Lose Belly Fat

Cinnamon can reduce belly fat! Yes! That is what I said.

Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices known to man. In fact it was considered more precious than gold. The early Egyptians used it for flavoring foods and for medicinal purposes and it’s even mentioned in the bible.

Today most people only think of cinnamon as a spice for apple pie or sweet potatoes and gingerbread cookies. But cinnamon is in fact so much more!

Quite by accident the Maryland USDA Research Center discovered the wonders of cinnamon. They were conducting a study on how certain foods affected glucose (blood sugar) levels in the body. When it came to apple pie (with cinnamon) they expected it to have an adverse effect on the body. To their utter surprise, it lowered glucose levels in the blood. This merited further study.

In December of 2003, the Dept. of Human Nutrition in Peshawar, Pakistan, a study was underway to determine how cinnamon affected glucose levels, triglyceride and good and bad cholesterol on 60 patients with type 2 diabetes.

The first group was given between 1 to 6 g of cinnamon per day and the second placebo. After 40 days the cinnamon group had a reduction in glucose levels between 18 and 29%. Triglycerides reduced by 23 to 30% and LDL cholesterol 7 to 27% and overall cholesterol 12 to 26%. In fact this group continued to register lower levels even after 20 days of not taking the cinnamon! The placebo group had no real changes. This is good news for diabetics and people with heart disease.

In a study done with rats, one group was given a high fructose diet with cinnamon and the other a lower amount of sugars. The end result was both groups did the same. Even though the rats ate high fructose, cinnamon causes the body to lower glucose levels and manage insulin levels and making it possible to shrink the belly fat.

If you add cinnamon to your daily diet either by sprinkling on foods or taken as a capsule or liquid herbal tonic, this may help you in the battle of the bulge. To speed up the process, add an aerobic activity or brisk walking, plenty of water and fresh vegetables and you’ll feel better and look better.

Cinnamon is a delicious way to help you lose weight. Happy eating!

  1. QUESTION:
What are some good excersizes to lose some weight and belly fat?
i need to lose some weight soon, i already am eating better but i need some very good excersizes to help me lose belly fat. i also want to tone my back and butt. but my main priorty is losing fat. any ideas that dont include using one of those big blow up balls?

    • ANSWER:
Low-level cardio is good for burning fat. Walking, biking, rowing, something that will increase your heartrate no more than 65% than your resting rate (typically 120-125 for 20-30 yr olds).
Unfortunately, the abs are the last area we lose fat from. The changes start at the extremities and work towards the core. However, do plently of upper/lower abs, obliques, and lower back exercises to focus and start toning that area.

Do regular crunches, then alternate side crunches (lie on back, knees bent, rest right calf on left thigh and bring left elbow to right knee, do the same for the other side)
For the lower abs, lie on back, hands to sides, lift both legs slightly off the ground and hold for 2-5 sec. OR lie on back, lift both legs slightly off ground and open them up to shoulder width and bring back together. repeat as above.
For lower back, lie on stomach, legs stretched out, put hands behind head and using abs, lift your shoulders off ground and do "backwards crunches".
For sides, stand with feet shoulder width apart, arms down to sides, holding weight (5-10 lbs) in one hand, bend to the side from the waist lowering weight towards your knee, use other hand to reach over head as you bend.
Some other great exercises are lunges, push-ups.
Challenging one for legs, thighs and butt: lie on floor on side one leg onto of another. Use the top leg to "spell" out the alphabet or numbers 1-25. The bigger the letters the more you will feel it.
(I've tried it and I can only get to letter K before the muscles burn)

  2. QUESTION:
how to lose belly fat and keep my legs from getting skinny?
ok so i keep reading that you can't lose fat in just one area. and you have to do cardio to lose fat. i used to run a lot but it made my legs really skinny and i didnt lose my belly. so how can i lose my belly fat faster and not make my legs so skinny?

    • ANSWER:
Hi there! Here are my tips for a flat and well toned stomach. I've been doing this since then so i
I'm definitely sure this will work for you too: (just promise to do this)

Good examples of cardio exercises are walking, swimming, aerobics and jogging. Strength training can be done by dumbbells or resistance bands. Few stretches held in place for about 20 seconds.

Crunches can be part of your abdominal training but should be limited and certainly shouldn’t be the only part. To most effectively work your stomach area it is necessary to include about 80% rotational work, were you twist your body.Tips to have correct form include: Don’t ever pull on your neck or head. Don’t allow you legs to move, they should remain still and try to keep your belly button pulled in toward the floor throughout the entire move.

