Have you left it a little late to lose those pounds? Try this 2 day slim down but please remember that this is an emergency weight loss plan and not one that should be continued for any length of time. Your health is far too important and you should respect it. Long term weight loss is a great plan but gradual and slow should be the name of the game. However for those last minute panics, these tricks will work.

The first day of your plan should be a juice only day. This means either pure water with a squeeze of lemon or some home made unsweetened fruit or vegetable juices. The latter will help to give you some key nutrients to keep you going. A day drinking just juices will not cause most people any health issues but it is definitely not suitable for those who are pregnant, already underweight or have any existing health problems such as diabetes, heart disease or kidney problems.

When making vegetable and fruit juices, try to use organic produce where possible. Always wash the items carefully before preparation. This is particularly important if you cannot afford organic as you want to get rid of as much of the preservatives as possible. When using celery and other root vegetables include the stalks and leaves in the juice as a lot of the nutrients are contained here. If not using organic, it is best to remove the roots, stalks and leaves and dispose of them.

Try combining carrots and apples or raspberry and peach. Just juice enough for one serving and drink immediately as the nutrients start to disappear very quickly. You can drink as much as you would like but aim to consume at least 1.5 liters of water so you do not dehydrate. Water should be filtered and not carbonated or flavored.

On day two you can add some fruit to your diet. Fruit has a laxative effect so will help you to continue to lose weight by making your bowels move. It will stimulate your colon and so will increase the amount of waste eliminated by your system. Watermelon is a diuretic so will speed the passage of fluids through your system. Pineapple and Mango will help to stimulate the growth of good bacteria in your gut while grapes will help to counter the production of mucus which can clog your tissues.

Be sure to get plenty of rest and relaxation following this plan and you will probably want to stay close to home in case the laxative effect comes on rather suddenly. Following this 2 day slim down diet will help you to lose water weight and bloating, both of which will make you look slimmer.

The next stage it to cheat on the day in question. Dress for success and use whatever tricks you can find to make yourself look slimmer. This includes standing straight as correct posture makes us all look less weighty. Wear the right size clothes in colors that flatter your shape and draw attention to the good bits rather than the bad.

      I've been doing Atkins for over 5 years. It changed my life. You will lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

      If you starve yourself by lowering calories lower than are needed for the body to function, your body will freak out and will want to store every ounce in case it doesn't get nourished again. You need to give it adequate nourishment so it doesn't slow your metabolism down to adjust for lower calories.

      Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

      Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

      High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

      Dr.Atkins was a cardiologist, low carb was a health plan easier sold as a "diet" Read any of his books for easily understandable science. Lutz "Life without Bread" & Taubes "Good calorie, bad calorie" are excellent books that dispel all the nutrition myths.

      Once you get near your goal, you start adding 5 carbs every 3 days til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight. Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

    Emergency Weight Loss?
    I have been on a regular weight loss program for about 6 weeks. Healthy eating, cardio, and resistance training. I'm about 30 pounds over weight. I just found out about an event in two week that I must attend. I would like to lose an "unrealistic 10 pounds" by then. I'm willing to do cardio twice daily and I know that this plan is temporary.       If you don't care about your health and want to lose weight, starve yourself. You'll look horrible and your body will eat your muscle tissue instead of fat, then you develop an eating disorder etc etc. When you start eating again, you will definetly put it back on quicker than you lost it, it happens everytime, and you won't be able to starve yourself much longer than a week.

      If you want to be not retarded and lose fat, which is bad, instead of weight, which is good, eat more. Only bad food hurts you, good food helps you. 6 meals every 2-3 hours everyday with no skipping becuase speeds up your metabolism, keeps you satisfied, and burns more calories than 3 meals or less because your body is constantly working to digest food. Drink water, lots of it over soda/beer/fruit juices. Do cardio for 30-60 minutes, find out how many calories you burn daily (BMR + exercise) and eat 500 calories less than that (any less than 1200-1300 and you're starving yourself, when you starve you lose muscle, not fat, not having muscle is much worse and much more unattaractive than having a little extra fat).

      If you lose more than 1-2 pounds a week, eat more because it's unhealthy and you'll put it back on because your body can't ease into the transition.

      It takes work, time, and dedication to look good. If it were as easy as not eating for a week or running to the bathroom and vomiting after meals, everyone would look good. But they don't, and it isn't.

