Do Weight Loss Supplements Work

When it come to weight loss supplements and fat burning pills people have lots of questions

Will these supplements help flatten my stomach?
How will a pill or drink help me lose weight and burn fat?
Do weight loss supplements work.

Off all the supplements on the market weight loss and energy supplements are some of the most over marketed yet least understood supplements available. With the constant exposure to marketing, the influx of new weight loss drugs, and the banning of others you have to wonder what is the best weight loss supplement?

An even more important question racing through your mind is, can help me lose weight and melt away stubborn belly fat.

Before I tell you what supplement will give you that flat stomach and help you lose weight let me tell you how they work. Your cells mitochondria are responsible for weight loss. Because theses little guys are responsible for the burning of fat they are often referred to as "cellular power plants" or "little furnaces." It is in the mitochondria that most of the body's fat and food energy is turned into adenosine triphosphate. Adenosine triphosphate or ATP for short is important because it is the energy used to contract our muscles and allow us to move, run, breath and everything else we do on a daily basis. When we are healthy and the body is working well these little furnaces or cellular power plants metabolize our body's fat reserves for energy.

As we age our metabolism starts to slow, there is a big drop between 20 and 60. You may already know this as you see your waist line grow over the past few years. Between the ages of twenty and sixty your ability to properly process energy is reduced by about fifty percent, that is a big decline in your metabolism. So you continue to exercise but the flat stomach gradually fades and you see the weight increase.

One other thing you have to consider is the production of free radicals. A byproduct of energy production are free radicals. Free radicals are a concern in fat loss because they cause cellular and mitochondrial damage, and as you recall the mitochondria are responsible for burning fat. This damage to your cellular power plants further reduces your metabolism causing your body to store the excess energy as fat.

Now, to get back to supplements and how they can help you lose weight and flatten your stomach. There is plenty of research done to show that a combination of green tea extract along with supplemental caffeine may be able to support the mitochondria in their fat burning efforts.

Most everyone has heard of caffeine as it is found in everything from Coke to chocolate. Caffeine is an adrenal stimulant that can increase blood pressure, raise your heart rate, and help you feel like you have more energy. But do not be fooled. It is important to note that caffeine alone does not do all that much to help burn fat. You will see it in many supplement products because it is a stimulant and you can often feel it in your system, thinking you are burning more fat.

Green tea extract supplementation provides your body with several potent antioxidants to battle and deactivate the free radicals floating around in your cells.

Here is the catch. Without the addition of the green tea 00004000 extract the caffeine by itself is not doing all that much. Once the two are together the magic happens, there is a synergistic effect. The two together cause a fat burning weight loss, stomach flattening effect.

Fat burning, weight loss recipe.

once a day

Approximately three hundred milligrams of EGCG green tea extract
about two hundred milligrams of caffeine
TAKEN TOGETHER

Note:

Two hundred mg of caffeine is a lot, that is in the range of three cups of coffee. Because caffeine is a stimulant you will need to make sure you do not take too much. Many other products, like pop or soda contain caffeine you will have to watch what you ingest, for health issues you will not want to exceed five hundred milligrams of caffeine per day.

Since herbal drugs or herbal supplements are not really tested by Food and Drug Administration or i mean maybe not all. I was this planning to buy herbal weight loss supplements, do you think it is effective or I would just waste time losing weight taking this drug? I really need more information about this. Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
Taking herbal weight loss supplements would really help you lose weight but it is best taken with proper diet and exercise. Like all supplements, weight loss pills approved for sale by the FDA are safe, but there is no guarantee they are effective.

  3. QUESTION:
are there weight loss supplements that actually work?
do you know of weight loss supplements that actually work? im going to the gym and going to eat healthy but would like to also take something to help me as i am very over weight any tips?

    • ANSWER:
Not without a prescription. Eating healthy (including portion control) and exercise is still the best way to lose weight. 1-2 pounds/week is considered reasonable healthy weight loss. You may lose weight a little faster than that at first as your body adapts to eating healthy and exercise. However, more long term rapid weight loss is more stressful on your body and less likely to be permanent.

Cut out sweets, seconds and junk including processed foods and things made from white flour. Use the whole grain version instead like whole wheat or multi-grain bread, whole wheat pasta (which I actually prefer), and brown rice. Drink only water. However, allow yourself one small cheat a week. This keeps you from feeling deprived and gives you something to look forward to the rest of the week.

Some people have no snacks. I find I get headaches if I don’t eat more frequently, especially when first starting to eat healthy and exercise. I’ll allow myself a healthy snack of a small piece of fruit or veggies. Just be sure no dressing or peanut butter with it. Studies have shown that it is better to have 3 medium size meals and 2 small snacks rather than just 3 large meals. This helps keep blood sugar more steady. Plus you won’t feel so hungry at meal times.

Try dividing you plate into quarters. First fill half with fruits and veggies, The other quarters are for the lean protein and whole grain carb. This will help limit your calories and ensure you get plenty of fruits and veggies.

You can suppress your appetite and feed your body with all necessary vitamins and minerals, by learning more herbal, natural way to stay the way you really want.
I have a lot of knowledge hands on on fantastic products which are very affordable and would cut deep in profits of some produces in USA and Western Europe, but it is too late, those herbal supplements are becoming more and more popular, and will make a huge difference in our lifestyle .

  7. QUESTION:
Do the African Mango weight loss supplements really work?
i'm incredibly desperate to lose weight. i've seen credible news sites talking about how amazing it is, but i'm not funny convinced. before i spend 0 on pills...just wondering, do you think it really works or have you ever tried it?

