If you have read some of my other writings on the subject of weight loss I think you will know that I am not a big proponent of weight-loss through supplements. However, if for whatever reasons you want or you need to use supplements to lose weight, what would be the most healthy weight-loss supplements to use?
There are so many weight-loss products on the market today that you could probably spend a year or two just wading through all of them.
Since the weight-loss market is such a lucrative one, you almost have everyone and his dog putting out some kind of supplement that promises you will have wonderful results that sometimes even defy common sense.
The two main categories of weight-loss supplements that you get on the market today are those supplements that are chemical-based and those that are herbal-based.
It probably goes without saying that the herbal-based supplements would be better for your body in general then chemical-based supplements.
This is not to say that chemical-based supplements are necessarily bad for your body, it is just to say that herbal-based supplements are manufactured from natural substances. These substances are generally more in natural harmony with your body.
There is generally this main differentiator between chemical-based and herbal-based products. Chemical-based products generally provide faster results that are not necessarily long-lasting. On the other hand, the herbal-based products tend to work slower but also at the same time provide more longer-lasting results.
None of these two supplement based solutions give you the same durability of results as plain good old-fashioned exercise and diet adjustment.
If you feel that you absolutely must use supplements for your weight control then my advice is to try the herbal based supplements first. Potential harm that these products can do to your body are often far less than their chemical-based counterparts.
People often leave their weight-loss effort to the last minute and therefore want something that can perform a miracle. Under no circumstances is it healthy for your body to experience an enormous fat mass loss in a very short period of time.
Your body has been designed to gradually burn away fat. Trying to short circuit your body's natural process can cause it a lot of harm.

QUESTION:
weight loss supplements and healthy eating options?
I'm looking to lose a bit of xmas weight and was wondering if there were any good weight loss supplements that would assist me, of course i'd be taking them alongside regular aerobic and anaerobic exercise, was just looking for an little extra help. Also what do you guys n girls recommend as healthy options for the main meals of the day, preferably stuff i can just go out and buy with little preparation as I don't have much spare time to prepare food from scratch, that and i'm probably a rubbish chef...
Thanks.
-
ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called ProShapeRX. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info, also if your in time, theres a limited free trial where all you have to do is pay like 5 bucks for s/h which I took advantage of but in the long run, I ended up ordering more. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate

QUESTION:
Is there a weight loss supplement that is healthy or are they a waste of money?
I am trying to get to a healthier weight and I was wondering if there is a safe and healthy supplement that will work. Or are the supplements just a waste of money?-
ANSWER:
hi.Yes there are supplements, which can help you. But it depends what you expect. Supplements don't make miracles. If you want to take this supplement, do nothing and waiting for weight loss results, you will be disappointed.
But there are supplements, which can help your fat loss efforts and even help you to lose fats in definite body areas.
Escape to buy "magic pills", which promise you fast and easy results.
I suggest you to buy yourself some fitness and bodybuilding supplements.
Such as:1) L-carnitine - it helps you to burn more fats during your cardio.
2) L-glutamine - it keeps your muscles untouched during tough and long diet.
3) Yohimbine - it is known as supplement, which increase libido, but it is also used to achieve Spot reduction (lose fats on definite areas).
4) Many other type of tees - green tea, black tea - these are thermogenetics and fatburners.
There are lot more. I will give you the first article about weight loss and health supplemental guide. Later will be more.
If you want to ask something feel free to e-mail me:)
Good luck.

QUESTION:
Best diet supplements for quick healthy weight loss?
i have till march 11 to go from being 5'6 and 174lbs to atleast 150lbs. please!!
also, i dont have a lot of free time considering i have a 2 year old and work full time.-
ANSWER:
No diet supplement will let you lose that, sorry. 24lbs are hard to shed, and you need at least 3 months if not more. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but its the truth.
Dietary supplements are risky, and can often lead to blurred vision, headaches, hair loss, liver damage, numbness in the hands and difficulty walking. It can cause calcium deposits to build up, which can interfere with muscle function, including the heart muscle. These are only a few side affects. What I suggest is seeing a dietitian and establishing a diet plan. Drink plenty of water, cut out carbs, saturated fats, artificial sugars and full fat dairy. Exercise an hour a day, every day. You may lose 2lbs by March 11 if you are strict and specific.

Is any kind of protein supplement needed for healthy weight loss?
Hi. I lost 39.5 in 6 months. I go to gym regularly. I just want to know is any kind of supplement is required ? I will skip a meal if I drink some supplement.Your input please. My target is total 110lbs. So approx, 70 lbs in next 12 months around.
-
ANSWER:
Whole foods and a clean and diverse diet are always best, but Whey protein is a high performance functional food that can definitely aid in recovery and improve your immune function. And if a muscle is stimulated properly, whey can help repair and build new muscle tissue which can boost your metabolism and help you drop more fat.Make sure you use a pure whey protein with No artificial Sweeteners, No artificial Flavors, No artificial Fillers etc.