      1. Only drink your liquids when you're not eating anything

      REASON: If you drink anything while eating, it's going to be poorly digested due to the liquid washing out and diluting your mouth and esophagus enzymes. Those enzymes need a dry environment to break down foods as they transit to your stomach. So avoid liquids while eating whenever possible.

      2. Use raw fruits and vegetables before AND after meals

      Why? Because they have enzymes. As you can see, enzymes are a big deal to me. A lot of people have horrible Digestive Systems that are clogged up and taking forever for foods to exit your body. If you were to eat something like an apple a few minutes before a meal and a banana a couple minutes after the meal, this will help with breaking down foods into easier to handle, smaller pieces.

      3. Rub your belly after you eat

      I'm not joking! With 1 of your hands, just rub small circles over your belly. This stimulates better digestion. Do this for 1-3 minutes after each meal you have.

    I gave birth to my beautiful son 4 months ago and I've since lost 25kilos (i put a massive 34 kilos on because I was bulimic before I fell pregnant....so had to start eating properly for my baby which obviously meant I had to keep the food down)!!

I know that I have lost heaps already in a short amount of time however I seem to be STUCK at this weight (70 kilos) and want to lose 10 more FAST!       The thermic effect of eating, digesting, and other food energy related functions only account for 10% of your total BMR (basal metabolic rate). Now let's say these wonderful diet pills increase your thermic burn by 25%. That is a big change in any body function.
      So we have increased our caloric burn by??.... 50 calories per day! Or less than 1/2 pound per month. For about a month.
      That is why these bogus and often dangerous pills cannot get FDA approval. They simply cannot prove their outrageous claims with acceptable clinical evidence.
      A healthy diet of whole unprocessed foods will give you much greater results.
      Read these supplements and you will see each and every one of them says somewhere on the label it is a "dietary supplement'. Loopholes in the current laws allow peddlers to promote their products without accepted medical evidence to prove their outrageous claims.
      All this stuff is putting your liver and kidneys through a lot of unnecessary and potentially dangerous activity.

You could go on a healthy eating plan but i'd strongly suggest looking at your goal weight again. It's simply too much weight to lose in such a short space of time. Your going to either be a) disappointed wih yourself for not losing the weight or b) make yourself ill by starving.

      it depends how old you are but i just entered the info you gave and theres no way you can lose 6 lbs a week. BUT if you wanna lose 1 lb a week, youre 18 (i guessed? lol), and you dont work out almost at all, you shouldnt eat more than 1369 calories a day. good luck!!

    I was looking into gastric bypass surgery for emergency weight loss. I needed to know how much the surgery was though before I take out a loan to get it. I have called many places and tried to research it on the web but to no avail.

      In the North West of the USA Gastric bypasses are running about ,000.00. Lapbands are far cheaper at ,000.00.

      In Mexico you can get either proceedure at a fraction of the cost.

      As far as which you should get, that's tough. I chose the gastric bypass becasue I have over 100lbs to lose. If it's not that bad then I would personally choose lapband. Something to talk to your surgeon about :)

      It's not the healthiest, but if you "fast" you should be able to loose that in that amount of time. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't eat anything at all, but you can have a glass of juice for breakfast, a piece of high water fruit for lunch (like an orange) and a light meal for dinner (ie, spaghetti squash with grilled chicken breast) It's not a true fast, but I did this for part of lent, before my mom made me quit. I ended up loosing about 9.1kg in 28 days. Of course it was swim season too, so I was swimming about 4-5 thousand meters per day.

      1. Google www.aboutcabbagesoupdiet.com. It lists all the pros and cons of this diet. Follow it to a "T" and you can expect to lose approximately 7-10 lbs in a week, and approximately 10-13 lbs. in 2 weeks.

      2. Follow the quick-start program for the low-carb, high-protein Atkins diet. Go to lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/atkinsdiet/a/startatkinsdiet.htm to get an overview on this eating plan. The mainstay of this diet is vegetables and lean meat, i.e., baked or grilled meats, grilled or steamed vegetables, eggs, etc. but no bread, no potatoes, no crackers, cookies, etc. This diet is easy to follow as you have a lot of choices, but try your best to keep it very low fat at the same time, i.e., limiting cheese and high-fat dressings, etc. You should be able to lose 5-10 lbs. in two weeks. A Foreman grill or a knock-off of the grill is perfect for this kind of diet--you can grill chicken breasts, lean cuts of beef, and pork and any excess fat runs off into a drip-pan. Sample foods: You can have eggs for breakfast which is best if served with a side of Canadian back (because it is lean) although a couple slices of regular bacon are allowed.       Drink lots of water and do an hour of aerobic exercise a day (walking is fine).

