Why do people want to lose weight? The answer to this is complex and can involve a wide variety of factors. While some people recognize the damage they are doing to their body by carrying more weight than it was designed to carry, others may decide to lose weight for purely aesthetic reasons.
The only sensible reason to lose weight is because you are overweight and therefore putting your body, particularly your heart, at risk. Exercise becomes difficult and minor illnesses affect you as a result. The fact is, if you are overweight, you are unhealthy.
So, what is overweight? Although there are weight charts which give a general idea of what weight you should be for your height, important to weigh yourself at the same time each day and under the same conditions. For women, it is essential to realize that your weight can fluctuate alarmingly during the menstrual cycle. You should keep a chart of your weight patterns and a diary of the food you eat in order to understand how various foods affect your body.
Each individual is different and these charts can only provide a general guide. One way to determine whether you are overweight is by the ‘pinch test’. Pinch your flesh just above the waistline and if you have two inches or more, you are overweight. Or, just simply stand in front of a mirror, naked, and turn sideways – you will soon notice if you have too many bulges.
Successful weight loss
Before starting any weight loss program successfully, you need to assess your eating and drinking habits. There may be medical problems such as hypothyroidism or poly cystic ovaries syndrome involved. Your first step is to consult your doctor to rule out any medical reasons for your weight problem. Also, if you drink alcohol on a regular basis, it is time to cut back. If medical problems are ruled out, then start a food diary of everything you eat and drink each day. Do this for at least one week and then assess what you need to abstain from or cut back on. Often, you can replace these ‘bad’ foods with low fat alternatives.
Learning to re-educate your palate is not so easy despite the preachings of many that it is the only way to achieve permanent weight loss. This is because the brain controls our eating and drinking patterns, telling us when to eat, when to stop and so forth. For this reason, you need to assess whether you prefer to eat three calorie controlled meals per day or whether you would prefer a diet that includes small snacks throughout the day. It is only by knowing your own eating habits that you can choose a diet that will result in long term weight loss. Whatever you decide, always seek medical advice first.
Before choosing a diet, it is necessary to consider the huge variety of diets available. Although some diets promise drastic weight loss, we should remember that two to three pounds per week is considered to be a safe weight loss. Without a regular, balanced diet, your body will lack essential minerals and vitamins and will therefore fail to function efficiently.
In general, it is accepted that diets based on counting calories or carbohydrates or those that concentrate on fat control are the most successful. When counting carbohydrates, it is essential to remember that the body needs at least 50 grams of carbohydrates each day for proper brain function. Any low carbohydrate diet that allocates less than that is dangerous.
Calorie control
We hear all about calories and how we need to count our calories but what exactly is a calorie? It is basically a unit of heat or energy. All food and drink contains these units of energy and, if your intake of calories is the same as your output, you will remain at a normal weight. However, if your intake becomes more than your output, the body will store the excess as fat. A continued diet of high calories will lead to obesity. It is therefore essential to reduce this intake to reduce this storage of fat. Normally, a safe weight loss is achieved by following a diet of around 900 and 1200 calories per day, depending on whether you lead a sedentary or an active lifestyle.
Fat control
To practice fat control, it is necessary to eliminate the visible fats such as butter, margarine, oils, and the visible fat on meat. There are sufficient hidden fats in meat, fish, and dairy products to provide the necessary fats for the body. There are also many low fat products on the market and these are a sensible substitute. Diets that work on fat control are normally very successful.
Carbohydrate control
There are two main groups of carbohydrates and these are sugar and starch. Sugar includes all sweetened foods such as sweets, desserts, cakes, and biscuits. Starches include bread, potatoes, grains, cereals, beans, and lentils.
Usually, low carbohydrate diets are based on an accurate balance of foods and therefore do not allow for deviations. This balance is designed to burn the fat quickly. It is essential that a low carbohydrate diet is strictly monitored as the body needs to find its vital energy from replacement foods. Carbohydrates are the body’s source of heat and energy.
One component that is vital in any successful diet is water. To encourage the kidneys to work more efficiently, it is important to drink at least two litres of water daily. It is best to drink the water as it is but, if you find that difficult, you may take it in the form of tea or coffee as long as it is black and unsweetened.
Diet aids
There are currently many diet aids on the market and these can be very beneficial to those who feel that they need the extra help. These come in forms of appetite control suppressants, meal replacement drinks, and a variety of special diet food.
Appetite suppressants, whether they come in tablets or sweets, are designed to curb hunger pangs. Unfortunately, the sweets do not help to reeducate the sweet cravings.
If you find it difficult to count calories, meal replacement drinks and other diet foods can be very useful as the work has already been done for you. These can be used for up to two meals a day. There are also diet cookies but these should only be taken as a meal and not as a snack as they are still quite high in calories.
Drastic measures
Some people take drastic measures in their quest for a slimmer body but the reality is that willpower cannot be substituted.
Certainly, there has been some success with hypnosis and acupuncture but these cannot be undertaken lightly. Hypnosis, if not carried out by a professional, can be quite dangerous. Acupuncture, though quite successful, need to be ongoing on a regular basis over a long period of time.
There is also surgery that can be performed to remove fat from localized areas but this is only done if the person is very obese and if the surgeon is convinced that it is absolutely necessary. Likewise, the use of amphetamine based drugs for weight loss must be strictly monitored by a medical professional because of the danger of addiction.
Another dangerous practice is the use of laxatives and diuretics as diet aids. It is much better to eat more roughage to relieve constipation if necessary. Laxatives should never be used to increase the loss of body waste. Similarly, the use of diuretics for anything other than chronic fluid retention is dangerous and should not be used as a diet aid. If the dieter believes that they are suffering from water retention, they should increase their water consumption and decrease their salt intake. If this does not help, diuretics may be prescribed by a doctor.
Exercise
An important factor in weight loss is exercise. This doesn’t mean that you need to join a gym or purchase expensive exercise equipment. One of the best forms of exercise is walking. Start small and increase until you are comfortable. Not only does it assist with weight loss, it also stimulates the endorphins which makes you feel much happier. Physically, it assists your muscles and joints, increases your oxygen intake, and increases circulation. Thus, it is extremely important to your overall health and wellbeing.

