Being in the health and wellness industry, this is what I found myself asking. I was at first VERY skepticle, I mean really, how many more supposedly "all- natural weight-loss supplements" do we need right? So I really wasn't interested at even trying it. But then something happened....
A good friend of mine and someone who has been working very hard to reach her goals of losing weight, dropped 7 lbs. Now you might ask, what's so great or unusu 00004000 al about that? Well, Rebbecca, -that's my friend-has been trying every sort of diet program around, and the problem was, she GAINED weight each and every time. Why? Because no matter how well she started out, she eventually, because of stress, and the need for comfort, reverted to the same old bad eating habits of heavy cheeses, high calorie seafood salads- oh yes even some salads can be bad for you- and the worst culprit of all...Junk Food.
However, She had now started Zylene, which I being her good friend, opted to finally give her as a last resort. Firmly, I told her, that this was certainly NO miracle pill, a fact which I still strongly attest to. Further more, I reminded her, that if she thought that for one instance, this took the place of HEALTHY eating and at least SOME exercise, she was going to be let down again for sure! She called me 1 week later. "I lost 2 1/2 lbs today" she glibbed. She called me the second week " I lost another 3lbs today!"
You know the rest, a total of three weeks, and 7lbs later, she is off and running again. But this time she has a bit more energy, but she has also discovered that she cannot take it everyday. Being sensative to herbs, she reduces the little energizing, diuretic herbs, accordingly. Hats off to Rebbecca!
As for me, I simply had to give it a go, after all, how could I give it out to my clients if I myself would not even touch it? Now, I do know a thing or too about herbal medicine, and I did like the gentle combinations they used, but I certainly did not expect it to have the nice effect on me that it did. I have Hoshimoto's disease. It's a disease of the thyroid. I will be telling you all about that later, as for now, I can truthfully say. I feel fantastic. I have lost weight and I owe it all to the little herbal Jewel Zylene. It is natural, safe, and after a while, you begin to know that it has done it's job, you seem to realize, after a certain time, now it is time for you to take over......You know the routine, eat right, and get out there and start walking! So over all, my viewpoint has to be, Zylene certainly does have potential!

QUESTION:
What's the best all natural weight loss supplement?-
ANSWER:
Natural Weight Loss Supplements are hard to find. Most companies add chemical additives that artificially stimulate the body to 'rev' up (thus burning more calories). Unfortunately, this isn't healthy for the body.
The best natural weight loss supplements will be found from smaller companies (not slimfast).
One company that has a natural weight loss supplement is at
http://www.mortersupplements.com/natural-weight-loss-supplement.htmlThe product is called Alka Slim.
Other possible solutions are eating apples and going on a no-sugar (and no-chemicals) diet. This rebalances the metabolism.
Also, doing all-natural cleanses, such as an Alka Cleanse colon cleanse at http://www.mortersupplements.com/alkacleanse1.html

QUESTION:
Any natural metabolism/weight loss supplements?
I am very obese, female, 5'6. I am on a lifestyle change, working out 5 times a week, cutting calories, cutting all bad things out of my diet. I take a vitamin. I was wondering if green tea supplements/metabolism boosters, etc, would be efficient and good to add to this new lifestyle. Any suggestions?
I am 20.-
ANSWER:
Balanced diet and exercise. Period. i just know if you are taking in more calories every day than you are burning running on the treadmill, you have to make some changes. Drop your caloric intake or increase the amount of exercise, or better yet - do both. Little things that can help - replace your computer chair with an excerise ball, take the stairs instead of the elevator, don't skip meals (and make them healthy meals), fidget (belive it or not tapping your foot or clenching your butt while you sit burns more calories than just sitting still). Good luck

weight loss supplements?
Okay I know the only way to lose weight is to put out the effort, exercise, eat a healthy balance diet, and drink water and everyone says that there are bad side effects to diet pills but do all natural weight loss supplements really help if combined with diet and exercise? If so what vitamins and or other supplements work best? I've heard drinking apple cider vinegar with water works well but is this true? If so does a pill form of cider vinegar work just the same? QUESTION:
Can anyone offer advice about weight loss supplements?
I have been working out 4-5 times a week and eating around 1500-1700 calories per day for the past 2 1/2 months. I've only lost 10 pounds and I'm a little dissappointed by the results. I'd like to take the weight off just a little faster and could use a boost. I've been against taking supplements because I don't want to be wired and don't want to put the weight back on when I go off the pills. Can anyone recommend a supplement that worked well for you? Natural is better, but anything you can give me would be appreciated. I'm anxious for more significant results! It's getting harder for me to remain at my goal caloric intake. I'm starving all the time and I haven't lost ANY weight in 2 weeks.-
ANSWER:
I don't think this is natural but it works for me Metabolite x treme. I take a generic form of it after I asked my doctor. 6 weeks ago I weighed 200 after taking that I weigh 165. I excercise, watch my calorie intake. This pill does not contain ephedrin. when you first take it you will get unusual energy- but just for4 a couple of days. The bottle said take three times a day but I only took two. Heres the best news.. I have been off of it for two weeks now ( I have to afford more, mine ran out) and I haven't gained any weight back. I have kept it maintained.. as long as I watch what i eat

QUESTION:
Natural Steroids. OTC Supplements? Short-term use. Weight Loss and Muscle Growth?
I know there are a bunch of legal steroids sold as supplements at ‘health food stores’ and I know that long term use and use of steroid-steroids is bad for your health but what would be good for Short Term, less than a month, usage of OTC Supplements do?Would they spur weight loss in the next month?
Would they help build muscle or are they all placebo effect?
If you take enhancement products, what ACTUALLY WORK?
I will be working out like mad over the next month and would like a boost to help me along.
If I remember correctly, DHE or DEH is a supplement that boost sexual feelings and muscle growth… Would that help?
I believe that they make a formula for men and a formula for women…
No one can talk me out of trying supplements so PLEASE help me do this safely.
NO TROLLS.

