      I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far.
      I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it.
      1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
      2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
      3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

      It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

      Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down.       Despite popular belief it is not terrible to eat after 6 p.m. A reasonable dinner (with extra protein if you've had a good weight training session) is going to help deliver nutrients to the body to prepare it for the next day. Additionally if you find yourself very hungry before bed, a small bowl of high fiber cereal and low fat milk will actually help maintain your metabolism while you sleep. The key is to not overeat in the evenings.
      Take a multivitamin. While it is better to always get your nutrients from your food, most people miss something in their diet, especially when they're trying to cut calories.       If you find yourself missing some of your favorite foods, don't worry. There is no harm in having your treat once a week. Pick a day each week where you treat yourself to your guilty pleasure--remember, everything in moderation.       You cannot lose weight without eating healthfully and exercising. There is no magic pill to take, or else nobody would be overweight. Also, if you lose weight quickly, your metabolism will slow down and you will gain the weight back and possibly more. A good goal is 1-2 pounds per week.

      Eat lots of fruits and veggies - the high fiber and water content will help you feel full longer. Eat whole grains. Do not drink pop/juice/kool-aid or any other high sugar drinks. Snack on fruit instead of cookies or other unhealthy foods. No fast food.

      You will have to exercise. Start with 10 or 15 minutes a day and work your way up. You could do 10 minutes in the morning, afternoon, and at night, so that you don't have to do a big chunk all at once. Ideally, you should get an hour of exercise a day. Find something you enjoy. Skating, walking in the park, jump roping, aerobic tapes, etc. You can even walk up and down the stairs.

      Humans are made to exercise. That is why there is such an epidemic of overweight/obesity today. We used to have to hunt/gather our own food, walk to the river for water, build shelters, etc. Our bodies haven't changed much since then, since it takes millions of years to evolve.

      Breast feeding alone helps you lose weight. You don't really want to try slim fast right now or any heavy exerscice program, your bodies needs alot of calories to produce breast milk. I would suggest getting a pilates video, they have ones that have 10 minutes of excercising then you can stop and continue later. Very nice for a busy mom. After you wean do the slim fast thing add some high engery cardio, and some sort of resistence training, all of this you can do at home.

      The key word here needs to be 'safe'. There are ways to lose weight quickly but you want it to be safe and you want it to stay off. Honestly, the best way to do that is to lose it slower but since I perfectly understand what you are looking for and why you want to do it, my suggestion is to eat 5 times a day (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner). Keep your calorie and fat intake low (cals at 1200 a day and fat no more than 30 a day). Lots of water, as much as you can stand, and excercise you butt off...literally! I suggest walking or hitting the treadmill so you dont over do it at first. You will feel better after only a few days and that in itself will help to motivate you to keeping to it.

Losing one, maybe two pounds a week is safe and effective, meaning a weight loss plan that will keep the weight off. Exercise and a reasonable diet that minimizes extra portions. Don't be afraid to push yourself a bit on the exercise, especially if you are in your teens or 20's.
    I wish I could copy and paste this answer/question into about 100 of the "how can I lose weight quickly?" posts.

      Do situps and not just the straight up and down ones because although they will help they wont do it all. You also should do sit ups to your sides to get the muscles running diagonal through your tummy.

      Lift weights for your arms, repition is more important than how heavy they are if you're just trying to tone your body.

      Lie down and pretend like your riding a bycicle.

      Do scissors (where you lie down and lift one leg up in the air over and over)

      And that person that told you to run clearly didnt read your question because if you cant walk, you cant run.

      Other than that, follow what the other people said about dieting. But just so you know, if you lose 15lbs in a week or two, you lost water weight, which is totally useless to you because you'll only put it back on and be disappointed (also, I heard that water weight doesn't show, so if thats true, then losing 15lbs in water weight wont make you look any better) just eat right. And you do need some meat because without iron and protien, you aren't going to do your body much good.

      Oh, and its total B*S that diet drinks wont make you gain weight, they will! Just because they don't have sugar doesn't mean you can still drink them! and FYI, all carbinated drinks are bad for your health.

      I'm sorry, there's really no such thing as a safe diet pill. They almost all contain stimulants that can damage the cardiovascular system, and then there's Alli, which can give you explosive diarrhea, so I don't think you want that pill either.

      Diet and exercise should work perfectly fine. I think you're probably either not giving it enough time (you should give it at least a month before you decide you're not seeing results), or you aren't dieting or exercising right.

      As for your diet, you should be eating high protein, high fat (saturated not trans, and no that's not unhealthy), low carb, low sugar. Keep your calorie intake around 1500 a day, carbs around 100-150 g a day, and as little added sugar as you can manage. Make sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies too.

