      Pretty much anything from GNC is going to be a rip off. And as the other guy on here pointed out its not FDA approved... but no dietary supplements in the U.S. are. Actually - thanks to Orrin Hatch - dietary supplements don't need FDA approval, it's the FDA's responsibility to prove that a supplement is bad for you.

      That being said, any "pill" that's going to help you lose weight is probably going to be a stimulant, so skip it.

      Two things: If you have a busy schedule then 1) wake up 30 minutes earlier and go for a jog before your morning routine, and 2) cut out the junk food (soda, chips, cookies, candy and limit bread).

      Like most extreme points of view, the ones concerning thermogenics are wrong and there is a middle road...

      Thermogenics can be very effective as an aid ( as you have accepted ) to weight loss/ lean mass retention. However, stupid use of them will be dangerous.

      First off don't purchase just anything as most are full of rubbish. Ephedrine and caffeine are the only really effective working combination (an EC stack). So get yourself some pure ephedrine and some caffeine pills from any supermarket. Don't get the aspirin component ( or any pre made ECA).

      Second is dosing. I have dosing recommendations on the site I'm setting up which allow you to build up safely to a full dose and assess the reaction on your body. ( the first site)

      The EC stack is used in many countries safely but if you have any concerns then please look at the second site which has loads more information.

      Your hesitance is a good thing as it stop you jumping in uninformed... Though I'm sure most people here will say never use them... and the ones that do are probably spam but please have a look at the sites and hope this helps.

      Basically the equation is calories in, calories out. Forget the pills. Cut back on very high calories foods like sugar and alcohol [this includes candy bars,'energy' drinks and even some breakfast cereals]

      Make sure that any sugar you have is sugar you add, not what the manufacturer adds, read the label. You are not going to instant weight loss except with water loss and that isn't good for you. Work out a diet program (without completely dropping anything) and an exercise program and plan months ahead.

      I would stay away from caffeine, which is a key ingredient in many fat-burners. While it's helpful in cutting fat, it also increases the desire to eat when you stop the pills. So it backfires on you in the end.

    Before I start....I am on a strict and healthy diet and exersize plan. I usually eat just under 1200 calories a day and I take multi vitamins. I exersize 1 and sometimes 2 hours a day and 3 times a week I go to the gym and use those giant machines for arms, back, legs, core ect...blahblahblah.

      Hey, glad you asked this question! I'm currently on lipo 6x which is the one up from what your on, but pretty much the same. Currently bodybuilding, came off a weight gain 3 weeks ago, went straight onto a fat burner, consuming 50g of carbs per day, 320g of protein, and 200g of fat. They are working really well for me, it aids an extra 20% on what you usually get from a diet (if that makes sense). When i came off my weight gain i was around 10.5% body fat, i am now 5% and still dropping :) !

      These are worth it, i'm dieting like this for bodybuilding, its not healthy as such, but it strips fat off. Your diet sounds good, as long as your still feeling good, then its all good!

      You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

      Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.

      Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

      The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don't your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

      It takes minimum of 3 days to convert your body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis) you will probably feel sluggish the first week but most people feel better than ever thereafter.

      Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

      Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

      High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

      Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup of water, cinnamon, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle and nuke for 1.5 min. for hot cereal or 2 min. for more of a muffin type thing. Great low carb, high fiber treat. Suggested for daily fiber needs.

      The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight.

      Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

      Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Normalizing blood pressure, blood sugar, insulin, cholesterol, triglyercerides and hormone levels are all bonus features of doing a low carb way of eating. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calories, Bad calories" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

      I have tried a few things with great results. Running is the simplest. Not on a treadmill but outside. The climate, hot or cold, will intensify the work out. A mile and a half is about average distance. Aim to finish in 12 to 10 min. Running is not for everyone though. It is rough on knees and backs. Swimming is arguably a better workout than running. You do not have to do back stroke or anything fancy, just swim freestyle. Quick laps from one end of the pool to the other and swimming around following the side to catch your breath is a good workout.

    I am current 19 years old and weighing about 130lb. I need to lose about 15lbs to be at 115lb. I just started my diet last week and have already lost 2lbs.
    Usually I go to the gym 5 days a week and one hour a day. When there are no fitness classes, I do bicycling.
    Along with the exercise, I eat a hearty soup (about 144 cal) in the mornings and salad or subway (sometimes steak or low cal stuff) for lunch. Fruits for dinner. No snacks, no junk food, no sweets, etc.

      I'm sorry, but they do not work.

      You need to either eat less calories, or use up more calories by more exercise.