ANSWER:
steroids do not make you lose weight they make you extremely hungry. what they do is give you a lot of protein and carbohydrates needed to build muscle which if you do not work out a lot will actually make you gain a lot of weight. if you want to lose weight look at something that curbs appetite increases energy and speeds up metabolism.

QUESTION:
Do acai berry supplements aid in weight loss?
im not talking about the ones with all the colorful, tan buff people promoting fast weight loss. but those ones you find at sprouts or whole foods, they're like all natural. do they help with weight loss? or is the green tea supplement more effective?-
ANSWER:
It's funny how few years back, Acai was discovered in mainstream America and all of the sudden, so many companies jumped on the bandwagon to promote this "new miracle fruit" that supposedly possesses wonderful weight loss properties. Yeah, if you eat only them!! And why not? - there is tons of money to be made off of the exceedingly large amount of obese people in the world today who are looking endlessly and exhaustingly for help to take off pounds. I feel badly for them, because in desperation, they spend so much hard-earned money and time on trying all of these gimmicks, only to be disappointed.I'll get off of my soapbox now (sorry - I just get very irritated how companies take advantage of the disadvantaged all for the sake of greed!). If you want to learn more of Acai and all of its wonderful nutritional properties, search for "David Wolfe + Acai" - he was one of the main guys who introduced this berry into the mainstream. - I don't think I've ever read or heard him talk once about any weight loss properties of it..... only that it's high in antioxidants and other nutrients. But, so are many other fruits! And, if you go on a frugivore diet, you will reap weight loss benefits!
For the sake of your question, I Googled "Acai + weight loss" and "green tea + weight loss" and got almost 17,000,000 results and over 10,000,000 results respectively - see what I mean! You're better off just cutting out animal products and byproducts and eating a mostly raw vegan diet - you can't imagine how quickly you can lose weight while becoming healthier, more vibrant and energetic, and attaining a exuberant over-all well-being!! So, to answer your question - neither one. For your own sake, stop falling for the lose-weight-quick schemes and do what you know is best - eat healthy, exercise, and get plenty of good rest - your body will then know how to reach your ultimate weight AND health.
Once again, I apologize for sounded all high and mighty, but I've been there and done all of it - for 35 years (since I was a teenager)! My last endeavor with a truly effective, sustainable raw food diet lifestyle has finally gotten me long-lasting results. And to say the least, I think you know it, too, because we all know it, we just want an easier way! But, truly, there isn't one that doesn't drag behind failure and complications. Hope I helped a tad!
Much luck to you and good health!

ANSWER:
Nearly 7 years ago, I started Atkins low carb way of eating to just quit gaining weight. I had to get my out of control appetite under control. I never imagined I could LOSE weight without hunger or exercise, since I've become disabled. I never bothered weighing or measuring til I'd noticed that my clothes got huge quick. When my health improved dramatically also, I knew this was my new way of life and since it's eat all you want (of low carb foods) I know I can do this for life.My personal carb level is low. I am older & disabled & don't move much (or cook much) but I eat all I want of meats, eggs, cheeses, yogurt, fats, green vegetables, almonds, berries, flax seeds, chia seeds, shirataki noodles and other foods. Someone active would have a MUCH higher carb level & can usually include all fruits, beans, whole grain products but not sugar & highly refined carbs in unlimited amounts. As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories.
Most overweight & obese people have blood sugar & insulin dysfunctions and can NEVER eat carbs as someone with a functioning body can. They make the mistake of going back to the way of eating that made them fat and that is not possible and yes they will gain all weight back if they eat what they ate that made them obese originally. Insanity is defined as doing the exact same thing, in the exact same way and expecting different results. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.
You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)
Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.
The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.
Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) & exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.
The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).
It takes about 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.
Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans) trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon..
High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase muscle mass with high HGH levels.
Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min. for daily fiber needs.

QUESTION:
hoodia supplements?
i've heard about hoodia being a good natural weight loss supplement, but does all of it work? i've heard from some people it doesn't work, and some it does? do some brands work better?-
ANSWER:
Yes, some brands work and some don't. This is because some brands are real and some are not.You will have the best chance of hoodia suppressing your appetite if you get a strong pure hoodia that is certified to be genuine. Check out Totalink's unbiased Hoodia comparison at http://hoodiagordonii.totalink.com/hoodia_comparison.html in the "Confidence" column it will indicate if the brand is "Certified". These Hoodia brands have the credentials to back up their product. Also in that column it will indicate if the brand is "Returnable". These Hoodia brands allow you to return opened bottles and get your money back. I think this indicates that a company has confidence in their product that it works. There are many factors involved in finding the best Hoodia, I have written articles on a lot of them. Just search Yahoo or Google under my name “Andrew Aitaken” to find them.
Remember, you should always consult your physician before taking any diet pill or weight loss supplement.

QUESTION:
How can I lose 10-20 pounds of fat in a month?
I have just started a new diet and workout. I currently weigh 220 pounds and would ultimately like to get down to around 200 pounds (maybe eventually 190 or 185ish), but with more muscle than fat. I am doing cardio, weight training, and have been on a low calorie diet (I tried Atkins, but I couldn't do no carbs at all). I have been eating lean meats, fiber, fruits + veggies, and drinking lots of water and green tea. (also eat celery and grapefruit). Is there anything else I can do? I have been taking Mega-T Green Tea, a natural weight loss supplement, are there any other natural supplements that you would reccomend? Would you reccomend fasting, and if so how many days a month?-
ANSWER:
Fasting will only hurt you.. you will lose some weight, but then you will just gain it all back. Make sure you doing at least 45min of cardio or more at least 3-4 times a week. It takes about 30 min of cardio before you really start to burn fat. If your doing 30 min or less your really just wasting your time and you will get slower results. Other than that is sounds like your on the right track! If you really want to lose your weight fast you would have to burn more calories a day than you eat. I know a friend that would do 2 hrs on the elliptical 2 days a week and then 45- and hour 3 other days a week. She lost weight pretty fast!

