Learn The Fast Way To Lose Weight

Liquid Diet Weight Loss

Liquid diet weight loss is such a diet plan that encourages liquid meals instead of eating solid food. Like some other diet programs, its weight loss ability dwells on caloric lowering rules. Therefore most of the liquid diets are usually low in calories and high in lean protein for energy. In this type of diet, fruits and vegetable juice are highly recommended as they serve as healthy sources of vitamins. Taking green tea can make metabolism run fat and make you shed more fat.

Studies have shown that liquid diet weight loss can be harmful as they do not contain a well balanced nutrient body needs for its daily function. An ideal liquid diet will only give about 36 percent of the recommended daily fibre, 18 of 23 amino acids with vitamins and minerals not sufficiently supplied as required by the body for sustaining good health. This is the more reason it can not sustain healthy lifestyle for long term.

This type of diet plan should not last more than a week. Lunching two weeks weight loss campaign with this diet plan, you can imagine the hell you body will pass though. Don't forget your goal is to look fit and have vibrant health. Extending this weight loss plan beyond one week will be marred by series of health related problems.

However, if you want to be on this diet plan for long. Swapping solid and healthy food with liquid diet in between is encouraged for healthy lifestyle sustenance. This healthy food will help maintain proper level of vitamins and minerals. This will keep your body healthy while still on this diet.

Liquid diets do not supply enough energy that can sustain body during physical exercises, hence this plan can not be combined with exercise.

Health Consequences of Liquid Diet

A lot of health related problems have been reported in the diet plan. Although liquid diet weight loss plan is a fix through diet solution, cardiac arrhythmias has been observed in some patients placed on some liquid protein diets. Prolonged use of liquid diets has triggered muscle cramps, anaemia, dizziness, menstrual abnormality and constipation.

Safety

Safety in this diet plan is largely dependent on the duration of the program. Prolonged use of liquid diets is not good and safe as it will trigger off some health problems that undermine this weight loss diet plan. Short term use can be safe. Be as it may, if you ever wanted to embark on this program, you need your doctor' professional expertise to guide you during the course of program for a successful weight loss program.

  2. QUESTION:
Has anyone tried a full liquid diet for weight loss?
What sort of things did you drink and how much weight did you lose?

    • ANSWER:
Personally I haven't tried this, but I've heard some really bad things about this one.

The bad thing about these kinds of diets is that your body doesn't get enough nutrients to make sure that it runs smoothly and efficiently.

I know that this sounds like loads of BS, but apart from water you also need proteins to make sure that you don't lose your lean muscle mass, you need fats to make sure that your cell and hormonal production runs smoothly and you need complex carbohydrates to make sure that you have enough energy.

I know that you're looking for a specific answer about these liquid diets, but from my experience I would recommend to literally focus on the reduction of both caloric and simple carbohydrate intake.

One move step at a time, don't look for shortcuts, do your cardio and baby - you'll get the body you want :)

  3. QUESTION:
    liquid fasting/diet weight loss?
I already know it isn't that healthy, so don't tell me that, i am simply asking for some answers. so if you are against this, don't post an answer because this is my body and you don't make the ultimate decision. how ever my question is how much weight can i lose on a 30 liquid fast? I have already lost 20 pounds with exercise and healthy diet and i have 23 pounds left to lose. summer will be here in 69 days and i want to get down to my original weight 115. i am 5'3, and i have a small frame and that is the weight i feel comfortable at. my liquid fast will be mostly of water, and home made juice containing fruits and vegetables. i am considering going on this fast for 30 days then slowly ease my way back into eating healthy foods. i assume i have lost all of my water weight, so how many pounds do you think i will lose in that month? im the type of person that will maintain my weight loss once it is gone so i don't want to hear about gaining it back.

    • ANSWER:
Water is a VERY good tool to use when trying to lose weight.

Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.

Drink a glass of water before you start the meal. Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.

Have another glass of water while you are having the meal. Again this is another way of making yourself full so that you can actually rise from the table eating less but feeling full just the same. Instead of drinking it one gulp, take sips after each morsel. It will help the food to settle faster so that you get that feeling that you are full faster.

Water is such a remarkable thing, but seldom do we give it the credit that it deserves. Did you know that over 66% of your body weight is nothing but water’ It’s amazing! Water also plays a vital role in weight control, which is why I donated so much space to it, above.

Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks, especially sodas. All those colas and fizzy drinks are sweetened with sugar and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out on these sweetened bottle drinks, the better for you. So if you must drink sodas, then stick to diet sodas.

