     My brother took it and it did not work at all for him. He like you, needed to lose quite a bit of weight. It really is a waste of money, really expensive in the long run.

     The only way to lose weight is to eat healthy and watch your portions and exercise.

     Regardless it is just another new fad and I highly doubt it works. If a weight loss product that ACTUALLY worked was ever discovered I bet it would change the world and be all over the news. Medical doctors would be shouting from the rooftops to take it and overnight America wouldn't be the most obese country in the world anymore

     Alli is chemically the same as Xenical(by prescription) except it is 50% WEAKER!! It doesn't supress appetite,only blocks approx. 30% 0f certain types of FAT from being absorbed.Unless you are ingesting an excessive amount of fatty foods you probably won't benifit,since it doesn't suppress appetite nor does it burn calories..I have used the stronger prescription version for years, but only occassionally such as when I pig out on fried foods, greasy pork chops, etc..

      Ever read the small print? It usually says "works when used in conjunction with an exercise and diet program."

      Most of the pills are virtually useless. What causes weight loss is good nutrition and exercise. Period.

      Some of the diet pills can help control your appetite and the "placebo" affect can help you psychologically, but none are particularly useful beyond that.

      Think of this logically. NONE of these pills are FDA approved. IF any of these were drugs they would have to undergo FDA approval. If they were genuinely effective, they'd be classified as drugs. If a miracle pill existed, it would be BIG news. 20/20 did a recent show on weight loss gimics and basically said they were all of minimal use.

      So....they will lighten your wallet, but so far nothing beyond the classic eat less, and exercise more, is effective.

      Note that when it comes to diet, more protein and less carbs HAS been well documented in recent years to encourage more fat loss than other approaches and it is healthy. But if you aren't doing weight building exercise, you will lose a lot of muscle too, slowing your loss and making it almost certain you will regain the weight, all as fat.

      I've not heard of or read reliable reports of anything that actually works...all those products tell you to eat right and exercise, and you'd lose weight if you did that without the product, which make the product a waste of money at best...

      Make a lifestyle change and stick with it...and remember although slow weight loss can be frustrating, the slower you lose the higher your chance of keeping it off long term...

      I found my best natural weight loss aid was to eat as 'clean' as I could...I cut out nearly all processed foods and things high in sodium (no extra salt on anything) and I dropped the last 17 lbs I'd been working on for a couple of years...I can eat what I want now (within reason) and be active, to maintain my weight...I still keep processed foods and sodium to a minimum overall though (except I have to have salt in my margaritas...LOL!)

      Alli is actually the former perscription weight loss drug, Xenical (Hence why it was FDA approved, it used to be avaialbe only by perscription). This medication can have some NASTY side effects. The medication works by not allowing your body to absorb fat. Trouble is that if you injest anything that has fat, it's just going to have to come out the other end. While on this medication, expect to have what I call "greasy feases".

    I have two questions about weight loss. I dont want to loose much, Just 20 pounds. Im 5 7 and weigh 135. I was at 142 and have been on a diet for a week now and lost 7 pounds but the last 2 days I have gained a pound and have done nothing different from the diet ive been doing accept adding a crystal lite packet to my water maybe twice a day.       ok a few things.

      1. when trying to lose weight, only weigh once per week at the same time of day, on the same day each week. Your weight will fluctuate throughout the week for various reasons and you will only get discouraged by this.

      2. Water is still better than diet drinks like sodas and Crystal Light. It helps make your body more efficient. Your liver assists the kidneys when they have too much work in filtering the crap out of food and drink such that it can use it. If the liver is too busy doing that... it becomes less efficient at it's first job, which is metabolizing/burning fat. If you drink more water, the kidneys will keep up on their own... letting the liver do what it does best.

      3. Birth control can make you gain weight... but it's not the BC itself... the pill is telling your body that it's pregnant so it won't continue to ovulate. Your body releases hormones when it's pregnant and they make us emotional which make us eat.. and they also make us hungry, and the slow our metabolism to prepare for gaining fat necessary in pregnancy. Over time it will stop. I don't think there is any BC that doesn't do all that. I think that the Nuva Ring is the best when it comes to that though, it's very low dose.

      the so called scientific literature is simply fabricated by the firms themselves as they know just what the public want to hear so the mark up can and is just incredible on protein powers,slimming pills,well basically everything that can be produced at an extremely low price in bulk - no wonder this industry pulls in more money than the Mafia each year,
      normal food and water intake is the only essential anyone needs - lower calories for weight loss or simply increase them for weight gain...

    Slim fast products & weight loss.?
    I am currently trying to loose weight.

    Me:
    weight - 10 stone 11 lbs (151lbs or 68kg)
    height - 5 foot 4 inches
    bmi - 25.79 - overweight (93rd centile)

    I want to be:
    weight - 9 stone (126lbs or 57kg)
    height - 5 foot 4 inches

    Im starting a new diet as i have tried so many & none of them seem to show positive results. I have decided to start the slim fast diet. This diet means i have to drink two milkshakes which are made up of slim fast powder mixed with skimmed milk & a main meal. I can also have snacks but i rarely get hungry during the day. This is a calorie controlled diet. I also exercise for about 1hour a week ad i have a busy schedule.

    My diet plan:
    1 milkshake for breakfast.
    1 slim fast cup of soup for dinner OR 1 milkshake.
    A main meal for example jacket potato or salad with rice & chicken etc...

    Is anyone else on this diet? Can anyone else give me some tips or advice?
    How long will it take for me to loose weight on this diet? Does it actually work?

      Seems like a very small amount of food, I'd eat more small meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism up.

      1 hour a week of exercise is not enough though, you should get your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day.

    I need to loose a lot of weight. Since starting a new medication in the summer I have gained 30 pounds. I can not stop taking the med, its not an option and I have been put on a pill that increases my sensitivity to insulin to decrease appetite as well as an oral contraceptive, which some of my friends say increases weight too.

    I have joined a gym recently but still have not much clue on what to do there. My current routine is 30 min on the ellipse and then 15-25 on the cycle then 15 minutes of abs.I work a lot and do not have much time for the gym. Does any one have specific answers on a good gym routine especially for thighs hips tummy love handles and upper harms that can be done in an hour or so at the gym.,

    Obviously exercise is not enough, I need a strict and specific diet but have no one to consult because I am not made out of money. I cant use weight loss products like hydroxy cut because of the nature of the medications i am on. Can anyone help?

      A few years ago my then wife bought a product similar to that. She used it for hours at a time like the seller recommends. It did not cause a loss of weight, but she enjoyed the sensation for a little while. I would say don't bother, even in the ad it says "It's too good to be true." That's a clear sign of a scam.

    I can't believe the crap people buy when I am working. Alli, the newest weight-loss drug is selling like crazy at a bottle.
