The Dukan Diet has proven a success in people with a little weight to lose and for those who want to lose a lot of weight in a hurry. Dr. Dukan notes that our weight gain is a result of how many fat cells we have. When we overeat, we get to a certain point where the fat cells grow large enough that if we don't stop the unhealthy cycle, they then split into two creating more fat cells.

In the third phase of the diet you can even have two meals a week of whatever you want. Have a meal in restaurant with a couple of glasses of wine if you like, you'll deserve it after all that weight you've lost! In the final phase of the diet the only thing you have to commit to is one protein only day a week. Dr. Dukan suggests Thursday in his book and apparently, if you enter a restaurant in Paris on a Thursday you'll see many slim women (and men) eating protein only meals.

Phase One: Attack You start in the first phase called the "attack" phase - lean proteins are your first stage of attack on your fat. You will only eat lean proteins, chicken, seafood, lean beef and lean ham as advised by Dr. Dukan. You can use lemon juice on fish or chicken. Stay away from fatty meats. You can enjoy shellfish like lobster and shrimp during this phase.
Fast weight loss is a huge motivating factor in any diet. When you can see the pounds dropping off. When your clothes fit better and other people compliment you on your weight loss, you feel motivated to keep on going. If you are rapidly losing weight but you feel hungry all the time and craving all your favourite food and snacks, you can quickly lose motivation. You are also more likely to give up on your diet if eating becomes a chore; with calories needing counting and food having to be carefully weighed and measured.

If you're having trouble drinking water lend a thought to your poor kidneys. The Dukan diet means eating a lot of protein. Proteins are high in waste products that are not completely broken down during digestion. Uric acid is one such product and it needs to be eliminated. This is a job for your kidneys. In order to cope with the work your kidneys will need a lot of water to help them filter and remove the uric acid from your blood. If you need a little motivation to drink water, think of the help your kidneys need.

Consolidation phase - This, I believe, is the most important phase of the entire diet. Here, you're supposed to start the process of eating normally again without gaining any more weight. Maintaining your weight is a challenge with any diet, making this phase ultra-important. On these phase you can eat pasta, bread, fruit, and even enjoy two free meals each week with practically any food you like.

The cruise phase is the second phase of the Dukan Diet. On this phase you have more food choices. Mainly, you can add vegetables to your diet. However, you can only have them every other day. The rest of the time it's still protein only. You can have practically any vegetable that you want except for the starchy ones such as potatoes, peas, and so on.

      Is it a low calorie diet? Because if it is you will gain it back the next week. To effectively lose weight you gotta eat your RDA of calories and do some exercise. The small meals throughout the day thing is great though it boosts your metabolism. Just make sure it all adds up to 1800-2000 calories. If your a girl 1200-1500.

      i lost about 8lbs. in a week doing the cabbage soup diet. i also drank a lot of water(sometimes adding a little crystal light), went for a walk, and took Salmon Oil 1000mg. softgels. you can find these at any vitamin store and they are better than the standard 'weight loss' pills. making little changes in your diet will go a long way.

      Electrocuting yourself should make you lose weight faster. Dead people always lose weight faster.

      Seriously, though, the whole electroshock thing is a total scam. There's really no such thing as "targeted weight loss" unless you undergo surgery, which any physician will tell you is again not a substitute for regular exercise and a healthy diet. Forget "quick".. get-rich-quick and get-thin-quick schemes always fall through and the one who tries them winds up paying more than they ever dreamed.

      Just drink more water. Before meals. You will be less hungry. Your stomach is full of water.(no calories)..
      Stop snacking between meals(drink more water), avoid foods that have fat in them (due to cooking methods or as an ingredient(palm OIL) is a fat. Or sugar or additional salt. Potato chips are cooked in oil, as are french fries.
      And be active when you can. Do situps (or cleanup)between commercials while watching TV instead of just sitting there or raiding the fridge. Get off the computer games and get physical.

      This is stuff you can stick to.

      Well, i'm probably not gonna be the first one to say this but you probably wont loose 2-3 dress sizes in just 20 days.
      You will probably loose 1-2 pounds a week so basically,
      the most you will loose is 6-8 pounds in 20 days,
      But i'm not gonna waste you're time telling you that.