QUESTION:
I found the BEST weight (healthy) loss supplement...?
Laxitives and cutting back calorie packed foods. You may be like 1) why is she shareing this and 2) how is this healthly??
Well I'm shareing this becasue I asked a question about two weeks ago on how to lose belly fat. I worked out five days a week (atleast 3x a week for some weeks) for the past three months. I weighed 130 and wanted to lose 10lbs by summer. I lost a pound the second week, but then went back up to130 and stayed there. I even gained 1.9lbs two weeks ago!!!
So I posted the question and two people answered I need to get fiber into my diet. I did research and found out that the body is suppost to expell waste after every meal or 3x a day!!! and not enough people clean their colen which leads to pulops and even cancer.
In one week, 3lbs lighter and counting! Now just like doing anything else in excess, taking too many will be horrible and unhealthy, but I follow the directions and take it atleast 3x a week.

QUESTION:
are there weight loss supplements that actually work?
do you know of weight loss supplements that actually work? im going to the gym and going to eat healthy but would like to also take something to help me as i am very over weight any tips?-
ANSWER:
Not without a prescription. Eating healthy (including portion control) and exercise is still the best way to lose weight. 1-2 pounds/week is considered reasonable healthy weight loss. You may lose weight a little faster than that at first as your body adapts to eating healthy and exercise. However, more long term rapid weight loss is more stressful on your body and less likely to be permanent.Cut out sweets, seconds and junk including processed foods and things made from white flour. Use the whole grain version instead like whole wheat or multi-grain bread, whole wheat pasta (which I actually prefer), and brown rice. Drink only water. However, allow yourself one small cheat a week. This keeps you from feeling deprived and gives you something to look forward to the rest of the week.
Some people have no snacks. I find I get headaches if I don’t eat more frequently, especially when first starting to eat healthy and exercise. I’ll allow myself a healthy snack of a small piece of fruit or veggies. Just be sure no dressing or peanut butter with it. Studies have shown that it is better to have 3 medium size meals and 2 small snacks rather than just 3 large meals. This helps keep blood sugar more steady. Plus you won’t feel so hungry at meal times.
Try dividing you plate into quarters. First fill half with fruits and veggies, The other quarters are for the lean protein and whole grain carb. This will help limit your calories and ensure you get plenty of fruits and veggies.

Are there any weight loss supplements (pills, tea, etc.) for people under the age of 18?

QUESTION:
what quick weight loss supplement works the best and is healthy for you?
I am looking to drop some weight fast but I am scared of some of the products on the market. Has anyone had any luck with a particular product?-
ANSWER:
Losing weight is a slow, gradual process and requires a combination of healthy eating, balanced nutrition and exercise. In an effort to lose weight, some people turn to prescription or over the counter medicine to control appetite and help them to 'starve' the extra weight off. Many of these products contain stimulants which raise heart rate and can cause anxiety and other health problems. Even some so-called 'natural' products contain ephedra and other harmful stimulants. Ultimately the body suffers and the lost pounds often return with a vengeance after the product is stopped.Herbal and homeopathic remedies can offer an effective natural solution to obesity and weight-gain.
There are also many natural weight loss supplements available that are effective in helping you to achieve your goal weight and support a healthy metabolism naturally. Herbal and homeopathic remedies are gentle on the body’s system, helping to create the conditions necessary for weight stabilization and balance.
These natural weight loss supplements also promote overall physical, mental and emotional health. Herbs such as Fucus vesiculosis, Gallium aperine, Taraxacum officinalis, Glycorrhiza glabra, Erythrea centaurium, Garcinia cambogia, Taraxacum officinalis, Glycorrhiza glabra, and Capsicum can help to boost the metabolism, improve liver functioning, stimulate the digestive system and keep the weight off.
Homeopathic remedies such as Kalium Phosphate, Calcium Phosphate and Calcium Fluoride also help to improve metabolism and the breakdown of dietary fat while reducing the craving for sweet foods. When used regularly, these natural ingredients can help to assist your body in weight loss while also helping rid your body of harmful toxins. The result is a slimmer, more energetic and healthier you!
In addition, the sea vegetable Fucus vesiculosis contains a concentrated source of minerals including iodine, which assists in the production of thyroid hormones necessary for maintaining healthy metabolism in all cells of the body.

QUESTION:
Are there natural herbs or any healthy supplement that can help with weight loss?
I am interest to find out about natural herbs and supplements that are healthy that can help me lose some weight. If anyone has used somthing that has worked for them I would love to hear about that also! Thank you!-
ANSWER:
The best "supplement" is to eat a balanced diet. Our bodies will often continue to crave food and store fat if we aren't get all our essential vitamins. We may eat and eat, but our bodies still "think" we're starving. If you think you're not getting all of your vitamins from food, or if you work out a lot (and thus lose water-soluable vitamins in sweat), find a good vitamin supplement to take.
Other than that, the best way to loose weight is to eat less and exercise more. Try to find creative ways to work more walking into your routine - that will help more than you know! I lost ten pounds my just doubling the amount I walk each day. I go for short "walk breaks" during the day, park on the far side of the parking lot, and make sure I go for a good 20 minute walk at least every other morning when I first get up.
Good luck!

