you have hypothyroidism, but if you have that then you are ill and will require medical care.

People who can eat "anything" without gaining weight does so because they burn more calories a day than others. My two adults sons are clear example of this, they eat the same things but one is fat and one is skinny. The skinny son is more physically active, that's the only difference. He is restless and he gets up to do things while they watch TV, he wriggles in the chair when they play games, he walks rather than taking the bus... it all adds up.

There are a million diets out there but the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to burn more calories than you eat. It's not particularly easy, it's not quick but it is what works best. There are online calculators that can help you figure out how much calories you burn during a day and there are calculators that will calculate the calories you eat too. Buy a good kitchen-scale, weight and measure all things that you eat, write down how active you are and learn where you have to make changes.

This is one of many sites where you can do the calculations: http://www.prevention.com/cda/healthtracker.do?cm_sp=HealthTracker-_-TopNav-_-healthtracker.do

  38. QUESTION:
Good weight loss plan for me?
I need a good weight loss plan for myself. I am going on a cruise in about 2 months and I wanna look at least halfway decent, haha. I am a 17-year old girl, I am about 5'2" tall and I weigh around 125 pounds. The main area I want to lose weight in is my stomach area. I have some pudge around my stomach, so what is a good, safe, efficient way for me to lose weight quick? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! :)

    • ANSWER:
Hi, you need 3 things for effective weight loss and these are :
      1. Well balanced diet.
      2. Any physical activity that gets your heart pumping faster than normal.
      3. Correct mental attitude.
With these 3 together you basically guarantee yourself the results you seek.

The most important factor is diet, or a better word would be nutrition. In fact, to lose weight is 70% diet and 30% exercise. Its quite simple actually - burn more calories than you consume.Just burn that mantra into your brain. Write it down and stick it wherever you can see it.
You don't have to be strict or rigid and deny yourself the foods you love, just eat less of the 'bad' foods and more of the nutritious stuff. Moderation is the key, as it is for most things in life.

Regarding exercise, the best system is interval training. this is short but intense bursts of activity. An example is walking, then running, then walking again, with no rest in between. This the best because it works by continuing to burn fat and build muscle even when you are at rest, more than any other system. Another reason is that it won't allow the weight to return, which is the most important element of any successful weight loss system.

For your thighs use squats, lunges, reverse lunges. For your belly DO NOT use crunches or sit ups. Let me repeat that, no crunches or sit ups. All they are good for is a bad back! Use exercises like the plank and side plank, as well as the superman press up. Take the usual press up position and run your hands forward as far as you can, like Superman flying. Pull your abs in tight( like your belly button meeting your spine) and do a press up. Concentrate on your abs. You won't be able to do many of them and you will feel a burn in your abs like no crunch or sit up can give you!

Another great abs exercise is to stand relaxed, hands at your side. Breath in through your nose and at the same time pull your abs in tight (as with the superman press up, should feel like your belly button meeting your spine). Hold for as long as you can, breath out. Repeat and work towards 8 time in all.Try and do it 2 to 3 times a day. Do this everyday and not only will you have super abs, your back will be strengthened as well and you will feel very relaxed and calm.Trust me, this is a brilliant and not very well known exercise for your abs, back and overall wellness. Also you can do it anywhere and anytime.

Remember, whatever exercises you choose, and whatever you decide to do, don't expect miracles, just be consistent and disciplined and apply the 3 elements mentioned above and you WILL succeed and see the desired results.

  39. QUESTION:
is it safe to mix these two things?
just started taking Redu-Quick weight loss pills.. my shoulder really hurts right now and we don't have any ice packs.. would it be safe to mix the weight loss pills with Equate aspirin?
only took 1 pill today, 2 and a half hours ago

    • ANSWER:
You should be fine but ibuprofen would probably help you more with the pain. It also lasts 6 hours verses the normal 4 hours of Tylenol and aspirin. You can make an ice pack yourself as well with a wash cloth and ice from your freezer. No Ice??? Just wet a wash cloth and put in your freezer for 20-30 minutes and this will act as an ice pack. If you need it for long periods of time it might be a good idea to go ahead and put 2 in the freezer and while you use the first the other can still be freezing for you just keep replacing. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