Include in your diet things that contain more water like tomatoes and watermelons. These things contain 90 to 95 % water so that there is nothing that you have to lose by feasting on them. They fill you up without adding to the pounds.

  4. QUESTION:
has anyone tried a full liquid diet for weight loss?
I have over 100 pounds to lose and I was wondering if anyone has tried a full liquid diet
such as protein shakes and maybe a sensible dinner
if you have tell me about it , how long did you do it ? how much did you lose ? how did you feel?
    thanks

    • ANSWER:
A liquid diet will work if done under a doctor's supervision. Skip the diet pills and colon cleanses, they don't' help and can do more harm than good. To lose as much weight as you want, I suggest seeing a doctor first and see if they can give you a sensible diet. The doctor may recommend that you see a nutritionist. They can be a great help.

    • ANSWER:

  7. QUESTION:
Liquid diet for fast weight loss?
Does anyone know of or ever tried any type of a liquid diet for a few days to lose a few pounds fast? I don't want anything that I have to buy in a store - just something I can do at home with water/lemon or whatever. If you have done it, how much weight have you lost? What amount of time?

    • ANSWER:
Just drink more water. Before meals. You will be less hungry. Your stomach is full of water.(no calories)..
Stop snacking between meals(drink more water), avoid foods that have fat in them (due to cooking methods or as an ingredient(palm OIL) is a fat. Or sugar or additional salt. Potato chips are cooked in oil, as are french fries.
And be active when you can. Do situps (or cleanup)between commercials while watching TV instead of just sitting there or raiding the fridge. Get off the computer games and get physical.

This is stuff you can stick to.

  8. QUESTION:
    Liquid diet for weight loss?
As 5000% of America is looking to do, I would like to lose weight fast. Of course, I don't mean 100 pounds in a week. Maybe 10 or 15 pounds within a couple of weeks.

"No! Liquid diets are NOT healthy! Stay away - they'll bite you." Well, duh, I sort of know this. "Then why are you doing it?" Because it will help me. I won't do it consistently - for I have a 5 day weekend coming up, and I want to see if I can do it for 5 days and just you know, eat little solids and more liquids after that to stay consistent.

"Eat small meals and exercise regularly. That's all you need. Liquid diets rip off your head and kill you." I know. Let me tell you my exercise schedule to keep you informed. I joined lacrosse. That gives me an hour of exercise about 3 - 5 times a week. This hasn't been enough. I'm around 10 to 20 pounds overweight, and I'm extremely dissatisfied.

So I just wish to know how long I should do it and what I should drink. And what exercises shall help - crunches (how many?)

    • ANSWER:
speiss9, you will probably lose weight through liquid diet. However, have you ever consider that whether this is an approach for long term result?

Personally, I do not think that the liquid diet can provide long term effect because you are taking extremely low calorie diet now. After you lose 10-20lbs, and change back to your normal daily diet, you will gain weight again. Therefore, this is not a long term solution (unless you are going to drink shakes for your whole life).

I would recommend you to seek dieting as a long term commitment instead of taking such extreme diet that will not provide any long term effect.

There are many diets that ensure long term weight loss effect. And the foods are not bad, and the nutritions are very balanced. Personally, I have tried a diet called Calorie Shifting, that aims to improve my metabolic rate. I have followed a free 7 days diet plan and managed to lose 3lbs during the plan. I find that sticking to a more normal and acceptable diet will yield better effect in the future instead of just few lbs within few days.

For exercises, cardio exercises and mild exercises like jogging or even walking are very effective. Just try to do it everyday for at least 30minutes, combining with a balanced diet, you can definitely lose weight.

Along with this answer, is the link to the free 7 days diet plan. Hope that this helps.

  9. QUESTION:
Liquid Diets = Weight Loss + Better Digestion?
    Hello :)

I have recently become concerned with my weight. I am 5"7 and weigh 10 stone. My BMI is 21.7.

The main thing I dislike is the weight around my middle and I feel it is visable under t-shirts etc.

I'd like a toned body (wouldn't we all!)

I thought I'd try out a liquid diet. My plan is try only consume things that are liquid but not cut back on calories or nutrients. My idea is to have smoothies, plenty of water, milkshakes, vegetable juice.

I am also going to be doing daily 5min ab workouts.

I want to know if this will help me lose a little weight and improve digestion

I also thought it may give me more energy throughout the day as my body wont have to be digesting food.

