      I don't think the armed forces has a special diet per se. My husband currently serves and struggles with his weight. Most of the time he makes his weight, but when he doesn't he passes his tape. Therefore, if you do not meet the weight requirement, you may make the tape. To lose weight, they DO put them on remedial P. T. where they exercise three to four times a day. When my husband is preparing for a P.T. test, he cuts out all RED meat, eats a lot of fruits and vegetables. He also does not eat after 7:00 p.m. and runs anywhere from two to five miles a day and lifts weights. Try talking to a recruiter. Many people have a problem getting to exercise with their busy schedules, I suggest swimming since it works every muscle in your body and if you have health issues, your okay.       I have a fast heartbeat also. I suggest first you see a Cardiologist. Let them run stress tests on you first. See how your heart functions under stress.       EXERCISE, is key. I would start off with running/jogging every day.
      This will get your blood flowing and boost your metablolism. You will also start to feel better and want to exercise.
      Then try doing some crunches/sit ups this will help build some muscle.

      EATING HABITS, that's a major thing people forget about as thier livers progress. As a kid, you were able to eat fast food and chips all the time and not gain much weight. Now that you are getting older your body needs more care. Try eating lean meats or tofu, drinking lots of water, cutting out sodas (They are full of sugar that turns to fat, and no diet soda isn't okay, it's worst.), eat fruits and vegtables, and maybe try taking a multi-vitamin or something of the kind.

      SLEEP, is also a contributing factor to weight gain, when you sleep, believe it or not, you lose weight, BUT this does not mean to sleep all day long because that's bad too.

      EATING, is important, DO NOT starve yourself, it will lead to more problems and few pounds will be lost. You should eat 4-5 SMALL meals a day. This will help boost your immune system.

      SNACKING is bad, but can be good depending on what you choose.
      Pretzels, yogurt, trail mix, protien drink, smoothies, cereal, non-fat milk, fruit, vegtables, salad, and granola bars are just some of the many good snaking foods.

      BREAKFAST, is the most important meal of your day, believe it or not, it's what starts your metabolism. So, eat breakfast everyday, but make good choices. These include: low-fat milk, juice, water, eggs, lean breakfast meats, waffles (in moderation), etc.

      Just waalk 3 - 4 miles a day. I walked I walked 3-5 days a week for 3 weeks and lost 10 lbs. I also cut out juice. I just drank water and replace a good portion of my meals with lentil soup. I lost 10 pounds around mid july. I got off my diet but I was never a big eater anyway and still managed to lose 5 more lbs doing nothing. So now I am 145.

      I do need to start up again to lose the 20 more lbs.

      Well firstly, you need to be eating a healthy balanced, low fat diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

      Any exercise where it manages to get your heart rate up. Making your blood pump faster around your heart, you are breathing harder, and sweating. This way you will be burning calories.

      But like with any exercise. Unless you are combining it with healthy eating. Then it will work. But if you don't then you won't see any results.

      Exercise is beneficial regardless of your diet. However, 80% of your physique is a result of what you eat. 20% is exercise. So exercise and healthy eating work perfectly together.

      Remember if once you have managed to reach your target weight. You CAN'T go back to your old eating habits and activity levels. Otherwise you WILL put all the weight back on again. It is as simple as that.

      Water is very good for you and specially if you're on diet and if you're working out-water is very good and keeps you hydrated.
      I don't believe in pills or any weight loss shakes-they are bogus and lame and are temporally and have many side effects.

      First loose the soda, cut down on pizza and fast food.
      If you like fires make 'em at home in oven. They come out very yummy and oil free.

      Key is to eat small portions 5 times a day.
      Morning: boiled eggs, corn flakes, fat free milk, if you want to fry eggs loose the yolk and eat the white part.
      Morning snack around 10:30am-11am: a piece of fruit / 2 cups of veggie/ salad
      Lunch: Turkey / Chicken lunchmeat with whole grain or wheat bread.
      1 Cup of veggies.
      Mid day snack (around 2:30pm or so) a piece of fruit or health bar.
      Dinner: Grill fish with veggies / brown rice with beans/ wheat pasta with grill chicken.
      9pm snack (optional-only if you feel lil hungry 2 hours before your sleep time) have yogurt.

      The key is to loose red meat and pork and add more wheat products to your diet. Drink lots of water. As you can read i did not talk about any sweet products. Sweet only from fruits no cookies no cake no brownies.None of that. Sweet things have more and load and calories. Take your protein because you would need that protein for your work out.

      For hips, behind and thighs one thing SQUATS and LUNGES helps a lot!
      SQUATS are hard to do in start but once you get use to of it, no problem
      for butt is "BUTT BLASTER" EXERCISE. You can do it in your bedroom. To see how to perform those exercises, you can go image google put the key word and check out the pics and that will give you idea on how to perform those exercises. All the exercises i told you, you can do it in your bedroom, no need to go to gym or buy any equipment.

