      I lost a bunch of weight just by eating low calorie food. There are some great food that you can find that is low cal such as those quakes, (rice cakes) they come is different flavors and "light" yoplat yogut, no fat but still just as good as the regular yogurt.

      You may want to take mineral supplementation. Fasting is actually healthy and a lot of people do it regularly as a great way to detox, so the implication it wouldn't be shows you have been misinformed and given a bunch of fluff. Assuming you have enough fat stored to burn up as energy, you should know that the only thing stopping your body from using it is the fact it lacks the right nutrients or catalysts to get that process going. Minerals have no calories so you can actually fast while supplementing yourself and you would still be technically fasting.

      High water consumption during fasting is essential. It takes 20 molecules of water to burn down 1 molecule of fat, that having been said, high water consumption may deplete you of minerals since you will be peeing a lot and again this is where minerals become important again.

      Taking some vitamins such as vitamin C which is a known diuretic wouldn't be such a bad idea either. If you supplement yourself well enough chances are you will feel more energized and you will have plenty of energy to exercise and get your metabolism going so you'll burn all the fat, assuming the purpose of the fasting is weight loss.

      As well as exercising, you need to reduce your intake of calories, although don't starve yourself completely or your metabolism may stop running, preventing it to burn off fat.

      Watch what you are eating, and drink plenty of water. I have found weight watchers points system very effective for losing weight in the past - without actually attending any meetings. I managed to get a hold of the book, and used it to my own devices and have managed to lose over a stone so far. It is very flexible and does not rule out any foods.

      As you are overweight to start with, you will lose weight quicker to begin with, but aim to lose around 1-2lbs per week healthily, and at this rate it will be more likely to stay off.

      Cardio-vascular exercise is good for burning fat - jogging etc. But remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so certain exercises may tone you up, by turning your fat into muscle, but this will not necessarily reduce the amount you weigh.

      As healthy as fruit may be, fructose, the sugar in many fruits is the most lipogenic (fat producing) carb. Many veg are just as healthy as fruit without sugar. Berries are allowed on Atkins after 6 weeks & other fruit after 9 weeks.

      There is no better way to bring the body to the state of optimal health than with a low carb way of eating. Low carb doesn't cause high blood pressure, high blood sugar or high cholesterol, it cures it. It is actually dangerous to take meds that lower these levels and do low carb at the same time because the levels will become dangerously low. Carbohydrates trigger insulin. High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Anything less that 9 grams of carbs per hour controls insulin and is considered low carb (up to 144 grams per day).

      U.S. government guidelines were changed 35 years ago to suggest we lower our fat intake & increase our carb intake. American society followed these recommendations & lowered their fat intake by 11% & increased their carb consumption. In this same time frame obesity, diabetes, heart disease are all at epidemic levels. Through their direct effects on insulin & blood sugar, refined carbohydrates are the dietary cause of coronary heart disease & diabetes.

      Over 5 years ago, I started doing Atkins low carb way of eating to just quit gaining weight. I had to get my out of control appetite under control. I never imagined I could LOSE weight without hunger or exercise, since I've become disabled. I never bothered weighing or measuring til I'd noticed that my clothes got huge quick. When my health improved dramatically also, I knew this was my new way of life and since it's eat all you want (of low carb foods) I know I can do this for life.

      You will lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

      Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.

      Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

      The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don't your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

      It takes minimum of 3 days to convert your body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis) you will probably feel sluggish the first week but most people feel better than ever thereafter.

      Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

      Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge bacon, peppers, mushrooms & cheese omelets for breakfast. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

      High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

      Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup of water, cinnamon, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle and nuke for 1.5 min. for hot cereal or 2 min. for more of a muffin type thing. Great low carb, high fiber treat. Suggested for daily fiber needs.

      The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.)

      Start with meat & fats & salads for a couple of weeks and then you can slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg and lastly wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods. As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight.

      Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.

    okay so ive been trying to diet. here's what ive been doing:

    -i ONLY eat when my stomach is growling, that way i know im truly hungry, and not just bored or craving something.
    -i only eat enough to make my stomach stop growling

    -i drink as much water as i can every day.
    so, for example, in the morning for breakfast, ill eat a 90 cal yougurt or an orange. for lunch at school ill only eat one thing, like a sanwich. then if my stomach is growling when i get home ill eat celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. then if im hungry a few hours later for supper ill eat soup. so in a day, i dont know, but im guessing anywhere from 500-800 calories a day with all healthy food. ive tried EVERY kind of weight loss solution know to man, and after a ton of research about weight loss, i think this is the best diet ive tried. im never starving, because i eat when im hungry, and stop when im full. and when i do eat, it's healthy.

    but i have a major problem. i CANNOT stay with it. i follow it for only a couple days, then when i let myself get hungry, and im in the kitchen trying to find something to eat, i think with my stomach and grab pizza or something instead of veggies or fruits. the main reason why i do that is because i get way too impatient because i dont see results quickly enough.