QUESTION:
Are there any good otc diet aids that work?
I started going to the gym 4 times a week and am trying to eat healthier but I was wondering if anyone had had luck with any otc diet pill that help curb your appetite.-
ANSWER:
Be careful with diet pills--I've had some bad experiences trying some of them. What I did find to work really well though was a natural supplement of Acai berry which I actually saw on Oprah and Rachel Ray. It was a while ago, but I ordered a free sample from http://ultraacaiberry.com/y/ and it's been great for helping increase my energy, metabolism, and keeping my body healthy! I've lost weight and I feel much, much better than I did when I was on the pills.

QUESTION:
What diet aids can I take while taking beta blockers for my heart condition?
I am on Pindolol- weight gainor-
ANSWER:
icv76 - You should speak to your doctor about this, but I am glad you are asking the question at least. I do agree with ChornayaKiska and mdel that improving your diet and exercise regimen should be the FIRST steps towards achieving a healthy weight. However, some people do require additional help, and this is best done under the supervision of a physician. There are some diet aids that you can take, but they are largely going to be the ones available by prescription only. The over-the-counter diet aids that you see advertised are virtually all stimulants that help you to "burn calories". Many advertise that they are ephedra-free, but use herbal supplements that are known to be stimulants. They can cause your heart rate and blood pressure to increase to varying degrees. Unfortunately, this goes directly against what beta-blockers are meant to accomplish. They block some of the effects of adrenaline to keep your blood pressure and heart rate under control. Taking these supplements while you are on beta-blockers is like stepping on the gas and the brakes at the same time. There are a few prescription diet aids that you can ask your doctor about. They are not stimulants and will not work against the beta blocker, but can either help to reduce your appetite (Meridia) or reduce your GI absorption of dietary fat (Xenical). Another promising drug that should be available in the US soon is rimonabant. I can't say if any of these may be appropriate for you, but your doctor should be able to make some recommendations.