Does this sound like a sensible idea as I want to feel healthy and lose a little weight?

Also should I steer clear of all solid foods or slowly decrease amount and have say one meal a day until I reach my goal of 9 stone

Thanks if you've managed to read all of this, please let me know your thoughts,

    Have a good day

    • ANSWER:
calories solid or liquid are still calories
one of the main things doctors tell you if you are overweight is "don't drink your calories"
although if you take in the exact amount of calories as solid when you switch to liquid the only change is not necessarily weight loss or better digestion but running to the bathroom
our bodies are meant to "break down" what we eat not just let it slide out
but if you temporarily consumed a liquid diet that was healthy and it was less calories than your normal intake with a bit of exercise you would lose weight but that would work, liquid or solid
      Good luck

Ideas for a liquid diet (NOT for weight loss!)?
Due to my stomach not working correctly, I am currently on a liquid diet (recommended by doctor - not by choice!) I wondered if anyone had any ideas, suggestions or experiences which would liven up my diet a little. I am vegetarian and cannot handle any fruits, except orange juice. I currently take several Ensure Plus drinks per day and would really appreciate something a little more tasty to look forward to! Please note; I do not want to lose weight, quite the opposite in fact, so please, no weight loss tips!

  12. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever tried a liquid diet only for weight loss?

  13. QUESTION:
Starvation/liquid diet and permanent weight loss?
I am considering going on a diet consisting of coffee and water for a few days or weeks to see if I can knock off a few pounds.
I have been on Atkins for about 6 months and have managed to come within 10 lbs. of my desired weight but now I have stopped losing. I don't care if my body thinks I am at my "natural weight" I want to be my optimal weight.
So my question is if I go on a liquid diet a.) Will I lose the weight? b.) well I be able to keep the weight off?
I do not eat any sugar or refined carbs.
Any information and/or opinions would be helpful.

    • ANSWER:
      In general...NO!

Liquid diets are very short term. I've tried them and always gain abck the weight. As soon as you go back to regular food the weight piles bakc on because your body went into starvation mode.

After a while you lose weight and your body gets "used" to routine. Change up your diet. but do not go into these starvation diets they result will leave much to be desired.

Cutting down and sugar and carbs as you had is good. (EVen though there is health in carbs just you know cut down as you have) Try a new diet. Switching things up will help.

coffee and water will do one things for you...Screw your body up. You've been doing a really great job on Atkins, don't mess that up.

EXERCISE. What have you been doing so far? Seriously exercising getting some cardio will help bump some weight off. Investing in a dumbbell maybe 10 or 20 pounds will work wonders. It wont bulk you up like many women believe it will help you shed fat. and you don't need to lift like crazy. Just 2 reps of 15 or 20 is enough to get you going.

You can even just dance for a half hour or more and it'll help. Get your body moving doing whatever you like. In a sense you can eat whatever you want as long as you burn more calories than you take in. Eat clean foods which means no processed food. Eve stick to Atkins and up your exercise. I hope this helps.

Just please don't give up and forget the starvation/liquid junk. but if you really must go the detox route do it the right way. You can drink fruit juices (organic) for a day and it helps your body shed. Trying a cleanse may also help. Never exceed more than a day or two on these diets. Cleaning your colon helps a ton and gets rid of junk. That may be all you need.

You could also go vegan for a while. There's a 21 day diet I believe that has worked for a friend of mine.