Basic crunch: Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands lightly behind your head for support. Using your abdominal muscles lift your shoulders a few inches off the ground, pause briefly and return to start position. Complete at least one set of 10-12 reps.

Standing towel circle: stand tall and hold a small towel (or resistance band) taut overhead. Contract abs and slowly draw a large, wide circle over your head and around your torso with your hands. Keep towel pulled taut throughout. Return to beginning position and reverse the circular direction complete at least one set of 8-10 reps in each direction.

Oblique twists with ball: begin by sitting on the ball, walk feet forward until ball is resting under your back-body is now parallel to the floor. Place hands lightly behind head for support. Using your abdominal muscles slowly crunch up lifting your shoulder blades off of the ball and rotate left shoulder toward right hip. Return to starting parallel position and repeat then switch sides.

  3. QUESTION:
What is the best exercise there is to lose belly fat?
PLEASE READ - im on a diet
yes i watch my food but i just dont know what exercise to do.
I am athletic & all & can run fast but i just want to lose fat ((( everywhere ))) ((( including belly fat ))) GOOD & FAST to play soccer.
    PLEASE HELP =[

    • ANSWER:
There's only ONE WAY to lose fat - and that is to create a calorie deficit. However, there are two ways to create a calorie deficit - one is to decrease your food intake so you are eating less than you burn, the other is to increase your exercise and activity so you are burning more than you eat.

Of the two ways to create a calorie deficit, burning the fat is far superior to starving it. You see, cutting calories too much causes weight loss at first, but it also causes muscle loss and it eventually leads to a decrease in metabolism, so the weight loss stops. This is very common on conventional diets, right? You lose weight in the beginning, but then you hit a plateau that you just can't break through. Cutting calories even more at this point only digs you even into a deeper "metabolic hole."

Eating more of the right foods (up to a certain point) actually increases your metabolic "heat" like putting wood on a fire. Food is energy; food is fuel, and it produces (metabolic) heat.

Exercise burns calories and creates a calorie deficit, but the real advantage of exercise over diet is that exercise increases your metabolism, dieting slows it down. Exercise also has major health benefits, while starvation can only create health problems.

So if you eat more (healthy foods) and exercise more, you get a double increase in metabolism. If you eat less and exercise less you get a double decrease in metabolism. That makes complete sense doesn't it?

The IDEAL exercise program for fat loss has a combination of cardiovascular (aerobic) training and strength training. But ultimately, you're not likely to stick with exercise long term unless you choose activities you enjoy - so pick something you enjoy, even if it doesn't follow the guidelines of "traditional" fat loss programs. It's better to do something than nothing, and all exercise counts.

Some people may have orthopedic problems which limit the type of exercise they can do. But nearly everyone can walk. So if you can walk, then walk. And almost everyone can do some type of strength training. Instead of focusing on what you can't do or what you don't like to do, direct your attention to what you CAN do and what you would like to do.

Maybe you don't like being couped up inside all the time. Maybe you'd prefer hiking or jogging outside. Or maybe boxing or martial arts sounds cool to you. Maybe you like basketball or tennis. Maybe you'd enjoy classes, or yoga or pilates. Your options are nearly unlimited, but you have to do something or your body will begin to deteriorate.

As you increase your lean muscle mass, you'll also get a permanent increase in your resting metabolic rate. Muscle is what drives your metabolism, keeps you young and makes you look more physically attractive. Others will notice how good you look, and you'll feel better about yourself too. Yes, you may lose weight from diet alone, but you're likely to end up a "skinny fat person" with a slow metabolism and very little lean body mass (not to mention, you'll probably gain back all the fat)

Last, but not least, be careful what you say to yourself over and over because that tends to program your subconscious mind and create your self image. If you've been repeating to yourself for years, "I'm not big on exercise" or "I'm not an exercise person", that eventually becomes a part of your identity. You always tend to behave in alignment with your identity in order to stay "true to yourself."

Maybe when you look in the mirror after just a few weeks and see your body start to change you'll begin to like enjoy exercise a LOT. It can get addictive, you know. The endorphins that are released when you exercise are like opiates. Ever hear of "runners HIGH?" Ever hear of an "exercise addict?" What would YOU rather be hooked on? Forget about popping pills, Your body is the most exquisite pharmacy on the planet. Exercise is a better fat burner, health creator, energy producer and anti-depressant than any man-made drug will EVER be. Exercise can be fun and FEEL GOOD too.

