Grazing animals such as cows and sheep have the ability to change grasses into food. These grazing animals are considered ruminants. In the 1930's a high quality corn yield was 50 bushels per acre. By the 1960's yields in excess of 200 bushels per acre were not that unusual.

The meat producers quickly recognized that they could decrease the maturity rate for their cattle by producing them in the feed lot. In the middle of the twentieth century, it was taking four to five years to forage cattle to maturity. By producing the livestock in the feed lot, this time to raise the cattle to the point of slaughter, was reduced to 14 to 16 months.
Whenever there are radical changes in any of the customary methods of production, the law of unintended consequences raises its hideous head.

To take beef cattle from it birth weight of 80 pounds to its slaughter weight of 1200 pounds, in such a reduced period of time, requires altering the animal's diet from its normal food to grain and growth hormone supplements.

The growth hormones are purposely designed to assist quick weight gain. Any remaining amounts in the end products would make a consumer gain weight beyond their ordinary tendency.

In addition to these quite dangerous circumstances in the quality of the meat being currently produced, the variation in the health benefits are absolutely astounding. The ratio of Omega6 to Omega3 helps to dictates the inflammatory condition of the human body. The meat from grazing livestock is a very health ratio of 5:1, while the meat from feed lot animals is an unhealthy 25:1.

In addition to this healthy Omega6/Omega3 ratio the meat contains a much higher amount of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA is associated in the distribution of lean to fat tissue and also seems to delay cancer risk.

Vitamin E is four times as high as feed lot meat and has been {shown| revealed to have important benefits to heart health.

Neither Great Britain nor the European Union will consent to the importation of beef products from the United States because of our use of the antibiotics and the growth hormones used for accelerating weight gain.

      I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

      Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

      First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

      This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

      However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder.       Well, i'm probably not gonna be the first one to say this but you probably wont loose 2-3 dress sizes in just 20 days.
      You will probably loose 1-2 pounds a week so basically,
      the most you will loose is 6-8 pounds in 20 days,
      But i'm not gonna waste you're time telling you that.

      Here's a diet plan and workout routine that works for me.
      - 60 minutes of cardio ( walking, running, stridding, swimming, dancing etc..)
      - 5-10lbs of weights ( light weight lifting you're trying to be trim not gain muscle)
      - abdominal workouts ( crunches, sit-ups, etc..)
      - 10-20 minutes on the tredmile.

      Meal Plan-
      ( 900- 1100 calarie intake for fast and safe- dieting)

      Breakfast- 3/4 of high fibre cearal ( mini wheats, cherrios, bran-flakes, special K, etc..) with skim milk, and fruits and nuts added with it.

      alternative- 1 slice of whole wheat bread, with 1-2 tbsp of peanut butter, or jam. with a peice of fruit, and fat-free activia yogurt.

      Snack- fruit,

      alternative- 100 calarie snack packs ( comes in cookies, chips, cheetos, bars etc..)

      Lunch- 2 slices of whole wheat bread, with 2 slices of lean turkey breast, lettuse, tomatoe, and frenches mustard ( 0 calaries) - No mayo!
      And also have a sugar-free jello which is only 5 calaries, and some berries.

      Snack- fruit

      Alternative- 100 calarie snack packs ( comes in chips, doritos, cheetos, cookies, bars, etc.. )

      Dinner- Grilled chicken/ salmon, with 1 1/2 cups of vegetables.

      Alternative- Lean cusine frozen entree , or wholesome advantage frozen entree ( under 270 calaries )

      i lost about 8lbs. in a week doing the cabbage soup diet. i also drank a lot of water(sometimes adding a little crystal light), went for a walk, and took Salmon Oil 1000mg. softgels. you can find these at any vitamin store and they are better than the standard 'weight loss' pills. making little changes in your diet will go a long way.