      So why are there so many diets? I guess most people hope there would be an easy solution. But I think there is another explanation as well. Some foods leave you feeling more full than others, so you can eat less calories and still not feel very hungry (this seems to be the way those diets where you eat mainly meat work).

      Oddly previous diets seemed to advise the opposite - Eat lots of vegetables and very little meat. This means you were eating a lot of fibre and so your stomach was physically full, but you did not get the tastes you craved, so you tended to feel very hungry with those diets.

      There are some diets now which are experimenting with the idea that the body does not get as many calories from some types of food as you are supposed to. Calories are measured by burning a knowamountnt of the food in purOxygenen and measuring the heat given out (search for "bomb calorimeter" if you are interested in the technical stuff). However, the body does not BURN food like that, it absorbs most of it anoxidizeses it through chemical reactions to give us the energy. These new diets are trying to exploit these differences and find foods that people like and will leave them feeling full, while not being too many calories.

      Personally I find that an interesting idea, but if it was that simple, I'm sure such a food would have been found by now and we would all be thin and the whole world would know that if you wanted to loose weight quickly and easily, all you have to do is eat food "X".

      So I'm sorry, there is no easy answer in my opinion. You just have to eat a little less calories each day and exercise a little more. It will take a long time, but that is generally considered the most successful route to weight loss. Please note that it is generally though that 97% approx of dieters will not only put back all the weight they have lost, but will put even more on. That is why now they prefer to talk of "lifestyle changes" rather than diets - As the most successful methods generally mean changing changing what/how much you eat and exercise for the rest of your life.

      I think Ephedrine is more of an appetite suppressant than a fat burner. So you will lose weight by suppressing your appetite.

      I think for fat burning you could try L-Carnitine which helps you burn off fat during exercise. It is also naturally occurring in the body too but more of it can aid entering the fat burning zone.

      Ephedra is only legal in very small doses, for good reason it has killed many people who have taken it. There are much better Hoodia choices available. You want to make sure you get "pure hoodia" not an extract. Get a pure hoodia brand that has C.I.T.E.S. certification. You also need to make sure you get 750 mg. to 1000 mg. per pill. They usually don't put enough Hoodia in these big chain store brands to do much of anything. To find the best Hoodia I always recommend Totalink's unbiased Hoodia comparison at http://hoodiagordonii.totalink.com/hoodia_comparison.html

      Well, to start, there's my "half" strategy. Or you could just stop eating junk food regularly. Here are some guidelines to get you on the right track:

      Don't let junk food become meals -- they should be strictly snacks and treats.

      Put only living food on your plate for your meals, such as fresh fruits and veggies (not the kind out of cans, microwaves, or bags, or anything will still be edible in 50 years).

      Connect with your body and notice how good you feel when you eat healthy, clean food. How is your energy level and overall disposition?
      Make that feeling not just an occasional "good mood," but a consistent part of your daily life.

      Get a good night's sleep. Being tired can lead you to eat funky foods to feel energized. Try to use food only as fuel, not a drug.

      Get busy. Snacking is often a result of boredom. Either choose healthy snacks, or do something to entertain yourself.

      Beware of the sugar cycle. Little fungi in our bodies love sugar and want you to keep gobbling it up. Sugar is a very tricky and challenging addiction to get over. Don't kid yourself -- sugar is a drug, and it's legal and cheap.

      Eat to teach your kids. (That's right, the gloves are off and I'm hitting below the belt.) We teach our kids the habits they'll take into their adult life. Let's try to give them a chance at a healthy life. Show them the right way to eat.

      I believe that if we can tackle the nutritional part of our lives, the exercise part will be a lot easier. I think the most important first step is to become aware of what you are eating and why. Don't just shove anything you want in your mouth -- ask yourself, "What is this going to do to me and for me?"

      Obviously this is easier said than done!

      Just try and keep the junk food out of the house... or don't buy as much. Don't give yourself an assortment to crave, maybe buy one or two snake type things so that if you REALLY want it you can have it (to avoid going out and getting a drive thru fix or something and pounding down 1200 calories in 15 minutes). If you have too many choices in the house (do I want cookies? ice cream? cake? chips?) then you get excited and can't stop....

      You didn't say how far away your wedding is or what size you are at now so the diet you need to find will vary. I haven't actually used any fat burners off the counter that have actually worked since Xenadrine (the original back in 2000).... probably with the exception of the Alli pill. That pill doesn't do anything except block fat though... it doesn't burn anything for you. But taking in about half as much fat as normal can't hurt either....
      I've tried other pills to curb my appetite or speed my metabolism and they were all garbage and I didn't finish the bottle. I usually bought from GNC... so that means that the pills didn't work much for me.