QUESTION:
Do OTC diet aids really work without tons of exercise?? Any good recommendations?
I have terrible ankle pain and need to lose weight, but due to the pain.. walking and leg exercises are out-
ANSWER:
Most of those otc products do not work & contain chemicals that are bad for you. A good start is to eat fiberous foods and fruits & vegies. Try to avoid dairy products & sugars (including soda). Eat very little meat (for protein, eat fish & rice) Do as much excersise as you are able to (without causing pain). Try some leg lifts, & sit-ups. Drink lots of water (especially when it's hot out).

QUESTION:
How old do you have to be to buy diet aids?-
ANSWER:
If you're young enough to have to ask, the real question is why you want them.If you are actually overweight, see your doctor or a nutritionist to develop a sensible diet and exercise plan. Over-the-counter diet aids are there to make money for the manufacturers more than to produce any real weight loss. Sort of like most beauty products. They certainly are not meant for the developing body and nervous system of a teen.
But if you think they'll make you high, think again. The ephedrin has been removed, because it really did cause heart attacks, strokes, and death in people of all ages. Now they mostly use caffein to speed up your metabolism and maybe make you a little less hungry. Go to Starbucks and have a nice tall latte.

QUESTION:
Will hyperthyroidism, allergies and a bad diet help make the progress to AIDS faster?
CDC, I think, has said that how long HIV turns to AIDS largely depends on your health status and health habits. If that's the case, will hyperthyroidism, allergies and a bad diet help speed up the process?-
ANSWER:
HIV is an infection that progresses throughout the years. HIV leaves in all the cells that have receptors on their surfaces called CD4. Those cells are the cells of the immune system. The health of a HIV infected patient deteriorates little by little. If you have a healthy life style, if you stay away from any other infections, diseases, even from insignificant colds, you will not force your immune system to fight a battle it sometimes can't win under the circumstances.
Usually, allergies and other small infections (even Candidiasis) do follow an infection with HIV. If you always take your antivirals as prescribed and test your viral load (that is the amount of virus that replicates in your body) when the doctor tells you, your condition will not deteriorate.
Hyperthyroidism must be treated. Under treatment, you will be ok. Keep on fighting! If you listen to your doctor and do not ignore what i said about the medication and the testing, it may be as long as 20 years before HIV progresses to AIDS.
There are also the so called "long survivors" who do not need any antiviral medication for a very long time, whose health do not deteriorates.
And yes, progressing to AIDS depends on your health status and on how you take care of yourself. Do not ever stop or forget to take your HIV medication because you will give the virus a chance to replicate and develop resistance to the antiviral medication.
Do not ignore HIV for it doesn't ignore you and take good care of yourself.
Wishing you good health!

QUESTION:
What is the best NON CAFFEINE diet aid?
I've been putting on weight even though I exercise and eat well, but I can't have caffeine due to a medical condition. Most diet aids out there all say "equivalent to five cups of coffee" or have hoodia, another bad one, so I'm wondering if there are any non caffeinated diet aids that you know of that might work well? I think I just need the boost.
Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Ephedra if you don't care about the law, and apple cider vinegar (or just vinegar in general) if you do. Vinegar is not overly helpful but it has been shown to slow absorption of carbohydrates in the diet so it could theoretically have some effect.