It can also be purchased as a nutritonal supplement at most supplement stores. L-Carnitine is an amino acid which is found in your liver and kidneys and helps in the moving and disposal of fats. Because it helps to burn fat it will also give you an energy boost. ok fuck weight loss supplement i dont wanna try dat no more I wanna go all natural da hard way lol but i need some help1st of all i am 5ft9in n i weigh 240 and i want to lose weight n build muscle not like big muscles but like lean body muscle and i asked a trainer and they said I need to do more reps and less weight on the machine or what eva im using, well my question is what do you recommend?? like how many reps should I do? how much weight should I use?? how long should I do this for?? (like how many minutes) plz help me
-
ANSWER:
While bodybuilders do high reps and low weight to lose the last bit of fat and keep the muscle they have this isn't your best option. You still need to build muscle first and have way more fat to lose than they do.For every pound of muscle you have your metabolism increases enough to burn an extra 50 calories a day. If you added just 5 pounds of muscle that is 91250 calories burned or about 26 pounds that's without diet or cardio.
You can see how important strength training is, but using heavier weight (something you can lift 6 to 12 reps is better for you) since you are not a bodybuilder and have more muscle to build and more fat to burn than the typical bodybuilder. Use a weight you can do at least six times but no more than 12 times per set. Lift for 45 minutes three times per week.
For best results do squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press, barbell rows, and lat pulls to get the most bang for your buck because these work the largest muscles and build muscle quicker and burn way more fat.

QUESTION:
FAST WEIGHT LOSS . . . the natural way?!?!?
I'm a female, 18 years old, 5,5 1/2" and 132 pounds. I want to drop 4-6 pounds by May 23. My plan is to do cardio for an hour 4 days a week, and weight train for 20 min one day a week. Also, I'll supplement all drinks for green tea (twice daily) and water. And I'll have 5-6 small meals a day containing 200-300 calories per meal (most meals containing veggies or fruit). With this regime is it possible for me to lose 4-6 pounds in time for May 23? If not can you recommend some things I can do please? (No diet pills, crazy fad diets/fasts though) kthx!!
-
ANSWER:
Just keep doin what you're doing. Be sure that you drink plenty of water, take a 'one-a-day' vitamin... that'll help, and never eat at least 3 hours before bed. Other than that, you're doin all you can do for going natural.

QUESTION:
I have lost a lot of weight in 2 wks w/out exercise & my roommate is fat! What do I do?
The problem is my roommate is very fat and now is angry at me? WTF? I have been taking 3 weight loss supplements (no drugs, natural stuff) and I tried to tell her about it, but she wasn't interested.Do you think she's jealous coz I eat a lot and every day I wake up thinner? Or do you think she wants me to tell her what I use but she doesn't want to ask? She is rude and so why should I help her now? She didn't want to hear it when I was telling her about it, the first week I lost the most weight and I continue to lose. IDK what to do?? I'm thinking about moving out. Please help??
I have lost a lot of weight in 2 wks without exercise and I eat a lot! Every day I have 3 sausages for breakfast, 1 egg, then later I'll have 1 salad, lasagna or macaroni and cheese or pizza and meat (beef, chicken, fish or pork etc) and I eat ice cream and chocolate every day. I don't exercise but I walk to the stores. I lost 2 sizes already and I can't keep my pants up so I am going shopping! Yay!
And I don't see why I should suppress my happinness so please don't tell me that! 3 years ago I was given medication that made me fat and all the stuff I tried (the weight loss supplements that worked before steroids, they stopped working! nothing would let me lose) and now I find stuff that is making me skinny just as rapidly as I put the weight on (I was huge in 4 wks of steroid medication) So yes I am happy and celebrating. I just don't want to live a living hell because of her. She is now very mean to me.
@Helene: there's a difference being full of myself and deliriously happy! I was thin my whole life. I have a life-threatening illness and tehy put me on steroids: it nearly killed me and made me obese! so you better believe I AM DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY!!!! It's been almost 4 years!! I only lost half when I stopped the steroids but had all this fat! And now I am waking up slimmer each day and packing on muscle! I wanted to help her but she's rude & mean. Why should I?
@ =) Thanks so much!! That's why I'm thinking about moving: I don't want her to bring me down!!! And I should not fear where I live. I have always been nice to her. She likes to complain and not do much. I guess she liked me when I was down (I moved after the meds made ME fat). Idk what her problem is? Maybe she wants to stay fat to complain? I am just happy all the time now but not telling her what to do, and not briging her down! I would never be mean, even when I was thin my whole life i never judge fat ppl! Some of my good friends when I grew up were fat and I ate lots more than them! It's either our hormones make us build muscle or they make us make fat! Thanks so much! xoxo-
ANSWER:
Okay, I'm sorry, but the second I glimpsed this question I bursted out laughing. If you think about it, it's actually a pretty amusing dilemna...You weigh a lot, and you're not happy with the way you look. You lose weight, and the person who you have to live with all the time isn't happy with the way you look and starts treating you meanly. That really sucks! You should be nice to her, but don't let her trample all over you if she's being really mean. It's obvious that she has some major self esteem issues, but that's no reason to treat other people horribly like she is. Maybe try to talk to her about it...Or request a new roomate if it gets really bad.
Oh yeah, and don't put the weight back on just so she'll start being nice again xD

