      Basic human biology. you need to expend more calories than you consume.

      You can not stop eating, but even if you could you would only burn about 2000 calories per day (less than one pound of weight loss per day). This weight loss would be short-lived as your body would soon protect itself by shutting down (thinking it was being starved).

      The only other option is to expend more calories with exercise. Full daily activity can burn up to 7,000 calories per day (but you would really have to go some). This coupled with a low calorie, protein-rich diet will have the most effect.

      All the effort required to burn massive amounts of calories takes a huge toll on your muscles. The protein is needed to repair and build these muscles. For best effect, the protein should be low-fat. If you are a vegetarian you will need a protein supplement and B-group vitamins. A specialised multi-vitamin is probably a very good option.

      The effort needed is huge, but the results are very fast and are not unhealthy unless you have an underlying medical problem.

      As to the exercise, its your choice. The harder your body works, the faster you will lose weight.

      Just eat REALLY healthy, no chips, pop, anything except once every 2 weeks, or after a meet/competition. You should get plenty of exercise from figure skating, but ask your coach if there is anything you need to work on strength/toning/cardio-wise and get an exercise plan from them. That way you're working towards being a better figure skater AND working out :)

      Losing weight faster than that causes your body to lose muscle mass instead of just fat. Not good.
      Starving one's self is also NOT a good idea. The body metabolism just slows down and it gets harder to lose the weight and you'll feel tired and worn down. Eat regular meals during the day.
      Start day with lots of protein, eat veggies and fruits during the day. Cut down on carbs and sugars. Work out every other day.

      It works if you actually replace an entire meal with one can. It still takes willpower. I don't recommend vanilla.

      Be careful with diet pills--I've had some bad experiences trying some of them. What I did find to work really well though was a natural supplement of Acai berry which I actually saw on Oprah and Rachel Ray.       Try drinking water and doing cardio one hour a day. Also, eating lots of vegetables like celery and lettuce will help. They are filling but don't have a lot of calories, etc. I was told, take your body weight, divide by two, and drink that many ounces of water each day. Good luck. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.
