  7. QUESTION:
Are there any online support groups for weight loss?
I don't want a huge forum - it's easy to get lost in those. I'd like to meet anywhere from 1-4 others online in a sort of weight loss support group. Any suggestions on where to find this?

    • ANSWER:
Believe it or not, the best support you're going to find is right there in front of your monitor. Rearrange your thought processes on dieting from living to eat to eating to live. It's not hard, just takes some time, patience, and positivity. Here's my weightloss blog with links:

Here’s all you need to lose weight all over, look good, and get really healthy. First, you have to realize there is no quick, long lasting weight loss plan or pill that is going to do the trick. It’s purely mental. You have to learn to “Eat to live, don’t live to eat”. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It is, if you understand that you are going to be reprogramming how you think about eating for the next few weeks. Old habits die hard, right? Not really. You get rid of bad habits by replacing them with good habits. If you learn to count your Calories, keep Calorie intake lower than output, exercise moderately, and eat only healthy food, you will lose weight. That’s a fact. All it takes is repetition. All success stories have this in common: The successful folks among us know how to be patient, persistent, and consistent. Set a goal, write it down, and stick with it. The benefits of feeling good will outweigh any sense of sacrifice you might feel about having to push away that cake and ice cream. Here are some helpful and healthy links to help you get started on your way:

  17. QUESTION:
    Online weight loss support group?
Does anyone know of a popular online weight loss support group, besides weight watchers?

    • ANSWER:
Okay this is not an online site suggestion but..... losing weight doesn't mean to stop eating just what you eat. Easy thing {rule of thumb} to remember that the less processing the better the food is for you. If you buy fresh veges an fresh fruit..... lean meats an grain breads {limit breads} then the weight will start to drop. Oh an stay well hydrated..... water for thirst instead of sodas an other junk drinks. Use real sugar an just cut down on the sweets. Have a sweet fruit instead of a sweet pop-tart. Baby leaf spinach is better than lettuce as far as vitamins. Diet foods are expensive an less nutrients. Hope all this helps an good luck with your weight loss.

i want to lose weight. usually when i have dieted in the past my experience with it has been frustrating, aggrivating, unfullfilling. So most of the times when i've actually lost weight it was just because of some change in my life that caused it or lead me to be really busy and forget about food or limit my intake of food.

i don't like superficiality. i hate hearing about how people want to be hot. mainly i want to hear about the health benefits of losing weight and not the social or egotistical benefits.

but thats pretty obvious. is there any kind of motivational support or group that can help with this dilemma. i want to have a positive experience with diet and excercise.

The Trim Body System has an online support system that is free with the kit. You get daily support, read about the success of people just like you, and find out how you can begin your own journey toward optimal health. Quite nice. The Trim Body System Kit itself is great because it comes with Meal Plan Cards, Recipe Cards, Fitness Cards, DVD set, food and supplements. Go to http://Arcameda.com and click on Weight Management or search the site for 'body system' for more information on the kit and how to get the kit. Stay positive and you will reach your goal. Takes time. Have a good journey. Go to my profile and email me from there if you need an addition information.

The main thing about weight loss is all about establishing a pattern and sticking to it. Eating 5-7 small meals a day and exercising for 1hr a day at least 5 to 6 days a week. Eating small meals keeps your metabolism exercising throughout the day. Some small meals you can get are Trim Meal replacement bars. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fruits and veggies. Also being sure to start your day with a simple fruit breakfast and bar. Plan to loose 1 to 3 pounds a week only. That is for a healthy weight loss.

  33. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any good recommendations for online weight loss support groups?
I was considering joining weight watchers, but don't want to spend about a month. I have been struggling with my weight for the past few years, I put on about 40 lbs in a matter of 4 months and believe it was due to diet pills (taking them, and then stopping). Now, no matter how much exercise or how much I watch what I eat, I can't seem to lose weight. FYI: four months ago I became vegetarian and for a long time I have mainly eaten organic foods.
    Mr. Obie:

I decided to switch to a vegetarian diet after reading "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Saffron Foer. So, initially it was because of animal cruelty, but then I started finding out all of the health benefits that are associated with this kind of diet. Also, since I have made the switch to vegetarianism, I have been able to lose a couple pounds (and more easily than when eating meat), but it still comes off VERY slowly and my body seems so sensitive - I gain weight for the smallest slip up, but it takes me seven days of strict diet and exercise to lose a pound.

    Thank you for your advice!

    • ANSWER:
Great! Organic foods are awesome, especially if they are from your backyard and you harvest them right before you eat them. What a handful of nutrients! Good choice on that one.