    What could cause weight loss, vomiting, constipation, and dehydration in an older cat?
    His blood tests for his kidneys and diabetes came back normal and the emergency vet I took him to over the weekend said it wasn't worms either. I am just trying to get an idea of what to have his regular vet check for.

      It could be a ton of things. To attempt to diagnose it your vet should do a full blood workup - a CBC and a chem. That should give him a good idea as to where the problem is coming from. If nothing is found on the blood test an x-ray is in order. Be persistent with the vet to make sure you get an answer and are not just told that they can't find anything wrong. Clearly something is wrong.

      Since it is an older cat I would look into the possibility of cancer. The vet should be able to detect cancer on the blood work and x-ray though.

      Until you get a diagnosis though I would recommend that you have your vet give your cat IV/sub-q fluids a few times a week. You can also feed him pedialyte with an oral syringe and give him daily Nutrical to get him calories and nutrients.

      An unhealthy way to do it would be to have the vodka tonics in between meals and never with meals.

      Alcohol alone is not necessarily fattening but if you combine it with food then definitely. A lot of people who gain weight blame it on their alcohol intake but often it is all the snacks they have with it such as nuts and other fattening snacks. Some people, for example, will watch television with a few glasses of wine or a few stubbies of beer plus fattening snacks and that combination is very fattening.

      For the exercise, don't overdo yourself. Just walking, jogging for 1 hour each day will be more than enough. Rememeber to rest for 1 day of the week. Also, if 1 hour is too long for you, you can BREAK IT DOWN thorughout the day. Nobody said you have to get it all done in one shot, just do some after you wake up, some in the afternoon myabe, and sometime before or after dinner. It's more managaeable that way. Walking, jogging, running or swimming are aerobic/cardio exercises and they burn the most calories and fat. They will make you strengthen or build your muscle and keep you burning more calories and fat.

      I am a mom of 2 boys. I never had a c-section, but cardio mixed with Pilate's worked for me. Six months after my first baby I worked out 5-6 days a week doing 30 minutes of cardio and 4-5 days a week doing Pilate's. In 2 months my body was in better shape than before my baby was born. I gave birth 6 months ago with my second and haven't had the time/energy to start a routine. But I will soon... good luck and hope this helped.

      Here is my routine that I used for both children. I lost my 15 added pounds both times:

      Put baby on floor
      Baby gets bored, pick baby up
      Put baby in bouncy chair
      Baby gets bored, pick baby up
      Put baby in swing
      Baby gets bored, pick baby up
      Put baby back on floor
      Pick baby up immediately, she is screaming
      She didn't want to go back on floor just yet
      Walk up and down the hallway until baby is calmed down
      Stop walking to rest, there's a cramp in your leg
      Start walking again because baby starts to cry again
      Turn music on to soothe baby
      Start dancing with baby when just the music doesn't work
      Dance for three hours non-stop until baby falls asleep
      Put baby in crib for a nap
      Sit down, have a rest, it's well-deserved
      Pick baby up in 5 minutes when she realizes that you are trying to rest and starts crying again
      Begin routine again.

      Because in most of those cases your ill, when your body doesn't have the energy to digest food, or something bad or dangerous is happening, normally your survival instincts kick in, its temporary, you would need some serious drugs to wipe out your appetite using divorce fear or an emergency.
      This is not a diet, this is messing with your body.
      It is extremely unhealthy.

    My doctor has advised me to go on an extreme weight loss regimen. I have back problems that need to be looked at asap, but I need to drop about 60 pounds before I'm eligible for the surgery. I had a friend a while ago who lost thirty pounds in one month by drinking 3-4 shakes a day with 1 salad, he didn't even exercise. I need something that I can spend under 0 on a month. I read that Casein or soy are better than whey for meal replacements. I also need something more than 50% protein to other ingredients, obviously fat being the lowest ingredient. I know it's not the best weight loss plan, however, I have a medical emergency. If possible I would like to do 3-4 shakes a day as a meal replacement, with as much raw fruits, nuts, and veggies as I like in between.