QUESTION:
Rapid, healthy weight loss?
Since i was a kid, I've had problems with slow metabolism and my body fat percentage, never overweight but never exactly skinny. Recently however, after taking the better part of a year off from fighting to recovery from injuries, I discovered that my weight (which i rarely check when i'm not registered for a fight) has gone from my average 180 all the way to a top of 206! At the moment I've managed to get back down to 200, but by my plan, I need to lose ten pounds a month to make weight for a fight in august. I swim 3 days a week, run the 4 off days, hit a punching bag 7 days a week and do 2 hours of grappling training every saturday, in addition to watching my diet.
I'm finally giving in and opening myself to the idea of using a weight loss supplement. Can anyone recommend any good ones for me from the info I've given?
I'm 6' even and my normal walking around weight in the past has ranged from 176-182 but never gone above 185, and I've competed in MMA bouts at 185, 170 and 155. my next bout is in august at 155, thus my dilemma.-
ANSWER:

QUESTION:
Has anyone tried any weight loss supplements that show results?
Hi everyone, I am 5'1, 121 pounds. I have a healthy diet and exercise whenever I can and was wondering if any of you have tried a weight loss supplement that showed results..
I'm at a point in my success where the weight is coming off slower.
please help!-
ANSWER:
Most of them are junk to be honest with you, but I found one last year that has really helped me lose weight faster than without it, so I feel comfortable recommending it to you.
It's called Green Tea Fat Burner. The site below shows what the package looks like. I find it almost anywhere.
Since it's a Green Tea product, it's healthy as well.
I'm not some kook who takes a bunch of diet pills by the way!
I am the author of The Logic Diet.
I lost 86 pounds and have kept it off for 4 years now.
I still cheat on my diet on the weekends, and it used to take me about 6-8 days of dieting to lose the weight back.
Once I started using this Green Tea stuff as directed.... I would lose the weight back in 2-3 days!
It really is unbelievable... and it's cheap too!
If you have any other troubles keeping your weight off, or want to see more ways to lose it in the first place, check out my book as well please!

Good Luck, I also go to the gym, but I only run/walk about 15 - 20 mins.

QUESTION:
Do weight loss supplements and diets work?
Do the advertised pills, drops, diet programs like jenny craig actually work? I am trying to lose weight and the simple way..by cardio and eating a bit less but just out of curiosity wanna know if it is healthy to try the afore mentioned things and if they really do work or just make u feel good for some time till u regain all ur weight-
ANSWER:
It sounds like you're doing it right. Most pills and programs will have disclaimers in the advertising saying "Results not typical" or "With diet and exercise" for a reason. If you need help controlling your portions something like Jenny Craig or WeightWatchers can be helpful, especially with guidance keeping your intake well balanced and with moral support, but it all comes down to reducing (or modifying) what you eat and being more active.
It can take a while and you will hit walls and plateaus, but keep at it!
If you do decide you need additional help (pills or drops) I'd ask your doctor and steer clear of people who point to the same web site (designed, of course, to sell you crap) for just about every answer they give.

ANSWER:
I have been reading up on the acai berry myself. The acai berry's natural combination of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, and amino acids work together to assit your body and make it function better. Your body will process food more easily and burn fat more efficiently.
The acai berry has around twenty times the antioxidants of red grapes. It is a wonderful protein, and has a large amount of dietary fiber. The fats contained in the acai berry are healthy omega fats.
The acai berry is loaded with amino acids, which muscles need to function properly and benefit from exercise. These amino acids combined with fatty acids allow the body to burn fat more effectively and help tone your muscles.I have found the following informational site very informative - http://www.acai-health-diet.com.

QUESTION:
What is the best weight loss supplement?
I have been working on losing weight to become healthy. I have started a very nice exercise and diet plan (i.e. lifestyle change). I have lost 20 pounds so far. However, I would like to speed that process up or at least give it a push, especially with the holidays coming around. What is the best weight loss supplement out there that will give me a boost in my efforts? Thanks.-
ANSWER:
I'm sure you've heard of the thermogenics like Hydroxycut. I used to work at GNC and Hydroxycut Hardcore was our #1 seller by far. The other forms of Hydrodxycut were not far behind. If you already have diet and exercise down, I'd add a thermogenic. If a thermogenic does not interest you, perhaps a healthy, natural supplementation would suffice. You should add the following to your regimen:
-A 7 day (or more) detoxification program
-GNC Lean Shake
-CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)The detox alone will cleanse out your system (should be taken twice annually) and the Lean Shake is a protein powder with 8 grams of fiber per serving, keeping you full and less hungry longer. The CLA is taken by just about all bodybuilders when they are trying to lose weight. It literally turns your fat into energy, but not over night or even in a week like a thermogenic. CLA is a long term use and is very healthy for you. Here are the links for the Detox, Lean Shake, and CLA

QUESTION:
How effective and healthy are diet supplements?
With all the advertisements for weight loss supplements like Trimspa, Hydroxycut, etc... I'm curious to know more about the positive and negative aspects of using them for weight loss.-
ANSWER:
It truly depends on the company/ingredients/chemicals or natural and combination. Also it depends on your own body and it's reasons for making you gain...I find with myself that it is an emotional thing that rules my lose and gain. I grew up being abused mentally all my life...now that I have finally learned to say NO to abusers and stand up, plus I am finally making headway in my life, going where I want to be...I have suddenly lost 28 lbs in about two months...not trying.
But I feel good about myself NOW...so I lose.
It can also depend on the combination of the foods you eat together and if you drink caffeine in any method near a meal. I once stopped having caffeine anywhere a meal or near any source of fats and poof! I spent the whole weekend using the washroom!
So, being aware of your lifestyle/habits/emotions and eating style can make a difference, then ensure that you use a natural and well researched suppliment as well as a good natural vitamin AND mineral suppliment can go a long way in the long run to reducing size and fat verses the muscle mass.
This is the company that I use for the best suppliments: http://www.naturessunshine.com/index.asp