QUESTION:
Has anyone tried those diet aids they advertise on tv?
Hydroxycut, Rev, Simple Burn or whatever it's called. Have they worked for you? Do they just want my money?-
ANSWER:
Funny tried this pill that pill and the other pill. I lost all 35lbs when I wasn't using a pill. I don't want to knock pills because they may work on some people but not on others. I would tell you to take a multi vitamin and stay away from pills. Sometimes things pop up later, and they find out ingrediants in those pills can be harmful. For example, efedra was big for while. My friend actually used a pill with that in there and had a brain anerism because of it. If you are looking for a way to curve you appetite, try an apple, veggies or drink a glass of water. A lot of times your body is telling you its hungry when it actually needs a good drink. When you feel hungry have a glass of water and wait. If you are still hungry after, indulge in some raw veggies. Sometimes bodies tell you they are hungry when you are lacking important vitamins and minerals, like I said before take a multivitamin and drink water. Always try natural things first before adding things to your body that you won't know the effect of later on.Hope this helps you

Can having a heather diet increase your blood pressure if living with HIV/AIDS?
I am wonder if I change my diet then my blood pressure would decrease?-
ANSWER:
I hadn't heard of a "Heather' diet and Google came up with "raw foods/vegetarian" diet. In general terms a vegetarian diet will lower blood pressure but ANYone should consult their doctor about BP. The causes and effects are linked to many factors so you can't just say: Diet = blood pressure change. Your doctor knows what your medical history is, what medication you are on and whether a particualr diet will give you the right balance of nutrients and fats and vitamins and minerals....

What is the most effective over-the-counter appetite/diet aid?
I am 50 yrs old, in excellent health and I need to lose 50 pounds... that's ironic isn't it .. lol!! I have already lost 20 lbs in 2 1/2 months, but I can tell I am getting tired of the diet/exercise routine. My hubby started this diet with me, but he is gradually wanting to add back foods that aren't really good for dieting. I cook for 3 here, work 40 hrs a week and after working and cooking, housework, etc., I have no energy or willpower left to do my walking, which was about 10 pm at night. I know it's up to me, but I need an energy booster, so I will get out there and walk and an appetite suppressant to say NO to what I cook for them and have smaller portions and avoid the potatoes!!! Any suggestions for an appetite suppresant or diet aid?-

Seek out a Registered Dietitian. OTC supplements are not regulated and are unsafe. You want to stay in "excellent health".

QUESTION:
Which diet aid is better, Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig?
I will be using one of these aids along with exercise. I need something to give me an initial boost and that is easy on the wallet. Please, only respond if you tried at least one of these diets.-
ANSWER:
I've done Weight Watchers a few times and loved it. Honestly I'd love to join again but their high fiber diet isn't good for me since I have IBS.I like Weight Watchers. I have done the ONLINE version and the one with meetings and really liked both.
The problem with the meetings one was though the weekly fee. That was a crunch on the wallet. This is why the Online version worked best with me.
The points are easy to follow and easy to do once you go the hang of it. You feel free to eat what you want.
Now all I have heard about Jenny Craig are horror stories. One lady at Weight Watchers told me she did it and bought like a months worth of food. The problem was if you didn't like the food you bought you were stuck with it. PLUS if you have any food left at the end of week she was told she couldn't eat it for the new week. She told me how much if cost and I can't remember but I was SHOCKED.
I'd say Weight Watchers if you have to pick. If you have never done it you might want to first join a local group and go to the meetings for a bit just to learn then switch to the Online one if you like.

QUESTION:
Is there any weight loss aids that actually help and work along with diet and moderate exercise?-
ANSWER:
I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