    Postpartum weight loss and your period?
    I am trying on a theory about hormone regulation and weight loss and would love input from other mothers. However-- if you are one of those women who has a "magic metabolism," this question doesn't really apply to you-- you guys just go enjoy a cookie and try not to make me envious!

    I tend to believe in the 9 months up, 9-12 months back. With my first child (who was only partly breastfed and only until 5 months) it took me about a year to lose the baby weight-- but without really trying. When he was one, the weight (35 pounds) just started coming off. Then I got the flu twice and that helped and then I got a Mirena and dropped about 10 pounds overnight-- probably from the hormonal changes. (I can't use a Mirena again-- it made me quite insane.) My period came back about 8 months after my emergency c-section.

    I now have a 6 month old and seem to be in a similar situation: c-section, 30 pounds overweight, incision still tender, still no period, breastfeeding 50% (evening, night and morning.

    A friend was reminding me that we both went through the same thing with both of our babies-- slow weight loss and lengthy wait for the period to return. When I think about how the weight just fell off after my Mirena insertion, I think that maybe postpartum weight loss may be tied to the hormones normalizing and the period returning sometimes. Do any of you have any thoughts on this? It seems very logical to me.

      Breastfeeding delays periods. some maybe return quicker than others and some not. But of course, breestfeeding releases hormones that often delay ovulation. Hormones play a roll in weightloss very often but i will say ( no offense) there are a lot fo women i know who didn't lose their babyw eight because they just didn't ever do anything. They could blame it on whatever but they were just not moving much. If you're not exercising then it's common sense that it's gonna be ahad to lose the weight. Not saying it's like that for everyone but i know a lot of girls like that.

    Sound like a good plan? Mandatory weight loss programs for people who are "disabled" because of weight.?
    I'd like some feedback, positive or negative, on this idea. For people that are on Medicaid Disability due to their weight, should there be some mandatory diet/exercise counseling and planning.

    My thoughts on the matter might be a little biased. I work in health care and see this day in and day out basis. People coming into the emergency room with all sorts of complaints, underlying cause is their weight. Then you see these same people out in public at say the grocery store and their motorized cart is full of snack cakes and fried chicken. Meanwhile all of us foot the bill. There is no incentive for these people to lose the weight, because they would then lose the benefits.

    So what would everyone think of making it mandatory for people who collect disability for being overweight have mandatory dietary counseling and strict weight loss programs.
    maybe i should have excluded my thoughts on the matter.

    Im asking if it would be a good idea to enroll people in these programs, to help them not be disabled.

    My thoughts on the matter were stated because i know im biased on the matter. I myself am overweight and i smoke. I know its the pot calling the kettle black.

      What about people who have weight problems not caused by poor eating habits? What about people who can't afford fresh fruits and vegetables? Rice is cheap and so are macaroni noodles. Peanut butter for protein and what will you do with the peanut butter? Make a sandwich with bread or put it on crackers. It's a whole lot cheaper than a head of lettuce.

      How do you know that those people who are stocking up on chicken and snack cakes riding motorized carts don't have another problem, some people have weight problems because of genetics. I read several articles this summer and it was in the news that, gee, somebody has figured out that people may have "fat genes". What about the people who have severe thyroid problems? My daughter had a beautiful figure until she had to have her thyroid removed. Antidepressants and other medications can cause weight gain. Maybe some of those snack foods is all the pleasure that a person gets out of life or the eating is a symptom of depression that may or may not be under treatment. When my nerves get bad or I go through a depressed spell, I eat like a pig and smoke like a chimney. Cut off my Medicare and disability payments and then my family and I will be in the streets, I won't be getting my meds or seeing my psych. Who will take care of us then?

      I pay for my Medicare, almost 0 a month plus prescription coverage. I've paid into Medicare and Social Security since I was 18 years old and got my first job. I never gained weight until I had female, thyroid problems and I went on meds for ADD and bipolar disorder. All the women on my mother's side of the family gained a lot of weight during their childbearing years. Many on my father's side of the family were large, big boned people.

      Also I was on Premarin before I was 30. Not all women can keep their pre-pregnancy figure during and after menopause.