    • ANSWER:
Have you tried to lose weight, but found yourself unsatisfied with the speed at which you lose it? Are you tired of constantly craving more food while on a diet and suffering from annoying hunger pangs? African mango pills, recently featured on the Dr. Oz show, may be your solution. These diet aids act as both a fat burner and an appetite suppressant, allowing you to shed pounds quickly without suffering in constant torture from being hungry.

      Results of Clinical Trials

African Mango (Irvingia gabonensis) a supplement which has been shown in clinical trials to enhance weight loss and correct the balance of cholesterol in your body. Subjects given Irvingia gabonensis and placed on a reduced calorie diet in a clinical trial lost four times as much weight as those who were placed on a reduced calorie diet and given a placebo. This is promising evidence that African Mango pills can have a real effect at helping you lose weight quickly.

      Benefits of African Mango

If you have problems with cholesterol, Irvingia gabonensis can help you reduce your levels of LDL cholesterol - the bad cholesterol - and increase your levels of HDL cholesterol - the good, heart-healthy cholesterol. Being overweight and having a high cholesterol level is terrible for your cardiovascular system, and places you at a higher risk for heart attacks and strokes. Based on the results of the clinical trial, African Mango pills can help you get down to your ideal weight quickly and safely.

Many other diet pills contain harsh stimulants that can cause damage to your heart and make you irritable and nervous. Irvingia gabonensis has no stimulating effect, and simply reduces your appetite while activating the natural fat burning ability of your body through a hormone called leptin. Research suggest that the leptin contained within Irvingia gabonensis may be more effective than leptin from other sources, as Irvingia gabonensis slows the leptin absorbing activity of C-reactive proteins within the body, leading to your body having more free leptin in the bloodstream.

Are weight loss supplements dangerous or do they work?
I am doing some weight training for the first time. I love working out and want the best possible results. I'm seeking to become a personal trainer, do some excersise videos, and be in a few fitness magazines. Do weight loss supplements, such as hydroxycut or slimquik, really work? Are they dangerous for your body? How do they work?

Thank you kindly for answering. I appreciate you all.

    • ANSWER:

  10. QUESTION:
Do weight loss supplements work and does anyone have experience with them?
I have not been able to find any definitive answers online. The best products seem to be those that contain Conjugated Linoleic Acids. I have no idea. First off, I am well aware that regardless if they work or not, you simply cannot lose weight without eating healthier food, and lots of exercise. Trust me I do both, I have started eating better of the last month or so,protein, fruits, vegetables, water, not too many carbs or starches and no junk food, also exercise, 6 days a week for the last 1.5 months, I have lost 15lbs(water weight). The fact remains I am overweight. My question is, with having a good diet and doing vigorous exercise will diet supplements work, or does anyone have any experience using them in that combination only, not interested in just taking the pills by themselves which would be useless. I would like to know if they work, how they work, how long have they worked, good results, poor results, any bad side effects. Experience would be good or if anyone just knows more about these supplements and their effects. Really hoping for some knowledgeable answers.

    • ANSWER:
I've tried many supplements and commercial diet programs but none worked for me over the long term. Gina Kolata in her well-researched book "Rethinking Thin" describes the failure of most diets for the vast majority of people over a period of 2-3 years. CLA appears to have some potentially serious health side effects:

      http://www.naturalnews.com/010126.html

I finally lost 90 pounds and kept it off by eating what's known as "whole plant based" foods. Essentially you shun all processed foods and most supplements. I avoid most oils/fats, refined sugars/starches, and salt.

      Read:

"Eat More, Weigh Less" by Dr. Dean Ornish, or
"Food for Life" by Dr. Neal Barnard, or
"Fasting and Eating for Health" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

Searching the Internet for a "whole plant based diet" will also provide you with a very effective diet that I swear by. The reason I continue to eat this way is because of how good I feel when I eat correctly. This is also called a "vegan diet", however, I am not so focused on the animal rights aspects of eating and living.

  11. QUESTION:
Does weight loss supplements really work? If so what kind? How many pounds did you lose per week on average?
Were there any side affects? If so what were they?

    • ANSWER:
I had a load of extra pounds in all the wrong places until I checked out acai berry, I understand they say that pills will not work, but they definitely worked for me, and they've been showcased on the Rachael Ray Show too. There is a free trial happening currently at http://lucilne.gesteland.org , try it out, what is the worst that could happen?

  12. QUESTION:
Do any of those lame weight-loss supplements actually work?
Seriously, if they do-- I'll try them out.
Also, I'd prefer that it's safe, legal and somewhat effective.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I assume you're talking about over the counter or OTC diet pills. Some do work however you should understand how they work. Most fall into two major categories there are pills which contain a expandable fibers, inside of your stomach they react with the liquids of your digestive system and form a thick goopy web like structure, made out of fiber. This makes you think you are full so you eat less and lose weight. The second kind prevents your body from absorbing the food so it "passes through" you quicker (i hope that was clear enough). Many of them also contain appetite supressant which sends messages to your brian that surpress signals of hunger, this doesn't work on everyone and is kind of hit or miss.

There are lots of other stimulants which say they help you burn through calories faster giving you more energy. Bsically they are pumping you full of sugar or caffine. In some cases the doses are so high people start acting "off" or "funny" and in some cases you get the shakes. You can become dependant on these sugar or caffine "high" if you aren't carful so have a friend be on the lookout for warning signs.