QUESTION:
Healthy weight loss aid?
Alright, I'm 18 and I have been trying to lose weight forever so I know all the stuff about healthy diet etc...I do not want to take any diet pills and I do not want to starve myself. I exercise 5 days a weeks( 30 mins cardio) but I can't seem to loose weight. All I loose is water weight. My sister's graduation is May 16th and I would really want to be 10 pounds lighter by then. What "healthy" supplement (i already drink green tea) can I use to help me loose weight?-
ANSWER:
Whenever you are trying to lose weight, you should concentrate on these three things which all work together in providing a healthier and quicker weight loss goal for yourself. I have found this combination really successful in my weight loss plans. The first thing is exercising and how much you can put forth into it. The more you exercise, the more results you will see. The next thing is dieting and the calorie intake. If you exercise more, technically you could eat more? Always watch what you eat.Now the last step in a good weight loss plan is always a good diet pill that can help you get to the end of the road. I have found Proactol which is a natural herbal diet pill to be the best around. It's an appetite suppressant along with being a fat blocker which stops up to 28% of fat you eat. Read up about it at TheWeightLossPlace .com where I saved money on it. Proactol really works well with exercising which gives you plenty of energy to perform. Along with that your diet will be affected by Proactol due to the appetite suppressant and fat blocker. If you slip up on meals, the fat blocker kicks in. It's really great to stop food cravings.
Concentrate on those three things and the combination is deadly for the fat cells in your body. Good luck and I hope this helps.

QUESTION:
Is it possible for to keep the weight off after using diet supplements?
If someone was to take a weight loss supplement (e.g. hydroxycut, alli), lose the weight they wanted, and then stopped using the supplement, would they gain all of the weight back? Would maintaining a healthy lifestyle afterward keep the weight off?-
ANSWER:
95% of the people that attempt fad diet or diet pill weight loss fail and many end up heavier.
(Source - CDC)
You may lose some weight but once you start eating a regular diet (whatever that is these days) the pounds will go right back on.
The only permanent solution is slow healthy weight loss and a lifestyle change away from processed foods and towards a whole foods diet. Any diet that excludes foods from any food group will ultimately fail.
Finally, check the fine print on any "diet pill". You will read that statements made are not approved by the FDA. Alli is the ONLY approved over the counter weight loss supplement.

QUESTION:
What is a cheap diet supplement that works in the aiding of weight loss (with healthy dieting and exercise)?
I don't trust the products that guarantee immediate effects.I already use Tonalin® CLA, which seems to work (and I've seen it on many reliable sites), but I was wondering if there were any others.

ANSWER:
Hi there
I have had great results using Proactol which is a natural fat binder and also helped me control my food cravings. when buying this product you will actually receive some pretty cool bonuses like free healthy recipes, an ebook to help you with your weight loss efforts plus some really good exercise videos so you get all the aspects important when wanting to lose weight:
control of calories, exercise, healthy eating, restriction of the bad fats plus an appetite suppressant effect which will help you to maintain your healthy diet and turn it into a habit.Like I said, I have used the product myself and noticed that the longer I was using the better the results became (I had to lose atleast 65 lbs and did reach that, now I have been able to maintain it for almost a year
and even still going down slowly)I have added some useful resources in the source box, one is a faq about proactol if you want to check it out, the other is a coupon discount page so that you can get it a lot cheaper.
I hope this helps!

QUESTION:
What are the best weight loss supplements?
I am a 28 year old female, 250lbs and I have been actively working out for about 3weeks now. I need to lose about 60lbs (lost 10 so far).
I am working on staying with high protein (including protein supplement) and low carb but I haven't gotten crazy with it because I am really focused on maintaining a healthy life style and not just lose weight quickly.
Anyhow, I am looking for any suggestions on any other supplements I should be taking to help with the weight loss part. Thanks in advance for any advice!-
ANSWER:
Hi Pretty Am,
First off congrats on the commitment to finally taking the weight off!
You need to target a calorie intake of 2000 calories per day. This needs to be made up of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meat, fish, and small amounts of dairy. Brown rice is a great complex carb. Beans too. Complex carbs take longer to break down and provide a more stable blood sugar level. Sugar level spikes are what can punch your hunger and energy buttons. Raw unsalted nuts are a super snack and have good fats your body needs. Trader Joe's has the best prices on nuts and dried plums and apricots. Try and eat a few of those for your sweet tooth. Great fiber source. A LITTLE dark chocolate for antioxidants.
You are trying to do too much with the protein drink. First lets get rid of the excess fat and then we can look at building new muscle. The protein drink will actually turn into fat so dump it for awhile.
Lots of water with fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt while you are working out. The sports drinks all have sugar in them. You are trying to burn fuel (fat) not consume it.
As you continue to work out you will build muscle tone and burn more calories during and after workouts. Hit it hard for six days a week and get one full day of rest for muscle to heal. Maybe just an easy walk on your off day. Three lbs per week is a great start. It will scale back to 1-1/2 to two lbs per week and that is healthy.
The only supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin. That way you are not missing out on any essential nutrients. Stay away from anything that is not FDA approved. Spend your diet dollars on your gym membership and at the grocery store.
See the link below for information about what is in supplements.