QUESTION:
Nutritional supplements that assist with weight loss?
I am 5'2" and currently 172 pounds with a decently muscular build (under all the excess weight, that is...). My goal weight to get within the normal BMI range where I would be healthy is 136 pounds. I am not looking for any "quick fixes," so please don't bother recommending the pink patch, things like that. I have a diet and exercise plan worked out. What I am looking for is any suggestions - backed by research and/or experience - for vitamin or nutritional supplements that might assist me in the endeavor.I know I'm going to have to work at it, and I've heard of supplements that will increase your metabolism and things like that as long as you're already changing your diet and exercise behaviors. Do any of these work? Are there any safe and all-natural appetite suppressants that could help with my cravings (I have a terrible sweet tooth)? I'm willing to try anything as long as it's safe and not putting my body in danger. Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
You have a sweet tooth because you eat junk food. All you need to do is do a yeast cleanse, you can also take chlorophyll, blue green algae, and something for glucose support to control your blood sugars. You can also take a tsp of braggs apple sider vinegar before each meal to control the glycemic index level of the food you eat. Braggs is the only kind that works.

QUESTION:
How do I get off of my weight loss plateau.....been stuck here for 3 weeks...HELP?
Last year at this time I weighed 232 pounds and today I weigh 200 so I did manage to lose 32 pounds this past year but now I seem to be stuck at 200 and just can't lose anymore. I eat right,4 oz. of meat,8 glasses of H2o a day and green veg. every day. I keep my calories under 2000 and I do cardio for 30 minutes a day 5 days a week at least plus I strength train for 15-30 minutes every other day. I have lost inches....actually I started this workout routine in January of this year and have lost a total of 7 1/2 inches over all my body since then. My goal is to get back down to 190 which happens to be my pre-pregnancy weight (my girl will be 2 next month). If I were to get under that weight it would be a wonderful bonus but right now I just want those last 10,stubborn pounds GONE! I have tried phentermine and hate it,it works to aid in weight loss but causes some crazy bad side effects. Please don't tell me diet and exercise ALONE are the only ways because im not interested in hearing that. I need advice from someone who knows what im talking about and can suggest a diet meal plan or a natural supplement to AID me in my weight loss goal.....what will burn this fat and speed my metabolism up.
Oh guess I forget to make this question a little more simply for the not to bright who like to express their opionion. I am 6 ft. tall and 200,and yes I am aware that this is overweight & this is WHY I am trying to lose this weight....you see 190 is what you would call a short term goal and a healthy BMI is my long term goal. Yes,I am aware that in order to KEEP the weight off I need to lose in gradually O.K. I would not have posted THIS question if I wasn't over weight, and please only intelligent answers.-

QUESTION:
cayenne pepper metabolism tablets, or one a day weight loss?
my mom gave me these two bottles of vitamins for help in weight loss. i was just reading up on them, but one article said to not eat anything for 10 days and only take cayenne pepper tablets and drink lemonade? i could never do that, so if that's the only way for those to work i'm not going to even try them.
the other ones i have are equate weight conscious. those dont sound as beneficial or helpful as the cayenne pepper tablets do, but if they help you lose weight faster then i would do it.i work out 3-5 times a week and the days i dont work out i clean my house which is an equivalent to working out for me.
i try to eat healthy, being that i am on a budget, i sometimes just have to eat whatever is in the fridge. i buy healthy groceries when i go shopping, and then when they spoil or run out i just dont have the money to spend on all the healthier stuff, so basically.
i am asking, given my healthy-ish diet, and the fact that i work out on a regular basis, what pill would suit me best?
not to mention i am also on zoloft, i dont think natural supplements will do anything with that, but i just want to make sure (i take 100mg) frankly the cayenne one sounds good to me in my opinion but if i have to drink lemonade for 10 days i KNOW i wouldnt be able to do that.....any help would be appreciated. i just keep trying and trying and trying and it comes off... slowly... veeeeeeeerrry slowly. i just want something that will give me a little more of a kick, so im actually benefitting from the process.

ANSWER:
Oh honey. Please do me a favour and throw the word diet out of your vocabulary. Fit people don't take diet pills. Fit people don't starve themselves. Fit people don't try to find a quick fix for their bodies. Here is the plan. Find your daily caloric requirements by checking Ehow. They won't sell you anything. Then check that old food guide you learned about in school and start making healthy meal choices. Your mom can join you in this effort. Then continue to be active and even try to go for an every day activity that lasts about an hour, on top of your formal exercise program. Walking is a great idea and your mom can join you.
Good luck. Stay off the dumb diet sites. Learn about your body and what it takes to be a fit, powerful woman.