Human beings were meant to move. Bodies don't lose their function by being used too much and "wearing out", they lose their function by not being used enough and "rusting out." So if the positive benefits of exercise don't motivate you enough, then just picture yourself 10, 20 years from now and imagine what will happen to you if you DON'T start exercising today.

  4. QUESTION:
How can I lose belly fat without losing too much weight?
I am 15 years old (male) and I have belly fat and lovehandles. Albeit, I am not obese or overweight, I still would like to lose belly fat and slim down my stomach area. I heard that cardio can make you lose fat but I am worried that if I do too much cardio that I will lose a lot of weight. Any advice on how to lose the belly fat without losing too much weight on cardio exercises? Also is it advisable to lose the belly fat first and then concentrate on ab toning afterwards? Or maybe its better to do the ab muscle training along with the cardio?

P.S. can you also tell me how long the whole process will take?

    • ANSWER:
If you are doing lots of cardio, which is good for your heart and body, and do not want to lose weight but some fats, then you can eat more complex carbs and lean protein. The protein will enable you to turn them into muscles, if you weight train.

Overall, eat healthily with lots of veggies, lean meat and complex carbs and exercise, you will not have problem losing some fats.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

  5. QUESTION:
what are some good excersizes to lose some weight and belly fat?
i need to lose some weight soon, i already am eating better but i need some very good excersizes to help me lose belly fat. i also want to tone my back and butt. but my main priorty is losing fat. any ideas that dont include using one of those big blow up balls?

    • ANSWER:
Depending on your present physical condition, I would highly recommend walking and swimming. Start out with what you are comfortable with and increase your distance every week. Alternating the two exercises helps to keep it from getting boring. Once you get up to walking about 30 minutes or more 3 or 4 times a week you should start tightening up and shrinking the body fat. If you are swimming too it will accelerate the process. Doing floor exercises like mini crunches and leg raises can help tighten up the belly and butt as well as helping your lower back.

  6. QUESTION:
How Do You Lose Belly Fat Without Buying Or Dieting ?
I`m 106 pounds and I`m only 10.I want to lose fat and also want to lose alot of belly fat.I dont want to buy stuff or go to a special place or not eating alot.I only eat breakfast a little snack a lunch (sometimes) and supper I eat whatever my mom makes. And I dont know what kind of exercise I should do or anything. Please , Please , Please HELP !!!!

    • ANSWER:
Stomach fat is not something you can specifically target. You need to lose overall body fat, and the stomach is the last to go. It sounds to me like you shouldn't be worrying if you're only 10 years old. Just try to keep active (play sports) and you might even want to eat more (eating so little at your age will screw up your metabolize and perhaps harm your growth).

  7. QUESTION:
How to lose belly fat? My belly is saggy? I'll choose the best answer? !?

    • ANSWER:
I had the same problem i weigh 129 and im 5'4. you need to tone. you can do this by laying on your back and lifting your legs from the ground a quarter of the way then bring them back down but dont let them touch the ground. do as many as you can and when your about finished hold your legs in the air for 30 seconds. it will tone your lower belly and work your lower abs. it hurts im not going to lie but if you stick to it yo will be satisfied. good luck.

  8. QUESTION:
Whats a good workout to lose belly fat ?
Is going for a run better than doing weights as i want to lose fat around the belly and bulk up the torso.

    • ANSWER:
You don't start burning fat until you've done at least 20mins of cardio, so definately try to go some running/jogging!

If you can, do something like 1min40sec of jog, then 1min40sec of a sprint as this is v.good for fat burning too.

Once you've done this, you'll start burning fat and increase your metabolism - you'll burn off everything easier. So I'd advise doing cardio first, then do some stomach exercises (sit ups etc) and then your weights.

      Good luck x

  9. QUESTION:
How to lose belly fat without losing breasts?
After years of being slightly underweight, I've finally put on 20 lbs. Unfortunately, I earned the extra weight through a steady collegiate diet of beer and pizza. I've never had breasts before (they're now a B) but I love them, as well as my new hips.

It's just that I can't STAND my "beer belly". I've cut down dramatically on drinking and fast food, but I think I'll need more than just a diet change to get rid of the belly fat.

I've heard that spot training doesn't really work, but does anyone know if there is some way to lose belly fat without losing my new curves?

