Jon Benson hates dieting. So, it's kind of ironic that a guy who dislikes dieting so much has authored one of the hottest diet books online. That's right.       Okay, so it's not about dieting, it's about healthy lifestyle choices. Meaning: eating healthy throughput your life, not only for '2 months'. Snack on fruits and veggies. When you think you are hungry, drink a glass of water, cause sometimes your mind may tell your hungry but, you really are thirsty. Eat slowly, and don't stuff yourself, eat until you 80% full not 100%. Eat smaller portions., and make sure to get all your food groups (fruit/veggies, dairy -low fat-, protein, meat/fish, grain ect.) Eat low fat dairy milk products such as skim milk, and 0% yogurt. exercise daily (run, jog, walk). Drink water,milk, and tea. No juice, soda or milkshakes. Also, cut down on the "white products" such as white rice, white flour, white pasta ect., try whole grain instead. When eating Packaged foods, make sure to read the Nutrition Facts for the amount of sodium, sugar and fat. And make sure they are low in those categories.       My original answer was absurdly long - actually, it' still pretty long - so I'll point you in the right direction and give you some links.

      1.) I'm a first generation Indian, so I know what it's like to grow up with an Indian family; generally speaking, they don't help much with weight loss. Change your diet, wean yourself off of their habits, or you won't lose anything but time. Trust me on this one; it took me three years to get myself off of my family's cooking, but five months later, I'm down 34 pounds and am now at 13% body fat. (Woot!)

      2.) Research stuff. My links will help with that, but you need to know what you're doing so you don't waste time like I did, or screw up your health like my sister did.

      3.) Don't listen to bull. Mainly, ignore people who preach spot-reduction, the myth that you can (for example) burn belly fat by doing crunches, or lose fat on your thighs by doing squats. Weight lifting is a must, but that's not why.

      4.) Stick to a low-fat diet. High-fat diets have worked for some, but as a fellow Indian who grew up on ridiculous amounts of carbs, it probably won't work for you.

      Oh, and eat brown rice instead of white. It'll make a huge difference.

      5.) You'll understand this better once you read up, so don't worry about being confused, but I'll post this now because it's important and you might not find it for a while yourself.

      If you burn 500 calories a day, you will lose one pound a week. The way I burned two pounds a week was by eating 500 calories less than my regular daily requirement, then burning the other five hundred off through some sort of physical activity. You should, under no circumstances, try to restrict your diet by 1000 calories and exclude exercise.

      And jumping rope is amazing. Do it.

      By best advice is to eat in moderation(have 4-5 small meals), eat food in all food groups.... dont try to limit yourself to any one group. also by eating small meals consecutively does boost your metabolism.Your body needs the energy, but you just got to know when to stop.       I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

      Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

      First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...

      This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.

      However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace.com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

But what has really worked for me the best is low carb...Atkins, Sugar Busters...I lost 50 pounds in 6 months with Atkins after having my son...2 months later i am still at the 50 pound mark...eating carbs one day and not many the next...I know it works once u get pass the water weight...it is strict at first but it was worth it.       I have just arted watching my calores. About 1200-1500 calories a day. I try to stay closer to 1200 though. 1500 is about when I don;t loose anything but don;t gain anything either.

      Then try to walk, dance loft weights etc for around 20-30 minutes a day.

      This website has been my friend www.dailyplate.com you can do an online food journal but I just keep mine in my notebook. And write down even if you have just 1 piece of candy. Figure the calories of that one pieca and Record it. It really does hep to be more trtuhful with your self.

      Also here is an example of what I eat.

      Breakfast: 1 hard boiled egg or cottage cheese, 1 cup oolong tea, and 1 galss of water with fresh lemon squeezed in.

      Snack-light string cheese, or whole grain crackes.

      Lunch-chicken noodles soup (98% fat free) and a couple saltine crackers-or a lean cuisine forzen dinner with lemon water.

      Snack-yougurt-dieters hot chocolate by swiss miss, fresh veggies, lettuce with Only balsamic vinegar on it for dressing etc...

      Dinner-chicken, beef, or pork with wild rice or whole grain pasta and lots of veggies

      Before bed snack, chamomile tea (it helps me realx), an orange and water (for my pills)

      Drink plenty of water through out the day.

      I graduated high school at 240 pounds and at 5 foot 3 that made me about as round as I was tall. I was one of those overweight teenagers who ate anything and everything without any regard to the effects it was having on my own body. Therefore, I began the diet pills, which did not work; I ate the special diet foods and even began drinking diet beverages. None of this stuff worked for me, just as it does not work for millions of overweight people. Eating less did not work and I was not one to work out or even get up and do anything remotely related to exercise. I knew I would look silly and it would hurt. I never thought or really cared about the health effects this would have on me, back then.

      A year ago after a successful weight loss plan, now at 120 pounds, it is a major difference. I've lost 30 pounds in the first month. The most significant change in my life is the amount of energy I now have and the way my clothes fit loosely. This is a life changing experience for me although at first I was skeptical about the weight loss plan.

    i drink 6-8 glasses of water a day.
    im ASIAN so i eat rice but now a days i eat 1 cup of rice only n side dishes/vegetables.
    i eat whole wheat cereals/ bread and some fruit for DINNER.
    ummhh. one more things is that i dont eat breakfast cuz i usually wake up at 11 or 12 soo yeah.

During the first 3 months, you will gain a bit of weight since you will gain muscle weight by walking and possibly other cardio you might do.