Most OTC pills work only for a little while it can vary from 3-9 months and after that they start to lose there ability to help you lose weight. So they best strategy is take them while you are exercising and improving your diet. You can get results that are dramatic in a very short time. Just make sure you are learning to maintain it during this time or you will put it all back on.

  13. QUESTION:
What are some weight loss supplements that actually work?
I want to lose like 10 pounds. What's the cheapest, best, and fastest supplement that will allow me to do that? Links would be helpful.

    • ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace. com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

  14. QUESTION:
    Which weight loss supplements work?
I am an active young adult looking for help to lose a few extra pounds. I exercise regularly and eat decently. Over the last year I went to college and gained about 20 pounds or so. I am working to burn them all off this summer, but I was wondering if there were any diet supplements that can assist me with this. I spend most outdoors running around with 2 preschoolers, take walks at least 3-4 times a week, and do gymnastics almost daily. I also do not eat that bad. My doctor actually said I did not eat enough and added an extra protein shake to my daily meal plan.

I am not looking for the wonder drug to take all that weight off. I am just struggling because I cannot make any other extreme changes and my doctor would like to see me lose about 25 pounds in the next 2 months or so.
Running outside is hard for me. I have season asthma affected by my allergies so after about 10 mins of a light jog I am dizzy and purple in the face and meds haven't seemed to help much. Also I go to the gym at school, but when I am home, as a college student it is too expensive for me to join.

  16. QUESTION:
Are there any weight loss supplements that actually work? acai berries? hydroxycut?
I have a pretty good diet ( I do cheat here and there ) and I exercise pretty frequently. Try to do an hour a day, 4-5 days a week. I'm just looking for that extra boost to help me lose weight. Have any of you tried a product that worked for you? Any suggestions would be great?

    • ANSWER:
The US is one of the most obese countries in the developed world so don't you think if there was a supplement that worked, that gave the dieter that "extra boost", you would know about it?? And, don't you think the manufacturer of that supplement would be making $billions and spending a ton or money on advertising to make sure you knew about it?

It doesn't take a genius to deduce the truth about fads, gimmicks, scams, and quick fixes for whatever it is that ails us. Supplements sellers of today are the old snake oil salesmen of yesterday.

No, supplements don't help lose fat.

      Good luck and good health!!

PS: Protein has the same number of calories as pure sugar (4cal/gm) so don't listen to anyone telling you to take protein supplements.

  17. QUESTION:
Do any weight loss pills/supplements actually work?
I need to lose approx. 140lbs over the summer. I am already on a rice diet and exercising more frequently at the company gym. Are there any diet supplements that have proven to be effective? With so many of them out there claiming to work, and knowing that most do not, has anyone used one that REALLY works? Thx in advance!

    • ANSWER:
Do NOT take diet pills! They are dangerous!!

Last year I was visiting my parents and took diet pills on top on my exercise routine and normal diet. I was 26 at the time, 5'11, 180 lbs. By week three I was sick. I had diarrhea, dry heaves, dizziness, headaches, and a general feeling of being sick. I thought I had caught the flu or something. I had lost 13 lbs in 4 days. One morning I told my mom I didn't feel good. My vision kept blacking out and I felt (for lack of a better way to say it) stoned. Later that afternoon I was walking from the bathroom to my bedroom (a 5 foot walk) and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital emergency where they did a bunch of tests on me.

My pulse was up to 120, My blood pressure was 150/40, they had to start me on an IV, the did an EKG on me, took blood and urine samples, and a whole barrage of other tests.

They finally got me stabilized and said that I was dehydrated and malnutritioned. I told him that I took diet pills. When I mentioned diet pill, the doctors face lit up and said that's why. He said they can cause a whole bunch of health problems, including death. He told me to toss the diet pills or next time I might not be so lucky.

I was kept in the hospital for almost 10 hours, given 3 or 4 IVs, potassium, juices, and monitored (by the EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate machines) every 15 minutes.

Please take my story as a warning. If you seriously want to loose weight there are better ways (I know because I've lost weight after this)

The quickest way to lose weight is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohol, and sodas.

Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.

In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)

Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.

Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)

Go exercise for at least an hour - two a day, incorporating weight training along with your cardio. Cardio helps to melt the fat, while weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat, even when you are resting. You get the idea. It also gives tone and definition. Also do a few yoga and pilates exercises to help tone those hard to reach and stubborn areas

  18. QUESTION:
Do weight loss supplements and diets work?
Do the advertised pills, drops, diet programs like jenny craig actually work? I am trying to lose weight and the simple way..by cardio and eating a bit less but just out of curiosity wanna know if it is healthy to try the afore mentioned things and if they really do work or just make u feel good for some time till u regain all ur weight

    • ANSWER:
It sounds like you're doing it right.

Most pills and programs will have disclaimers in the advertising saying "Results not typical" or "With diet and exercise" for a reason. If you need help controlling your portions something like Jenny Craig or WeightWatchers can be helpful, especially with guidance keeping your intake well balanced and with moral support, but it all comes down to reducing (or modifying) what you eat and being more active.

It can take a while and you will hit walls and plateaus, but keep at it!

If you do decide you need additional help (pills or drops) I'd ask your doctor and steer clear of people who point to the same web site (designed, of course, to sell you crap) for just about every answer they give.

