There are a bunch of diets for quick weight loss out there trying to lure us in with promises of shedding weight in no time at all. If you've ever tried dieting, you'll know that just can't be true. The weight loss market has become very confusing for most of us as it is stuffed full of useless tips and products which are aimed at your wallet, not your weight loss goals.
Most of the diets for quick weight loss are, you guessed it, 'Fad Diets', they include the 3 Day Air Hostess Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, the 500 calorie diet and other fad diets like these. Unfortunately they generally do not lead to long term weight loss and weight maintenance. Instead they leave you feeling flat and a little hopeless.
If you've ever tried one of these, it's definitely not your fault, millions of folk have tried them as their promises are almost irresistible. However, the reason many of these diets fail is they only offer short-term plans which severely restrict your calorie intake. As your body is being nutritionally starved, these limited eating plans cannot be maintained. You may actually lose a few pounds in the first few weeks, but instead of losing body fat, what you've lost is most likely fluid and muscle tone. So your unwanted body fat hasn't actually budged.
What happens when your body is being starved of calories is, it starts to burn muscle mass instead of your stored fat. Hence, you may become weak and listless, rather than strong, lean and energetic.
Participating in these diets for quick weight loss for any length of time can have an adverse effect on your health as well as triggering your body to go into 'famine mode' and store every last calorie you eat! So, at the end of the day, you are depriving your body of vital nutrients and it is not rewarding you by giving up any body fat at all. Diets for quick weight loss are very well known for putting on MORE weight in the long term, than you initially lost.
Being in 'famine mode' is a pre-historic mechanism which early humans used for survival in order to help preserve stored fuel (body fat). This is the exact same body fat you are trying to rid. The idea was that by storing body fat in times of famine, people could survive longer.
Is it any wonder that most people who try these Fad Diets for a few weeks, eventually abandon all hope and go right back to their previous diet and lifestyle.

I went from 140 to 115 in like a month. I think that's your best bet. When you crash diet, your body realizes it's not going to be getting any food and then eats off what little you have stored in your body, in turn making you gain weight.

Drink plenty of water that has been boiled within the last 3-4 hours. And eat seeds and nuts (almonds, sunflower seeds, pumkin seeds). These are actually quite filling. From them you get get a small amount of healthy fat, protein, and some other vitamins. And this helps to keep your hunger at bay.
As for your eating pattern, don't eat anything after 6 pm. And graze on the nut mix. Drink the water continuously thorughout the day, rather than gulping down a big glass each time.
You could also have a juice that is mostly vegetable based. A good one for detox is:
1 x medium beetroot
1 x small apple
3 x medium carrots
3 x leaves spinach
1 x bunch parsley
3 x sticks celery (not leaves)
1 x lemon (whole)
1 x clove garlic (not chinese garlic)It tastes delicious, but you will need a proper blender to makie. And make sure you cut up the beetroot as it will work the juicer the hardest. Have that for breakfast and it will give you a good energy boost, too.

I was on a 1000 calories a day but that isn't always suitable from person to person. In the first month I lost close to 13 lbs 5 llbs the first week and I thought wow I am going to loose all this every week not true. from that point I started losing 1.5-2.5 lbs per week ... usally just one week before my menstrual cycle I could lose 3-4lbs one time.
As well I tried to eat as many small portions as i could though out the day.. 3 meals and 3 small snacks ...
I did very light walking for exercise, and went from 155 lbs to 118 in 12 weeks ...

Nope this won't work actually...You need 1,200 calories at the very least because the way the body works is that if you don't eat enough calories your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to every calorie it gets so you won't lose any weight. I just went to a nutritionist and she actually told me that my 1,200 calorie plan was still to low, and suggested i bring it up to 1,800...
It sounds like good food to eat you just need to up the calories.
But if you want to lose some weight before a dance the best way to do it is to stick to a good meal plan, cut out salts because you will retain water from that, and drink a ton of water. Same as calories, when you body is not getting enough water it will hang on to whatever you get causing a retention of water weight, which is what you'll be able to shed before the dance.
I know it sounds strange but drink as much water as you possibly can until the day before the dance.
Also, 40 mins of decently intense cardio a day. 4 pounds will be gone really quick i promise!

There is no quick fix. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.
Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.
Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.
In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.
Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

I am trying to lose two dress sizes by the end of October. I stopped eating all meats, plus bread and pasta. No pop or junk food. I'm having a piece of fruit and glass of milk for breakfast, salad and water for lunch, and vegetable soup or whatever veggies my mom cooks with dinner for dinner. Does that sound like a good plan?
I know I should exercise, and I'm trying to get out and walk more, but I'm horrible at sticking with exercise programs.
Part of the reason I gave up meat is because I recently chose to become a vegetarian, so I won't be adding meat to my diet.