      Start by doing 3 sets of 15 each.

      Believe me you will see results within a month.
      I have told other people too, this entire veggies and fruit intake will make you very regular and you will make about 4 trips to the bathroom, so be prepare.

      Just keep doing cardio and burning those calories im sure you will notice that you are losing weight.
      Also sometimes your body would tone up and u wouldn't lose pounds but you would lose inches!
      so measure your body with a tape measure and see if your losing inches.

      You're getting a late start to lose 10 lbs in less than a month.

      For the rest of the month, you will need to cut out all processed foods and cut way back on sugar, red meat and eggs. No candy/egg nog, pie, cookies at all. Eat salads, fruit, veggies and other high fiber foods - for protien, fish and chicken. No shell fish including shrimp.

      Then you will need to exercise at least 2.5 hours every day -- half cardio and half weights in order to burn calories.

      Fact is you should have started a month ago.

      reply to your edit... I don't think the amount of exercise you get in is sufficient to lose weight -- you need to be burning calories -- 30 minutes a day walking is great for maintenance, but it's not a big calorie burn, and neither is intermittent gardening or walking the dog on weekends.

      If you walk 2 miles a day at a walking speed of 3.2 miles an hour you burn about 180 calories. That's not a lot. Your stated goal was to drop 10 lbs in less than a month, so you have to work harder to get your metabolism reved up and burning the calories... that is what the combo of both cardio and weight work do. You can do fad diets, but usually the weight comes back and then some.

      blah blah blah unsafe, blah blah blah diet and exercise, blah blah blah....

      Here's some math. Let's assume a person has a BMR of 1400, meaning their body needs 1400 calories to not feed on fat stores, if the person does not move at all. Adding in the amount of movement a person usually does in a day, lets say, to avoid feeding on fat stores, the person needs to eat at least 1800 calories a day. This person eats 500 calories a day. They have a calorie deficit of 1300 calories. A pound of fat is about 3500 calories. So the person would lose a pound about every three days. That's two pounds a week, without any exercise or anything. Now, obviously this doesn't factor in specific metabolic changes, or anything specific. This is just math. If the person burns, say, another 400 calories a day with exercise, meaning they would have a calorie deficit of 1700 calories. They would lose a pound every two days.

      This is not personal experience. This is just math. In practice, none of this is probably true. But, interestingly enough, I did this math earlier today, because I've been eating about 500 calories a day lately and I was curious. :)

      Any diet that makes you lose weight will also make your bloodpressure go down as you do.

      Dark chocolate (min 70% cocoa) also has some unique ingredients that lower bloodpressure, but you have to take the calories into account.

      You don't have to cook much. Cook big stuff when you do cook, and cook it without salt. Then throw it in some tupperware and in the fridge or freezer. Keep in mind that you do require SOME salt - but not much.

Cut out soda and high sugary drinks, and stick mostly to water.

      Eating no sugar makes the body burn any stored fat. Get up half an hour earlier and walk. You'll feel better all day because of it. My wife used to tell me how much I would have to exercise in order to burn off what I was eating. We have to burn 3500 calories in order to lose one pound no matter what foods we eat! Do little spurts of exercise throughout the day if you can't do it all at once. Run in place while you are on the phone or drying your hair; do leg lifts while you are cooking; swing one arm while you are using the other one, etc.

    I am 15 and I want to lose weight. I need to lost weight because I am overweight. For the new school year I want to start a diet and lose a good amount of weight. How do I keep the diet going even in school? What should I eat at home and school?

      Just stay away from the vending machines! No candy, chips or soda.
      If your school offers a salad bar go for that. Skip the fries and extra salt.

      If you don't live too far walk to school instead of getting a ride or taking the bus or stay after school to walk the track if you have one.

      A healthy diet doesnt nessecerly mean eating less so you could just eat normally everyday without eating too much or too little and exercising everyday.
      For example for breakfast instead of eating eggs and bacon stick with cereal.
      Instead of a cookie for a snack try a banana
      For lunch maybe try low fat food
      Dinner take it seriulsy. Dont eat past 9pm. Eat a light, healthy dinner
      Drink a lot of water throughout the day.

      yes, they can be beneficial as part of a weight reduction diet.

      you want to use a protein powder that is either casein or contains milk proteins. milk protein is the combination of whey & casein. you don't want to use straight whey protein protein for weight loss. whey protein causes a spike in the amino acid (AA) concentration in the blood. this spike stimulates muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and has more of an anabolic (muscle building) response. AA levels rise, spike and decline in several hours. casein has a different amino acid profile and is digested and metabolized slower than whey. it provides amino acids over a much longer period of time from 4-5 hours. this slower release of amino acids into the bloodstream has more of an anti-catabolic effect so it is more beneficial when losing body fat AND preserving muscle is the primary goal when on a reduced calorie diet.