    • ANSWER:
      Resveratrol and Weight Loss

Resveratrol Antioxidants and Weight Loss: A Good Pairing? The golden rule in weight loss is pretty simple: take in fewer calories than you expend in exercise. However, as any dieter will tell you, it’s far from easy. Americans spend billions of dollars a year on weight loss supplements, exercise programs and other diet aids—and still we can’t seem to win the battle of the bulge—even when we get desperate enough to try risky surgery or fad diets.Recently a new product has come to light that may help people trying to lose weight stay on the healthy end of the spectrum: Resveratrol Select, which is unlike many diet supplements in that it uses a combination of natural and herbal ingredients designed to help the body stay healthy while losing weight. How? By mimicking certain aspects of the Mediterranean diet.Studies have shown that part of America’s war with weight lies in the uniquely modern American combination of stressful lifestyle and fast-food consumption, and that the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle seem to be more conducive to healthier weight levels and longevity. In fact, much as been made on the news in recent months of the purported “French Paradox,” (how the French eat a high-fat diet, enjoy rich desserts, drink wine and still have better cardiovascular health than the rest of us). One of the biggest differences between the American and French diet seems to be the wine consumption, and red wine (a staple on most Mediterranean tables) contains one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, resveratrol, which is a key ingredient in Resveratrol Select. In addition to wine, resveratrol is also found in grape skins, blueberries, cranberries and other plants, and recent animal and in vitro studies indicate that it can have a positive effect on helping to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, supporting insulin health and optimizing metabolic and immune pathways that protect cells and improve mitochondrial function. * And one capsule of Resveratrol Select includes as much resveratrol as 200 glasses of wine—without the added calories that alcohol can add to the waistline. But consuming resveratrol alone isn’t enough to help with weight loss—so the manufacturers of Resveratrol Select also added a different type of antioxidant, Green Tea Extract (EGCG), which could make a big difference. Over time, green tea consumption helps increase metabolism, burn fat and reduce fat storage due to its caffeine and L-theanin content, which can be pivotal in helping to maintain energy for exercise. *Resveratrol Select combines these two powerful antioxidants with yet another energy boosting ingredient, Chromium, a niacin-based mineral that plays an important role in how the body uses insulin to burn sugars, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for energy.*Although relatively new to the market, Resveratrol Select seems to be making a big splash, and many people are taking advantage of the free trial offer to see how well the product works for them. The trial offer also includes two bonus tools to help with weight loss: an e-book with over 70 weight loss tips, and a weight loss visualization audio.Of course, consuming fewer calories while burning more is the most efficient form of weight loss, and it’s always a good idea to inform your doctor before taking a weight loss supplement, but this new combination herbal supplement is worth a look for those concerned about maintaining good health while losing weight. 21. QUESTION:
How well does Hydroxycut weight loss supplement work?
    Do any others work better?

    • ANSWER:
I have a few friends and family members, as well as a friend who owns his own supplement store, and they all had something good to say about it. People will tell you that diet pills dont work...and they dont, unless you go on a proper diet and exercise regularly. So if you're going to take it, please dont starve yourself. Ive tried it...and it SUCKS! You get extremely nauseous.

I have never taken it myself, but have been curious. Im just personally skeptical about things that are advertised on TV so frequently.

Here's a website I ALWAYS go to before I try a new pill...
www.ultimatefatburner.com. They have hundreds of reviews on the latest diet pills and fads. Check it out for Hydroxycut...there is a section where people have sent in their reviews as well, so you will be able to see what others have to say about it. :-) Hope this helped!

  23. QUESTION:
Do Acai berry supplements really work for weight loss?
I have many questions on this product! First of all, does it actually work? And if so, which is the best kind to use, how much is it, where could I get a free trial. And is it addicting? If I start to use it and the weight comes of, then will I be able to stop using it. I don't need to loose that much weight, around 25 pounds. I am 5'7 and 130 pounds, and want to be 105 pounds, I want to be a model, and used to be thin.

    • ANSWER:
First of all, for your height and weight, your BMI is 20. That is in the "normal" BMI range. Dropping your weight to 105lbs would put you at a BMI of 16, which would be in the underweight BMI range.

It does of course depend on your body type and frame as well, but a BMI of 19 is a perfectly normal and healthy index range.

Also worth pointing out here that weight loss supplements such as Acai, are meant to be just that. A supplement to your weight loss regimen.

In this sense, Acai is exceptional. It works as a fat binder and appetite suppressant and also has cleansing properties.

These weight loss properties come from the nutritional compounds in the berries, such as Fiber, Amino Acids, Omega Oils, Phytosterols and Anthocyanins.

Acai berries are also powerful antioxidants, benefiting overall health and wellness.

Cleansing is good for overall health, not only weight loss, as it flushes harmful toxins and parasites from your system.

Using a good quality supplement can accelerate your weight loss programs and also add valuable additional nutrients to your diet.

As far as being addictive is concerned, I highly doubt there are any concerns there. I haven't come across any such problems with any of my readers who send me 1000's of letters and emails every month. Believe me, if there was an issue I would have heard about it.

Weight loss is about sticking to a plan. If you use Acai supplements to boost your plan and then go back to overeating and get off your plan, then yes, the weight will probably come back. This is true of any kind of weight loss though.

I doubt that would be a problem for you though. Your starting point is very good and you are looking more for slimming than drastic weight loss.

For an effective Acai diet supplement, it's crucial to only use products made from freeze dried Acai pulp extract, as the seeds of the berries have little nutritional value.