      To be educated enough to work in the health system, you're not very smart. Go back to school and put something in your head beside your liberal, let's do away with anyone that we don't like attitude.

      Frankly, I'm sick of people coming down on people who smoke and eat. OK, have separate rooms in restaurants with air filtering vents. Many places do. Have smoking areas designated in parks or other areas. Don't invade my home or tell me I can't smoke in my own car. Don't tell me that I have to pay .50 for a head of lettuce for a meal or two when I can get enough peanut butter and bread for .00 to last me for 5 or 6 days. Why get tough on people who want a soda once in a while? Seems like you people are forgetting all about those drunk drivers and taxing the hell out of them. My cousin was killed by a rich drunk driving kid who had an influential family. What did her 12 year old son get? Almost enough money so that he could go to college. Forget anything else. That driver got off virtually scott free while my cousin lays in her grave and her son is orphaned.

      EDIT: Programs may help some people, but many will struggle and be unsuccessful. So, the self-esteem will go down. And other than losing benefits, what are the penalties for the person who stays with the program, works hard, makes the effort with little or no results to show for it? How would you determine if that person is really working on it or not, have their home tapped with a video camera?

      I've quit smoking over 15 times (I quit counting after that). I quit 4 or 5 times cold turkey, I've used hypnosis, patches 3 or 4 times, that drug they came out with a while back, those old "One Step At A Time" filters for a long time. I even quit for 5 years and never got over the desire for a cigarette. I went through hell for 5 years until I couldn't stand it anymore (hypnosis was the most successful).

      Making such a program mandatory will only alienate people and cause hardships. Having the programs available for little or no cost as an option would be O.K. Unfortunately, everytime a step is taken like that it seems to eventually become "mandatory" I should have the right to choose to wear a seat belt. In the beginning, I had that right, but now it's gone. The Constitution of the United States says I have a right to bear arms, but many people and the government want to take that right away from me. I should be able to defend myself if I want or need to. What will happen when the government takes firearms, inluding hunting rifles? How would we defend ourselves against another Hitler, Castro or Sadam? Many believe we are closer than we think.

      Frankly, I think you got of the bus in the wrong town.

      The government has no right to mandate what food I do or do not eat, period.

    Anyway, i didn't go on it for 2 weeks while away at my partner, came back and i had put on 8lbs!!!

    So i decided that was it, and i needed to stop eating like i do (i'm a comfort eater, a boredom eater)

    Anyway, i haven't done anything major to lose weight, just limited what i eat to 2 small meals a day (though yesterday i had 3 as my partner did pasta and did way too much for herself so to save waste i had the leftover).

    I've still been eating 'bad' things like bacon, pasties, pizza, but have been eating healthier things too, like salads, fish, and been trying out some low fat recipes from a cook book too - fave so far is potato and spinach cheese melt. And where as i used to eat a whole bad of sweets, i've changed to just having one small handful now and again.

    Anyway, i guess i'm just happy i'm losing weight and wanted to share that!

    I've lost about 10lbs over 2 n a half weeks. Just from monitoring my eating. (which on the wii has knocked me from coming up as obese to overweight) I haven't done any exercise either. Well, one zumba class on tuesday (hadn't been in about a month due to some bad things happening like someone in the family having a bleed on the brain and having to have emergency sergery and 2 of my cats died)

    But is that a pretty standard weight loss to say all i've been doing is being careful with the amount i eat?

    I have had a hectic, sleep-deprived past few days.
    My 7 month old son is teething (8 teeth! 6 of which are ALL coming through at the same time) .. so he's had a wacky sleep schedule and up all night long.
    And my husband just got his appendix removed by an emergency surgery at 3am a couple days ago. So, I'm pretty much functioning on no sleep.
    I have lost weight these past few days. Is it from not getting sleep?
    The weird thing is, I normally eat healthy, but these past few days have been so wacky (my sons teething and my husbands unexpected surgery) I have only been eating drive-thru! Totally UNhealthy, but I'm losing weight.
    I'm not stressed .. just sleep deprived :)
    Is the loss of sleep causing the loss of weight?
    (because my eating habits are actually worse than usual.)
    Actually, the ONLY thing I am drinking is water ..

    I have been hitting plateaus left and right! The problem is, I know that my "net calories" should always be above 1,200... but does that apply to a very small person?