      Maybe you should try to eat better, exercise and try Alli and see how that goes.

      Watch this video- It helps me get motivated! I don't want to be ripped but I should would like to have a better body! It's Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds explaining their exercise and diet routine getting ready for Blade Trinity. They ate several small meals loaded up in protein and would work out for like 4 hours every day. Clearly you don't have that kind of time in your day, but eating a diet like theirs and working out for 45 minutes every other day would make a HUGE impact for you!

      Whatever you do, don't use Hoodia or any of those other fat burning products. The real secret is.....Water!
      It works wonders, even if you're not on a diet it works.
      Here's what you do:
      Drink as much of it per day as you can, i'd try to aim for at least 2 litres a day.

      Drink a glass before each meal, another during the meal, and another after the meal.

      What the water does is makes you feel full so you'll eat less, and it also flushes out toxins from your body.

      And if you're working out as well, the weight should be well and truly gone in about a month.

    I eat VERY healthy and I exercise almost daily. I eat 5-6 small meals a day and I am VERY close to getting back to my old body after months months AND MORE MONTHS of hard work. I hit a plateau almost a month ago and no matter what I do I cannot get those last 6 pounds off. I even did the MASTER CLEANSE and other detox treatments.

      I'm all for a pill that works so that people can lose weight and be thin... but if it really existed, I am sure everyone would know about it quickly and I don't think so many Americans would struggle being at unhealthy weights. Detox work only because they flush out the liquids, not long term. Pills that do work have been dangerous and unhealthy. The diet industry plays off gimmics to make people feel bad about being average and normal. Perhaps your body has found its set point, It sounds to me like you are healthy, don't be a victim to the million dollar beauty and health industry, they will take your self esteem and money. check this out

    I am trying to lose about 80 pounds or so over the course of about 6 months, and cannot find any information except from the companies who make these products.       Just remember that with all the "fat" pills they always suggest that you also diet and exercise along with the pill. This is because it's the diet and exercise that does all the work. If there really was a pill that was that great, it would be the only one on the market since everyone would be using it.

      I suggest that you forget about the pills and look into a good diet and exercise program.

      If you have a good exercise workout program the amount of dieting that you would need would be less than if you didn't exercise at all or just did cardio. Expect to spend about 30-40 minutes a day doing some weight training along with a few targeted exercises.

      I know this doesn't sound simple , fast or easy but if you really do put effort into your exercise program you can see amazing results in just 4 weeks. A pill on the other hand would take longer.

Also you may be surprised that simply drinking a gallon of cold water every day also helps to burn fat because you body has to expend calories to heat this water to 98.6 degrees.       Im assuming you don't want a personal trainer? You should take up a hobby like cycling because it will benefit your legs for soccer as well as burn fat. If you make it a frequent hobby the more fat you will burn. But yeah it all comes down to how often you go to the gym. If you are going a few times a week (3 I'd say is optimum) then thats good. You shouldnt be lifting weights as much though. You should focus a lot more on cardio based gym routines. So spend hours just in the cardio section of the gym. It sounds gruelling i know, but it's all worth it in the end and you will feel all achieved afterwards. Another big step is your diet. You should try eat more healthy foods (obviously) and possibly not as much (quantity wise). Also completely stop with fast foods etc. It can be difficult but fast foods arent a necessity. Try find a food that tastes good and doesnt have a high fat/calorie count. You obviously like building muscle so don't stop that altogether. Keep up with it because it turns fat into muscle. If you stick to all that (which is extremely achieveable when you break it down) you will be slimmer in no time at all. I'm no fitness instructor doing all this will get you a long way.

      I don't really believe in fat burners but to intensify your workout and burn more add kettlebell exercises. These burn about 20 calories a minute and could really jump start your weight loss again.

      My best advice is to keep going, but with some changes. Are you able to increase the maximum amount of weight you can lift over time? If you are not seeing an increase of at least a few pounds lifted every month (you should as much as double your max in the first few months), then it is possible that you are not lifting properly.

      In order to gain strength and muscle mass, you should be lifting 3 non-consecutive days per week (such as Mon-Wed-Fri with Sat and Sun as consecutive off-days). I would recommend doing full squats every workout day (Many experts agree that this is the most beneficial exercise you can do, as almost every muscle group works to stabilize and handle the weight) if you are not doing them. This will give you a huge jump in your appearance and strength if you have never done them before, especially if you have done other lifting regularly.