QUESTION:
does your diet effects aids?
Does a healthier diet effects how long you can survive if you are living with aids?-
ANSWER:
Ergogenic aids are dietary supplements intended to enhance athletic performance. Athletes often look for a "magic bullet" that can give them an advantage over their opponents. However, while they tend to be highly disciplined regarding training, they are not always careful in their use of dietary supplements. The important points about supplement usage include:* Supplements are not one size fits all
* Natural and safe are not synonymous terms
* Supplements may be age- and gender-specific
* Supplements are sports-specific, and may be position-specific
* The efficacy of supplements is contingent upon the underlying hydration , diet , and training
* The issue of "stacking" (using many different supplements) may create safety problems
* Supplements may interact with both prescription and over-thecounter medicationsErgogenic aids are not a substitute for food, fluid, or activity. Athletes who are already at the peak of physical ability and consume an optimal diet will, for the most part, realize little if any benefit from supplement use. The most commonly used supplements are anabolic agents, ginseng, ephedra, and caffeine.
Anabolic AgentsThe most frequently and widely used category of ergogenic aids is those with supposed anabolic effects; that is, they mimic the benefits of steroids (in a legal manner). Creatine is the most widely used supplement taken by both recreational and professional athletes. Creatine is synthesized in the kidneys, pancreas, and liver from amino acid precursors (methionine, arginine, and glycine), and is also found in meat, fish, and poultry. The ergogenic effect of supplemental creatine is attributed to its ability to increase tissue creatine levels beyond what the body can synthesize on its own, resulting in increased work capacity during intense activity requiring maximal or near maximal effort. It can also expedite the recovery rate following exercise. These benefits are most likely seen with a regimen of 20 to 25 grams of creatine over five to seven days, divided into four- or five-gram doses (this is called the loading phase). Creatine levels will fall to presupplementation levels six weeks later. For optimal effect, each dose of creatine should be consumed with a carbohydrate and without caffeine, which can counteract the ergogenic effect. Muscle hypertrophy and fluid retention can occur during the loading phase, causing a weight gain of four to seven pounds. This increase may be advantageous for the strength athlete, but less so for an athlete who relies on speed. Short-term studies have not shown an increase in muscle strains, cramps, or pulls with creatine, but it is critical for the athlete to maintain optimal hydration. There are some concerns with product contamination, as creatine supplements could be contaminated with herbs, or even with other anabolic agents not listed on the label.

QUESTION:
diet aids...adios? does it work.?
i have been loosing weight for a little while now, and find myself not loosing any more. should i try adios to loose those last few pounds. has anyone had a positive or negative experience with them?thanks.
-
ANSWER:
No they don't, you can just say Adios to a few £s but no lbs! Even so called diet pills that work in drug company trials seem to fail to help people to sustain weight loss, and many GPs like me rarely prescribed any of them anyway. I am afraid there are no quick fixes. Weight loss needs time, commitment and dedication. So called dieters, effectively looking for something to lose weight for them are doomed to fail. The worse news is that 2 in 3 actually end up heavier! (university of California study.) Weight loss requires dedication, time and commitment. The problem with your question is that if you look in "search for questions" it comes up 30 times every day. I have had some criticism for repeatedly using the same answer, but since I am happy with my answer, and the questions are the same, I don't see the issue with recycling the same answer.
In practise for problems that came up on a regular basis we tended to use patient leaflets to avoid having to repeat ourselves this seemed a sensible use of resources. What follows is thus in effect me information leaflet.
Weight loss and fitness is always a long term commitment and never a quick fix. If you really want to reduce your weight a bit, this is a complex regime, that should help, I would get a pencil to write it down, in case you forget any of the intricate details.
Currently only using the criteria 'lose weight' there are 9,419 questions and answers on Answers already. Mis-spell it as 'loose weight' and you get another 2,633! 'Weight loss' will add another 1,883. 'Too fat ' 15,515 and 'overweight' 2,692 and 'over weight' 26,269!!!!!.
'Diet Pills' gives 607, Green tea 482, Hoodia 195, 'pink patch' 119, 'Xenical' 91 'Reductil' 78, 'Slim fast' 215 (and Slimfast 69 ), lipotrim 44 and 'orlistat' 40 . Do you spot a pattern here? OMG that is 60,000 questions with the same basic theme, wanting to lose weight!
Here comes the only answer, no tricks, no pills, no short cuts, If you really want to lose weight, loose weight, not be too fat or overweight, follow these instructions carefully:-
1) Eat less
2) Take regular vigorous exerciseRepeat 1 + 2 forever