  14. QUESTION:
    Liquid Diet?
Anyone ever tried a full or clear liquid diet for weight loss? What kind of results did you get and how quickly did you lose? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I'm 5'9 and when I started my liquid diet I weighed 202 pounds. I was skeptical at first but spoke with a doctor and decided to give it a go. I had very high blood pressure and was simply uncomfortable in my rather large body. I now weigh in at a much healthier 175 pounds. I have been back on solid foods for 3 months and have maitained quite nicely. You simply must do this correctly.
The diet plan that I was on is called Medifast. The way it works is you can either have nothing but Medifast Shakes mixed w/ one cup of water up to six times a day( they have an assortment of flavours ) OR you can start out having one very sensible meal a day and up to 5 shakes.
For the first month(in which I lost 26 lbs.)I had nothing but the shakes, water and sugarfree lemonade. Also, I did no exercise aside from what you would get just going about your day.
The second month I integrated some Medifast Brand soups & crackers as well as oatmeal, etc. and a couple weeks later I began having my one meal per day. The Medifast people call this meal 'Lean & Green'. It should consist of a small piece of fish, chicken breast or very lean cuts of beef or pork and a sensibly sized serving of a green vegetable such as steamed broccolli, green beans or any variety of salad greens.(Just be careful with the dressings) I dressed my salads with a very small drizzle of olive oil, red wine vinegar and Lawry's garlic salt. Quite tasty. On occasion I did use store bought dressings but they should be very low in fat & calories.
I now eat that same diet (and if I get hungry, I have a shake which is filled with vitamins, minerals and lots of fiber. The fiber helps you to feel satiated and prevents any...well... unpleasant trips to the restroom.) but have added a couple snacks throughout the day. Usually I will have some Healthy Choice Soup, a salad, carrot or celery sticks. Sometimes, sliced apple with a bit of peanut butter on it. From the apple you are getting fiber, good calories and the protein in the peanut butter helps you to feel full longer. I'm never hungry. It's great!
My wife did the same diet and has lost 45 lbs. and has maintained her weight along with me for 7 months now. It really helps, especially at the beginning, to have a partner for support. But now we both feel so good(blood pressure has been normal for 6 months and now we exercise a little too!) that we no longer need any support group.
I highly recommend that you completely research this program and discuss it with your physician before embarking on a diet as extreme as this.
For more information on this topic see link below.
I hope that I've taken away some of the doubt that other 'answerers' may have instilled in you and hopefully have motivated you as well.
Oh, the shakes, soups, oatmeal, crackers, etc. seem a little pricey but we have found that we actually saved money while on this diet. One just doesn't realize how much we spend on groceries and eating out until you try this.

I know that this has been rather lengthy but I just hope that it's been helpful as well. Good luck in the case you decide to give this a go!

  15. QUESTION:
quick weight loss? is the liquid diet the best option?
Firstly, I don't want a load of abuse and "it's not healthy" I'm not an idiot and will only be doing this short term to lose weight I have put on very quickly.

I just want some advise. I want to do a "liquid diet" for about 1 week to 2 weeks to get my body used to not eating as much. I intended to just drink water and sugar free juice and eat 10 calorie soups. Is there any tips people could give me? is this the quickest way to lose weight? How much could I expect to lose?

    • ANSWER:

  16. QUESTION:
Do liquid diets usually promote quick weight loss?
I am considering doing an all liquid diet. Does anyone have any ideas or tips.

    • ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

  17. QUESTION:
Is this a good diet for weight loss ?
I was thinking on embarking on my own diet challenge. I was thinking maybe like Carnation Breakfast Essential in the morning. Like an Ensure for lunch . Granola bars in between workouts. And a solid meal for dinner . But like an early dinner. Like 5 ish. Basically its a 2/3rds liquid diet. Any thoughts ?

      yes

  18. QUESTION:
If an all-liquid diet is necessary, not for weight loss, ideas?
    Hi
Due to a car accident, our child is on an all liquid diet. We could use ideas, other than what the doc gave us. We have learned how to freeze some things, like vegetable juice and then he drinks it through a straw, or eats it in small frozen pieces, small enough to get through his mouthwires. Jaw is wired shut. In the hospital, he had nutrition through feeding tubes. Please give ideas for a balanced diet! Also, we are having trouble getting enough calories into him. I'm scared. He has to do this for 4 weeks! The docs say he won't starve. I'm not so sure!

    • ANSWER:
Fruit smoothies are good- use a lot of yogurt/milk to make it thin enough to drink through a straw.
Vegetable broth is also good. You can also puree soups with chicken and veggies.

  19. QUESTION:
I have a friend who is about to start a liquid diet. How can she prevent loose skin during her weight loss?
She's a close friend of mine and I'm overweight as well so I'm asking for both our benefits. I know loose skin is inevitable, especially since she's doing the liquid diet. But is there a good way to reduce the effects during weight loss and is it permanent? I read somewhere that you could end up with loose skin, but with time and exercise it will eventually stretch back. We're both 23 years old so we're still young and neither of us have had children yet. Is this true?

    Thanks!
    Dr. Monroe....really? Grow up.

Also, I weigh about 257 and my friend weighs around (my best guess) 320. Her liquid diet is a doctor monitored diet so it is totally legit.

I'm not doing the liquid diet, I'm on a raw foods diet.

    • ANSWER:
Ok, first of all how much do you weigh, and second of all DO YOU REALIZE HOW UNHEALTHY A LIQUID DIET IS? Girl please, diet like the rest of the world and eat well....