Also make sure you know how much of this pulp extract is in the product. For effective weight loss a minimum of 30mg is necessary, 40mg is better, 50mg is optimum.

I've listed a couple of links below. The first is for a free trial to a high quality product, the second is for a normal purchase of a similarly high product.

Please note, the free trial is only available in the US.

      Hope these help
      Thanks, Jan

  24. QUESTION:
Know of any weight loss supplements or pills that actually work?
I've been looking into maybe buying some type of pill for weight loss. I'm not really overweight I just want to lose a bit of weight. I'm a full time student and work full time so I'm too exhausted to go to workout. I eat right; very right. Just need a little something more. I've done some research on a few of the popular pills and I'm just skeptical, it all just looks like one big scam. Anyone actually take something or know of someone who is and has actually seen results? Thanks a lot. :)

    • ANSWER:
I took trimspa for about 2 months and lost almost 20lbs. I cut out all soft drink and caffeine along with it. I am also a full time student and I feel the same way about being too tired to go and work out. The only thing about trimspa and many other diet pill is that if you have any heart problems they can be very dangerous. There was one problem I had with trimspa was that I got the jitters so I quit taking them. I can't fully contribute the jitters to trimspa because I cut out a lot of sugar and caffeine.

  25. QUESTION:
Are there any Weight loss supplements or energy boosters that work?
I am a 34 year old mother of three. I recently had to start taking Kepra for seizures. I have went from 138 up to 179 in three months. I have had my seizure medication switched due to the weight gain. However, I have not lost any of the weight I gained. I eat very little, so dieting alone does not work. I have no energy. Any suggestions for increasing metabolism or exercises focusing on stomach and hips?

    • ANSWER:
I've taken Keppra, so I know that diet and exercise don't work for that... I found that if I woke up and drank as much water as I could and didn't eat breakfast for 45 minutes it helped suppress my appetite throughout the day. Just make sure you drink as much water as you can. Avoid products with caffeine in them (that can induce seizures, not to mention losing weight causes your body chemistry to change. The less stress, the less likely you're going to have a problem). I would also try to start eating more fresh and raw fruits and veggies. Blueberries are good. They have a bit of sugar, but they'll keep you clean internally. Try to walk for at least thirty minutes in a straight shot every day. The best time for exercise is after the water in the morning. Nothing too strenuous even. Simply walking will wake up your metabolism for the day.

  28. QUESTION:
Does this weight loss supplement work?
I've read many reviews on Acai Force Max and I've read nothing but positive reviews but what I couldn't find was after the results are in, will those results disappear or will they stay as long as I maintain my workout daily/weekly?

    Serious answers please.

    • ANSWER:
You CAN’T lose weight with cellulite creams, lotions, wrap treatments, diet/fat burning pills, butt enhancement supplements or any other money wasting scam that sounds to good to be true. Deceptive marketing companies take advantage of advertising loopholes that allow them to lie to you in the media and internet. They don’t care about you at all. They just want your money, nothing else.

I graduated high school at 240 pounds and at 5 foot 3 that made me about as round as I was tall. I was one of those overweight teenagers who ate anything and everything without any regard to the effects it was having on my own body. Therefore, I began the diet pills, which did not work; I ate the special diet foods and even began drinking diet beverages. None of this stuff worked for me, just as it does not work for millions of overweight people. Eating less did not work and I was not one to work out or even get up and do anything remotely related to exercise. I knew I would look silly and it would hurt. I never thought or really cared about the health effects this would have on me, back then.

A year ago after a successful weight loss plan, now at 120 pounds, it is a major difference. I've lost 30 pounds in the first month. The most significant change in my life is the amount of energy I now have and the way my clothes fit loosely. Everyone close to me and people I haven’t seen in a while are amazed and tell me that I look really good. This is a life changing experience for me although at first I was skeptical about the weight loss plan.

Our own metabolism system play a vital part in controlling the amount of body fat burned in the process of providing energy to the body. 30. QUESTION:
do acai berry supplements and detox really work for weight loss?
i just bought a trial of acai berry supplements and detox pills do they really work for weight loss like they say they do?

    • ANSWER:
      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo
The ONLY thing that works in a manner that will STAY and that is HEALTHY is regular exercise and nutricious food.
Throw the pills in the trash and google healthy food choices for maintaing a healthy weight.
Every 6 months there is a new "miracle" pill that will help you lose weight.
      its all a sham......
Just empower yourself and do research on food choices, NOT dieting and you wil succeed.
Trying biking to work, go on a dauily walk,
I heard someone say the other day "Diets? I dont like them and I DONT do them. BUT I DO maintain an ACTIVE lifestyle"
      Thats key.
pills will only make it worse in the long run
      You can do it!!

  31. QUESTION:
Do weight loss medicines and supplements actually work?
i know they have to be used with a well balanced diet and exercise but i'm curious, do they actually help? or is it just the exercise and diet? and if they do work, which ones are best?

    • ANSWER:
Even with Alli and prescription Orlistat you are advised to take exercise and change your diet. If you eat too much fat you can get embarrassing leakage from the butt.
All the others are useless. some contain caffeine or it's equivalent, some contain bulking agents, all tell you to change diet and lifestyle. You do the work, they pocket the money.
The testimonials online are pure fiction and the photographs digitally manipulated.
The only thing that burns fat is exercise. The only thing that boosts metabolism is exercise. Frequent small meals might do so a bit as the process of digestion uses calories.