    Stats:
    24 year old female
    5' 0" tall
    Currently 120 pounds
    Goal weight is 110-112 pounds

    I work out 5 times a week, one hour each day. I do 30 minutes of cardio and about 20 minutes of resistance band training and ab training. I burn about 250-300 calories per training session and I have been eating back most of these calories... Maybe I'm underestimating my calorie burn?
    I have been switching up my cardio workout routine and increasing the intensity of my resistance training, but it's not working!!

    I've been eating 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fats. I've been drinking 10+ cups of water per day. I feel like I'm doing everything right. Perhaps my net calories are too low? However, at my height and age, the calorie calculators I use suggest eating around 1,300 calories a day at least. I've been eating closer to 1,400 (increased) as an experiment to see if my metabolism slowing was the culprit. However, still no weight loss!!! I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here... The daily calorie deficit I have is never above 600-700 so I don't "think" I'm in "emergency starvation mode"... I only have 10 pounds to go. Perhaps as I get smaller, it's just getting super hard? Does anyone have any suggestions? Being so petite (with small bone structure -- wrists are 5.25 inches and ankles are 7.25), my daily calorie requirement (sedentary) is about 1,500 to maintain, so I'm wondering if I eat 1,000 net calories, will I start losing again? But I hear so much about not going under 1,200! I am SO CONFUSED! Someone help!!
    Also, I've been using "Lose It!" on my iPhone and strictly following the plan. Also, I am VERY accurate with my calorie measurements. I use measuring cups, have rigid serving sizes, a scale... the works. I don't "cheat" either. Maybe a "cheat meal" plan will help?

      I'm 26, 5'1", 120 lbs...I think I look good! The lowest my body will actually go is about 118, but I have to constantly watch what I eat or my weight will creep back up to around 122~125. That is where my body is comfortable, I guess my ideal weight for my build. I do know that losing the last 10 lbs. are the hardest! Just give it time, keep doing what you're doing and stay healthy!

    Before I was pregnant I was really over weight, and during my pregnancy I only gained about 6 pounds. Two weeks ago I had to have an emergency c-section at 26 weeks, and gave birth to a 1 pound 10 ounce baby girl (she is doing wonderful) and since then I have lost a little over 50lb! No real diet chance, no exercising. My doctor said that it's normal after pregnancy, but that much so soon, and only after gaining 6lb?     When i was a normal weight i had regular periods... When i gained weight they became irregular.

    i woke up one morning with a bad taste in my mouth so i brush my teeth and used mouth wash as i always do but nothing would get this taste out of my mouth. i had caught what i thought was the flu and could not eat much because everything i ate tasted like salt. i have been in and out of emergency rooms with no help everything was fine so they said doing these trips to the ER.at the time this happen i was unable to go to my doctor because of no insurance. i have been in pain only on my right side that feels like my whole right side is on fire and hurts to the touch. i have lost alot of weight over the last 7 months. i was once 220 now i am 165 the weight is now steady but not sure why i lost so much weight to begin with and what caused the during pain only on my right side. i wonder did the weight loss happen because i was unable to eat and what i think was a tooth infection or is there another problem going on. my doctor seem to think i have arthritis but how could that be when the problem begin from the infected tooth? have not gotten the test back yet but if i in fact do have arthritis could the infected tooth have cause it since all of this begin with the tooth in the first place.

    My sister was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident 8 years ago and sustained injuries. After 2 years, she got pregnant and had a very painful delivery. The gynocologist prescribed her oxycontin/oxycodone for pain. Since then (6yrs) ago she has been prescribed these paralysing medications and she has built an immunity to them, so her and her doctor agreed that she should up her doses. She did not know that this drug could actually make you become addicted. She is on over 300 mg's of prescribed synthetic heroin and weighs a whopping 90 pounds, she has been loosing weight since dec.2011. All of her bones are showing, her shoulder blade rubs against her rib cage, her spine sticks out, she is a skeleton. The doctor said she has no time to care for her, after she prescribed her such a high dose of synthetic heroin. The doctor said its like a cold glass of water in her face. She told my sister to look up articles in magazines if she wants advice on saboxown a type of drug to help wheen patients off this drug. Now my sister has no doctor, she is left with one weeks prescription, she cannot cut off these drugs cold turkey, this is lethal to her health. She could even die because of her weight problem. She's been on these drugs 6 years, has never unused them, she has a daughter that is 6 now, and all she wants to do is to wake up and start her day. She does not want to take them anymore. She is more then willing to work with any professional to get off of these. The doctor up'd her dose 1 month ago and dropped her as a patient. My sister got her last appointment on a voice memo on her ipod, she cannot find another family doctor, she has called walk in clinics, crisis center, telehealth [ottawa,ontario], everyone has told her to go to emergency and the hospital told her they would not prescribe that to her. Is there anything she could do? Anyone know of any doctors that have the time to deal with her pain issues, she takes this drug for back and neck pain, so there is a reason for taking it. She will then have to deal with the pain and withdrawals. She looks really sick. But she needs the meds. She doesnt think the drugs and intense weight loss has anything to do with each other. This started dec 2010 - its now july 3rd and weighs less then 90 pounds. She is writing a letter to the college of physicians in ontario. She needs help asap. Could anyone help my sister?