QUESTION:
What is a good diet pill to aid in the weight loss process that has minimal neg. side effects?
Most diet pills are appetite suppressants, which Im not looking for. Im basically looking for a pill that aids in the weight loss process. I suppose a metabolism booster or fat burner, that won't cause serious heart problems. I already work out 5-7 days a week and eat pretty healthy (I consume around the minimum calorie amount, 1200 calories). However, I am having trouble getting past a wall. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful : )-

QUESTION:
How effective are diet supplements?
Does anyone use over the counter diet aids such as relicore, NV, green tea fat burners, etc? If so, do they help or are they a crock? What helps with curbing appetites?-
ANSWER:
I have used numerous OTC diet 'supplements' in the past and they are all a crock. The original Stacker 2 with ephedra worked, but also caused heart palpitations which I still experience years later.Often, when you think you're hungry, you're thirsty, so try that. Also, green tea helps detox your body, and is a great way to start a healthy diet. Limiting your salt intake helps keep off water weight, too. Air-popped popcorn with no salt or butter is a filling snack that is low in calories and fat.

QUESTION:
Diet aids, please answer?
Ok, so I know I'm overweight and I know exactly how it happened. I was out of work for a year and ate out of boredom. Now that I'm back to work I see all these healthy, slim people around me and feel disgusted with myself. I'm 5'1 and weigh almost 180, but being out in public again has motivated me to lose the weight. At work I stand and walk around all day, I'm also more active at home. I've cut down my food intake and try to stick to 4-6 small meals a day. My husband and I have also stopped eating at restaurants as much as we used to.
My question is if there is any vitamin or supplement that can help me shed the weight and stay healthy. I don't have the money for those crazy diet pills like Slimquick or Alli. But I was wondering more about natural things like Acai or a certain mix of vitamins. Does anybody have any ideas that they have tried personally and found success with? I'm really trying to change my life around and become healthier and I'm hoping you guys can help direct me. Thanks!-

QUESTION:
Does the UK have diet aids that actually work?
I have tried everything in the US to supplement my diet but nothing works. The only product that I have found to work has been the prescription phentermine but one night I thought I was having a heart attack and they gave me really bad headaches. I purchased emagrece sim before from Brazil but now they cost 0 dollars for a 6 week supply. They also work. I need something to blast my appetite because I believe that I have developed a permanent obsession with food and taste so I have to have an appetite suppressant. I know that it is not good to depend on them, but I have to for now, atleast until I reach my goal weight. Hopefully when I get to my goal weight, I will be afraid of being 50 pounds overweight again.-
ANSWER:
You don't need anything but exercise and good eating habits! No need for books or pills if you do that....

QUESTION:
What is the best over-the-counter diet supplement that helps curb your appetite?
I am interested in an over-the-counter diet aid but NOT interested in paying an outrageous price for it. Just something that will help supress my appetite and not inflate my pocketbook!-
ANSWER:
Forget about finding an answer in a box. Will power is the only answer. Eat basically what you like, but just eat less of it. But I would suggest that you eat five small meals a day instead of two or three big ones. All so eat more veggies, and fibers and skip the high fat, fast foods etc. You don't want to get hooked on pills, tablets etc. and find your self addicted to them. Crash diets and OC supplement diet plans are not healthy etc.

QUESTION:
What diet aids have worked for you?
I'm overweight, quite a bit overweight, actually. I would like to lose around 95 lbs. I recently got a juicer, as a wedding gift. I've heard of the "all juice diets"...and wondered if anyone had tried it, and had success. I also have considered Trim Spa, and Alli... I understand that I need to exercise, and I plan on starting an exercise regimin as well. I just need that boost...If you've tried any of these plans, please, let me know how that worked out for you. Also, if you've tried something else that worked, I'd love to hear about it.
I have a desk job, so I'm sitting most of the day. We have 5 kids ranging in age between 18 and 1 at home, so something I can include them in as well would help.
Thanks!!