  32. QUESTION:
Do weight-loss supplements make you lose fat all over your body? How does it work exactly?
I want to lose weight without losing certain aspects of my body, such as my breasts and behind. I just want to lose the stubborn belly fat. I regularly exercise and eat right. Which diet supplements would fulfill this?
oh, and I don't want to lose mass amounts of weight. I'm only looking to lose 10 pounds. I know if you lose like, 25+ then your breasts would shrink. I'm wondering about smaller-scale weight loss

    • ANSWER:
You can't control where you lose the weight, naturally women and will lose weight from the breast no matter what same with their butt bc thats where most of their fat is at. Also diet supplements dont work you need to just work out hard and eat right. Burn more than you eat

  33. QUESTION:
are there any safe weight loss supplement that actually work for teens?
i'm 19 and i want to lose about 20 or 30 pounds. i exercise and eat well but im just not losing the weight. does anyone know of any weight loss supplement that actually works? (i don't want slim fast)

    • ANSWER:
I'm sorry, there's really no such thing as a safe diet pill. They almost all contain stimulants that can damage the cardiovascular system, and then there's Alli, which can give you explosive diarrhea, so I don't think you want that pill either.

Diet and exercise should work perfectly fine. I think you're probably either not giving it enough time (you should give it at least a month before you decide you're not seeing results), or you aren't dieting or exercising right.

As for your diet, you should be eating high protein, high fat (saturated not trans, and no that's not unhealthy), low carb, low sugar. Keep your calorie intake around 1500 a day, carbs around 100-150 g a day, and as little added sugar as you can manage. Make sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies too.

And you need to push yourself when you exercise. A nice easy pace won't do anything. You have to get sweaty, tired, and work hard. If you don't feel tired when you're done, if you're not out of breath, you're not doing it right. And you need to do both cardio and weight training, but on different days. Try and work out for at least an hour, 4-6 days a week.

  34. QUESTION:
Does the weight loss supplement Quick trim work?

    • ANSWER:
To lose weight you just need to burn more than you eat, it is as simple as that.
Putting it into practice is more difficult than saying it of course but knowing this simple fact ensures that if you take even one small step towards losing weight at least you take it in the right direction and not the wrong one like many do,.,...

  35. QUESTION:
Has anyone experienced with diets or weight loss supplements?
Does anyone know of any diets or weight loss supplements that have worked for them?

    • ANSWER:
Running, jogging, cycling, swimming, dancing, push ups, sit ups, squats, brisk walking and power walking all help for weight loss but dieting helps more.

One of the healthiest weight loss diets is the DASH diet.

The healthy DASH diet can help you lose weight safely and effectively, lower your cholesterol and lower your blood pressure.

It is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy, with whole grains. It is a high fiber, low to moderate fat diet, and is rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

You can see further details in a web search for "dash diet" + "lose weight".

  36. QUESTION:
I have hit the weight-loss plateau in my work out routine. What do I do?
So my workout routine is this- 30 min of cardio (usually eliptical at 230 watts) m-f and then I alternate muscle groups daily, but I lift weight for another 30 min. On saturdays, I attend a body pump class. During my cardio, I burn between 450 and 500 calories, and I sweat like crazy. I don't want to increase my cardio more than 150 min a week, because personal trainers have advised me not to. I try to work abs a little bit everyday. I am doing a lower calorie diet (1500-1700 a day), and I try to eat something every 2 or 3 hours to keep my metabolism up. I lost 20lbs in 2 months, and now I can't seem to loose any more weight. I want to loose weight naturally (meaning I don't take weight-loss supplements) so I just stick to a daily multi-vitamin. I only want to loose like 2 lbs a week or so, and not much more. So what should I do to start loosing weight again?? I'm stuck... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
Ok, some things I forgot... I turn 21 this month, and I already eat alot of fresh fruits and vegatables, and alot of chicken breast because of the low fat and high protein content.