Besides, when you starve yourself on a Liquid diet, your body automatically is like, Oh shit! I am obviously in some sort of Nazi camp where I am being starved to death so maybe I should start STORING MY FAT SO I DONT DIE.

You'll only get fatter from this process.

Instead, eat Plenty of protein, Fiber, and drink tons of water.

  20. QUESTION:
Is it possible to go on a all-liquid diet? Will it help you lose weight quickly?
What liquids should I drink? How often should I drink them?
Oh, and I'm NOT going to drink any weird weight-loss supplements.

So, will I lose weight if I just drink water, milk and orange juice?
Will I get hungry if I go on all-liquid diet?

Someone please help me, I need to lose 15 pounds as soon as possible.
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

  25. QUESTION:
Quick way to drop 10 lbs in order to meet weight for military?
I have been debating whether or not i should go to a basically liquid diet to lose the last couple of lbs. and i need to d it by my physical date, I only have abt 10 to lose now. Is a liquid diet, IE weight loss shakes, a good idea? i am thinking about cutting down to two weight loss shakes a day + one snack.

    • ANSWER:
Here is a tips to improve health with weight loss shakes but if you do home made shakes for that..i think it should be better. Here are some basic ingredients to use in your shakes and it will help you to fit your body.
Fruits - these are helpful in getting rid of toxins from the body while providing antioxidants.
Yogurt or low-fat milk - for your dose of vitamin D and calcium.
Protein powder - for easier and faster digestion of your food while keeping you full for longer periods of time.

  26. QUESTION:
does anyone have any opinions about lapband surgery for weight loss?
I'm very overweight and considering the lap band surgery. I have tried just about every diet pill out there. I've tried eating alot, eating nothing.. liquid diets, weight watchers, atkins, l.a. weight loss, and sooooooo many others. My thyroid has been tested, and has nothing wrong with it. SO i'm thinking this MAY be MY solution? Has anyone had it? Or know anyone that's had it? What are your opinions? Thanks!! :)

    • ANSWER:
I personally understand this question and the concerns, and nothing bothers me more than when people tell me i just haven't tried hard enough.
My opinions on the lap-band are this:

You have to be able to continue the diet they give you. It's very easy to eat junk with the lap-band, so people do tend to gain weight again after some years. And I get upset when I hear someone say the lap-band failed the patient. I always think of it more like the patient failed the lap-band.

I personally will have this surgery in the next few months.
There is A LOT of paper work and Dr. appointments and you have to see a nutritionist and a therapist and they will determine if you are right for the lap-band.

      GOOD LUCK!

Losing weight on liquid diet, 10 days (serious answers please)?
Ok first of all I know a liquid diet isn't the right way to go and I should have thought about this the right way etc etc, I understand everyone's concerns and thank you.

I know the results aren't permanent, fine I know, but give me any advice on this please! thank you :)

Losing weight on a liquid diet?
I'm interested in going on a liquid-diet where I am only allowed to eat one small meal a day. I'd be going to the gym for about an hour every other day.

a.) How much weight can I lose in a month?

b.) How much weight can I lose in a week?

The plan is to lose ten to fifteen pounds within a month. Are there specific drinks that I should drink to help me lose more weight?

I know that most people don't suggest it and that the weight will come back immediately after I go back to eating solid foods, but this weight loss is only temporary. I need something that will work fast for my cousins wedding!

    • ANSWER:
Haha, good luck working out on zero energy! Your diet will starve your body. Your body will react by taking every single calorie it can get and turning it into fat - effectively counteracting any progress you make. Do you want to live to see your cousin's wedding? Do you want to have any energy when you're at the wedding? Do you want to be in a good mood and have non-smelly breath at the wedding? If you answered yes to any of these questions, crash diets are not for you.