      Here's a diet plan and workout routine that works for me.
      - 60 minutes of cardio ( walking, running, stridding, swimming, dancing etc..)
      - 5-10lbs of weights ( light weight lifting you're trying to be trim not gain muscle)
      - abdominal workouts ( crunches, sit-ups, etc..)
      - 10-20 minutes on the tredmile.

      Meal Plan-
      ( 900- 1100 calarie intake for fast and safe- dieting)

      Breakfast- 3/4 of high fibre cearal ( mini wheats, cherrios, bran-flakes, special K, etc..) with skim milk, and fruits and nuts added with it.

      alternative- 1 slice of whole wheat bread, with 1-2 tbsp of peanut butter, or jam. with a peice of fruit, and fat-free activia yogurt.

      Snack- fruit,

      alternative- 100 calarie snack packs ( comes in cookies, chips, cheetos, bars etc..)

      Lunch- 2 slices of whole wheat bread, with 2 slices of lean turkey breast, lettuse, tomatoe, and frenches mustard ( 0 calaries) - No mayo!
      And also have a sugar-free jello which is only 5 calaries, and some berries.

      Snack- fruit

      Alternative- 100 calarie snack packs ( comes in chips, doritos, cheetos, cookies, bars, etc.. )

      Dinner- Grilled chicken/ salmon, with 1 1/2 cups of vegetables.

      Alternative- Lean cusine frozen entree , or wholesome advantage frozen entree ( under 270 calaries )

      It all depends on how much you are exercising along with your caloric deficit.
      Sitting on the couch and only eating 1000 calories will most likely keep your weight steady.
      That all depends on your RMR.
      Hopefully your RMR is high now, because with an extended caloic deficit, you will lower your natural metabolic rate.

      There is no magic pill,diet or formula to lose weight. It takes hard work and detication to reach your goal. Based on my 13 years of bicycle racing experience, I would encourage you to eat a well balanced diet based on the 5 basic food groups. Also eat a lot of fruit, and raw veggies and salads for snacks,and stay away from the junk and fast food. When you do eat your meals it's very important to eat just one serving and don't heap up your plate.Most servings are between a 1/2 and 1/3 cup. If you choose to eat red meat only have a piece the size of a deck of playing cards.That's all one really needs. You also might want to check with your county extention office they will have a lot of helpfull literature for you and most of the time it's free. And don't forget to exercise.       Basic Diet Consists of 3-4 days of eating the following foods at each meal (4-5 meals/day):
      4-5 oz of fish, chicken, lean beef, turkey
      4 cups of veggies of these types (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussell’s sprouts, collard greens, spinach) - these are usually frozen and I measure out 4 cups total of any combination of them
      1 tablespoon olive oil
      seasonings to taste (salt, pepper, hot sauce, soy sauce - anything without calories). No need to limit salt intake here if you like to salt your foods.

      Supplements consist primarily of:
      Specially formulated blend of Antioxidants
      Specially formulated blend of High-Potency B-Vitamins
      Ripwire
      Branched Chain Amino Acids (a lot!)

      This means if you want to get to a significantly good shape, you DON’T have to give up your favorite junk foods. In fact, you should PLAN THEM into your diet every 3-4 days. If you don’t, then you WON’T get the results you’re after — TRUST ME!

      Then, when and IF… your progress stagnates should you then do the restrictions I mentioned I’ll be doing over the next 3 weeks.

Already tried weight watchers and other methods of weight loss and know I should only lose about1-3 pounds a week but I don't have that kind of patience. I know all the lectures about gaining it back faster and being unhealthy but I don't care. once i see quick results I will get motivated to keep the pounds off in a healthy way.i am very depressed over this issue and don't want anybody to leave me negative comments or answers that i am not looking for. any fast weight loss tips would be greatly appreciated. no diet pills and I cannot afford to join any fitness centers .