  40. QUESTION:
Safe, but quick fat loss...Does this exist?
I know that nothing will ever take the place of proper diet and regular exercise, however, I'm losing patients with myself! A few years back (I'm 38 now) I seemed to be able to see results faster, but now it just seems like my body fat will not budge. Which is better...treadmill or elliptical? Should I weight train only on certain days and then do cardio on others? Should these be combined in the same day? Diet wise....must I completely change to a drab no sugar, low carb, low fat protein diet or can I eat what I want, but just less of it? How do you ever know what the best plan is? Every magazine tells you something different! Also, this is just for more info...I have steel rods in my spine with a rather large fusion. I only have 2 joints left in my back, so I must be careful with that area.

I asked to many questions and given TMI haven't I? LOL! If anyone is willing to help me with advice I would appreciate it greatly. My self-esteem is suffering big time. I know that the old we get, body changes are going to happen, but how can I improve on what I got left and maybe slow down the clock?

I'm Fat, I'm young, I'm in an Electric Wheelchair, and I need to lose weight. What are my options?
The best thing I can think of is to have one Salad a day with a few glasses of water throughout the day.. Do that for a couple months and I should be a couple dozen pounds less. What if I want to do it quicker? Is there a safe means to Weight Loss pills or something?

  44. QUESTION:
what would you say is the best and safest kind of diet pill or weight loss pill?
something that isn't going to take a whole year to see good results.. just wanna lose at least 30 lbs after having two kids and it is hard for me to lose weight by just eating right, not time for the gym.. so whats the best out there? is slim quick any good and ok for you?

    • ANSWER:
hydroxycut. definitely. slim quick is bunk and expensive. My gf was paying 50$ every week to stay on slimquick and she got NO results after a month (and she watched everything she ate and exercised 2 hours a day). but she started taking hydroxycut and she lost 3lbs in a week. dont trip about takin weight loss pills - i know theres people against it, but you know what? some people were just not as gifted with a metabolism like theirs. Some people don't have to watch what they eat or even exercise, and if they do for 2 days, they get a six pack. well - we're not that lucky so we deserve to get a little help. dont listen any douches on here that say dont take em. Theyre seriously not that dangerous at all. just take hydroxycut - i know its safe cuz i take it too and im totally fine. :)

  45. QUESTION:
Do Acai Berries actually work for weight loss? And if so, are they Safe?
I want those who have tried Acai Berries to answer; do they work, and are they healthy & safe?

I want to sign up for the free trial, however, i'm wondering if this is just another scam that doesn't work, or if it's even safe.
I would like to lose a few pounds before September. I'm exercising almost everyday, and am on a strict diet thats called "South Beach Diet." I came across the Acai Berry website, and saw the free trial. Decided to come here instead real quick to see if those who tried it says it works or not.
    Thanks! :)

    • ANSWER:
      NO!

Acai berries are a good source of nutrients if bought FRESH. Not pills, not juiced. Fresh.. from the store/farm.

Eating a healthy diet will help you lose weight. Eating fruit is healthy. You get the connection?

People are just trying to scam you. DO NOT sign up for the free trial.

  46. QUESTION:
    best acai berry free trial?
i have been hearing about acai berry recently and they seems to be like a quick and safe weight loss solution.however, there is so many free trial acai berry products that i do not know what is the best product.
does anyone have any idea on which is the best acai berry product which offer free trial for it?

    thank you!

    • ANSWER:
Good acai free trial do not exist. Acai is not a weight loss product. I am listing something that might help you with weight loss below.

Due to my own misfortune, I am on a mission to warn people about acai SCAMS online. One scam is Acai Berry Supreme. They promised me a free bottle and I would only have to pay shipping. I noticed an additional .95 added to my credit card from that company and had to complain to the company to get a refund. Then they started shipping me more bottles and trying to charge me for them.

Another scam is Acai Berry Power 500, which also offered a free trial bottle. They then started mailing me additional bottles of acai without my permission. Again, I had to complain to the company to get credit card charges removed.

Also beware of people trying to sell you acai products on YA. Be cautious about people warning you of scams and then directing you to their website to buy their acai products.