  30. QUESTION:
Has anyone on here with diabetes lost weight on a liquid diet and kept off the weight?
I had not seen my close friend in about 18 months. She has undergone a drastic change both physically and mentally. She went on a liquid diet and have lost more then 150 lbs. she exercised and ate an extremely low amount of calories. She's a type 2 diabetic. She used herbal supplements from GNC (weight loss), exercised, took vitamins, took metformin (insulin stablizer) and is now pregnant as a resutl Im so proud of her. She said lost 152 lbs in 14 months and is 6 weeks pregnant. Is she in danger of putting the weight back on or can she continue with a low carb diet and still have a healthy baby? Opinions Please.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi ,
I have a big experience of Liquid diets as many years a go i began to starve my self and live on liquid food, soups and pureed foods. They hold less calories as they tend to be veg and fruits.
While yes it is a bonus to loose weight this way , long term the effects can be drastic. And your body also goes in to starvation mode which i did find out about.
I dont have Diabetes but my nan did and i watched her weight go up and down. I have heard the low gi diet is a good one for people with diabetes as it does help curb your cravings. Well it worked for me.
Secondly, i dont know what level of fitness you are but exercise does work. You can eat that extra if you exercise and for every pound of fat that turns to muscle you burn more calories.
If you are oout of shape and find it hard to exercise look out for Callnetics. Callan Pitney. Brilliant . Gentle but effective and does work quick. Ebay sells the dvd for a few quid.
      I do hope this helps.

  34. QUESTION:
Liquid Diet? Are smoothies good to drop some pounds?
How's this for a lunch: Some skim milk, container of yogurt, a banana, a handful of frozen blackberries, and a spoon or two of Soy Ice Cream. Blend it up, and it's very filling. But I'd love to live out of my blender for a month or so, just to tset it for weight loss. Is the LIQUID DIET thing a myth, regarding ease of digestion/weight loss technique? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Smoothies are excellent for meal replacements or snacks but not for your total diet. You will totally wreck your metabolism if you do that. Your body must have the vitamins and minerals and nutrients that it gets in lean protein, veggies, fruit, whole grains, dairy, and heart-healthy oils. You can find some delicious weight loss shake recipes on the page below to make with your home blender.

  35. QUESTION:
Need help with half liquid diet?
SO, my mom has to be on a liquid diet for her weight loss surgery coming up. I've decided to go half do a liquid diet with her. I'm drinking this powder drink in the morning and for lunch, with a solid meal at night. I'm at 1,300 calories per day (The nutritionist told me that was a good amount) I'm getting pleanty of protein.
My question is: How much weight will I lose per month?
Is it ok that i'm doing this?
Will I gain weight by drinking Amp?

I don't see how it can hurt, and I don't think I can gain weight if i'm only eatting 1,300-400 calories.
Amp is NOT an energy drink, its protein. And i'm 5'8 and 240 pounds.

    • ANSWER:
by no means should you even be on a diet unless you need to like she does, there are ways to lose weight and eat what you want to, vie versa.. the media has made our society unbelievably self conscious, just be happy with who you are as everyone has their beautiful qualities, which never match up to personality anyways, lay off the amp, its extremely unhealthy (if its an energy drink like I think)

  36. QUESTION:
Does Liquid Chlorophyll help aid weight loss?
Does Liquid Chlorophyll help aid weight loss?
I was told by a model that liquid chlorophyll helps aid weight loss, among heaps of other great health benefits.

Has anyone had liquid chlorophyll every morning for a while and have experienced any good changes in health and weight (when combined with a healthy diet & exercise of course!)

    • ANSWER:
um..well, It doesn't make any sense to me. Chlorophyll is just the green part of the leaf. It is said that it helps with bad breath, but hello, in this world, what isn't said to help with a negative human aspect? hmph. Well...I mean, it couldn't hurt. I think she means if you replace a meal with it, it'll help you loose weight (Duh, leafy greens have hardly no carbs) How are you going to obtain liquid chlorophyll anyway? Might as well put some lettuce in a blender...mmm..tasty...

don't go by models, remember miss California and the whole "Why don't students know where this spot on a globe is" scenario? Most of those poor girls are brainwashed barbie dolls.

Instead of liquid chrolophyll or something that sounds expensive, buy a bag of spinach or lettuce, it's the same thing with a lot more nutrients. (Celery, on its own, is a negative 2 calorie because it makes your stomach work harder to digest than it did to actually, eat it and get any energy (calories) from it) Don't cut anything out of your diet. Our bodies need fat, protein, carbs, etc. but do cut back on how much you eat. If you learn to count carbs, calories, etc. and how much you SHOULD eat, it'll help 100%!!!Of course exercise helps. (Caffeine is said to increase metabolism, but Idk if this is true)

good luck in whatever you hope to do!!! Remember, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. if drinking liquid chlorophyll really does work, you'll have to do that for a long time to keep the weight off if that's all you do...IF it works..

    C.Weight Watcher

2nd. I weight 244 lbs and i am 6'2 [ive already lost close to 7 lbs in about 2 weeks just watching what im eating and exercising] but i want to loss MORE! By January 15 i would like to have lost 25 - 30 lbs.