QUESTION:
Do these supplements cause weight gain?
Just wondering if anyone knows FOR A FACT if Amphetamine Salts ER 30mg, Slo Niacin 500mg, Fish Oil 1360mg, B-12 2500mcg, Melatonin 5mg cause weight gain? Im trying to figure out why I am gaining weight... here is my typical day:For breakfast I eat either 3 eggs microwaved (with green peppers, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese) OR Quaker oats (mixed with greek yogurt, blueberries, walnuts, raisins)
Then I take Amphetamine Salts ER ( generic for Adderall XR) at 9AM.
I spend 30-45 min sweeping, vacuuming, washing dishes.
About noontime I take Nature's Bounty brand sublingual B-12 2500mcg
I eat Dannon Light&Fit Blueberry OR strawberry yogurt and a homemade snack mix (almonds, walnuts, raisins, cinamon, and dried mango) for snacks during the day.
Pretty much all I also eat are bannanas, apples (with natural peanut butter), and apricots
In the afternoon I take Sundown Naturals brand Triple Strength Fish Oil 1360mg.
When my adderall wears off about 6PM every night I get really hungry.
For nightly snacks I have Ghirardelli Intense Dark chocolates OR Edy's Yogurt Blends.
I take Spring Valley brand Melatonin 3mg (I take 1 1/2 tablets) every night to sleep.
I also have Slo Niacin 500mg that I plan to start taking for mood.
I run a 5 mile trail 2-3 days every week.
Does anyone have any expertice to share with me about weight loss AND knowledge about supplements, which one help with mood, metabolism, weight loss, energy?
Thank you for taking the time to read my question!
-
ANSWER:
No, those supplements alone are not enough to cause weight gain.
However, if you're gaining weight and that's all you're eating, you may not be eating enough calories for the energy you expend. If you don't intake enough calories for your daily needs, your body can go into starvation mode and not burn as many calories as you normally would so you don't starve as quickly. If you are gaining weight from this regimen and you aren't sure why, I would recommend talking to a nutritionist or dietitian so they can look at all the factors involved to see why you're gaining weight, work with your meal plan to increase or adjust whatever is needed, etc. Good luck and I hope I helped!

QUESTION:
does hydroxycut give you anxiety?any other weight loss aids that are safe?
I have tried some diet supplements, like LIPO6, which worked, but made me jittery and gave me anxiety. i felt liek my heart was raceing all the time. im guessing this is because of the caffeine. now, i hear hydroxycut has a caffeine free version, how exactly does this work and will it make me jittery and anxious? I can't possibly eat any less, i eat a normal, healthy amount (occasionally breaking the diet but thats liek once a week and im human)work out 4-6 times a week...i guess i just need a little boost. what other vitamins or supplements work for aiding in weight loss?I am about safety first though, i wan't nothing to do with anything liek epehdra that can give you strokes and heart attacks. anything natural thats not that expensive? i was on a herbal magic supplement that somewhat helped me lose weight but it cost me 70 dollars a week!-

QUESTION:
Safe weight loss aid w/ exercise and diet plan?
I am about 5' 10" 168 lbs, male, age 19. I realize that this isn't excessively overweight by typical standards but I'm trying to take some steps towards getting into shape by shedding some body fat and building some more muscle. For the past month or two I've been exercising on an average of 2-4 times per week for about 30 minutes total each day and am trying to restrict my caloric intake to less than 1700 per day. I am seeing some results but I'd like to take it a step further if possible.
Are there any safe, all-natural if possible, supplements or drugs I can take that can assist me in either burning calories, building lean muscle, and/or reducing my appetite (I have a pretty big one at times)? I'm well aware of the negative effects that commercial weight loss pills can have, but I don't want something that will do it all more me, just an AID coupled with my diet and exercise. Are there any changes I should make in my current diet/exercise plan to increase effectiveness? Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
My current exercise "plan" usually consists of me biking 3-5 miles up- and down-hill, followed by push ups, crunches, and pull ups. I just started with the latter exercises so it will take some time to build up some strength before I can consider it legitimate weight exercises.-
ANSWER:
Your still in the normal BMI range, which is good.
1700 calories is about the right amount for a male to loose weight; don't be afraid to exceed to 2000 (that's perfectly fine). Remember to be getting all your essential nutrients: about 40-45g of fat (try your best to avoid all saturated/trans fats) about 200g of carbohydrates (keep them all from natural sources such as brown rice, wheat bread, oatmeal, ect) 150-200g of protein mostly from natural sources (only take a protein powder if necessary and if you do, take it pre and post workout) Try to avoid all artificial flavorings. Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup and Hydrogenated Oils
Many people assume that cardiovascular activity is best for losing weight, however in my opinion, weight training is the best method. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't do cardio, but incorporate cardio after your weight training specific exercises.
Creatine is possibly the most used safe supplement for someone looking on gaining muscle mass. In short, Creatine is a substance normally found in your body due to consumption of animal meats. This substance rapidly reproduces ATP energy in your muscles, thus, causing one's body to perform better at the gym. Creatine can be purchased at your local supplement store (GNC recommended). Be sure to drink a lot of water. 10 Cups a day, I recommend.