QUESTION:
Healthy Weight Loss Plans?
I am 23, female, and just weighed myself. To my dismay, not only did I gain back the weight I had lost, I had packed on 13 more pounds. I now weigh 182, I'm 5'8.I need help with a healthy weight loss plan. I am feeling very discouraged. I will not take supplements, as I know they can be unhealthy. I do not like "raw" foods really, but I do love to eat cooked/steamed veggies. I also lean towards healthier meats like using ground turkey breast, chicken, and tuna.
I know I need to exercise way more than I do. I am about to lose access to the only gym I have because I am going to graduate college next month. I have a wii fit, but it takes too many little breaks in between each exercise, so I never feel like I really get "good" exercise. I have a Jillian Michaels weight loss video as well, but I'll be the first to admit I have issues motivating to do it.
Other important things: I have bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder. Both cause me not to sleep well, so I have chronic insomnia which I know can lead to weight gain. But also, if I diet too severely my moods swing. Due to the anxiety I have an abnormally high heartbeat, so I have to be careful when exercising, so as not to get dizzy and/or overheat.
Can anyone recommend any help to me? Weight Watchers and Curves are way too expensive and completely outside of my budget. I need some healthy recipes, and ways to motivate myself to lose weight. Please help, I'm really depressed and discouraged.

ANSWER:
Don't worry! You can do it! You're not as far off as you think. You can try to live an active lifestyle - park far away from the store so you have to walk, bike places whenever possible instead of driving, do sets of 10 push ups at your leisure throughout the day - they're harder than you think! Whenever you're feeling sluggish, get up and get your blood pumping, even if it's only for 5 minutes. Jumping jacks are effective, even though they suck. I prefer hula-hooping, but not everyone has space... or a hoop =)
-Skip any fast food meals you might be eating... Ick.
-Replace all white breads & pastas with whole grain versions.
-Try to get 50% of your calories from vegetables.
-Make sure to get enough water
-Drink Milk... 3-4 glasses will give you enough calcium for the day. Here are some of my favorite quick, easy, healthy foods:
1. Yogurt & Granola with berries or other fruit... and maybe some honey =)
2. Whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce made with prego, diced tomatoes, and cooked ground turkey or low-fat sausage, OR garbanzo beans if you're a vegetarian (de-lish).
3. Roasted veggies with olive oil, salt, pepper, and turmeric or cumin (or curry powder, or garlic... the possibilities are endless)
4. Tossed green salad with nuts, bleu cheese, apples or pears, and vinaigrette or Annie's goddess dressing
5. Broccoli chicken bake - toss broccoli (or other veg) and cooked chicken with a can of condensed cream soup (chicken, mushroom, celery, whatever). Top with bread crumbs OR stove top stuffing mix. Bake at 350 until golden brown and bubbly... about 30 mins
6. Satsuma oranges
7. Apples & peanut butter
8. Half a grapefruit with cinnamon/brown sugar sprinkled on top - broiled for 30 seconds. YUM.
9. Toss asparagus with olive oil, salt & pepper & bake at 350 for 15-20 mins.
10. Cooked boneless/skinless chicken breast with brown rice & carrots cooked with cardamum... use wine with the carrots and when they're done, reduce the remaining liquid with a little water & a flour/butter (roux) mixture to make a little sauce.Best of luck!
P.S. With your high B.P., try to limit sodium, which increases water retention, putting more pressure on your heart and arteries/veins.