      And you need to push yourself when you exercise. A nice easy pace won't do anything. You have to get sweaty, tired, and work hard. If you don't feel tired when you're done, if you're not out of breath, you're not doing it right. And you need to do both cardio and weight training, but on different days. Try and work out for at least an hour, 4-6 days a week.

      Many people eat 'healthy foods', but still in the wrong quantities. I know it's a pain to do, but counting calories really makes it painfully obvious where you're getting those extra calories that you don't need from which are preventing you from losing weight.

      Write down everything you eat every day. Make sure you measure out portions sizes with a small scale or measuring cups and spoons - most people overestimate by 30% or more, so don't guess. Aim to eat no fewer than 1200 and no more than 1500 calories each day.

      Also make sure you're getting the correct balance of foods - most people over do the grains (you only need 6 servings a day, and when an average bagel contains 3-4 servings these days it's really easy to see how people over do it. Pasta is another one that fools so many - a 'serving' of pasta is just 1/2 cup. Most people sit down to 1.5-2 cups at dinner). Most people also under do it when it comes to veggies - we're supposed to be getting about 2.5 cups of veggies and 1.5 cups of fruit a day, which is a lot more than the average person does.

      Also watch your juice intake (1/3 cup of apple juice is a serving size equivalent to a whole apple, but most people drink a huge glass because it's a 'healthy' food), and if you're eating any meal replacement, or quasi-healthy bars make sure you read the calorie content carefully. You're much better to have a salad with chicken on it than these bars.

      Plan ahead and have small snacks between meals (counting the calories of course), to keep hunger at bay.

      If you dine out, look up the nutritional information for the restaurant ahead of time to pick something healthier to eat. You'll also find that most restaurants are serving enough for a full 2-3 people on every plate these days which is part of the reason as a society we've forgotten what a proper serving looks like.

      Keeping your calories low does work pretty fast. I managed to lose just 16lbs over several months before starting with a dietitian. What I described to you above is what she's been teaching me to do - and I've now lost just a little over 2lbs a week for just over 4 months now.

      Diet pills don't fix the problem - even if they cause you to lose a little bit of weight, even if they were safe, they'd still don't teach you really how to eat properly and in the correct portion sizes. At best, they buy you some time, but time and not knowing how to eat properly will catch up with you and the weight will come right back on when you stop taking the pills.

      I can give you a daily routine that worked for me.

      Wake up a little earlier than usual. Spend fifteen minutes in bed listening to music and stretching - it's actually very uplifting, and it will give you enough strength to get out of bed happy.
      Take a shower if you'd like. It's helpful as well. Use fresh scents in the shower like mint or lemon to fill up your senses (especially if you're not a morning person.)
      Later, boil some water and squirt fresh lime or lemon juice in your cup. This is sort of a detox without actually detoxing. It's invigorating and cleanses your body of mucus and such. Have plain oatmeal for breakfast, with as much brown sugar as you'd like, or try some Special K instead. Vanilla Almond is delicious. With it, have half of a grapefruit and some water or V8 to drink.

      The rest is kind of tricky if you work early hours or go to school. Usually after breakfast I take a thirty minute jog or walk. You can take as long as you want, but please make it above fifteen. This boosts a sluggish metabolism and it's really the easiest and best exercise you can do for yourself. Try this everyday or every other day - but whenever you have some free time.

      Then get on with your day. If you feel a little hungry have a smoothie or a V8. Yogurt, baked crackers, lemon, grapefruit, apples and almonds are all fantastic snacks. Anything is good, really, as long as it's low in fat, carbs or calories.

      As for lunch, make yourself a light sandwich. Tomatoes, lettuce, turkey, avocado and maybe even some mayonnaise or cheese is very filling and usually what I like to eat. You can use white bread if you'd like, it really doesn't matter. Have a V8, a smoothie or something else you enjoy drinking. For the next two weeks, stay away from coffee, sodas (even diet) and fruit juice like Fruitopia and such. Make your own juice if you can. If not, just buy something organic and natural.

      Have a small snack if you're still a tad hungry.

      For dinner, have what you'd like, but keep the portions small and the food light. Cod, sweet potato, chicken breast are very good for dinner. Have a small glass of wine if you'd like to. Salad is a must - I usually like cucumbers, lettuce, lots of vinegar and some pepper - but you can pick and choose. Vinegars and liquid dressings are the best choice. Stay away from anything creamy like ranch or thousand island dressings.