QUESTION:
your input on the benefits of Mineral Body Wraps for Detox,Health and weight Loss?
I had a few sessions of Body Wraps done at this salon called Hollywood Body Wraps..In Lakeland, Fl...I visited this salon on Nov 06 ...I had never heard of Body Wraps until my Rheumatologist suggested I should get a few done to alleviate my pain (I’ve lived Rheumatoid Arthritis for 4 yrs and the pain was just unbearable) I must say that after my first wrap I was feeling so much better. The lady explained that the minerals remove impurities ...After my 3rd wrap I amazingly did not fit into my pants ..I was very active, my husband was in disbelief. Now My question, it's been awhile since I had these done...will my symptoms come back? Should I get a few done a year? I'm really afraid to get back the pain. I get so much done now and you never here me say my joints hurt..It's been 1yr and 7 months. I am looking into all natural supplements and Minerals since I think that's what took my pain away. QUESTION:
Should I be concerned about my already-skinny stepmother's unending quest to be thinner?
My stepmom is already thin. People comment on it all the time with worry in their voices. She's always been thin, yet she will not be convinced that she doesn't need to lose weight. In the 15 years I've known her, she has not stopped counting calories, avoiding carbs, taking up fad diets (South Beach, Atkins, Weight Watchers, Master Cleanse, etc., etc.), and skipping meals altogether. Our refrigerator contains nothing but low-fat / fat-free / diet / low-calorie / 0-calorie / negative-calorie products. Now, just a few days ago, I found something that really sent up a red flag: a stash of appetite suppressants and diet pills that fills a kitchen drawer and two cupboards. It includes:-"Quick Boost" Energy Drink Mix / Dietary Supplement from Quick Weight Loss Center (24 boxes, each containing 14 units)
-"Herbal-Slim Lite" from Quick Weight Loss Center (3 bottles, each containing 180 capsules)
-"EFA" Essential Fatty Acid Dietary Supplement from Quick Loss Weight Center (8 bottles, each containing 120 capsules)
-"Carb Blocker" from Quick Loss Weight Center (8 bottles, each containing 90 capsules)
-"Herbal-Slim Metabolizer" from Quick Loss Weight Center (4 bottles, each containing 180 capsules)
-"15-Day Weight Loss Cleanse & Flush" (1 bottle containing 60 capsules)
-"Fücothin" Concentrated Fucoxanthin (1 bottle containing 60 capsules)
-"Zenergize: Burn" Natural Weight Loss Boost (2 boxes, each containing 10 units)
-"Naturalean Complete: Trim Effects Crave Control Formula" (1 bottle containing 100 capsules)
-"Glycotrol" from the Houston Weight Loss & Lipo Center (2 bottles, each containing about 50 pills)
-"Slim Shots" Liquid Appetite Controller (1 box containing 30 shots)
I hope my stepmother is not taking all of these products concurrently. It appears that she's at least sampled each one, and worked her way through many of them. A quick glance over these products reveals that few, if any, are FDA-approved. "Slim Shots" claims that four separate studies point to the efficacy of their product, but I can't find any of these studies published anywhere. The claims of some of the other products (e.g. Fücothin) seem to be based on results of preliminary studies that have not yet been replicated. And although they all claim to be "all-natural" and "chemical-free," they seem to have effects on the body that could still be dangerous: altering the pancreas' absorption capacity, changing the body's base metabolic rate, making the body feel full when it is actually hungry, etc. And isn't GlycoTrol intended for people with diabetes? I know my stepmother is not diabetic.
The worst part is that my sister and stepsister, both teenagers, have learned that the compulsive quest for thinness is completely normal and that taking supplements for weight loss is nothing unusual. My sister, who is 19 and perfectly thin, berated me today after I criticized her for taking Sim Shots. She claims to have her own sizable stash in her room somewhere.
Am I making a big deal out of nothing, or is there cause for legitimate concern here? Is this grounds for some sort of intervention? Should I talk to my doctor?
I should probably add that I've heard through the family grapevine that my stepmother has suffered from eating disorders as a teenager and young woman.-
ANSWER:
Hi, thats so wonderful that you are concerned about her. I definitely would be as well. My parents are both in the medical field so I know a bit myself about these sort of things. I would suggest first going to the person with the most sway over your stepmom and get them to talk to her about the very serious potenial health problems that could arrise from what shes doing. Talking to a doctor is by no means a bad thing to do. If it means the health of your stepmom, I would suggest arranging a meeting with your stepmom, her doctor, and possibly yourself if the doctor needs someone from the outside of her problem to give their opinion...
i hope this helps.

QUESTION:
Mixed up about not breastfeeding?
I recently stopped breastfeeding my almost 9 month old baby. She pretty much weaned herself because for about the last month and a half she would just get on the breast and play for 5-10 minutes before quitting. With the exception of in the middle of the night she has seemed more interested in the bottle and solid food than the breast. Yesterday I decided officially to quit altogether and start taking a weight loss supplement. I have been going back and forth in my mind as to whether I was ready to quit for about the same time that she has seemed to prefer solid foods. Every time I say "OK.That is it. She seems like she is pretty much done with it aside from comfort at night, so I am going to just stop." I start to feel confused and a little depressed. I know that its normal for me to feel this way and I am ready to do something for me (jump start my weight loss) since she is mostly wanting solids and formula and only asks for the breasts once every day to 2 days. My question is for moms who have breastfed. When you decided to stop, did you experience confusion and depression? Did you feel a little guilty even though you knew your baby was ready? How long did it take you to overcome these feelings and what did you do to help you feel better?
Please do not try to talk to me about the weight loss. I know what I am doing and I am taking all natural supplements without caffeine or ephedra. This question is about personal experience of when you ended your breastfeeding.
Thank you.
And yes, she has shown a preference for the bottle. I think that its possibly because it is easier for her to get the milk. Also maybe because she gets bored on the breast as she cannot do other things while breastfeeding, like play or look around at things.-
ANSWER:
I hope you can ignore the rather bias opinion above about formula feeding above being 'bad' (although formula does take poo into a different league I agree, but she's already on solids so you know big poo's!). My child has been formula fed since about 6 weeks, as she wanted feeding every 20 minutes for the last 48hrs and my health visitor actually bought me the tin so I could get some sleep!!In the UK they only recommend breastfeeding until 6 months and I completely agree that breast is best at the start of a child's life to prevent diseases, but millions of children around the world (including most of our generation) were formula fed and you don't see them/us complaining.
A mother has to think about herself too, and I'm sorry but my baby is 7 months and I would be AFRAID to let the little monster near my boobies now!
I felt so guilty at first but when your breasts dry up and you can start having them back as your own 'puppies' again, you will feel so much better and your little darling won't miss them for a second.
You're not just a mother, you're a woman too and I guarantee within a month everything will be fine and you won't look back!