If you are still interested in acai, your best bet is to go to almost any health food or vitamin store and buy acai directly. I have NO financial ties to Sambazon, but they are the most well-known and reputable companies selling acai. Best of luck.

I CANNOT offer you any guarantees, but what helped me lose about 20 pounds in 3 months is an old, very inexpensive natural remedy that might sound strange to you. Put 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and 1 tablespoon of honey in 8 ounces of warm water and drink this mixture. Do this two (or possibly three) times a day. It may take a while to get used to the taste. If you really don‘t like the taste, add extra honey.

Use Bragg's ACV or other brands from a health food store, not stuff you buy in a regular grocery store. Also avoid the ACV capsules sold in grocery stories and drug stores. They are a waste of money. As I said, the ACV did work for me. For the 3 to 4 weeks, I don't think I lost an ounce, but maybe my metabolism was speeding up. In the second and third month, the weight started to come off.

ACV has been used for hundreds of years for a variety of health issues, so this is not the latest fad diet. If you want more info, google “apple cider vinegar health benefits.”

  47. QUESTION:
is it ok to use a laxative after a long holiday binge to cleanse out my system and start a weight loss plan?
i want to know if its safe and OK. i know its a quick way to get rid of backed up waste and feel lighter.

    • ANSWER:
laxatives don't really cleanse the colon, simply soften the stool to make an easier exit but it's a forced exit so it's never good. it's ok to use if you experience constipation but just for the purpose of cleansing there are healthier and more effective ways like doing an "apple cleanse" of eating half a dozen apples throughout the day for 2-3 days until your bowel movement becomes regular and effortless. or saline enemas are incredibly effective if you have the time of day and endurance. they clean out your colon like nothing else and remove most toxins and waste build-up on the walls that have collected for years. eat plenty of fiber like fruits and veggies and you won't need to resort to artificial stimulation like laxatives. stay healthy! :)

  48. QUESTION:
    I'm 18, around 135 pounds and 5'3"?
It's been really hard for me in school, and I'm starting to gain the Freshman 15 instead of lose it like I had planned!

What are your guys tips and tricks for quick and safe weight loss?

I already drink a lot of water, black coffee, almond milk and sometimes pure fruit juice. My campus doesn't offer healthy food at all....my choices are fast food, a dining hall with food that makes you sick or a "smart market" that offers mostly high carb foods like danishes, bagels, croissants, doughnuts, caprese sandwiches, salads and parfaits. When I use my meal plans, I normally get a salad, a yogurt or sometimes just a plain bagel, but, quite frankly, I"m sick of it.

I've also tried keeping foods in my fridge, but, as it turns out, it's hard to keep fruits and veggies in my dorm room when they go bad so quickly!

I sometimes have time to work out, but, rarely do I ever have the energy to actually do it because I'm so busy [3 jobs, dean's list GPA, 2 committees, 4 clubs, etc.]

I'm really looking to tone my stomach, upper thighs and back.

What do you think I should do?
I'm looking to be 120 by June & 115 by September.
Just because you guys seem to keep saying the same things over and over again....

    1. I'm not making excuses. When I'm busy literally every minute of the day from 7am-10pm, it's hard to find time to workout. I haven't been the only person on my campus to complain about the unhealthiness of the food [actually, a lot of people have been putting in complaints...] so, my food options are the problem not the portion sizes.

    2. All the things I've listed are not the things that I've been eating. I try as hard as I can to stick to a fruit, veggie and whole grain diet. If i get a bagel, I always get whole wheat. If I get a salad, I don't have dressing [only olive oil or tomato slices]. The problem is, I'm getting sick of the same 3/4 things over and over.

    3. I already have cut out junk food [chips/pretzles] most sweets [I only have a candy bar once a week, tops] any coffee thats not black, soda, gum, all the big culprits.

    4. I don't binge eat. So, eating when I'm stressed is not in the slig

    • ANSWER:
Your campus must be tiny if you don't walk a lot just getting around. You could get a pedometer to see how many steps (and how many miles) you walk each day. I think 2000 steps is the minimum goal.

Carbohydrates are not created equal. Unrefined carbohydrates (whole grains) are healthful in moderate quantities; refined carbohydrates (white stuff) are to be avoided. Unless those bagels are made with whole grain flour (which should be the first ingredient on the list), the most healthful thing on your list is the salad (and only if it's not covered with oily dressing).