      This is the fastest (healthiest) but not the easiest.
      First off, DO NOT take diet pills. They can do some serious harm to your heart. Plus they don't work & they're a waste of money.
      Here's what you do for quick weight loss plus you will feel better:

      Cut out all breads, pasta, cookies, cereals, crackers, chocolate, sweets, icecream, cakes, pizza, all fast food etc...basically anything made from flour & away from sugar. They are all called simple carbs. They are carbs which leave us hungry for more & that's what makes us fat. Go on a "gluten free" diet...You will lose weight & not gain if you're careful to eat correctly.
      We need to have complex carbs. (fruits, veggies, salads, protein.) Have lots of fruits & veggies.
      If you want a snack like crackers or something...go buy gluten free rice cakes from health food store. Snack on 1 or 2 a day. The only sweet you can have is maybe a tbsp of honey on a rice cracker. Just don't have more than one.
      Also you can buy gluten free flour from the health food store & make your own bread.
      Make sure you have ahead of time (like night before) cut up carrot sticks to munch on the following day. You can put lemon on them for more taste.
      Avoid cold cut meats. No ham, sausages, mortadella, salami, pepperoni, etc...If you can, stay away from dairy products...believe it or not:dairy makes us fat too...like a cow.
      By doing this...you will lose lots of weight.
      I'll give you an example of what to eat okay.?

      breakfast: 1 banana & 1 kiwi or orange
      cup of coffee or tea (no milk or sugar)
      drink 2-3 glasses of water

      lunch: grilled chicken or turkey breast(portion should be the size of your palm) w/ some lemon squeezed on it...mmm I like lemon
      romaine lettuce salad, tomato, grn onions, grated carrot, radish & whatever other green you like in there. Dressing should be balsamic vinegar or wine vinegar w/ olive oil.
      stay away from ketchup, mayo & bbq. sauce

      or you can have stir fried veggies w/ rice...also very good. You can eat rice but not pasta.

      snack:14 walnut halves or 20 almonds
      a fruit
      lots of water
      some tea

      dinner: hamburger or fish w/ brocolli or spinach
      you can have 1 or 2 rice crackers (or save them before bedtime)
      lots of water
      cup of chamomile

      before bed: pray to the Lord to help you lose weight. To give you self control. Keep asking until you receive. The Lord hears you & loves you.

      The secret to success is to be "organized & committed".
      You should have your salad, greens & veggies washed & cut up the night before so it's ready to eat for lunch the next day.
      Make sure you have bought all your ingredients/food the day before.

      Take a multi-vitamin & calcium every day.

      It's not impossible to do...just believe you can do it.

      Don't forget to exercise, drink lots & lots of water & you will see results.

    Slim fast diet - how much weight loss in two weeks?
    I have two weeks to lose weight, and I've decided to go on the Slim Fast diet. If you've had experience of this diet, could you tell me how it worked out, and how much weight you lost in the first two weeks and then overall?

      Surprisingly when Slimfast was looked at in a controlled study it came out better than expected with weight loss that was to some extent maintained after the patient moved back to a more normal diet. There are plenty of low calorie snacks available these days, including some from Slimfast. Be wary of fruit as it is often both high calorie and high sugar, but do ensure that you eat your 5 a day. Take regular vigorous exercise as well and you might lose as much as 4-5 lbs in the first 2 weeks, though weight loss slows down after that and 2-3 lbs a month is sustainable.

      OH go on the ancient Chinese diet it is called the gontamaniver paper eater!! Eat paper and drink fluids and you will loose weight!

    Okay, heres the deal, i am an 18 yr old female, i know that diet pills are bad for you, and i know that starving yourself is quite dangerous and sometimes fatal, but if i cared about that, i wouldnt be asking this question.

    I want to know what the best kind of over the counter diet pills are, like some kind you can buy at wallmart.

    i also want to know if starving yourself will really make you lose weight, i need to lose atleast 20 pounds, and fast,.

      Hahaha you sure are straight forward man!
      Well okay, I will try to help you out ..
      Ever heard of the master cleanse? I would highly recommend it.
      The only reason I say this is because it sounds like your doing this for an occasion and the master cleanse gets the pounds off quick but once you start eating regular again it will all come back ..

      I don't suggest starvation by any means, but if you do the master cleans you will atleaste be getting some of the nutrition that you need to go day by day .. people have youtube blogs too about their days and progress. That may help.

      When I did this diet I think I lost 14 pounds in 11 days?
      So yeah .. give it a try ..
      Oh yes it's also known as the lemonaid diet ..