QUESTION:
weight Loss for Military Service?
Thank you all for reading this question and taking the time to answer. My question is I am trying to lose about 40 lbs of fat and get into shape for military ( reserve) boot camp by May 2010. I am 5'7 and I weight about 217lbs( lost 10 lbs) in past three weeks. I have started to exercise daily and here is my program. Every gym sessions lasts about 2 hours.
Mon- Chest and triceps ( 4 sets and min 6-8 reps per exercise) + 1 Hour Cardio ( ski machine - heart rate about 150)
Tues- Back and biceps ( same as above) + 1 Hour cardio ( same as above)
Wed- Legs+ 1 Hour cardio( same as above)
Thurs- Shoulders( 4 sets min 6-8 reps per exercise) + 1 hour cardio ( ski machine)
Fri- Back ( 4 sets min 6-8 reps per exercise) + 1 Hour cardio( ski machine heart rate 150).
Sat - rest Cardio only 1 hour ( heart rate 150)
Sun- no exercise.
Sleep- 6- 8 hours but sometimes hard because working two jobs and hours are crazy, but trying my best.Diet- High protein, low healthy carbs ( oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, just before working out) + supplements ( vitamins), and only water to drink, maybe one coffee to get me up in the morning. Meals are about six meals a day ( ie)
Monday- breakfast - salmon burger(2) egg whites(2) bottle of water, coffee (black), small portion of walnuts
snack( 4 hours later) break bar known as Cliff bar+ water
Lunch: Grilled Lamb+ whole wheat pasta or my favorite bowl of Oatmeal with blueberries and skim milk+_water.
( carbs only before workout and never before sleep)
snack ( after gym) Break bar or protein shake+ water
Dinner: Grilled turkey or my favorite salmon steaks( only steamed, baked or grilled)
Now my questions are I know this can be improved on? I only did this because this a plan I use to use when I studied Judo, and it did help. But that was 20 years ago, and things have changed. Ultimate goal is a weight around 170 and BMI less than 20%, since military chart says I am overwieght. If anyone has any comments of any help with this program which could speed up my weight loss, that would be greatly appreciated. Please no special weight loss drinks that only screw with your metabolism, all natural all the way, PLEASE. Thank you all in advance, for your help.
again please Kenzie and all I do not want a super special diet berry that only I must buy. And you have cure to all my ailments I do not believe in that and think it is a waste of time.-
ANSWER:
Your current program has nothing for core / abs. You need to exercise this if you want to avoid chronic conditions such as back problems.Doing 6-8 reps per set for an exercise is for increasing strength, and not for weight loss. What you should be looking at is between 15 and 20 reps per set, with a weight that will make the 20th rep almost impossible to lift.
Also, since you're training for weight loss, you don't need to stagger your body parts over 5 days. Do Chest and back on day 1, shoulders and core on day 2, and legs and arms (biceps and triceps) on day 3.
Remember to do a short warm up and stretch routine before you start with the weights, and do your cardio after wards. Try and get a bit of variation into your cardio, as doing the same thing every day will cause you to lose effectiveness. Use the treadmill, stationary bike, etc as well.

QUESTION:
Has anyone ever heard of this weight loss drug...?
It's called hoodoba or hoodia(something in that nature). I heard that it's all natural dietary supplement and the woman that works at my gym told me its safe and that her friend used it and lost 10lbs in 2-4 weeks. To me that's alot considering I'm like 194lbs. I want to drop my weight quickly too since I am approaching my senior year in HS.so my question is: Has anyone heard of this drug? If so, does anyone have any horror stories or happy ending stories on this drug? Please share! I'd love to hear about it cause I'm thinking about taking it.
I also heard this drug doesn't have any harmful side-effects like other weight loss drugs.P.S To make sure no one gets confused I mean real life stories that acutually happened not made up ones.

QUESTION:
Under eating and continually losing weight?
I know you need 1200 cals per day to keep your body/metabolism healthy.... and I'm not intentially going under, but I'm just assuming I am..I'm 20 years old, 5'8 and 200
Anyways... I've been eating one meal a day.. and i know people are going to freak over this... but its not that i'm only eating once a day... I start my day off with fruit.. and snack on fruit (mainly strawberries and grapes) throughout the day.. I just never eat an actual meal until about 6 PM.... and it's not really a huge/unhealthy meal.
I never eat hamburger/steak/porkchops..... so basically I only usually eat chicken for protein... but I also only drink 1 glass of skim milk a day....
My question is, I've heard many times that if you under eat and your body thinks its starving, it will store any fat that you eat.... but I've been eating this way for maybe the passed 2.5 months and lost 25 pounds...
is this natural?.. will my weight loss continue?...
I haven't upped my exercise really at all... (but usually do 30 mins 3 times a week) and yes, i take supplements...thanks in advance!

ANSWER:
Your diet seems reasonably OK and is similar to the Atkins diet with the main difference that you are consuming a lot less animal protein.Undereating can weaken your immune system and make you feel very weak and very tired but if you feel OK you probably are OK.
Two points that might be relevant in your case seem to be that apparently you don't consume any vegetables and no complex carbohydrates such as bread, cereals , pasta or rice. A healthy diet should normally include vegetables and complex carbohydrates. You are getting lots of fruit and that means mostly simple carbohydrates so you can probably get by on those but some complex carbohydrates and vegetables in addition to all your fruit would be desirable.

QUESTION:
Whey protein and Weight loss?
I have been dieting and working out since the beginning of the year (Literally January 1st, 2009). I started out weighing 294 pounds (Im 6'0 tall) and now i am down to 252 while only taking "Mega Green Tea' pills as a supplement. I have been trying to go all natural so far but i read about whey protein and its benefits. My weekly routine is Monday, Friday wiehgt training, and tuesday, thursday conditioning. I started to take the weigh protein after every wight training workout about 2 weeks ago, and i have not lost any weight since, in fact i have gained about 5 pounds since. I am taking a high quality Whey protein with only 135 calories (15 fat calories wich are the ones i closely follow) Per scoop. I take one scoop with 8 oz. of 1% milk. My question is what relevance might the whey protein be having with the slower weight loss? Thanks in advanced.-
ANSWER:
NUTRITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is always #1 as far as whey, make sure you are consuming a high quality chemical free whey product minus the fillers and additives.

