Diet Pills Safe

Are diet pills safe? That is a very good question. There are many different pills out on the market and in many cases people swear by them. Celebrities are caught with them in their purses. And we all do what the rich and famous say right? Well in this case, I'm not sure it's a good idea.

I've tried a few of them myself. I have problems with taking pills as a whole so I wasn't able to stay on them consistently and I did not have very good luck using them. I've recently been reading up on them and they don't sound as safe as they sound.

Dieters spend 40 billion dollars a year on diet related products. The most dangerous aspects of this are psychological. If you take one pill or product after another hoping for the overnight fix you're going to be extremely disappointed and broke. There really is no such thing.

Diet pills range from fat blockers, carb blockers, appetite suppressants and metabolism boosters. Many of these boosters include Ephedrine and are labeled "thermo", "lean" or "fat burner". It was very popular just a few years ago but per the FDA has caused hundreds of illnesses. These include strokes, heart attacks, seizures and even death. These compounds act as a stimulant that causes rapid or irregular heartbeats. Further these compounds often cause psychological side effects such as depression, nervousness, insomnia and rapid heart rate.

Appetite suppressants may lead to less consumption of calories but this may not lead to weight loss. When you consume too little calories your metabolism slows down. Each type of diet pill has its own set of potential side effects. And abuse of these pills may be habit-forming and may lead to psychological and physical dependence.

Fat blockers have side effects as well. They may include anal leakage, intestinal cramping, nausea, diarrhea, fecal urgency, loose and oily stools, frequent bowel movements and inability to control bowels.

I highly recommend you turn to alternative methods when trying to lose weight. In answering the question, are diet pills safe? I would have to say "no".