    • ANSWER:
You are on the right track. I don't have time to explain everything in detail, but the following is my standard answer for people who want to lose weight in a healthy way. Read on!.
*If want to get fit and/or lose weight, here's my Weight Loss Program through Body Building and Nutrition. It works! First, drop the scales for a couple of weeks. Don't think about the number. Focus on how you feel and look. DON'T use Diet Pills. They are bad for you. Most of them are just a scam or they are addictive. Counting calories is a pain in the neck. It will drive you nuts. But, losing weight is simple. You just have to do the right things.
*(If you are older and have not exercised in many years you should see your doctor and have a stress test done to be sure your heart is ok before starting this program. Also, walking eveyday is a good lifelong
      practice.)
*Fad diets sometimes work but, you can be sure that at least 25% of the weight you lose will be muscle. Then when you stop the diet you will gain back all of the weight you lost but no muscle. So, you will have 25% more fat than you did before! Fad diets just aren't worth the bother.
*Fasting or skipping meals will teach your body that famine is common in your world and your body will begin to store more fat to get you through the next period when food is not available. It's better to eat healthy foods often to teach your body that food is plentiful and that
there is no need to store calories as fat. Eat a vegetablw or frui every two hours.
*Here's a simple trick that can help you lose weight without doing anything else. Drink a litre of water as soon as you wake up in the morning and then drink two more throughout the day. You'll notice a difference the first month.
*Here's another trick that works. For every pound of muscle that you add, your body will burn 3000 calories (1lb) of fat every day. That means that just by having an extra pound of muscle on your body you will burn a pound of fat every day! So, add muscle!
*This is the fastest way to add a pound of muscle. Squats and Pushups!
You do them on alternate days; squats one day, pushups the next. And you do them SuperSlow style. That is, you do the easy part twice as slow as the hard part. That way you fatigue the muscles quickly. Then you rest the muscles for 48 hours which gives the body a chance to make new
      muscles.
*Squats should be done with a wide stance and all the way to the floor. Pushups the with palms shoulder width apart and all the way to the floor, then all the way up. Use the full range of motion of the muscle group you are trying to develop. If you are too weak to do pushups, try them with your knees on the floor or do them with your feet on the floor and your hands an the bed.
*The idea is to tire the muscles out completely so do a set of squats until you can't do another, then rest for a couple of minutes and do it again. Do that 3 times and you're done for the day. The following day, don't do squats but do pushups. Do them the same way, going down twice as slow as you come up.
*You will lose weight fast, unless you add more junk food and fat to your diet. Instead, eat at least 5 to 7 different raw vegetables and fruits every day. Cut out anything that comes in a bag, box, can, bottle or any kind of package. In other words, cut out all processed foods, soft drinks and sweets. Eat more grains and less red meat. Check out the Food Pyramid.
*If you really want to give your body the best possible chance to be healthy and fat free, go to infinity2.com and order their weight loss formula and Essentials for Life. That will give you all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and probiotics that your body needs and will keep you feeling better and healthier. They also have a Proteabolic Mass Formula for serious athletes who want to build muscle mass quickly and
safely. It's pure nutrition and no drugs.
*Weight loss without exercise is not good. You need to eat healthy, exercise and get your rest. You will feel better, look better and be healthier. Try it for a week or two. You will notice a difference. You will feel better and that will motivate you to continue.
*Losing weight only in specific areas of the body is impossible. You can't just lose weight around the belly, for instance. So, if you want tight, rippled abs, do crunches and leg raises every other day the way I described above.
*One last point, stretching is essential for a number of reasons. Pick up a copy of ''Stretching'' by Bob Anderson. Read the intro and understand his reasoning before you do the exercisis. Good luck!

    • ANSWER:
Losing weight is a slow, gradual process and requires a combination of healthy eating, balanced nutrition and exercise. Herbal and homeopathic remedies can offer an effective natural solution to obesity and weight-gain.

  42. QUESTION:
Question about weight loss and diet pills/supplements ?
do all those diet pills/weight loss supplements really work???
    like acai berry, hydroxycut etc...

ive been kinda "fighting " with my weight for over a year
it started last year when i broke my neck and i was out of school for like almost 9-10 months

i was a little depressed then so i lookd for comfort in food and i gain like 50-60 pounds
    i was 260 now im 210

it took me over 7 months to lose that weight now i feel a lot better but i have had it enough with all those diets

im 18 im 5'8 and as i said i weight 210 i would like to lose at least like 10-15 pounds more and i had enough of those diets
im not a sporty/athletic kind of person i mean i like playing badminton and rollerblading but now in winter theres nothing to do

    i walk a lot

so are those diest pills/supplements really good
i mean from all those commercials it looks like its working or is it just brainwashing the people ??

    • ANSWER:
It is brainwashing the masses! so NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      I would not take them!

Most over the counter weight loss drugs may suppress hunger and increase your metabolism; however, this only works while you are on them! Once you stop taking them, your weight will start to increase! THEREFORE, they do not equal weight loss!!!!!!! In addiction, those weight loss pills can become addictive!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furthermore, they can cause serious health problems!!!!! For example, until like really recently ephedra was used in many weight loss drugs! In fact, Steve Bechler is a good example of this! He died after using weight loss drugs!

Okay, let us say you are talking about like Stackers, Mini Thins, and Fat burners. You are probably thinking oh but this must be safe because they are "natural" WRONG!!! These things can be even more dangerous/deadly than prescription meds. because they aren't inspected for purity and accuracy of contents, as well as potency of the ingredients.

The FDA has limited power to regulate these "diet supplements ect..."

Okay if these isn't convincing enough:
The dietary supplements can cause/are linked to strokes, heart attacks, hepatitis, headaches, anxiety, insominia...

Other supplements have caused kidney damage, renal failure, kidney cancer..

If that still isn't convincing enough, which I really really hope it is, those dietary supplements haven't been proven to effective in helping to lose weight!

Well, I could go on and on!

The point is, if you really want to lose weight and keep it off, the only true way is through eating healthy (limiting calories, limiting saturated and trans fats, ect...) and exercise!

There are a lot of ways you can loss weight, which aren't healthy, and they are not going to lead to long term weight loss! However, the only thing that will result is in temporary weight loss, and you will probably gain even more weight back than you lost! And yo-yo dieting is more dangerous for you body than actually remaining overweight!!!

I hope that you really read this, because taking those pills is not worth it!! With the chances of getting diseases/illness/addiction, with them not really working, it isn't worth it!!

You say you like to walk, rollerblade, and play badminton! Participating in this activities are helping your physical fitness and are sporty too! I am sure you have a like a skating place somewhere, go there and skate! Or, you could use a gym at school.

However, simply going for walks, playing badminto, rollerblading, and eating a healthy balanced diet will certainly help you lose weight! In addition, making sure you are not consuming more calories than you need for your activity level is key too!! Another key part to weight loss, is managing you stress level! You need to learn to cope with stress and to not let it build up!

  46. QUESTION:
What are the best natural weight loss supplements?
Please only comment if you have seen results or have legitimate suggestions!!!