QUESTION:
Digestion and weight loss...(experts only please--no "hypothesizing":))?
Hi everyone,I'm constantly reading these conflicting(?) articles on weight management and digestion. Some advertisements sing the praises of this or that food/supplement/ingredient, saying it "aids digestion" and thereby helps promote weight loss. Many health articles give us list of foods which are easily digested "making the nutrients more absorbably/accessible."
But...the low-glycemic diet plan is all about SLOWING digestion, isn't it? And eating foods that aren't so quickly and readily absorbable. In fact, it teaches that the harder your body has to work to "get" at a food/nutrient, the better the food is.
Then there are even foods out there that function as natural "carb blockers" or "fat blockers," preventing/decreasing our bodies' absorption of certain fats and carbs.
But...then there are enzymes we're supposed to take to help us absorb nutrients more effectively!
What am I missing??? Help!
Thanks for your feedback! :0)
EDIT: just browsing and need a laugh? Check out answer #6. Guess the poor guy used up all his wit on his username...
EDIT #1, continued:
...and his edit. Note the unintentional irony.EDIT #2: He's right about one thing, though: apparently, this site is not the place to find an answer. Again, the question is about digestion and weight loss, not "general health and diet tips." I appreciate the feedback, but please limit comments to the actual topic.

ANSWER:
Your first mistake is getting your information from advertisements. The companies that buy advertisements have only one interest - to make money. It doesn't matter if their product doesn't work or not as long as too many people don't die, and even if people die, their team of lawyers will find a way to put the fault on the user and not the product itself. How often do you read the fine print?"Health" articles in most mass media outlets are also poor. They are typically written by "journalists" who are science-illiterate.
The low GI diet is not about slowing digestion. It is about regulating blood sugar levels. I don't know where you got this "your body has to work to get a nutrient" idea from, but it is incorrect.
If you want good health and nutrition information, read university level nutrition textbooks and articles from scientific journals that use peer reviewing as a method of quality control.

QUESTION:
Is the 'Cabbage soup diet' really good for you?
I am curious what you all think, this is my diet plan for the next month,1 Drink skim milk and wheat toast with natural peanut butter for breakfast. Take your multivitamin supplement, and weight loss pill.
2 Do your stretching exercises and cycle for 30 mins.
3 three times a week do your strength training which includes
Lunges, Planks, and Push ups.4 Eat Cabbage soup diet plan for lunch and dinner.
At lunch time take your calcium and weight loss pill.5 Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
6 Drink herbal tea with lemon to relax before bed. And take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
Does that sound like a good meal plan?
After two weeks i am introducing lean fish into the soup at dinner time.
For snacks i was going to add apples and almonds or some kind of nut ^^.Oh and the cabbage diet, isnt just cabbage so you know, this is what it consists of...
6 large green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
3 Carrots
1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
1 bunch of celery
half a head of cabbage
1 package Lipton soup mix
1 or 2 cubes of bouillon (optional)
1 48oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.-
ANSWER:
I have done the cabbage soup diet and it was successful for me, however after I stopped the cabbage soup, I gained weight back almost immediately, even though I was still eating healthily and exercising. You really shouldn't eat the cabbage soup for longer than a week at a time. It's a catabolic food, so you're burning more calories than you're taking in. Doing it any longer than a week could be more harmful than helpful. Also, be prepared to feel hungrier more often. You should plan to add a couple of small snacks throughout the day, or plan to eat more soup. Other than that, it sounds pretty good. Good luck!

QUESTION:
Would this sport supplement harm me?
I' am interested in the Vespa CV-25 sport supplement which works by encouraging the muscles to metabolize fat. It supposedly conserves glycogen levels and reduces blood lactates. It claims to be all natural and uses amino vitamins. Would this be like the weight-loss supplements that kill people? Also, what negative consequences in particular could this result in? I would like this to be answered by a qualified health care professional if possible and please don't use any generic statements like they are all bad for you or they all cause heart problems I would like to know about this particular product.http://www.vespapower.com/VESPA-CV-25-40Case-of-1241_p_7.html
-
ANSWER:
It won't harm you, but it won't help you. It's just sugar, water, a VERY small amount of amino acids, a VERY small amount of a few B vitamins, and Vit. C. The sugar and aminos comes from some of the substances that bees and wasps make, but that doesn't mean anything. Sugar is sugar, no matter what makes it. And the aminos are just aminos, which you can get from ANY source of protein. It sounds exotic because it's got bee and wasp stuff in it, but it's nothing special. Go to the grocery store, and buy some raw honey. It'll have the same ingredients in it, but cost less than a thousandths the price of this stuff. Save your money.

QUESTION:
What alternatives are there to Hydroxycut? Good-for-you diet pill?
For the past 6 months I have been stuggling to lose 15 lbs (currently 5 foot 2 & 135 lbs, goal 120) but I have gotten no where. I've been exercising an hour a day doing cardio & aerobic & eating between 1,000 & 1,200 calories a day. I'm frustrated & confused & have thought of taking a supplement in addition to diet & exercise. Has anyone personally used Hydroxycut? I've heard of some of the side effects such a sweating, increased heart rate, dizziness, headaches... I often have those same side effects from caffeine so I stopped consuming any at all.
Are there any weight loss supplements without bad side effects? Some that are more natural than others? What about SlimQuick, etc?-
ANSWER:
The first thing to learn about diet pills is how and why different types work so that you can find the best one for your own body. There are some good articles posted here that explain how and why different types of diet pills work. http://www.weightlossfatloss.us/diet_pills.asp Find the right one and they work great.