    • ANSWER:
unfortunately, fat distribution is automatically done by the body.. there isn't a way to keep good fat (breasts) and lose the bad fat (stomach). but, what i'd offer up is this. love who you are... no matter what shape your breasts are or your new curves... be fit. exercise and keep a good attitude towards whatever you have going in your life...

  10. QUESTION:
How can a teenage girl lose belly fat?
I just noticed my belly fat this year. I have made numerous changes to try and lose my "muffin top" for about a month now, but it is just not working. I have eliminated unhealthy foods such as pastries and oils from my diet, and am carefully watching my calorie and fat intake. I have also been jogging most days of the week for about half an hour, sometimes even longer if I have time. Do you have any suggestions on how I can successfully lose stomach fat as quickly as possible?

    • ANSWER:
      1) cut sugar and carbs. It is even worst than meat/oil because you don't get full from eating sugary food/drinks

      2) It doesn't matter how long you jog. It is the intensity that count. You need to measure your heart rate and make sure you pushed yourself into fat losing zone.

the best exercise for weight loss is crossfit, it is kind of like P40x, but much more hardcore

What is the best exercise to lose belly fat?
After having kids and not exercising enough I've accumulated alot of belly fat in the past few years. I'm done with taking these pills that make my heart race and I've tried situps, crunches and ab rollers. What is actually the best exercise to lose belly fat fast?

    • ANSWER:
I hear ya. Many women after having kids or simply not exercising enough develop extra belly fat in their adbominal region and it seems that if pills, ab machines and fad diets actually worked then we would all do the one thing that worked and have beautiful bodies. The diet industry hasn't been telling you the truth about how to lose belly fat. The answer truly lies with having a program customized and tailored to your body type. It may be too expensive to hire personal trainers and nutritionists so you need a more cost affordable program that you can follow step by step. You also want a program that will help you keep it off for the rest of your life. If this is what you're looking to do then check into this type of program and I wish you well on getting back into shape!

  13. QUESTION:
What is the best way to lose belly fat and tone abs?
Firstly I would like to lose some weights. Im pretty sure that once most of your belly fat is gone, your abs become more visible. Any good strategies to get rid of that belly fat? It would also be great to get fit. I want to do this in about 4 months before my basketball season begins.

    • ANSWER:
You can't spot reduce fat. You have to reduce overall body fat and often the fat around the middle is the last to release. So for your abs to show you have to have a very low percentage of body fat.

I also tell my clients to eat smaller meals more times (5-6) per day. When a body is starved it will store fat. When it believes that times are good (when it's being feed good nutrition often) it will release fat.

I have written a page focusing on a 3 pronged approach dealing with Detoxing, Nutrition and Exercise (especially body weight exercises, which you can do in your home).

  15. QUESTION:
How can you lose belly fat fast for prom?
My prom is in 3 weeks and I need to lose my belly fat/pooch. (ugh) I need a fast, easy, and safe way to lose that.

    • ANSWER:
jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
      1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
      weight, lower for overweight).
      2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
      3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

  16. QUESTION:
Whats the fastest way to lose belly fat at the gym?
Hello, I really want to lose belly fat before summer starts or the start of summer.
I have been doing cardio on the treadmill, Eliptical and lifting weights and ab crunches with weights.
Does anyone have any tips on how can i lose belly fat more effectivelly at the gym?

    • ANSWER:
Exercising your core, like with crunches, hanging leg raises and reverse extensions, will help you LOOK slimmer and help you keep a better posture which really helps with your appearance.

But as far as actually losing belly fat, you can;t spot reduce. You have to lose fat in general and some of that fat will come off your belly.

To lose fat, you want a combination of aerobic (elliptical, treadmill, etc) and weight lifting. When you increase muscle mass, especially in your legs, you increase your metabolism because muscle burns calories even when you aren't active.

If you are concerned about losing some in the chest while losing weight,, you might want to do a lot of chest exercises like flies and presses.

The rule of thumb in Weight lifting is that if you want to build mass, you want to have the weight high enough that you can only do 8 or 12 reps ( 3 sets each, approx)
If you just want to tone, have the weight light enough that you can do more than 12, but not more than 20.

  18. QUESTION:
How to lose belly fat and gain muscle?
How can I lose 15 pounds of belly fat. After that gain mucsle mostly in my biceps and triceps. Also how long would it take? I want to lose the bell fat and gain the muscle in 2 months. Is that possible?
I dont have any machinery but i have weights, push up bars, and jump rope
I need to lose belly fat yes but Im normal weight so what should i do?