      Some small exercises to do between meals are hullahooping, jumping jacks, jump rope or dancing. Sounds childish, I know, but they're actually wondrous and can help to tone your hips a little. They're fun, easy and you hardly even need to spend that much money. Sit ups and cardio are also very handy, but don't go overboard. You can do all of these while watching your favorite television show.

      End your day with a nice cup of hot green tea, and maybe that last half of grapefruit, too.

      You don't have to follow this strictly, and I know this is a little long but thank you for your patience and I hope that blouse will fit you perfectly by the seventeenth.

      Additionally, some of the weight you might be carrying can be just water weight. I heard on The John Tesh Radio Show that you should drink half your body weight in ounces.

      Example:
      Say that you weigh one hundred and sixty pounds.
      160 divided by two is 80. Therefore, you would have to drink eighty ounces of water a day. Get it? This was so absurd at first to me but it actually made a difference. Plus, the weight stays off.

      jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
      evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
      specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
      your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
      to work double on them. The best approach is this:
      1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
      weight, lower for overweight).
      2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
      3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
      an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
      stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
      for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
      that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
      will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
      body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
      move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
      to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
      guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
      pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
      crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
      ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

      Probably not. Any weight loss that is fast, is only temporary. When you lose weight quickly, it is because you lose water weight. What you should be trying to lose is fat, not water.

      I recommend the following:

      Make sure you eat breakfast. Skipping it only slows down your metabolism and can actually make you gain weight. You should have something good for you, like special K cereal with lowfat milk, or a banana.

      Eat a fat free yogurt 15 minutes before dinner. The yogurt helps your digestive system, is good for you and helps fill you up, so you won't eat too much at dinner.

      Salads are good, but don't load them up with junk. Stick to lettuce and tomatoes. Cheese is too fattening. If you want to have meat on the salad, make sure it is something like lean chicken (not crispy fried!). Also, use a fat free dressing. A lot of people think that just because they are eating a salad, it is good for them, but regular dressings can have as many calories as a cheeseburger!

      Also, if you want a late night snack, choose something healthy, like salsa and low-fat tortilla chips. But only eat a serving.

      The most important thing is to eat slowly. If you eat fast, you can eat too much. It takes 15 minutes for you to feel full. You could gorge yourself until you feel full, and 15 minutes later, you'll feel even worse.

    I am 26 years old, weigh 160 and is 4 feet 11 inches and I've been watching what I eat and drink nothing but water.

    So the past month and a 1/2 I've been exercising every morning before I get ready for work. I walk with a 10% incline (I would go higher but that's all my treadmill goes up to) with a 3.0 speed which makes me burn 330 calories. But I haven' t seen any weight loss results do to my thyroid medication which slows down my metabolism. I recently got seen for my thyroid and everything's normal so they said I can stop the medication and that I should be seeing weight lost results if I continue my exercise. Anyway, for the past couple of days I've been doing my exercise in the morning before I get ready for work and at night before bed. Will I get faster weight loss results by doing the same cardio work out twice a day and is it safe?

      I have used a trainer for years off and on. I am always told that my routine has to be changed every 6 wks. Doing the same thing over and over nets the same results. So if you bike one morning then run in the after noon. Good luck.

That's easy. If you're like most of us though, and it just takes diet and exercise, expect around 3 pounds a week.

    I am currently traveling the world and have gained a stone! I am only 5ft 2" and now at 9 stone, this is too big for me I'm unhappy with the way I look. Im currently settled in one place for 3 months and have joined the gym. Im trying to do 2x Body Pump sessions a week, 1x Body Combat and 1/2x of the normal gym - cardio and Pilate's machines. I need to lose a stone before November but I don't know how many calories I need to do this, I don't want to go into starvation mode but I don't want to eat loads as i feel like I wont lose. Is 1200 enough for weight loss - I need to see a change soon or I get disheartened.

    I usually eat a yoghurt and hand full of grain cereal for breakfast, wholegrain wrap, tune and salad for lunch and a shake or omelette for dinner - I usually try and cut carbs out in the evening for 5 evenings a week.

    • ANSWER:
      First let me explain something, carbs are more fattening than fat, thats right, the "wholegrain wrap, cereal, and yoghurt." It's weird but true. Carbs turn into sugar quickly (even if whole grain,) and the sugar in the blood causes insulin, the insulin causes fat to be stored, and stops it from being burned. I don't condone going crazy and going on the atkins diet, but something to keep in mind is when you're wanting to lose weight, cutting down on carbs (whole grain as well, because it still releases the same amount of sugar in the blood even if at a slower rate from the fiber) is more important than cutting down on fat.
      Second thing, do very high intensity cardio or weight training. Very high intensity exercizes (like mountain climbers, weight lifting) burn more fat in 10 or even 5 minutes, than walking or running for an hour. The reason is, the high intensity exercizes may not burn as much during the exercize as walking or running, but it creates somethin gcalled afterburn which means your body continues to burn fat long after the exercize is over (you can do an internet search on it.) Dependng on how intense your exercise is, your body can continues burning fat for up to 2 days and burn twice as much fat in 100 or 5 minutes, than an hour of regular cardio.