    so i was doing fine and everything, i was following the diet good, and i was so excited becasue i thought this time i was finally going to lose weight. but then when i got hungry, i got really hungry all at once, so i went to go eat, and my mom always keeps a ton of junkfood in the house even though ive asked her a million times to stop buying it, and she had chocolate doughnuts sitting on the counter, and some pizza she ate before. so i started thinking about the last time i had chocolate or pizza, and i started craving it. but then i remembered my diet. then i thought of the same thing that always makes me ruin my diet. i thought, "this stupid diet is making me miserable. i miss being able to eat the foods that i want whenever i want. the diet isnt even working anyways." then i gorge out on junkfood. im not gonna say what i ate, but about an hour ago, i ate 900 or more calories within about 10 minutes, and i had already ate like 300 calories before. plus, its only halfway through the day. i still have to eat again.

    this wouldnt be a big deal if this was then 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd time this has happened, but every time i try to diet, which is like every day, this exact same thing happens. then when i get ready to diet again, i dont even want to because i know the same thing is going to happen. i think it would help if i knew how much weight i would lose on this diet in a couple weeks. that way i would stay on it.       That's a bad diet. Too little calories can be unhealthy for you. Your body Is hungry because you eat so little. You don't need to diet to loose weight, you just need to watch your portion size and eat healthy food. Exercising and eating right will help you loose weight. Don't think abou how many calories each food has, think what is healthy an what is not, but watch your portion size. Healthy foods have less calories. So don't think omg this has this many calories, as long as you eat healthy, you'll loose weight. You also need to exercise, because muscle burns fat. Try walking, then when your ready,run. Just exer use one hour a day. You can loose weight by walking, and if you want to tone your body work on those apecific areas. You could still eat pizza, and chips, but don't eat like 4 slices of pizza and the when bag of chips. Eat a salad first then eat a slice or two of pizza, the you could go outside and walk it off. Eat healthy snacks too. Like a fruit salad, or a granola bar. Just watch your portions n eat small meals. Have a variety of healthy foods available so of you get hungry, you have healthy foods.

    I started to lose weight at the end of May 2006 and by mid-September I weighed around 128 lbs, down from 161. Now I am back up to about 140; I've been under a lot of stress lately which is the main factor for the gain, and I haven't been able to exercise as much as I'd like either. I used to not eat much, but now I can hardly seem to stop. I want to start a strict, effective diet in order to lose the weight again, I'd like to be under 125 (I'm 5'4 1/2). I'm considering starting Atkins; will this be fairly quick weight loss? I need to lose some pounds soon in order to boost my self-esteem, I'm really hating myself these days. Rapid weight loss ideas may be best for me right now despite obvious health concerns. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Don't do atkins, in the long run it'll cause heart damage and brain disease. Its not suprising that atkins himself died of a heart attack. If you simply need a meal plan, weight loss program go with south beach, but follow it closely. It'll jump start your metablolism, but you need to follow it and realize that you can't lose it all at once. Its about changing how you eat as well as what you eat. Its better to lose 15lb a year and keep it off than to lose 15lb in a month and have 20lb of gained weight the next month.

      A good healthy way to loose weight but it still be healthier than not eating is a no carb diet. It isn't easy but if you can cut out the carbs like bread and pasta it will do you good really fast. Stick with eating meat though but not red meat or greasy, fatty, fried meat. Grilled chicken is great and vegetables and fruits. Even gatorade though has a lot of carbs so water is your best choice. Make sure to drink a lot though.     I know there is no 'miracle' cure and slowly and surely is the best route, but I might as well choose the option with the quickest initial results!

      1st months of slimming world i lost 9lbs (im not a fan and think ww s better for those of us who still need our treats)!!

      Weight watchers
      1st week= 8lbs (was very good followed well excerised 4 times)
      2nd week= 3.5lbs (weight loss slowed which was happy aboutbecause means had not alt of water retention)#
      3rd week= 1lb (followed the plan but weight loss catch up with me)
      4th week= 4lb (hit th gym n pool hard because wanted a good loss because the week after was going to familys for a christening.

      altogether =16.5lbs weight loss a bit slower now aveage is 1.5lbs a week which im hapy with.

    1. drinking green tea. does it really help you lose weight? how much should i drink a day?

    5. replacing one meal with a protein shake. if i did this, my protein shake would be made from unsweetened soy protein powder, unsweetened soy milk, splenda, and maybe some natural hershey's coco powder. it would have about 50g protein in it. would this help? and when is the best way to drink it?

      No. A diabetic diet would work. Skip all the carbs, especially white ones. B/C their glycemis index causes them to rush through your bloodstream, hike insulin, and leave you without nutritian.
      Do not reduce fat (which is needed to digest vitamins.
      Protein powder is just whey and soy -- not adequate.
      Vegetarians have more heart attacks than anyone else because they can't get all their amino acids which come from meat.

      The liver can only handle small amounts of glycogen. Glycogen is the source of our energy (not fat.) once that is used up your body will start digesting it's own protein.

      This is why diabetic meals (more frequent throughout the day) focus on the liver reserves for energy.

      Would like to explain more but need to get off the internet -- but, you get the gist of it. No carbs unless they are from a vegetable source like celergy, romaine, radishes, etc. No rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, etc.