    • ANSWER:
Generally you can lose 1-2 lbs of bodyfat per week depending on how strict you are with your exercise and diet program. So in two months you could potentially lose up to 16 lbs. Gaining of muscle is different for everyone. Just be consistent with your workouts and you will see the results. I would suggest participating in cardio exercises 4-5 times per week and make sure to work those biceps and triceps, but don't neglect your other muscles. You still want a balanced workout! As for diet, the biggest suggestion is to eat many times throughout the day and always eat protein with every meal. This will help to maintain and build muscle.

  19. QUESTION:
How to lose belly fat or lose weight? please share some tips and suggestions?
Please share some suggestions and tips to lose belly fat or lose weight. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
This is my theory and this is what works for me. Everyone is different so it may need to be adjusted to your own personal needs.

      Energy In/Energy Out

      Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

      One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

      1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

I, myself, have done this recently. Two weeks later, I lost one pant size and 10 pounds. And that is just my current progress. I have used this method previously after childbirth and have gone from 168 to 127 pounds with in two months.

I personally burn 1,000 calories by Walking in my community for one hour in the morning and I also burn 1,000 calories by simply using a stationary bike while playing xbox. I get so involved in playing xbox that I completely forget I am pedaling or working out. Think about it..How many hours have you spent playing video games..why not burn calories while you are doing it.

      ___

      Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

      ____

      Good Food

      My favorite things to eat:

      Avocado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

      Lean Cuisines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

It’s all about the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..If you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...that’s okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

      Fruits and Veggies

All you want on the schedule listed below.
Bananas are my favorite. They are very filling and can make a meal all on their own.

      ____

      Vitamins

My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realize is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

      _____

      Soda/Carbonation

Carbonation is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbonated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffeine in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories. Of what??? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

      ____

      Your Body

Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. Now it knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

      ____

      Walking Buddy

This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

    • ANSWER:
I came across a post on this site which is titled Exercises to Lose belly fat, it will tell you you need a combination of good eating and working out, so it looks like you are doing the working out bit. I'm not much of a dieter myself. But here are a few tips you might want to consider.

Make sure you eat/drink at least 20-30g of protein after a workout, this will make sure that your appetite is curbed and that you will receive the benefits of the work out.

More specifically on abs, because you can't spot target fat, doing lots of ab exercises won't help you lose the fat, doing chest and upper body exercises will require core strength but cardio exercises will actually see the bit of belly fat go away.

This site should be able to help you more

  21. QUESTION:
What is the easiest way to lose belly fat?
Im on a weight loss diet and im trying to lose my belly. Which foods cause belly fat?

    • ANSWER:
Nina unfortunately there is no "easy" way.
We lose fat over all of the body with a healthy diet and exercise.
We cannot target weight loss or fat burn in any specific area. We can only target muscle growth by choosing the weight lifting exercises for a specific muscle or muscle group.
Most fat loss occurs in the face and fingers first.
God played some kind of joke on us to make the dreaded belly fat the last to be lost.
All you can do is stay on a clean diet of healthy foods and get as much exercise as possible.
Anybody that tells you otherwise is just trying to sell you a magic potion, pill, diet book, dvd set, or piece of junk exercise equipment.

  22. QUESTION:
What are some easy ways to lose belly fat?
I'm 4'8, weigh 110 pounds, and i'm 11. I need help to lose belly fat. I go to school from 8am-3pm. I ride the bus and usually get home at about 4-4:30. All i'm asking for are some simple ways to lose belly fat sorta fast. Also, i want to know how much i should weigh. All answers are appreciated! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
There is no EASY way to lose belly fat, but there are ways to do it.

Unfortunately, you cant do excersises to target a certain area of fat, so dont listen to people that say "sit ups". Yes, they may help, but it wont be the only thing you need to do.

First of all, you are 11 and you really shouldnt worry about this, but considering that you are, you could do a few thigns...

      1) BE ACTIVE. This doesnt mean join a gym (you are 11) but go outside, run around, play sports, climb on a jungle gym...kids stuff

      2) Easy on the candy and desserts. Maybe dont eat desserts for every meal or anything (not saying that you were, just I know what I did when I was a kid). Avoid eating candy when you are bored.