If indeed you are exercising and watching what you eat but still not getting closer to the physique you want, then obviously one or more systems in your body is out of whack. You need to figure out what's wrong and then your optimal diet. What prompted you to switch to a vegetarian diet? If your body doesn't function well on a vegetarian diet, then you would probably have a difficult time getting to the physique you want. You need to find your your unique metabolic needs and begin implementing that diet plan and changing your lifestyle for long-lasting lifetime vibrant health, not some short-term diet pill.

a month is probably a good investment towards your health. Remember, your health isn't just an asset, it's a liability.

My recommendation would be my website, where you get personalized correspondent support. After all, one man's meat is another man's poison.

      Best of luck

Wishing you the best in health,

      Mr. Obie

  34. QUESTION:
Weight loss online support for free?
Okay so I really want to lose weight, not just to look better and gain confidence, but for health reasons too. I'm a size 26 and right now my goal is to get to a size 18. Then once I reach that I'll set a new goal.
I'm looking for a place online that is free, maybe where I can meet a weight loss buddy, and we can help each other stay motivated.
Diabetes runs in my family and I don't want to be another person to get it. I know that I have probably done some irreversible damage to my body, but I still want to fix what I can.
So, if anyone knows of a good place to go to meet some great people to talk to, maybe an open forum... please let me know.

P.S. I am supposed to be joining a free nutrition program for teenage girls in high school, but that isn't starting up for a few weeks, and I want to start now, so I can get down to at least a size 24 (a size below) for prom since a lot of stores only sell up to size 24....
    Thank in advance. <3

Weight loss is a tricky topic. Lots of people are unhappy with their present weight, but most aren't sure how to change it - and many would be better off staying where they are. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines and on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you. Besides, no magical diet or pill will make you look like someone else.

So what should you do about weight control?

Hope this can help u. :)

I just want someone or some program that will ask me what i ate and how much i weigh to help me lose weight. I would like to lose 40 -45 lbs

    • ANSWER:
The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get an online, desktop, or cell phone diet and fitness calculator. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
      Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
      Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

Here are two articles on how to break through a weight loss plateau:

      http://www.webmd.com/content/pages/18/102117.htm

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier.

  44. QUESTION:
    Online support for weight loss?
I'm looking for any online forums or communities for people who are trying to lose weight.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Preferably one that is helpful and supportive :)

    • ANSWER:
Just go to google and type in "weight loss support forums" you'll find forums there :) . Many of people will be there to help you get through hard times you are having, it's more helpful to have a real life friend help though, like how Alcoholics Anonymous does it, if they have an urge they just call their buddy to help them get through it.

  46. QUESTION:
I have no support for weight loss?
Hi, I'm a female and I'm 5-9' or 5-10", I'm not sure which one. I used to weigh about 172 lbs, and I currently weigh around 155 lbs. My goal is to get in the 140's, but it feels like I have no support. I'm 15, and my mom doesn't know Ive been trying to lose weight. I drop subtle hints, like asking her to buy wheat bread instead of white. But she pokes fun at me because I started eating healthier, and its really starting to get to me. I can't exercise as much because school has started, and I can't follow the eating regime that I had during the summer, which was eating something every 3-4 hours. I eat at 6:00 am, and with the school lunch schedule I can't eat again for at least 5 more hours. I've just been feeling really down lately, and I need some encouragement. What are some online weight loss support sites (no myspace) and what are some weighs to get exercise in with a very tight schedule (I don't want to join a sports team because I am taking all advanced class, and don't need any extra stress). Thank you very much

    • ANSWER:
Wow you should be very proud of yourself, missy!!!! I'm proud of you! Losing weight is so hard to do and it sounds like you really put your mind to it over the summer! Since you eat breakfast so early, I'd find a healthy snack that you can eat between class in the morning [celery sticks+PB,carrots or 100 calorie snack packs??]. Is there a reason you don't want to tell family/friends about your decision to eat/live healthier?? I think telling your mom is very important, since I'm assuming she does the majority of grocery shopping and is the one who needs to be aware of your new eating habits. I don't know your situation so I could be wrong but her teasing you is probably her way of saying she's proud or even that she's a tad jealous you dropped almost 20 lbs!! .. I can definitely see my mom reacting that way instead of just flat-out saying 'Good job!'. Offhand I don't know of any weight loss support websites but there are a ton out there - google, google! Sorry if this isn't the most helpful response but I really just thought you need to know what a great job you've done and I wish you good luck on keeping it off.. you can do it!!! :]

  48. QUESTION:
Online support blogs/chats for weight loss?
Does anyone know of some good online support blogs or chats for weight loss, or specifically for people looking to lose a lot of weight? I used to belong to Weight Watchers and participated in their online blogs, but people could get pretty catty on that site. I have since moved on to a more holistic-focused type of weight loss/wellness program, and would like some type of support system for people experiencing the same type of situation I am.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    • ANSWER:
Try joining a local gym geared toward people in your demographic. That way you can get the support in real life too.