I'm sure you are aware of what your target weight should be for your height and age. I don't know what the calculation is, but you should easily be able to find the formula to give you the number of calories you should eat every day. weight loss supplements?
Okay I know the only way to lose weight is to put out the effort, exercise, eat a healthy balance diet, and drink water and everyone says that there are bad side effects to diet pills but do all natural weight loss supplements really help if combined with diet and exercise? If so what vitamins and or other supplements work best? I've heard drinking apple cider vinegar with water works well but is this true? If so does a pill form of cider vinegar work just the same? What is the best weight loss supplement to assist with losing weight? I don't want anything that will make me jittery or feel awful. I want to incorporate this into an exercise plan and healthy eating plan. I need to lose 60+ lbs in 4-5 months!-
ANSWER:
I hate these posts that say "What's the worst that could happen?"How about electrolytic imbalance, throwing money away on a placebo, allergic reactions, pimples, demonic possession and death?
As to your question, THERE ARE NONE.
Weight loss is a simple numbers game. Burn off more than you take in. Low intensity exercise and a diet with lots of vegetables and fresh fruit -- reduced beef and fried food intake and absolutely NO Soda or junk foods. MOVE OFF THE COUCH AND AWAY FROM THE TV...MOVE TOWARDS THE RUNNING SHOES...
http://www.fakereviewssuck.com/scams/aca... (Acai Berry is a Brazillian blueberry. If you want antioxidants, go to Kroger. Steam some broccoli and throw blueberries in your breakfast cereal. Tea? Um runs contrary to the water drinking thing. Other products are great--I love shoving stuff up my...err...huh?)
Now for the real way. Work out smarter, not harder. Low intensity workouts (elliptical, running, biking) where your heart rate stays in Zone 2 (60-70% of maximum heart rate) burns calories at a rate 85% calories, 15% glycogen. The higher your heart rate or the more intense the workout the lower the ratio of Fat to Glycogen becomes.
If you run 3 miles in 23 minutes and your heart is pounding at the end, you've burned about 480 calories of which probably 400 cal. came from sugar.
If you WALK 3 miles in 45 minutes, and you feel like you could walk another 3 miles no problem, then chances are you burned 400 cal. that came from fat stores (which is harder for your body to replace) and 80 cal came from sugar. (The number of calories burned is essentially the same in either case because you do the same amount of work -- the laws of physics are hard to change.)
LOW intensity exercise for the duration is the way to go for weight loss. Lots of fruits and vegetables, no preprocessed foods, no fried foods and limit beef intake. Go for chicken. Cross training in cycling or swimming also increases caloric burn and is a nice change. Swimming is good for recovery as well.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Having a motivating purpose is VERY helpful. Sign up for a 10K run 12 weeks from now and promise yourself you will run/jog the whole thing and cross the finish line with a smile. If you train for it and STICK TO A TRAINING PLAN but if miss a workout don't sweat it--stuff happens. The weight loss comes as almost an afterthought as you're following a schedule of training/recovery days. Start out for example walking/jogging 20 minutes non-stop at CONVERSATIONAL PACE 4x per week using a 10 minute walking cooldown afterwards. Increase duration of the jog by no more than 10% per week. In 12 weeks you'll be able to run 60 minutes non-stop and feel like you could keep going. By then a 10K for you should be a warmup. If you do this for 5 months you'll be ready for a half or full marathon no problem.
See you at the finish line! And start saving your money-- you're going to need new clothes. This type of weight loss is permanent because it turns you into an athlete for life.

QUESTION:
Is this a healthy weight-loss plan?
I am 5'10, 250, about 80 lbs. overweight, but have been eating and exercising much better lately, have lost almost 50 pounds so far this year. I want to finally get in shape, sooner rather than later...I looked up my metabolic rate thing, and found out my body already burns about 2500 calories per day... If I burned another 3000 per day from running, swimming, and lifting weights, and consumed 1800-2000 calories per day, I'd probably lose 5-6 pounds per week... is this healthy weight loss, seeing as how I'm still consuming 2000 calories per day, and taking vitamins, supplements, and strecthing a lot? QUESTION:
losing weight in a month..?
I need to lose 15-20 pounds in one month for my sisters wedding. I know that's not healthy, but I would like the healthiest way as possible. I have class everyday and about an hour to spare every night.
what could i do with that hour to make sure I reach my weight loss goal?
any HEALTHY weight loss supplements?
and what should I eat to stay healthy as possible and lose weight?thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Unfortunately, there is no magic formula when it comes to quick weight loss. 15/20lbs is a lot of weight to lose, especially in one month. An average weight loss is around 1lb/2lbs a week. Although it is possible to lose a bit more in the first week. The best way to lose weight healthy and keep it off is to change your lifestyle. By eating a healthy, balanced diet, along with regular exercise. The two work perfectly together. I know. I also managed to lose 52lbs in just over 6 months. This was over 3 years ago. I have since then been able to maintain my weight with ease. This is how I did it:-
I eat a healthy, balanced diet of:-
Lean meats (no fat on), poultry (no skin on), fish with scales on (no batter or breadcrumbs), plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, beans & pulses, (including potatoes, pasta, rice & bread), Carbohydrates are not fattening as long as you keep them plain and simple, eggs, low fat dairy products, skimmed milk, sugar free beverages, and non sugary cereals.Try to include more whole foods into your diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans & pulses. These are high in fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
DO KEEP AWAY from all JUNK FOODS, ready made processed meals, alcohol, sugary fizzy drinks, and takeaway meals. These are high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat. The two main ingredients which are responsible for that extra weight gain.
REMEMBER: JUNK FOOD is just what it says - JUNK. With one added ingredient in - FAT.
There are NO HEALTHY WEIGHT SUPPLEMENTS. It is all a big CON. The ONLY way is to EAT LESS and MOVE MORE.
Try to MOVE as much as you can. EXERCISE will really help to accelerate your weight loss.
Remember if, once you have reached your goal. You CAN'T go back to your old eating habits and activity levels. Otherwise you WILL put all the weight back on again. It is as simple as that.
Good Luck.