Portion sizes can be a problem as well. Often, the bagels available are 4 servings, not 1 serving. Check the label.

How long have you been trying to keep fruits and veggies in the fridge? Anything that can be eaten raw should keep for a week except maybe mushrooms. Maybe your fridge isn't cold enough? If you can solve the "keeping" problem, making fruits and vegetables the center of your diet is a good idea--nobody ever got fat from eating fruits and vegetables. It's much better to EAT your fruit instead of drinking it (juice has no fiber, so it doesn't give you a "full" feeling like the piece of fruit does).

You asked what I think you should do, so here goes. I think you should learn as much as you can about nutrition and then plan your meals and snacks to provide you with good nutrition. I think you should get at least 8 hours of sleep every night, because lack of sleep can lead to weight gain. I think you should prioritize your activities and put the energy into the ones you value most. If you value 3 jobs, 2 committees, 4 clubs, and the high GPA over the workouts, then keep doing what you're doing. Otherwise, decide what is most important to you and do that. I think you should NOT go on a severely restrictive diet, because that will lead to trouble. Good luck with all that!

  49. QUESTION:
    Manuka Honey/Radish/Carrot=Weight Loss?
Radishes and carrots are great for weight loss as they are high in fiber and speed up your metabolism, and Manuka Honey is a 'superfood' and has lots of vitamins and healthy stuff in it and will keep my blood sugar up, preventing me from fainting. So what I plan to do is eat lots of radishes and carrots and 5 teaspoons of manuka honey/day. (1 teaspoon = 24kcal)
And I wanna do this for 3 months. How much weight will I lose???
I know this is not a balanced or healthy diet, but I want to lose weight QUICK. So please if you're just gonna tell me not to do it then don't write to me, cause I know that it is not the safest way to lose weight etc. On the other hand I do NOT encourage anyone else to do this as everyone is different and what one person may be able to do another might not, so everyone should do things according to their own body and mind.
    Thank you :)

  50. QUESTION:
How much weight can you safely lose?
Ok so I am a little confused. I have read and heard everywhere that safe weight loss is about 1 to 2 pounds per week, in some places I have even read that it can be safe to lose up to 3 pounds per week. But nothing more. So this would be anywhere from 8 to 13 pounds per month. But on the other hand I have been reading that people who have a lot of weight to lose will probably lose weight at a faster rate. So how is this safe? If a person is extremely over weight, how much weight can they lose safely? Is there some double standard that obese people can lose weight a quicker rate because they are obese? Here are some details to help out. I'm 26 yrs old and I weigh about 276. I have already lost 8 pounds in like 2 weeks from being sick with bronchitis. And I didn't put it back on, I got over it a week ago and the weight hasn't come back. So if I ate 1,200 calories a day and exercised for 30-45 minutes at least 3-4 days a week how much could I safely lose? Is this too little calories? I have tried using those online calculators, but they give me too wide of a range. They say anything from 1,300 to 1,900 to lose weight. But they say the average female my age should only have about 1,200 calories a day. I know that its not safe to lose 60 pounds in three months or something like that. I just want to do this in a healthy way once and for all. I know I didn't gain it over night so I'm not going to lose it over night I just want to know whats safe. My goal is really to get down to like 140-150 in a year (or less) which means I have to lose 136 pounds or more. Is this possible and safe or not?

    • ANSWER:
First, I'm no expert in calorie counters, but I have been given one and 1,200 is far too little for an average woman your age. My mom who's barely 100 pounds and 52 needs about 1500 a day to maintain herself. The best way is to try figure out how much calories you need to maintain your weight and then subtract 500 calories less from that each day. For me, being very active I still need 3000 a day to maintain weight, and lose it eating 2500. I'd think that 1500 for you with that type of exercise would be enough to lose weight steadily. Also, you will drop weight a lot quicker in the beginning as a lot of it is harder. I think that your weight loss is easily achievable and wouldn't be unhealthy, especially if you're eating healthy and not starving yourself. Good luck! A quick tip- if you're struggling for time some days do a 10 min skip. I was told this burns off the same amount of calories as a half hour jog!
