      I have been on a extreme diet lately that has caused me to loose around 40 pounds in just a month and a bit. It is very drastic but it works and as long as you have the willpower then I think that it'd be a good way for you to see results.

      Basically I have been on a non-existant carbohydrate diet. This means I have cut out all breads (this includes brown bread), all pasta, all rice and potatoes. Instead of having cereal for breakfast I will normally have two rice cakes with some tinned tomatos! Either that or fruit salad with a few table spoons of low fat yoghurt.

      Cutting out the carbs really had such a great effect, I stuck to salads and stir frys instead of sandwich's and pasta. The weight will literally fall off of you however sometimes you tend to become grumpy and slighty tired. It is worth it though if you are looking for fast results. It's encouraging as you can see it really working.

      Also, I combined this with a low fat diet. No cookies, cakes, crisps, sweets or chocolate (a few squares of dark chocolate every other day doesn't do any harm!). This means I also limit my intake of cheese and milk and have yoghurt as a treat. It works wonders and it is quick, if you have cravings then snack on fruit of nuts, which are packed full of good fat and keep your blood sugar levels high which keeps your metabolism up.

      Eat protein as it increases muscle mass which speeds up your metabolism, so does chillis and green tea. Try and have a glass a day!
      Combine this diet with 30 minutes of exercise a day (I like swimming as it tones as well as burns fat) then you will see really fast results.

      Allow yourself a treat from time to time to keep yourself motivated and remember your goal.

      My girl-friend has had a horrible past with this stuff. She's actually doing very well now, losing weight and exercising. All you need to do is eat a smaller amount of food than you do on a regular basis. No extreme dieting, nothing crazy. Just cut down on every meal you have. Try not to have so much bread, milk or even so many fruits. Remember all those calories/carbohydrates add up. Start having a yogurt for breakfast with a banana. For lunch make yourself a Tuna sandwich with Wheat Bread. For dinner, don't eat any FULL sized meals with rice. Rice takes so long to digest and it's a carb-bomb. Try selecting chicken & salad and other lower carb replacements. Remember, your body needs to break down the food you eat and then break down your fat in the body. Go on the treadmill for 45 mins a day, 4 times a week (NO MORE). If you don't own a treadmill join a gym. If you don't have money for a GYM, then simply go for a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. Remember to take vitamins and starving yourself is the WORST thing anyone can possibly do to their body.

      Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

      Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

      Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

      Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

      Vary your routines. Don't eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn't adjust to any one routine.

      An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

      2. Breakfast- piece of fruit and a granola bar (250 calories)
      3. Lunch- pack of crackers and a piece of fruit (260 calories)

      To lose fat:
      1. DON’T BELIEVE THOSE FAD DIETS! DIET PILLS ARE GIMMICKS!
      2. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! Unless you are 4ft tall, a 1,200 calorie a day diet is DANGEROUS and won't work in the long run.
      3. Calculate your BMR. Do a google search. A good calculator would ask for your age, height, weight, and activity level.
      4. Eat healthy and eat about 500 calories a day less than your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Your BMR is how many calories you need per day to maintain your current weight.

      5. Drink at least 64oz (8 8oz glasses) of water a day. No soda (that includes diet soda).
      6. Do light/moderate cardio 3 to 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes each time. Running, bicycling, and swimming are great for this.
      7. Do some strength training to make sure you lose fat and not muscle. Don't worry; you won't look like the hulk if you lift weights.
      8. You should lose about 1-2lbs per week. If you lose more than that, chances are the rest is stool, water weight, or even muscle mass.

      Every single crash diet out there will net you about 10 pounds in a week, possibly less time. It is not true wieght loss and everything you lose will quickly come back.

      Even the most unhealthy way you can think of WILL result in weight gain because you are fiddling with your bodies metabolism, but ultimately not your behaviour and thus you will gain more weight in the end.

      Best thing to do is a calorie reduced diet and exercise. If you do it this way, you will change your behaviours for the better and you will keep the weight off and ultimately remain healthy.

      Edit: If you are weight training, you will plateau at many times during fat loss. Its not a bad thing, you are losing fat and building muscle. Since muscle wieghs more than fat you may see improvement (look better, compliments, clothes fit better etc) but you won't see a change on the scale.

      Muscular strength & endurance-you need a good resistance training program that includes exercises for all muscle groups(hips, chest, upper and mid back, legs (quads and hamstrings), shoulders, lower back, upper arms (biceps and triceps), calves, forearms, abdomen, and the gluteus maximus).
      Your intensity should be 70-80% 1-RM or 8-12-RM, 8-12 reps, 1 or more sets, 3 times a week for 6 weeks or more. You should begin with 1 exercise for each major muscle group and make sure the days you do resistance training are not consecutive meaning you don't exercise the same muscle group two days in a row. As you continue your program you can add more exercises, add weight, and change up your program to include more days or just work specific muscle groups on specific days. As your muscles grow stronger you will be able to reduce the rest time between each set. You should rest for about 30 seconds between sets. Muscle is metabolically active and therefore when you gain muscle it burns more calories and helps to raise your metabolism.

      Body Composition-this includes your body fat percentage, bone frame, as well as how much muscle you have. Most people focus on only weight, but you should not put as much focus on that as much as what your body fat percentage is (get it tested at an exercise facility with skinfold calipers). You should also get circumference measurements done. This includes your neck, shoulder, chest, waist, abdominal, hip (buttocks), thigh (proximal), thigh (mid), thigh (distal), knee, calf, ankle, arm (bicep), forearm, and wrist. You should be able to do this at a gym. You should get all of this information done before you start your program and then you can see how you improve.

It also has an effect on all your other programs. You should perform 10-12 flexibility exercises every day. Slowly stretch the muscle to a point of mild discomfort but not necessarily pain. Hold stretch for 10-30 seconds, and do 3-5 reps for each stretch. This should take about 15-30 minutes per session. If you do not have time to do this every day, try to do it 2-3 times a week.

      Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we've known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

      Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

      Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

      Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house.       In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

      Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

      Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

      Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

      Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

      Vary your routines. Don't eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn't adjust to any one routine.

      An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

      You need to tone up(as you said). By lifting weights AND doing cardio, you'll be very trim. Here is my typical diet which is low-fat high protein...great for minimizing fat and building muscle.

      its better to eat more than less...if you dont eat your body uses its muscles for energy and you lose your muscle, therefore, burning less calories during the day. eat when your hungry and stop when your full. cut back your calories maybe a few hundred...it helps me when i write out what i eat. don't EVER be discouraged though...tell yourself well at least i feel better from working out and if you keep encouraging yourself and being positive, you will probably end up pigging out less and being healthy and losing weight. plateus happen all the time during workouts btw. you need to change the workout and confuse the body if that happens. the BEST site ever is fitnessmagazine.com. you need to make a account and they have the GREATEST workouts ever.       sucking in your stomache is used to strengthen your abs, back, and straighten you up. I did this in physical therapy because I always slouched and had back issues. your muscles will get stronger and after a while you start losing fat in your stomache

      There's no safe way to lose weight this soon after csection. You're still healing from a major surgery. You can talk to the Dr about what you can do that wouldn't cause rupture, where the uterus can rip itself back open. Go to walmart, and spend on a fluctuating corset. It's not a stationary one like you'd find at Victoria's Secret. It still holds you in, while having the elasticity to expand, eliminating the chance of it hurting you. I got one after baby #3, it worked great.

      A good balance diet and exercise is the key.

      If you belong to a local gym. Try taking some SPIN or kickboxing classes. They burn lots of calories. Also do some weights to balance the cardio workout. If you don't belong to a gym try riding a bike outdoors.