Yes, I know and totally agree a healthy diet and exercise is necessary for weight loss and maintanence but I was thinking about adding some type of weight loss pill of my regimine. QUESTION:
Do weight loss supplements work and does anyone have experience with them?
I have not been able to find any definitive answers online. The best products seem to be those that contain Conjugated Linoleic Acids. I have no idea. First off, I am well aware that regardless if they work or not, you simply cannot lose weight without eating healthier food, and lots of exercise. Trust me I do both, I have started eating better of the last month or so,protein, fruits, vegetables, water, not too many carbs or starches and no junk food, also exercise, 6 days a week for the last 1.5 months, I have lost 15lbs(water weight). The fact remains I am overweight. My question is, with having a good diet and doing vigorous exercise will diet supplements work, or does anyone have any experience using them in that combination only, not interested in just taking the pills by themselves which would be useless. I would like to know if they work, how they work, how long have they worked, good results, poor results, any bad side effects. Experience would be good or if anyone just knows more about these supplements and their effects. Really hoping for some knowledgeable answers.-
ANSWER:
I've tried many supplements and commercial diet programs but none worked for me over the long term. Gina Kolata in her well-researched book "Rethinking Thin" describes the failure of most diets for the vast majority of people over a period of 2-3 years. CLA appears to have some potentially serious health side effects:http://www.naturalnews.com/010126.html
I finally lost 90 pounds and kept it off by eating what's known as "whole plant based" foods. Essentially you shun all processed foods and most supplements. I avoid most oils/fats, refined sugars/starches, and salt.
Read:
"Eat More, Weigh Less" by Dr. Dean Ornish, or
"Food for Life" by Dr. Neal Barnard, or
"Fasting and Eating for Health" by Dr. Joel FuhrmanSearching the Internet for a "whole plant based diet" will also provide you with a very effective diet that I swear by. The reason I continue to eat this way is because of how good I feel when I eat correctly. This is also called a "vegan diet", however, I am not so focused on the animal rights aspects of eating and living.

QUESTION:
Is it safe to drink weight loss protein shake's while breastfeeding?
My baby is about to turn 3 month's old and i still have the postpartum pregnancy weight, and i am trying to lose it or at least lose a couple of pounds. I do plan to exercise but along with it i would like to have an additional supplement, like the protein shake. Would this somehow affect my baby in any way?Is there any healthy weight loss milkshake that does not contain to many chemicals?
-
ANSWER:
It would depend on the particular product you're using. You have to be very careful about using supplements because they have almost no federal controls and many have been found to be of poor quality, contain contaminents, etc. It's much better for you and for baby to get your protein from real food. And, don't forget, protein has the same caloric value as pure sugar...4 cals/gm. Here's the story. Here's what you need to know about protein supplements.
The most popular protein supplements are no more than milk with the nutrition extracted leaving the whey which is then sold for several times the amount you would pay for dehydrated milk. The result is you get less nutrition and spend more money. How does that make sense?
Your body does not store protein as it does fat. It makes the protein it needs when it needs it. And, if you're building muscle, it needs it over the entire recovery time between workouts and not just before or just after working out. That makes the idea of dumping a bunch of protein into your system at one time senseless.
Most people grossly overestimate the amount of protein they need. Here's how much you need according to the experts at the US National Institute of Health via the CDC. --> http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/basics/protein.html#How%20much%20protein . Most people in the developed world get that amount of protein in their daily diet because it amounts to no more than a glass of milk, some beans, and a piece of meat. Excess protein is just wasted and most will be excreted by the body or used as fuel supporting fat gain.
Protein supplements are also bad for diets because they are not whole food, have almost no fiber, still contribute calories, but cannot provide the satisfaction and appetite suppression of a natural digestive process. Protein has the same number of calories per gram as sugar.
Here's why protein shakes should be avoided:
• They are not carefully controlled by the FDA as are foods and drugs.
• They may have harmful or undesirable side effects.
• May contain metabolically or biologically unavailable proteins because of processing.
• Will probably provide more protein than you need with the rest going to waste.
• Can unbalance a diet and upset the macronutrient ratios.
• Provide you with extra and unnecessary calories.
• May contain junk food ingredients to make them tasty.
• Possibly provide you unwanted contaminants or toxins. FDA does not require testing.
• Are overpriced and waste money.
• Can ruin a fat loss diet.
• Replaces what you really need - good food! The secret to building muscle, burning fat, and eating healthy is very simply to eat the correct and optimal amount of whole and varied foods as recommended by the US National Institute of Health. Now here are some references from the experts.
Here is what the US National Institute of Health warns about supplements. "Always check with your health care provider before taking a supplement, especially when combining or substituting them with other foods or medicine."
Ref: http://ods.od.nih.gov/Health_Information/ODS_Frequently_Asked_Questions.aspx#NeedHere’s a white paper which debunks the myth of the protein supplement. Note the following excerpt...“At present there is no evidence to suggest that supplements are required for optimal muscle growth or strength gain.”
Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15212752Here's one more study to read. Note the excerpt..."Consumption of a recovery drink (whey protein, amino acids, creatine, and carbohydrate) after strength training workouts did not promote greater gains in FFM (Fat free muscle) compared with consumption of a carbohydrate-only drink.”
Ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15105028Here's what Consumer Reports had to say..."But our investigation, including tests at an outside laboratory of 15 protein drinks, a review of government documents, and interviews with health and fitness experts and consumers, found most people already get enough protein, and there are far better and cheaper ways to add more if it's needed. Some protein drinks can even pose health risks, including exposure to potentially harmful heavy metals, if consumed frequently. All drinks in our tests had at least one sample containing one or more of the following contaminants: arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. Those metals can have toxic effects on several organs in the body."