      3) DONT WORRY ABOUT IT. The more you think about it, the more you are going to worry about it and the more likely you are to do something stupid about it. You are a kid, enjoy life! Dont worry about your appearance right now because I promise you wont look a thing like you do now come 10 years from now.

You are 11 and you need to stop worrying. Enjoy being a kid and watching Nickelodeon (even though my generation had better shows haha jk).

  24. QUESTION:
How can I lose belly fat fast and maintain a good healthy diet?
I am 13 and i really want to lose belly fat.
I also want to maintain a good healthy weight.
I want to eat healthy but am not sure of what types of foods would be helpful.
    Thanks- In advance

    • ANSWER:
Simple. Just exercise more and eat less (and healthier). Try to only eat when you’re hungry and eat smaller portions (like instead of eating a whole bag of chips, eat a small bowl and savor it). Don't eat just because you’re bored and don't eat in front of the computer or TV. Make healthier meals with lots vegetables and full grains. Drink skim milk at dinner but drink water the rest of the day. You can still enjoy a few cookies or a bowl of ice cream, just don't overdo it.

For exercise, make it a goal to do something physical every day. You could take the dog for a walk, go biking, go for a jog, swim a few laps, do some hard yard work, go for a hike, do some sit ups and pushups, try yoga, or watch a workout video! Don't make up complicated routines or anything; you’re less likely to keep up. It's okay if you miss a day or two; just make sure you start back up again the next day.

Also, don't forget to take a multivitamin and get enough sleep! Good luck, you can do it! :)

How do you lose belly fat but not waist size?
Hello! I am wondering - my bust/waist/hip measurements are in line with what I want, but I want to lose the fat below where I measure my waist. I know spot training is impossible, but how is it possible to lose belly fat and keep your curves? Currently, I'm eating well and doing aerobic workouts.

    • ANSWER:
I have this problem too. I think the key is lots of cardio to burn off the fat and I notice when I eat less carbs my stomach flattens more.

I really don't think that you will be able to keep the measurement though because as soon as the fat melts off your waist will be naturally smaller. But that isn't necessarily a negative thing!

  32. QUESTION:
How can I lose belly fat and tone my stomach?
I'm 19 years old and I have this stubborn belly fat on my stomach that I have tried to lose for years. What's the fastest way that I can lose it?

How do I lose belly fat in one month?
I don't know if it's big or not, but I think it's pretty huge for a 13 year old girl. I guess a better question would be how to lose belly fat without dieting. My mother has something against it. Maybe it's because healthy foods cost a lot. Also what are some exercises that strongly encourage losing belly fat.
I forgot to ask this before but, how can I stop having so many cravings and how can I stop overeating?

    • ANSWER:
Here's how to lose weight effectively, SAFELY and healthily.

Run about 4-5 miles everyday :)
Make sure you have the right shoes. Spikes or Reebok RunTone running shoes should help (:
I got mine a month ago and since I had them, I've been running 5 miles everyday and so far these are my results:
      - Lost about 10 pounds of fat. (I can practically see my abs)
      - I feel stronger
      - I'm a lot less tired in the morning.
      - I love my muscled legs right now. Well, they we're already muscled since I'm naturally really big-boned but now they're more muscled. So, running helps alot :)

      - Gained 13 pounds of muscle (This is different for everyone depending on the type of body you have. I'm really big-boned, I have a body that's 72% muscle and I'm a mesomorph and a endomorph)

Also, you can eat almost anything as long as it's not too fattening.
I eat a huge bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the morning and about 2 hours before I go to sleep.
During the day I just eat a regular meal. Then go jogging for 30 minutes.

Also try eating every three hours. When you learn to eat every 3 hours, you'll gain control over your blood sugar, which will help you put control of your appetite. When you control your appetite, you control your weight. When you control your weight, you'll feel so much more energized and confident. Your self-esteem will go through the roof. You'll enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror and appreciating all the hard work you've done. You'll feel so good about yourself so healthy and fit, that nothing will stand in your way.

      This is my diet:

      Meal 1 @ 8 am : Breakfast (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
      Meal 2 @ 11 pm: Snack (100 calories)
Meal 3 @ 2 pm: Lunch (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
      Meal 4 @ 5 pm: Snack (100 calories)
Meal 5 @ 8 pm: Dinner (400 calories of balanced nutrients)
      Meal 6 @ 9 pm: Treat (60 calories)

Believe it or not, this is all coming from a FULLY-OVER DEVELOPED, 120 pounds, 12 year old.
I know all this thanks to Jorge Cruise. Today he's recognized as America's #1 weight-loss expert because he makes weight loss easy. He's been featured on VH1, THE TYRA BANKS SHOW, OPRAH AND CNN and is the exclusive diet coach for AOL.