    My dog is about 13. He's a black lab/dobbie mix. He use to weigh about 105 lbs. Now he's down to about 60 but seems to be holding steady at that weight at least. He eats the same amount of food as he always has, even more in fact as we're alarmed at his weight loss. He has hip diplasia but still gets around well enough. What could be reason for weight loss and is there anything we can do? We can't afford a visit to the Vet right now unless an emergency develops, he's not in any pain but maybe if he has worms or something and there's something we could buy through the mail or over the counter I'd like to know.

    Parents Don't Support My Weight Loss?
    My parents don't support my weight loss, well in my opinion. If I suggest we have a veggie stir-fry for dinner -with meat, they have to have some meat- they're like ...no then go and deep-fry something or go get fast food. Because I'm 14 and don't have any money -well I do, but saving for school supply or emergency money- I can't decide on what we're having for dinner, so I'm forced to eat what they get or make since that's all there is. How do I go about this issue. I'm trying to ose the weight, I know it deep down I need to, but with oout support how am I suppose to make my vision a reality.

      They can't buy you separate food, you can prepare yourself ? And they can still eat whatever they want ? If not, then focus on what you can do, and that's exercising. Focus on that for now, so when the time comes that you can get your diet the way you want, you'll be ready, and not just starting from square one, dieting is an important part of getting in shape, but it's not everything, you can still work towards your vision- power to ya!

      Eating smaller amounts but more frequently will help you loose weight, have fruit the first thing in the morning, then a little while later eat some cereal or toast (wholemeal), lunch, and dinner, do not eat anything past 9pm, try not to eat rice pasta or bread after 6pm.

      As for exercising, skipping is very good, squats, anything that will keep your heart rate up. Yoga and Pilates are good for balance and flexibility.

    Weight Loss in 3 weeks?
    I know this is repeatative, but I was added as a last minute emergency bridesmaid and there was no time to order my dress, so we bought the one the store had left, 2 sizes small... I've done quick weight drops before ( I know its not good).. but does anyone know how I can drop it.. for the sake of this wedding and to fit in the dress for that night?

      A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:
      The correct way to burn fat and stay healthy is to burn more calories than you consume
      You need to make sure you are eating healthy foods while still excercising
      If you have a big appetite drink plenty of water so that you will feel full but not consume calories
      But you should always eat
      If you start to skip meals you will only be more hungry at your next meal and probably eat way too much
      Remember, the average persons stomach is as big as a slice of pizza scrunched up into a ball
      So you shouldnt be putting more food into your stomach than what fits
      Also, it takes aproximately 15-20 minutes for your brain to realize that you are full
      so eat slower and you will realize sooner when you are not hungry anymore

    weight loss in second trimester.?
    I'm 15 weeks pregnant today, and I've dropped 10+ pounds within the last week. I went to the emergency room on Monday fr sharp pains on my lower left abdominal, and with the baby's measurements, they told me I was actually further along than I had thought. Is this normal to loose so much weight at 15 weeks?

      During the first trimester I lost 11 pounds and I didn't even have any morning sickness. I put back on 2 pounds at the beginning of this week, but I weighed myself today and I lost not only those 2 pounds, but one more and I eat ALL the time. Call your doctor if you're underweight to begin with, but otherwise you're fine. I was a little concerned and my doctor said it was completely fine and being pregnant increases your metabolism.