Assuming someone is eating healthy and exercising, what is the best diet pill to aid in weight loss?
As I said, I already do as much exercise as I can (long story) and actually eat below the recommended calories a day, and balanced meals. It's not a case of lack of exercise or improper eating habits.-
ANSWER:

QUESTION:
Faster weight loss technique...supplements, exercises, foods, etc.?
So I'm on a huge weight loss kick right now. I exercise five times a week (running two miles and swimming alternately) and eating semi-healthy. But I'm looking to add some extra umph into my routine. I'm seeing good results, but I want it to go a little faster. Does anyone have any good advice on possible supplements, exercises, or foods that I can add to my routine to quicken the weight loss? I weight train every now and again but not on a regular schedule as far as that goes...I'm kind of leaning on my swimming to sculpt the muscles, but I'm willing to add that on if necessary. Any advice would be appreciated.-
ANSWER:
Try NO-Xplode by BSN if you want a kick in your workout. It's not a dietary supplement, mind you. It just helps you keep focused during your workout, don't get as tired and just plainly it helps you to have a way better workout. For some people it doesn't work, maybe because they don't follow the directions correctly. It's working for me, I can tell the difference in my body. I just work harder when I'm using NO Xplode.
Good Luck!

QUESTION:
Weight loss, and herbal supplements?
I am a female, 5"7" and I weigh, on average, 123.
I know that I am "healthy," according to many weight loss calculation charts.
However, I have excess fat on my tummy, thighs, and butt.Today, I bought "smart cleanse" - the 30 day supplements.
I do NOT have an eating disorder, I am VERY aware of the dangers of going about losing weight that way. What I'm asking from the community (you,) is to share success stories, advice, and lots of details.
This is my plan:
-eat a 200 calorie breakfast, with my coffee
-skip lunch, or eat no more than 300 calories (i get out of school at 2:50)
-eat at 5 pm (no more than 400 calories)
-exercise (jogging) for 30 minutes, at least a few times a weekBased on your expierience, how fast can I lose 10-15 pounds with this plan?
Once again, I'm not looking for ignorant responses that state the unessecary, and the obvious, ect.I plan on going about this the healthy way, but I also want my calorie intake to remain below 600 a day, for at LEAST the first week. Because, I know you lose more the first few days than anything.
I realize that, I do, but what I'm looking for is
- expiriences
- advice thats true and effective
- information and details on how much weight i'll lose by following the above ^^^
because it will provide me with real knowledge and inspire me to lose my desired 10 pounds, minimumthankyou for reading me ramble and taking the time to answer<3

ANSWER:
Pointers on Losing Weight SafelyPeople who want to lose weight commonly, and first of all, think about reducing the amount of food they eat. This may be quite a solution but not exactly the best there is. In fact, depending on the amount you reduce in your food intake, it may even be dangerous to one's health. So how does one lose weight effectively and safely? Here are some points one should consider when trying to lose weight:
Beware of the Crash Diets
Most people think that trimming down the calories can alone shed off their unwanted excess. Probably this is because of the fad there is in advertising about low-calorie food products and beverages. What people don't know is that this could be dangerous because when they decrease their calorie intake way to below the required levels, the body begins to digest the fats. Sounds good but it doesn't actually. Burning fat requires a lot of energy. Since there is not much energy in the body to facilitate metabolism of fat, it will run at a very slow pace resulting to fatigue, illness and weak immune system.
Low-calorie diet is also compensated for by the body by burning muscle. People on this type of diet who revert back to their old eating habits end up gaining back some, if not all the weight they have shed off. This would consist mainly of fats. And since fats have more volume per mass than muscle, they end up having the same weight as before but more bulkier. In losing weight, one should keep in mind that they should lose excess body fats only.
However, one can try out eating small meals at more frequent intervals. This way the body will not think that it is being starved and will not store food as fat.
Eat Properly
One may have considered junking the crash diet option but he should also not forget to watch what he is eating. Variety must always be considered so that one may be able to get the necessary nutrients from his diet.It is also healthier to eat food which are roasted, steamed or broiled rather than fried. It is also important to include a lot of fiber in the diet. Frequent rehydration is also necessary.
Pump Up lean Muscle Mass
Muscles burn calories when they work; they even do so at rest. Unlike fats which just lie around, bulge around the pants and dangle beneath the sleeves, muscles burn calories all-day round. With this fact, one can start weight loss by increasing muscle mass. The more muscles, the less fat will be left. This is attainable starting with working out with resistance exercises.
Engaging in Aerobics
Aerobics are not only good for the heart by increasing cardio-vascular endurance. Aerobics also help in increasing lean muscle mass while simultaneously decreasing excess body fat. Aside from these, aerobics make the metabolic process more efficient and its rate high, even after a long while. Imagine burning fat efficiently while driving along the freeway or even while watching television.
Extra "Push"
Some people believe that smoking and caffeine can actually help in losing weight. This can perhaps be true; however, they do the body more harm than good because of their side-effects. For that extra "push", one can try out taking food supplements. Afterall, 95% of these products out in the market actually does good.
On Taking Diet Pills
Over-the-counter diet pills affect the amount of weight one loses as well as how long one keeps that amount of weight off. However, one must be wary of the side-effects of these diet pills. As such, one must faithfully follow the instructions provided for in the packaging. It is also prudent to consult the physician anyway before trying out these drugs and also to find out which type would be best for the individual.
Losing weight does not have to mean sacrifice and suffering. It actually means opening up to a more full and healthy life where one may not have to feel bad about himself having to look the way he does or not being able to do what he wants to do. Losing weight might entail a little adjustments plus the discomforts, but as the old saying goes, "no pain, no gain." Besides fat, what has one got to lose anyway?
Here's hoping this helps you on your way. If there is any more I can do just contact me.