  38. QUESTION:
What would be the best way to lose belly fat & love handles fast?
I want to be in better shape by the time summer rolls around. I have a little bit of belly fat and love handles, and even some inner thigh fat. Can anyone tell me the best way to lose that fast without involving any diet pills or anything like that. I want pure exercise, I want to lose at least 10 to 15 pounds in around six weeks. Please, let me know if you have an exercise plan or tips at least, to help me achieve this.

    • ANSWER:
The best exercise to help tone the love handles are side bends. These place direct stress on the external oblique muscles forcing them to tone and shape up. Side bends are done by standing straight with knees slightly bent and feet apart, then slowly lower the trunk a few inches to the left side then back again to do the right side. Try to keep the body and legs in line by not bending forwards or backwards.

Another great exercise to lose love handles is torso twists. The abdominals are composed of 3 layers of muscles which slide over each other, torso twists help tone the transverse abdominis muscle tightening the love handles. While standing firmly with feet shoulder width apart, the torso twists gently to the left side then to the right while at the same time trying to limit the movement from the hips. During the movements the torso should always remain upright, there should be no bending involved. Care should also be taken not to twist too far as its easy to pull a muscle when exercising the love handles!

  40. QUESTION:
How to lose belly fat until your abs show?
I go to the gym and work out 3 times a week. I have good biceps and everything..but i have a bit of belly fat. I can feel my abs when flexing, but they don't show out. What can I do in order to lose that fat that is on top of the abs, until all you can see are the abs, so when feeling its only the abs as the first layer and not fat.

    • ANSWER:
      You don't mention your age...

You cannot only lose fat in certain parts of your body. Only an overall reduction in fat stores will make your abdominal muscles more visible. Which means, you should lose weight, IF, you really want to see those muscles.

Increasing muscle mass can help - because muscle is metabolic tissue (muscle burns calories), so the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn.

Look at your parents and keep in mind, there's only so much you can do. We all inherit our physicality from our parents, so keep in mind that is one aspect of how we look that you can only work around so much. And keep in mind, that we need (and it's normal) to have fat stores in our bodies. Everybody these days is abs-crazy, but if it's important to you, then you'll have to reduce your overall weight.

      1. Lie down on the floor on your back and bend your knees, placing your hands behind your head or across your chest.
      2. Pull your belly button towards your spine, and flatten your lower back against the floor.
      3. Slowly contract your abdominals, bringing your shoulder blades about one or two inches off the floor.
      4. Exhale as you come up and keep your neck straight, chin up.
      5. Hold at the top of the movement for a few seconds, breathing continuously.
      6. Slowly lower back down, but don't relax all the way.
      7. Repeat for 15 to 20 repetitions with perfect form for each rep.

Using an exercise ball should increase the fat loss even more, but don't strain your back.

    • ANSWER:
There's two parts to this (as there is to just about any fat loss):
      - diet
      - exercise

You can't "target" weight loss to a specific area of your body. When you diet and exercise, you are training your entire body.

Here's the diet side: The goal is to burn more calories than you take in during the day. But it goes beyond just burning calories. You must take in the proper amounts of foods (which includes some "good fats"). If you already have a healthy diet then you may want to try eating less food per sitting and eating more times per day. This should help your metabolism speed up, thus burning more calories.

Now the exercise side: As I mentioned, you can't target a section of your body to lose fat. If you wanted to build muscle, you would then target those areas. Since that's not your goal, just keep up with a moderate amount of cardio (treadmill, running, biking, etc.). Don't get your heart rate too high, you'll move out of the "fat burning zone" into the "cardio building zone". Make sure you do this at least 3 to 5 times per week for an hour each.

You should start to see the fat drop and your belly will get flatter. Good luck.

  47. QUESTION:
What is the best way for a female to lose belly fat?
I want to lose my gross, jiggly belly fat, and want to have a more flat, toned tummy by the time summer comes around. I have heard quite a few controversies on just doing crunches.

Also, I have a little fat around the torso area, right under my chest. It is not that much, but I was wondering if there was any good way to get rid of that as well.