      definitly remeber to keep it healthy - no matter how desperate the weight loss is needed.
      i've done fasts etc, and they are really very short term and actually must better for detoxifying than weight loss, so won't help much for this. better is just strict, smart monitoring of your excercise and food.
      basically, it sounds like your excercise amount is good - so just watch your calorie intake/vs outtake. make sure your caloric intake is less than the amount you burn during the day, through excercise or just basic body functions. to do this, work out for your height/sex/age/etc what your intake should be (http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm may help with that), and either google or grab a book detailing the calories in your food, and the calories you burn in your excercise. this will also give you good ideas about what excercises would be better for weightloss (eg, running).
      i've definitely found it helpful when i've needed to lose weight to write down details like this so you remember what's going in/out.
      if you do that, and make sure that the food's your eating are healthy, wholegrain and don't have too much unnecessary/unhealthy fat (rely on fish, nuts, avocados etc for healthy fats), then you are guaranteed weightloss, you'll be able to understand and control. and it's a practice for life.

      other little tips that may help
      1. drinking water, particularly warm water ie, peppermint tea keeps you feeling fuller, as well as helping your body out and keeping skin gorgeous :) similarly, i find chewing on ice, or frozen juice can help when you are craving food you know you don't actually need.
      2. try not to reward yourself with food - if you are doing well and being really healthy, don't give yourself chocolate or chips as a reward - take a long bath, get your nails done, go out for coffee with friends instead
      3.watch alcohol intake - the calories in that are useless and surprisingly high
      4. stick sticky notes up on your fridge or mirror reminding you of your goal

      Basic Diet Consists of 3-4 days of eating the following foods at each meal (4-5 meals/day):
      4-5 oz of fish, chicken, lean beef, turkey
      4 cups of veggies of these types (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussell’s sprouts, collard greens, spinach) - these are usually frozen and I measure out 4 cups total of any combination of them
      1 tablespoon olive oil
      seasonings to taste (salt, pepper, hot sauce, soy sauce - anything without calories). No need to limit salt intake here if you like to salt your foods.

      Supplements consist primarily of:
      Specially formulated blend of Antioxidants
      Specially formulated blend of High-Potency B-Vitamins
      Ripwire
      Branched Chain Amino Acids (a lot!)
      Several other esoteric supplements like 7-Keto (I’ll go into these in detail at a later time).

      Remember what I’ve been eating along the way and still lost all this fat. I’ve done so NOT in spite of what I’ve been eating (important!!!), but a result of WHAT I’ve been eating, INCLUDING all of the junk food. Junk food has ACCELERATED MY FAT LOSS to this point.

      This means if you want to get to a significantly good shape, you DON’T have to give up your favorite junk foods. In fact, you should PLAN THEM into your diet every 3-4 days. If you don’t, then you WON’T get the results you’re after — TRUST ME!

      Then, when and IF… your progress stagnates should you then do the restrictions I mentioned I’ll be doing over the next 3 weeks.

      Im actually going on this wacko diet that I saw on tv just to test it out. It's where you just drink this drink Beyonce made famous and supposedly worked wonders. I think she lost like 20 lbs in 10 days!? Im not sure if that's even physically possible but I want to see so maybe you might want to try that with me?

      Oh and another thing these diets should absolutely be short term not like a month or even 2 weeks. It can be very very dangerous if you do it longer.

      Recipe--> The Master Cleanse Diet is a fast during which no solid food is consumed. Instead, people on the cleanse drink purified water spiked with lemon juice, Grade B maple syrup and cayenne pepper. A laxative tea or saltwater drink may also be consumed to help get things moving once the impurities start releasing from the body.

      The basic recipe for the Master Cleanse Diet is as follows:

      two tablespoons lemon or lime juice, preferably fresh-squeezed from organic citrus (about half a lemon or lime) two tablespoons genuine Grade B maple syrup (not maple flavored syrup)

      a pinch of cayenne pepper or to taste

      eight ounces of water (many people recommend purified or filtered water) cold or at room temperature.

      Mix all of the ingredients and drink.

      Burroughs recommends drinking between six to 12 glasses daily during the course of the cleanse. No food should be consumed, just drink whenever you are hungry.

      Before bedtime and first thing in the morning, you can either drink a cup of herbal laxative tea or do what’s referred to as “salt water bathing.”

      Mix two teaspoons of sea salt, not table salt, with a quart of water and drink morning and evening. This is designed to help flush impurities from the body.