    Is this possible?

3rd. Some fast weight loss tips would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
If you want some quick tips, here's one: cut portion sizes. A cup of pasta is two servings. Measure that out: that's a small portion size. When you get nutritional information on packages, it will always tell you serving sizes. Easiest way to count calories is to eat the ACTUAL serving size. As for the options you suggested:

      A) Low carb works, but it's hard to stick with. And if you go too low in carbohydrates your diet is no longer healthy.

      B) All diets involve cutting calories in some way.

      C) Weight watchers programs tend to have lots of support with them, and there are many people that swear by them. Having someone to talk to regularly when you're trying to lose a lot of weight can keep you focused. I don't know about fast, but this so far is your healthiest option.

      D) You're a big person. You still need fuel even when you're losing weight. A liquid diet just is NOT going to give you the fuel your body needs. And once you lose the weight and go back on to real food, you haven't made any changes to your normal eating habits, so the weight will come right back.

  38. QUESTION:
Are all-liquid diets (i.e. green smoothies) a good long-term solution for weight loss?
I have a vitamix and very little time to prepair cook-and-sitdown meals for myself.... I've enjoyed making healthy green smoothies but wonder if it's healthy or not to have EVERY meal blended somehow.

    Liquid diets and weight gain?
About 11 days ago i had 3 teeth pulled. Two left back molars side by side and 1 bottom left wisdom tooth. So there is about a 4 to 6 inch gap in my upper jaw. One tooth had to be broken in pieces in order to be removed. Healing is going well, but there is still a fairly big hole in the top and still a small hole where the wisdom tooth was. I am fanatical about brushing and rinsing after every meal and snack so no food particles with get inside. Up until about 3 days ago i was on a total liquid diet consisting of Special K protein drinks, V8 and broth or cream type soups. I was barely taking in 1000 calories a day. As of this morning i have lost 14 lbs. Which didn't seem so bad considering that i was nearly 25 lbs overweight. But then i keep reading about how sudden weight loss and dramatic drop in calories can almost halt your metabolism, so now i'm a little worried. So i have been trying to incorporate semi solids a little at a time over the past 3 days, gradually adding about 100 extra calories per day. Today it was about 1350. My question is, how many calories do i need to maintain my metabolism without crashing. I also have a fatty liver and i know that sudden weight loss can have adverse reactions with this condition also. So how can i get enough calories when my food choices are so limited. My dentist said it could take up to 3 to 4 weeks to go back to a normal diet. Even then i have to be careful not to get anything hard in the extraction site. That could bean additional 6 to 8 weeks.

  41. QUESTION:
Has anyone tried liquid diets? Is blending your food like a liquid diet?
I know many people have asked this question before. I want to try something similar to a liquid diet. I want to just eat my food in a blended form like fruits and veggies. I'm not looking for a quick fix to weight loss just wanted to try something different.

    • ANSWER:
they are counter productive. liquid calories are digested faster than whole foods so the body spends less energy. they don't keep satisfied as long and tend to cause overeating in many.

  42. QUESTION:
    liquid diet??
like just soups and stuff?? good for weight loss? bad? let me know!

    • ANSWER:
No, it isn't good for you at all! You will lose weight initially, but when you stop the liquids and go back to eating solids, you will gain it all back! Not to mention the risks to your health and body.

The best way to lose weight is to eat whole healthy foods, keep a food journal of everything you eat or drink with the amount of calories, reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories a day (should be 1200 - 1500), and increase your caloric burning by 500 calories a day. You can figure your caloric needs per day by going to http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculator/NU00598 just imput your height, weight, age, and sex and it will tell you how many calories you burn at rest. Using this method you will lose about 2 pounds a week and you will be able to keep that weight off for good!

  43. QUESTION:
it is safe to go on a strict liquid diet and take prenatal vitamins?
i am trying to lose my after birth weight and i seem to be having some trouble dropping the pounds. i mainly need to tone my mid section but high intensity workouts and ab crunches aren't enough. i heard about weight loss with a liquid diet but i need other nutrients with it. Now im not a very big fruit and veggie lover and not really looking to start becoming one. if i only consume 3 cups of coffee, and drink nothing but water, tea, and gatorade all day and possibly comsume one nutrigrain bar. would taking my left over prenatal vitamins help support the daily nutrition i may be losing while on this diet?

    • ANSWER:
After trying every commercial program in the book I read "Rethinking Thin" by Gina Kolata. She clearly explained that the most popular diet programs including medically supervised calorie reduced diets (for very motivated people) do not work, as evaluated after one year for the vast majority of people.