I'm looking to lose around 10 pounds quickly..like 2-3 weeks if possible. I try to get to my local track twice a week and walk/jog around 2 miles each time I go. Other than that I don't have a lot of time to exercise besides doing push-ups and crunches with an exercse ball.

Are there any natural (no side effects) weight loss supplements that work really well? I am trying to stick to a diet as well, I eat around 1,000-1,200 calories a day and eat tons of fruits and veggies.

I'm willing to try non-natural supplements too, if that's what it takes. I really, REALLY want to lose. Please help?

    • ANSWER:
A good diet and proper exercise. You can make time for exercise if you really wanted to. People just keep making excuses about not having time to do so.

  47. QUESTION:
What kinds of weight loss supplements are there that don't affect your thyroid?
I need to lose weight fast. No matter how much I work out and change my eating habits, it doesn't happen. Does anyone know what supplements out their actually work? I see so many pictures in the magazines for Hydroxycut, and you can tell that the "before" picture is fake. They obviously told some buff guy to gain weight, and then lose the weight again (the "after" picture). Which ones work!!!!! I need to lose 25-30 pounds within 3-4 months. Sooner would be great too.

    • ANSWER:
Well here is the problem, the only thing that actually honestly works is ephedra and the FDA is doing their best to ban it.. so Im using stimerex ES but they have just changed their formula thanks to the FDA. But I have a few recommendations which are closer to the old formula and should work. The old formula of Stimerex ES with ephedra works hands down. Ive recommended it to several of my friends and they have all lost weight ..including myself..with no exercise...yes i know this is not healthy..blahblahlabh.. but here is the email I received with the different options:

If you noticed on the website Hi-Tech has changed their formula. We have had this formula for the past 1 1/2 months. It now contains 25mg of Ephedra Extract rather than the 25mg of Ephedrine Group Alkaloids (Both Ephedra but uses a different part of the plant). Also their proprietary blend contain different amounts of the same properties. I believe with Hi-Tech leading the Industry in their Ephedra products they have received a lot of flak from the FDA. Ephedra is not officially banned yet but they changed their formula for what ever reason. Lipodrene and Stimerex are still one of our top selling products, but we do have other products that contain the similar ingredients as the old Stimerex-ES (such as Tri-Stack, ECA Stack, Hydroxyslim, Yellow Cross, Yellow Bullet, etc

  48. QUESTION:
Does Alli really work? Are there any weight loss supplements that do?!?!?!?
Had my baby last Nov., and I have about 15 more lbs. to lose...those last 15 have been a b**** to try to get rid of...I just wanted to know if there are any products out there to help for those last lbs. I think I hit a plateau...now what?
Also, has anyone heard of Hoodia Prime? Doesn't hoodia just trick your mind into thinking that you're full?
Comments on Zalestrim?, Hydroxycut Max!?, Fahrenheit?, Slimquick Extreme?....I need to hear from some real people, who have actually tried any products that showed significant results. I go to different websites for reviews and every one of them give a positive or negative...I know a lot of those sites are paid to say something is good or bad...that's why I really wanna hear from others who have actually tried weight loss products and experienced extreme results...
The layman's terms were very funny on http://thewvsr.com/alli.htm, I guess I really need to do more research on some other products.
I'm not looking for a "miracle pill" or "miracle diet", I'm just looking for a little boost....I've been stuck with these last lbs. for about a month with no change...I have no clue what else to do, other than continue to work out and eat a healthy diet.

    • ANSWER:
Alli helps a little. It tells your body not to digest about a fourth of the fat you eat. Although this reduces the number of calories your body digests a little bit, the main thing it does is give you embarrassing side effects like diarrhea and gas whenever you eat fat. This is supposed to make you want to stop eating fat.

There are effective appetite suppressants that are prescription only, but your doctor probably will only give them to you if you are obese or at least overweight enough to be unhealthy.

The other over-the-counter weight loss supplements are not FDA-approved and generally don't hold up to scientific scrutiny. They might help you, but it will probably be the placebo effect (meaning that they will help you only because you believe they will help you). But there is nothing wrong with the placebo effect if it helps you, as long as the supplement isn't dangerous or expensive.

As an aside, there is a hilarious Web page about Alli's side effects at http://thewvsr.com/alli.htm The humor is a bit crude, so don't read it if you get "grossed out" easily, but if you have a sick sense of humor, it's hilarious.

  49. QUESTION:
Which weight loss supplement works the best? Sensa?
I keep seeing Sensa commercials, and Alli, but do any weight loss pills work?

    • ANSWER:
Sensa - no medical proof to back the claims. The company's weight loss evidence is based on a "clinical" study (not to be confused with a clinical trial, which is the gold standard for research) done by Hirsch. This study has never been validated, nor published in a peer-reviewed medical journal.

The lack of scientific evidence on Sensa, along with a lack of diet and fitness guidelines to accompany the product, raise a red flag for some nutrition experts.

Alli is the only one with FDA approval. you still have to follow diet and exercise guidelines. If you do they claim you can lose up to 505more weight than on the diet and exercise alone.

  50. QUESTION:
what are some over the counter weight loss/diet supplements? how well do they work with diet and exercise?

    • ANSWER:
Two words for with Alli (orlistat) --> Anal leakage

This drug limits the amount of fat you can consume. Your body may not be able to contain much excess causing the above.

Your best bet is to lose the weight through diet & exercise. There are no quick and easy fixes.