I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. After giving birth to my second son, I had close to 60 pounds I was looking to shed. Our doctor told there was a strong corelation between walking and weight loss, saying that people who are slimmer take more steps everyday. I commited myself to walking with our dog for one hour everyday. For dieting to lose weight I simply got rid of soda and junk food. I've been trying to eat more veggies and fruit. well you didn't say how mush time you had. But i can tell you the diets like atkins and other diets leaving out important food groups are bad for you and do make you lose weight but that called water weight when you lose it like that then when you stop the diet it comes right off. the eat clean diet helped me so much lose that extra weight trust me ive tried Alot of diets and the eat clean diet worked the best i lost 45 pound in one year and it stayed off the link is http://eatcleandiet.com/ but if you are not faithfull by going to the gym at least 3 times a week you wont lose the weight. Its not easy but you will look great and stay great. And again i the eat clean diet helped me out so much if you lose 2+ pounds a week for a year or even a month using the eat clean diet like i did you will look amazing but your diet will have to be very strict. ill write out a dailt and cardio activity for you to help. Once a week you can have a cheat meal glass of wine burger king ect BUT ONLY ONCE A WEEK it would be bettter if you didnt have one but after eating chicken and sweet potatoes everyday its nice to eat something different. Also always make sure you eat 6 times a day because if you dont you will lose all your hard earned muscle beacause your body will eat your muscle if you are not having enough protein. never forget to have a protein shake after your workout either its essential to give yourself essential protein to your body when needed most after a workout. Now remember it may sound like a lot but its the best way to lose weight and have great stomach.Hope you have a great marriage!

Ok here is the deal. I was a little over wieght but i didn't look too fat before (it looked more curvy than fat) now i have moved out of my house with my partner and gone on the pill. About a few weeks after i moved out i put on about 5-10 kg. so i thought maybe i eat too much but i did a calculation and i was actually eating less. I have been exercising and nothing is bloody changing. I am getting really really upset about it and i am losing my faith in good ole eat healthy and exercise.So i need something that will make me loose weight fast cause everything i bloody do never changes anything and i am getting really pissed off now. I wont go to a gym because i cannot afford it i am a student and part time worker. Also i hate exercising in front of people.

I think he interested in losing weight again. Someone told him about LeanSpa and it's "free trial offer". After some research, I showed him that the so called news site touting the drug was a ruse, that there hasn't been enough research on acai to determine if it's safe, and the "free trial" isn't free and can cost over .00. I can't come across as though I'm right, you're wrong, or he'll just give up the diet idea. I do try to cook healthy meals (he's only home for supper, though), but I can't stop him from digging in that jar of peanut butter (he does eat it with an apple or banana, no cookies) nor make him exercise (says he's gets enough at work, but that were true, he wouldn't be so out of shape.). I just don't want to scare him off, I want to encourage him.

You don't have to read this if you don't want to.My friend has Wii fit. But it's too expensive for us to buy. I have like , so I'd need to earn about or so. If I had it, I would play it EVERYDAY. Drink lots of water and salad before and after every meal.
Eat at scheduled times and don't allow yourself to snack on anything other than raw veggies and low GI fruits.
Avoid sugary and fatty foods like the plague. You stop craving them after a while.
If you get hungary often, make your scheduled meals more frequent. Maybe every 3 to 4 hours if need be. Never let yourself get too hungry or overly full and be sure to make every meal a satisfying one.
Reduce portion size and pay attention to your bodys signals. Eat your meals slow and take breaks inbetwen bites. You should not have food in your mouth constantly. Stop eating before you start to feel full, and eat salad until you do.
Focus on becoming more healthy and nurishing your body, instead of just loosing weight.
Don't eat anything 3 hours before bedtime. Eat your last meal about 5 hours before bedtime, and allow yourself a snack like an apple or yogurt or something a few hours before bed. Don't go to bed hungry.
Go for your runs in the morning to get your metabolism going, and walk after every meal, even if it's just for 20 - 30mins.
Make reasonable goals that you can achieve, track your progress, and find ways to stay motivated, if the visible results aren't already enough.
Become aware of the many ways your healthy weightloss is affecting your life. Do you physically feel better? Are you more confident. Do you have more energy?
Try it with a friend, if you need help staying on track.