The people, who I know personally, who have tried a medically supervised liquid protein diet, have all gained back the weight they lost and then some within a few months of stopping the program. The only people who benefited were the hospitals and medical personnel who supervised the diets.

I did, however, lose 80 pounds and have kept it off. You don't need to spend any money at all. I started with "Eat More, Weigh Less" by Dr. Dean Ornish, but any of the following experts and researchers recommend essentially the same whole plant based diet:

      Dr. Neal Barnard
      Dr. T. Colin Campbell
      Dr. John McDougall
      Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.
      Dr. Joel Fuhrman

Just make sure to eat a balanced vegetarian diet and avoid excess refined sugars, refined carbohydrates, fats, oils, dairy products, salt, food additives, preservatives, herbicides, pesticides, and animal based foods. MSG and aspartame (in soda pop) can be very counter-productive. Genetically modified foods such as soy, corn, and wheat cause allergic reactions in many people and can cause health and weight problems as well. Avoid coffee, tea, and especially Gatorade. Just drink pure unadulterated water with fresh squeezed lemon or lime for taste. Get leafy greens (kale, collards), colorful vegetables, legumes (peas, nuts, beans), whole grains (I avoid gluten), fruits, B12, D3, and Omega-3 (Ground flaxseed is good).

I highly recommend Barnard or Fuhrman and extremely insightful and well researched.

    • ANSWER:
I’ve certainly never been able to curb my extra pounds and keep it under control. I’ve already been yo-yo dieting for several years currently - from stress, my emotions and all types of issues in my entire life. Undesirable separations would certainly equal pounds on my figure, losing out on my position lead to putting on weight - it seemed that frozen goodies and as well , potato chips were really the only stuff that helped me feel good. I looked to food stuff to get comfort, whether I became stressed, scared, dissatisfied, turned down in addition to bored.

There were moments where I would lose pounds, and keep it away for only a little bit. I looked good, but the results were hardly ever permanent. I was absolutely distress with my appearance, and thinking I would hardly ever find balance in my weight.

When my sis told me of a amazing weightloss program, I knew I had nothing to lose and decided to go for it. Most definitely I'll admit that I am doubtful with regards to weightloss program nevertheless the deal featured a money back guarantee, and this gave me the opportunity to have a go at this without worry about throwing away my very own bucks.

It has been some thing I had never tried, and I was right at the end of my rope. It developed a number of ways of helping its’ clients, and seemed unique compared to other stuff I’d tried I knew.

I was at last becoming successful in my weight loss quest when I had dropped 30 lbs in just a month - I was nearly at my ultimate goal weight. I’ve never been more pleased. In case you are interested with regards to the program and want extra facts, please don't hesitate to surf at

  50. QUESTION:
What can I have during my liquid diet?
Im think I just want to drink hot tea and water but others say you need protein too but im sure i can live without protein for a week. Im only doing it for a cleanse on the body but i know it has pretty amazing effects one of them being weight loss.

    • ANSWER:
A liquid diet usually consists of anything you can see through. If you are srictly doing this for a body cleanse, that's okay. But you should know that any weight you loose during the cleansing process will be gained right back once you resume your normal diet. Your friends are right, you do need protien even during the cleansing process.

If I were going to reccomend a cleansing diet this is what I would suggest:
      * jellow (regular not sugar free) It is high in protien and the sugar will give your body calleries to burn
      * chicken broth or even chicken noodle soup (the chicken is lean protien and the nudles are carbohydrates which is feul for your body)
      * green tea )has lots of anti-oxidents and will help clean out your kidneys and blatter)
      * lemmonade (not the powdered stuff but made from lemmon juice, water and sugar) (for a gallon of water you use 3/4 cups of lemmon juice, an equil ammount of sugar -- unless you like it really sweet -- and fill your container with water and ice) is best served cold, and do not use artificial sweetner; those are bad for the liver, kidneys and blatter)) This will also provide you with vitamon C.
      * fruit juices are alway good. But watch the citric acid
      * you might consider drinking Gator-Aid. (not a, "sports drink," Gator-Aid contains electrolites which you will loos a great deal of on a liquid diet Sports drinks are high in high fruitos corn syrup which is okay, but too much is not good for you
      * since you are doing this for personal reasons and not medicle, you should consider supplimenting your liquid diet with protien drinks or smoothies. This will also help curve your hunger pangs too.