ANSWER:
Stay away from the pills. They are a waste of money and tell you to 'eat right and exercise' while taking them. Well, you're going to lose weight if you do that anyway, so why make the pharmaceutical company rich at the same time? It's all about eating right and exercising. No gimmicks or quick fixes. It takes time, but doing it right is worth it and greatly increases your chances of keeping the weight off.

QUESTION:
What is a good over-the-counter diet aid?
I need to lose a pretty good deal of weight, have been on diet after diet only to lose a little, then gain it back + more!!! I am serious this time. I know how to eat right and to exercise. I just need that little boost (or kick in the butt) to help me
BTW, I would like to use something that I dont have to take 3 or 4 times a day! maybe an extended release?-
ANSWER:
I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurities come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.com

QUESTION:
What are the benefits of the Fried Chicken and Kool Aid diet?
Whenever I see a colored person at the mall, a McDonald's or on the basketball court, they're always so skinny and loud, leading me to believe this diet has some benefits to weight control and respiratory health. However, I'm curious if this diet can be successful without watermelon supplementation. I think that's like their multivitamin. If I eat like this, will I suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to play basketball and buy chrome rims for my car?-
ANSWER:
No, their secret is not the fried chicken and kool-aid; they use that as a cover so that you don't see their real diet secrets. They actually combine the fried chicken with waffles; it's much more effective. The kool-aid is just for vitamin C, which gives them their pizazz. And yes, you probably will feel strong urges to "shoot hoops", wear shirts fit for obese men and your pants around your ankles, and shout things like "I can't take this shit no more, for REAL for real"; but they're only minor drawbacks.

QUESTION:
Is there a diet pill/diet aid that actually works?
I had a baby 7 months ago, and I am still breastfeeding so I can't really go on a restrictive diet or anything. But I have changed my eating habits. Although when I stop breastfeeding, I was wondering if there was a diet pill something that would help speed up the process? I just can't wait to get my body back, or at least get close to it.
Any answers that aren't an ad?-
ANSWER:
Ellie~Your
Baby Is
Adorable, I can tell you there are diet pills out there that do work, but with almost every diet that is not a healthy one. I dont care how long these diets work for some, they will eventually cause most people to go the reverse after so long. Then they not only put the weight back on, but they put it back on with an extra 10-20 lbs. I have been known to gain the weight back from diets as much as when I was pregnant but without the baby in my belly. Thank-God I only gained 20 lbs with my kids. However, I did get that big once my body got ammuned to the diet. So, I say do the 'Dolly Pardon' diet, make yourself not eat big portions. Have small portions but like 6 a day. And try to eat healthy high fiber foods. And excercise a lot! Walking burns so much weight. I am a middle aged woman and I LOVE walking! I walk twice, three times a week now. And I have kept my same figure since I was in High School from walking! With about 10-20 lbs over weight. Only because I am not near as physical as I was in High school. But, I do walk further then in those days. My problem is when you get older it is so hard to take the weight off. When we are making an honest effort to lose. For some strange reason my body does not want to take off that extra 20 lbs. And I'm at an age now to where I'm okay with that. So long as we find some sort of excercise we are passionate about, you shouldn't have any problems losing the baby weight. In fact nursing will also help you to lose the tummy! I nursed all 4 of my babies. And did I ever lose the lbs! In fact, you can go to the pharmacy isle of the stores and get just about anything over the counter to help you lose the weight. And most likely it'll work. It's just what happens when your body gets used to it, see? That's the part that always happened to me. Until I tried Spirulina/Planktun. It is a algae whales live on in the ocean. You can try these vitamins, and I swear by them! They not only help us to lose the weight but they also give you energy while you are losing the weight. Plus they are an appetite suppresent. And they help nourish the body while taking them. They are absolutely the diet ticket! And the lbs will just come off within days, of starting these little vitamin green pills. Some people even have been known to live off of them as a dietary supplement. Can you believe that?!! But, they do give one enough energy and supplement your diet enough to not have to eat anything else. I can say that. Well Good Luck to you. Interesting Questions deserve stars! Smile!