We are into martial arts, together, we train about 6 hours total a week. 1-1/2 hour sessions, 4 days a week. I would never tell my beautiful girl that she is fat. I have nothing but praise for her and her accomplishments. I am concerned for her health and her future. Since I have never had a weight gain problem I do not know exactly how to help her with the task ahead, but am willing to do what ever is necessary to provide the guidance and support needed to help her succeed.       Read this book from library, "You are not sick you are thirsty" he explains a lot about water and sea salt. He says most of our problems w/health is dehydration. I have tried it and it has worked on several things. One thing is the stomach area, water and "sea salt" very inexpensive compared to health, doctors, hospitialization, etc.. He explains about weight and water so it is understood easily. I can not exercise or walk, so was looking for other help. I also quit wanting cokes, teas, coffee, which I had something in my hand 24 X7, I did not try to get off my Pepsi or good sweet tea, just didn't want it anymore, after I started on the water program. I was so bad that when I got up at 2 or 3 in the morning, I would get a glass before I go to back to bed drink it and take another one with me. Now I occasionally drink a glass of tea. I NEVER was a water drinker, didn't like it. But he showed me it works. I dont' drink it now because I love it, I drink it because it has proven it works. But you can't forget the sea salt. It maybe be something that helps her too, and a lot of others who have health issues, and weight is a health issue.
      If you can get her to walk, maybe you and her set up a time to walk for a little bit every day, either early morning or after dinner for 15 or 20 minutes, would help. My daughter is doing that and rotating days walking/ and exercise video to change up things, because of boredom. She started off with 3lb weights and only been doing it a couple of weeks and you can see a big difference . In the video, they do some floor exercises, some things standing, stepping (which we have no step, so she just does it in place, or on books sometimes. Arms are getting smaller, because they do the floor things too, it helps w/the ab area, hips, thighs ....It only takes 20 or 25 minutes. She is a big girl, sounds like she has the same spare tire problem as your daughter, and no matter what she put on, it was the problem area you had to see if it looked right. Clothes look good on her eventhough she is a "big" person, just in the midsection it looked really bad, it is now looking a lot better.

      also try to set a time, like maybe 7:00 and no eathing after that. I have a niece who does this when she wants to loose weight and I am always amazed at her, when she feels she has gained too much, she just says I am not going to eat after 7 pm and does not change her diet, and she looses.

      But I would reccomend you checking her diet and try to eliminate all the bad things and educate her, and teach her the best.
      Maybe this can be a dad/daughter challenge. Hey do the walks/exercise/water/healthy way of eating together. It will help to inspire her, and to motivate when you have a partner. Maybe there is a relative or friend her age that would also enjoy the fun.

      If my daughter was 14 again, I would enourage her to write a journal, if she doesn't already, to keep track of what she eats, and how she is trying to change, so that she is being held responsible and accountable to "herself" not to anyone else. If it is something she wants, she can help to motivate her and to encourage her. It would also be nice, for her to look back in her journal to read when you are no longer around and she has her grandchildren to read her journal and remember the days she spent w/her dad, and how he helped to get her on the right track to better health..........

      Just before my daughter,( who I will say is in her late 20's) started doing the walking/exercising , was on the weight watchers diet, for about 2 weeks, and that is something I would reccommend also to you, is to help her with it, it is easy to do. You count point, not calories, and is easy. She is no longer on the Weight Watchers, but I think she maybe getting back on it next week.

      . You can sign up on the internet and not have to go to meetings and they will help you out with it. I started it, and you dont' have to do with out all the foods you want, you just choose which foods you want to spend your points on, if you choose a piece of cake, you count to see how many more points you can have the rest of the day. It helps you to learn to be accountable.

      She was also drinking water, which she was not a water person either, but saw it was happening to me.

      The book was written by Dr. Batman (nickname) you should read the book, he has several books, another one is "Asthma, Allergies, Lupus" among others,they are all good, and I am not a reader normally. Just was desperate, for a little help, as my stomach area was so bloated, swollen, fat or what ever you want to call it, and after about a week, I could tell a big difference, I didn't have all that full feeling I had before and was given several compliments on looking like I lost some weight.

      I know this is hard for a young girl, as we have been through that too.