      I would recommend the following schedule. You would start your first week doing workout A on Mon and Fri, and B on Wed...however on the next week you would do B on Mon and Fri, and A on Wed (and so on).

      Workout A
      3x5 Squat
      3x5 Bench Press
      1x5 Deadlift

      Workout B
      3x5 Squat
      3x5 Press
      5x3 Power cleans

      Make sure that if you have not done any of these before, you consult a professional before beginning your routine, as many of these (especially the squats) can cause serious injury unless done properly. An unbelievable number of people severely bruise their top vertebrae because they try to rest the bar on their neck instead of near their shoulder blades, for example, so I cannot stress getting first-hand help for the first time. If you go to a gym, feel free to ask an attendant; that's what they're there for.

      Make sure that your diet is also conducive to your fitness. Are you eating oats or a similar breakfast heavy in complex carbohydrates? Make sure that you also eat eggs and other foods high in protein (some people recommend as much as 1g protein per pound of body weight per day).

      Also, make sure that you do however much weight you have to so that once you hit about 4 repetitions in a set, you feel like you can't do anymore...then when you start the sixth, you literally could not lift it to save your life. Some recommend 8-10 reps, but if you can do 12 reps or more without rest then you need to up the weight. What you're doing is pushing your muscles until the fibers slightly tear and are damaged...muscle is built because your body has to rebuild itself stronger to compensate. If you don't push to the point of exhaustion on each set, then you might have to lift for 2-4 times as long just to get the same benefits.

      As far as spot training, you lose fat in the order you put it on. There is NO WAY (other than liposuction) to reduce the fat in a targeted part of your body. As far as abs, they are more a matter of how little body fat you have: you may have abs, but it is harder to see abs if there is body fat over them.

      There are thousands of weight loss and workout programs online, and the general rule is that if it seems easy (like 15 minute, low-impact exercises that don't make you even break a sweat twice a week, for example), then they're not going to do anything. If you want to get fit, you must remember that it is going to take a lot of work, you will go through a good deal of pain and discomfort; yet at the end you will end up much healthier and better looking as a result.

      Fat burning pills can be used as a supplement to a weight loss program- however, they can't solely be used without diet and exercise- they will do nothing.

      If you are dieting and exercising though, a fat burner may help to give you a little boost. There are many different typed of fat burners, ranging from mild to intense, and some have different foci. Some fat burners are geared to give you energy, while others claim they will suppress your appetite. Some of the more intense fat burners (esp. if you are not used to them) can give you a jittery feeling, a racing heart, etc., symptoms similar to way too much caffeine.

      If you are looking for energy, look for fat burners with caffeine or green tea extract. If you are looking for appetite suppression, look for fat burners with guarana or hoodia.

      Some fat burners have to be cycled, so be careful and always follow the directions- if it says not to consume other caffeine sources, make sure you stay away from other caffeine sources!!

      It depends on the pill how long it will take- I would give it anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 weeks to start seeing significant results.

      There is no such thing as a diet pill, liquid, powder, or fat burner supplement!
      Got it?
      Think about it. If any of this garbage worked, why would 2/3 of the adults in the US be overweight, obese, or morbidly obese? We would be lined up without having to spend a dime advertising if someone had the magic formula.
      Alli is the only over the counter weight loss pill approved by the FDA. There are only three prescription weight loss medications approved. Do you think that if any of them REALLY worked we would have a billion a year industry in "weight loss" supplements?
      The big three pharmaceuticals would dominate the market.
      Approved or otherwise, none of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program.
      So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money?
      You will be spending somewhere between and per day on a product that is not approved or guaranteed to do anything!
      The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin.

      And yes they are dangerous. Heart, liver, kidney, intestinal, and neurological damage and death have all been the result of diet pills. That is why the FDA hasn't approved any new ones for 14 years.
      These supplement manufacturers are using human guinea pigs (you) for these products. As long as no one gets sick or dies, and they don't get fined or shut down they will keep making and selling this junk. Whether it works or not.

      I say it over and over and over. "If any one of these products really worked, why are there so many?"

      i hate to admit that hydroxycut did help me a few times... my doctor actually had to cut me off of it though. it's very hard to stop taking. the energy crash is absolutely not worth it. i'd try something a little more gentle... i have been very pleased with a product called lipotropic from apex. you can only get it in certified health clubs or on their website apexfitness.com. aside from their products, the only other things i've EVER been really pleased with were made by xience. you can get those at any gnc or similar store. keep the cardio high... that will help with your waist by increasing your heart health. (these are connected) good luck, and be safe. please follow the directions on anything you take... it loses it's effect and more importantly becomes unsafe if you do not.