    • ANSWER:
One aspect you did not bring up in question was your personal work out and diet plan. Are you eating healthy and following good workout routine? If the answer to both is "yes" then one alternative may be plastic surgery. If surgery is the option you and your doctor feel is the best course of action there are two good options.
The first option is smart lipo which is a less invasive form of liposuction that has less swelling than liposuction as well .This option generally costs between 00-00.
The second option is a tummy tuck. However, these generally are recommended for women after child birth that have some excess skin. In the tummy tuck excess skin and fat are removed and the muscles are tighten to provide a flat stomach. These generally cost between 00-00.

      I hope this helped!!

  49. QUESTION:
What is the best and fastest way to lose belly fat?
I want to help someone out but I don't want to give her the wrong advice, I am trying to help my bestfriend lose 50 pounds safely, the fat is mostly on her arms and belly.

    • ANSWER:
      Step 1

Training: 1% of your overall ab development will actually come from training. Consider the fact that most people think 90% of your results come from training, you can see this isn't the popular consensus. Needless to say, that's where most focus their efforts. They don't get their nutrition in order, they don't use cardio effectively so the masses just do more ab training and more crunches. Ultimately for your abs to show you must have abs to show and a low percentage of body fat for them to appear. More training does nothing to eliminate the layer of fat that is covering them. This is commonly know as spot reduction. Training an area for the sole purpose of eliminating fat in that area.

Tip - Do not make training the #1 priority to show off those abs. Train them like any other muscle. More ab work will not make your abs appear. Focus on lowering your body fat levels and not spot reduction.

      Step 2:

Cardio: 9% of your effort can be directed as using cardio as a fat burning tool. High intensity interval training is by far the fastest and most efficient method you can use to shed the pounds. You'll want to keep in mind, using cardio is a tool. Not a foundation. This simply means that doing marathon sessions will not be to your advantage. Learn to use cardio effectively and you can enhance and boost your metabolism beyond what even eating the right foods can do. Some competitive bodybuilders use cardio up to twice a day for 30 days to just chisel off that last remaining layer of fat that's cover up the abdominal region.

Tip - Cardio can be done twice a day for a full body shock! Just keep in mind this method is a short term tool and not a routine you would use for any length of time.

  50. QUESTION:
How to get bigger biceps and lose belly fat?
Hi, how do i get like bigger arms? I do like 15 chin ups, 30 push ups and 60 sit ups. Will i lose my belly fat and gain bigger biceps by continuing this? And I am planning to eat right and do all that stuff. Jog, run etc. And no pills...

    • ANSWER:
Forget about sit ups first of all. They are bad for your neck and lower back, and aren't even that good at building muscle. Crunches and planks are much better. All the ab exercises in the world, however, will NOT make you lose belly fat. There's no such thing as targeted fat loss, it's simply not possible without liposuction. To lose that belly fat you need to start eating right (at least 5-6 small meals or healthy snacks through the day) and do more cardio. The more cardio you do the quicker you'll be able to burn off excess fat, but more cardio also means you won't build up muscle as fast.

How often are you doing your 15 chin ups and 30 push ups? Those two exercises alone won't do much at all for you. The only way to really make progress and get bigger muscles is to put together a much more complex routine that will hit all of your muscle groups. Never work the same muscles 2 days in a row though (including your abs) because all muscles require at least 48-72 hours to rest and repair after a workout. Try to put together a routine with about 6-9 different exercises each day.

Even if you only care about your biceps looking bigger, you still don't work them every day. Working the same muscles too often without giving them the proper time (and protein) they need to repair, you can actually LOSE muscle mass, and become weaker. Also, as weird as it sounds, if you want your biceps to look bigger, work harder on your TRICEPS. Your triceps make up 2/3rds of your upper arm muscle, whereas the biceps only make up about 1/3rd. Having bigger triceps will really make your biceps look a lot more full. Chin ups work your back and biceps, push ups work your chest and triceps. While you can still do those (and should), you should add several other exercises to your routine as well. One day you could do a few sets of chin ups, then a few sets of straight barbell curls, followed by a few sets of dumbell curls maybe. Then the next day do your push ups, followed by 3 sets of dips (as many as you can do each set with 2 minutes rest in between each set), then a few sets of dumbell overhead raises (the biggest weight you can use to get 3 sets of 8-12 reps with perfect form).

There are many other exercises and variations you can, and should, add to your routine. But if you do at the very _LEAST_ what I mentioned above, no more than once or twice a week to allow time for your muscles to heal, you should start to see results in as little is 6 or 8 weeks.
